Relationships among Emotional Labor, Fatigue, and Musculoskeletal Pain in Nurses (간호사의 감정노동, 피로 및 근골격계 통증의 관계)

  • This study examined emotional labor, fatigue, and musculoskeletal pain in hospital nurses. The study sample included 235 hospital nurses. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression.The average emotional labor score was 3.27, and of fatigue was 2.04. The musculoskeletal pain score was 4.43. Emotional labor and fatigue are significantly positively associated with musculoskeletal pain(r=.180, p=.006; r=.278, p<.001). Emotional labor was positively associated with the degree of fatigue(r=.353, p<.001). The significant predictors of musculoskeletal pain for nurses were physical fatigue(${\beta}=.324$, p<.001) and gender(female)(${\beta}=.171$, p=.009), explaining 13.7% of the variance in musculoskeletal pain(F=16.271, p<.001). The results suggest that engaging in emotional labor related to nursing tasks increases the risks of fatigue and musculoskeletal pain. Therefore, it is important to develop a management program to relieve the emotional labor, fatigue, and prevent musculoskeletal pain for clinical nurses.

The Effects of Verbal Violence in Clinical Practice, Academic Stress Coping, and Depression on Professional Self-concepts among Korean Nursing Students (간호대학생의 임상실습 시 경험한 언어폭력, 학업스트레스 대처 및 우울이 전문직 자아개념에 미치는 영향)

  • The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of verbal violence experienced during clinical practice, emotional responses, academic stress coping, and depression on professional self-concepts of nursing students. Data were collected through a self-reported structured questionnaire form given to nursing students in grades 3-4 using convenient sampling methods from October 25 to November 1, 2017. As a result, 41.9% of the subjects experienced verbal violence during clinical practice. The frequency of experiences for verbal violence was '1 time' at 16.9%, '2 times' at 15.5%, and '3 times' at 4.7%. The verbal violence attackers were patients (42.9%), nurses (37.7%), and protector (15.5%). Emotional response was positively correlated with depression and frequency of verbal violence. Academic stress coping had a negative correlation with depression and a positive correlation with professional self-concept. Depression was negatively correlated with professional self-concept. Multiple regression analysis showed that academic stress coping and depression were statistically significant variables in the professional self-concept, and these variables had a 28% explanatory power. Therefore, in order to improve the professional self-concept of nursing students, it is necessary to develop a strategy to raise the level of academic stress coping and to reduce depression.

  • Recently, the research on ICT (Information and Communication Technology), which cognizes and communicates human's emotion through information technology, is increasing. For instance, there are researches on phones and services that perceive users' emotions through detecting people's voices, facial emotions, and biometric data. In short, emotions which were used to be predicted only by humans are, now, predicted by digital equipment instead. Among many ICT researches, research on emotion recognition from face is fully expected as the most effective and natural human interface. This paper studies about sensitivity ICT and examines mechanism of facial expression recognition system as an example of sensitivity ICT.

  • This study aims at empiricallly designing method to increase player's play capability through determining of the relations of player's behavior pattern and emotion factors when having gameplay experiences in MMORPG. For modeling emotion factors on gameplay, Our preliminary studies are considered in the process of rule-based systems on cognitive science approach. These study estabilished game architecture process applied of player's cognitieve emotion reactions in specific situation of role playing games that have most noticeable interaction with players based on quest system. This approach is expected to extend instant responses, which can be controlled behind all of anti-main behavior pattern and main behavior pattern in game playing. Therefore, such study is meaningful that is proposed the analysis framework of player's emotion factors to design game playing capability in game interactions.

  • 감성(sensitibility)은 반사적이며 직관적으로 발생하고, 인위적인 조정이 불가능하며 명확한 표현이 어렵고 모호하다고 한다. 또 감정(emotion)이 주어진 대상에 따라 동일한 반응을 보이는 공통성을 갖지만, 감성은 동일한 대상에도 개인에 따라 다양한 반응을 보이며, 시간과 환경에 따라 변한다고 본다. 이는 반응 형성의 두 가지 요소인 외부의 자극이나 대상과 반응하는 주체의 양자에서, 감정이 감성에 비해 외부의 자극이나 대상의 영향을 더 받고, 감성은 상대적으로 외부 상황보다는 반응 주체의 다양한 내부 상황에 따라 결정된다는 것을 의미할 수 있다. 이러한 감성의 특징들은 Freud가 말한 무의식의 특징과 비슷한 점이 많다. 따라서 무의식의 작용양상을 살펴보는 것이 감성의 연구에 도움이 될 수 있다고 생각한다. 무의식이란 우리의 마음에 항상 작용하고 있지만, 일상적인 상태에서는 분명하게 알아 볼수가 없고 확실하게 드러나지도 않는 어떤 힘을 말한다. 이는 개인의 다양한 과거 경험이 포함되어 있어서 사람에 따라 각기 다르게 나타나게 된다. 우리가 항상 경험하고 있는 의식은 확실하게 서로 구분되는 대상과 확인율(the principle of identity), 구분논리(bivalent logic), 모순율(the principle of formal contradiction), 상반율(the principle of incompatibility), 가감율(the operation of substraction)을 수용하여 작용한다. 무의식은 의식활동의 이러한 명료함과 정연함을 벗어나 활동한다. 대상간의 구분이 모호해지고 정연한 논리가 흐트러진다. 일상에서는 꿈의 내용과 어린이의 생각, 감정에 치우칠 때 무의식의 특징이 나타난다. Freud는 꿈을 관찰하여 무의식의 작용양상을 다음과 같이 설명하였다. 서로 상반되는 것들이 다음과 같이 설명하였다. 서로 상반되는 것들이 부딛힘이 없이 공존하고 일상의 논리가 무시된다. 부정, 의심이 없고 확실한 것이 없다. 한 대상에 가졌던 생각이 다른 대상에 옮겨간다(displacement). 한 대상이 여러 대상이 갖고 있는 의미를 함축하고 있다(condensation). 시각적인 순서가 무시된다. 마음속의 생각과 외부의 실제적인 일을 구분하지 못한다. 시간 상의 순서가 있다가 없다가 한다. 차례로 일어나야 할 일이 동시에 한꺼번에 일어난다. 대상들이 서로 비슷해지고 동시에 있을 수 없는 대상들이 함께 나타난다. 사고의 정상적인 구조가 와해된다. Matte-Blance는 무의식에서는 여러 독립된 대상들간의 구분을 없애며, 주체와 객체를 하나로 보려는 대칭화(symmetrization)의 경향이 있기 때문에 이런 변화가 생긴다고 하였다. 또 대칭화가 진행되면 무한대의 느낌을 갖게 되어, 전지(moniscience), 전능(omnipotence), 무력감(impotence), 이상화(idealization)가 나타난다. 그러나 무의식에 대칭화만 있는 것은 아니며, 의식의 사고양식인 비대칭도 어느 정도 나타나며, 대칭화의 정도에 따라, 대상들이 잘 구분되어 있는 단계, 의식수준의 감정단계, 집단 내에서의 대칭화 단계, 집단간에서의 대칭화 단계, 구분이 없어지는 단계로 구분하였다.

The Effects of Perceived Justice of Service Recovery Efforts on the Customer Relationship Performance in Mobile Social Commerce (모바일 소셜 커머스에서 서비스 회복 노력의 공정성이 대고객 관계성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper aims to examine the effects of perceived justice of service recovery efforts on the customer relationship performance in mobile social commerce. To this end, we classified cognitive-affective trusts and post-recovery satisfaction into the customer relationship performance. This research employs a field survey of customers who experienced service failures in mobile social commerce and a covariance structural model analysis in order to test hypotheses of our research model. The findings present that all justices of service recovery efforts positively affect the cognitive trust, whereas the only procedural justice significantly influences the affective trust. In addition, the results show that cognitive-affective trusts have a positive effect on the post-recovery satisfaction. Our results suggest practical implications that are used to help managers maintain and improve relations with the customers who experienced service failures and to increase the post-recovery satisfaction.

A Study on Naver and Google's Eventful Brand Experience Design (네이버와 구글의 이벤트성 브랜드 경험 디자인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how brands are perceived to be most positive when they are presented to users in brand experience design, and to help them communicate more effectively. Originally, brands changed their logos periodically with the aim of communicating anniversaries. These days, not only this information but also emotional communication with users. As a research method, two major portal sites were selected for use in Korea, and a preference survey and in-depth interview were conducted based on the case of the event logos. From the results of the study, we were able to obtain results that the event logos act as a more positive factor when they provide users with various emotional motivations. In the future, we anticipate that users will be given higher value if they have a design approach that will elicit more diverse emotions from the brand experience.

  • Products can maintain a high level of market share for many years by succeeding early in the development of a market. To overcome the benefit of pioneering a market, late entrants to the market can use differentiation strategies: developing novel attributes or enhancing preexisted attributes. In general, preexisted attributes are more memorable, but novel attributes can be weighted as heavily as preexisted attributes by contextual constraints. Based on the research of appraisal-congruent judgement, certainty appraisal dimension may affect the degree to which people engage in systematic or heuristic processing. This study examines the effects of alignability (the ease with which the attributes of one object can be aligned or mapped onto another object) of product attributes and certainty on consumer preferences for late entrants. Participants were induced to experience certainty and then completed a questionnaire. As predicted, participants induced certainty were likely to engage in heuristic processing, while participants induced uncertainty were likely to engage in systematic processing. This study provides an implication that companies should additionally consider consumers' feeling of certainty when launching a new brand.
