The Effect of Oxygen Administration on Cerebrum Lateralization in Verbal Task (언어 과제 수행 시 산소 공급이 대뇌 편측화에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study attempted to observe what changes the supply of highly concentrated(30%) oxygen cause to people's ability and cerebrum lateralization of verbal cognition, compared to air of normal oxygen concentration(21%). The experiment consisted of two runs, one for verbal cognition test with normal air(21% of oxygen) and for verbal cognition test with more oxygen in the air(30% of oxygen). Functional brain images were taken form 3T MRI using the single-shot EPI method. There were more activations observed at the occipital, parietal, temporal, and frontal lobes, but there were no changes in cerebrum lateralization with 30% oxygen administration. The result of task performance showed the accuracy increased at 30%'s concentration of oxygen rather than 21%'s. It is concluded that the positive effect on the verbal cognitive performance level by the highly concentrated oxygen administration was due to changeless increase of left and right cerebrum activation.

  • 최근 들어 감성공학에 관한 관심도가 증가하고 있다. 감성공학과 관련된 연구는 사람의 감정 상태를 표현하는 방법에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 감정 상태를 표현하는 방법으론 1980년대 Russel이 제안한 Circumplex 모델[1]이 가장 대표적으로 사용되고 있으며, 최근에도 여러 논문[3-6]에서 이 모델을 이용하여 감정 상태를 나타낸다. 하지만 이 모델의 경우에는 사람의 감정상태를 감정차원 평면위에 하나의 점(평균, 분산)으로 표현하기 때문에, 실제 생체신호와의 연관성, 언어 및 문화 차이에 의한 다양성에 관한 연구를 진행하기에 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 척도 대비 분산의 크기 값을 판단하여 하나의 점이 아닌 다수개의 점으로 나타내는 방법을 제시한다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 전통적 조형요소의 이해를 통하여 한국적 조형의 특성을 파악하고 효율적으로 디자인에 적용시킴으로써 차별화 된 제품개발을 하는데 있어 조형언어의 창출을 모색하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 전통도구들의 물적 특성을 통하여 우리의 환경과 삶의 태도에서 베어난 우리 고유의 도구에 대한 사고와 조형방법등에 대한 특질과 가치를 발견하고, 이를 바탕으로 우리만의 차별화된 디자인의 가능성과 방향성을 찾아보고자 하였다. 연구범위는 조선시대 일반서민들의 생활에서 사용되었던 도구를 그 대상으로 하였으며 전통제품들의 예시를 통하여 한국적인 조형성의 특징을 파악하였는데 이는 비교적 자료수집 등 연구가 용이하기 때문이다. 연구방법은 국내에서 출간된 관련서적과 사진 자료 및 그 동안 연구되어 왔던 각종 연구보고서, 각 대학의 디자인 관련학과에서 진행되어 온 컨셉츄얼 디자인(본 연구에서 설정된 조형적 적용방법과 같은 내용으로 디자인작업을 수행해온)을 토대로 하였다.

  • 범용 가상환경 프레임워크 NAVER를 제안하고, 이를 케이브기반 가상현실환경에 적용하여 자동차 시제품 평가 실험에 활용한 사례를 소개한다. NAVER는 다양한 가상현실 어플리케이션을 구현하기 위한 가상환경 프레임워크로, 확장성이 뛰어나고 재구성이 가능하다. NAVER는 Render Server, Control Server, 그리고 Device Server로 구성되어 있으며, 각 서버는 네트워크로 상호 통신하여 각각의 기능을 수행한다. NAVER는 XML 기반 스크립팅 언어를 지원하여 사용자가 자유롭게 가상환경의 여러 가지 객체와 인터랙션을 정의할 수 있도록 설계되었다. NAVER를 케이브 기반 가상현실환경에 적용하여 자동자 시제품평가 실험에 활용하였다. KIST의 케이브 기반 가상현실환경은 4면의 정방형 스테레오 디스플레이 장치, 햅틱 암마스터 장비, 3차원 음향장비 등으로 구성되어 있어, 사용자에서 시각적인 측면에서 뿐만 아니라 촉각, 청각과 같은 여러가지 측면에서 다중현실감을 제시할 수 있다. 자동차 시제품 평가 실험를 통하여 사용자가 실제 자동차가 아닌 가상의 자동차 시제품을 관찰하고, 만져보고, 주행해 봄으로써 더욱 높은 몰입감과 현실감으로 자동차 조작장치의 조작성을 평가할 수 있음을 입증하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 촉각과 관련된 물체의 다양한 성질 중 직접적인 물체의 표면 가공을 통하지 않고 기하학적으로 유사한 표면 거칠기 특성을 재현할 수 있는 철선을 이용한 표면 생성 시스템을 구현하였다. 시스템을 구성하는 구성요소는 크게 철선 및 철선다발, PZT 엑츄에이터, 2축 테이블 구동 시스템, 그리고 영상처리시스템으로 이루어지는데 표면 생성에 관계된 이들 부 시스템들의 작동 소프트웨어를 하나의 통합된 언어로 작성함으로서 철선 제작 및 철선 정렬 등의 과정을 제외한 모든 표면 생성 과정을 자동화하였다. 끝으로, 제작된 표면 생성 시스템을 이용하여 임의의 표면을 생성하고 생성된 표면을 측정함으로서 표면 생성시스템의 우수한 성능을 확인하였다.

WellnessWordNet: A Word Net for Unconstrained Subjective Well-Being Monitor ing Based on Unstructured Data and Contextual Polarity (웰니스워드넷: 비정형데이터와 상황적 긍부정성에 기반하여 주관적 웰빙 상태를 무구속적으로 모니터링하기 위한 워드넷 개발)

  • IT-based subjective well-being (SWB) services, a main part of wellness IT, should measure the SWB state of individuals in an unrestrained, cost-effective manner. The dictionaries for sentiment analysis available in the market may be useful for this purpose, but obtaining proper sentiment values using only words from the sentiment lexicon is impossible; therefore, a new dictionary including wellness vocabulary is needed. The existing sentiment dictionaries link only a single sentiment value to a single sentiment word, although sentiment values may vary depending on personal traits. In this study, we develop an extended version of the SenticNet sentiment dictionary dubbed WellnessWordNet. SenticNet is considered the best and most expressive among the already existing sentiment dictionaries. Using the information provided by SenticNet, we created a database including the wellness states (estimated values) of stress, depression, and anger to develop the WellnessWordNet system. The accuracy of the system was validated through actual tests with live subjects. This study is unique and unprecedented in that i) an extended sentiment dictionary, WellnessWordNet, is developed; ii) values for wellness state language are offered; and iii) different sentiment values, namely contextual polarity, for people of the same gender or age group are suggested.

The Influence of Violence Experience and Emotional Intelligence of Nursing Staff in Long-Term Care Hospitals on the Quality of Nursing Service (요양병원 간호인력의 폭력경험과 감성지능이 간호서비스 질에 미치는 영향)

  • The present descriptive study investigated the influence of violence experienced by nursing staff in long-term care hospitals and their emotional intelligence on the quality of nursing service. The study participants included 167 nursing staff from 9 different long-term care hospitals in G and C Provinces. Data collected from questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 software. While slight differences were found among the subtypes of violence experience, it was found that verbal violence was the most common form in violence, experienced by the nursing staff, followed by physical threat and physical violence. A hierarchical regression analysis performed to investigate the degree of influence of violence experience and emotional intelligence on the quality of nursing service found that violence experience did not significantly affect the quality of nursing service when the general characteristics were controlled whereas emotional intelligence had a significant influence on the quality of nursing service. The results of this study show that, although it is commonly believed that violence experience is a major factor compromising the quality of nursing service, emotional intelligence, which reflects one's ability to utilize and control one's emotions, may actually have a more significant impact on the quality of nursing service. Emotional intelligence can be improved through education and training; therefore, it is necessary to explore ways to improve emotional intelligence of nursing staff such as development of various programs.

A Study on the Construction of Financial-Specific Language Model Applicable to the Financial Institutions (금융권에 적용 가능한 금융특화언어모델 구축방안에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the importance of pre-trained language models (PLM) has been emphasized for natural language processing (NLP) such as text classification, sentiment analysis, and question answering. Korean PLM shows high performance in NLP in general-purpose domains, but is weak in domains such as finance, medicine, and law. The main goal of this study is to propose a language model learning process and method to build a financial-specific language model that shows good performance not only in the financial domain but also in general-purpose domains. The five steps of the financial-specific language model are (1) financial data collection and preprocessing, (2) selection of model architecture such as PLM or foundation model, (3) domain data learning and instruction tuning, (4) model verification and evaluation, and (5) model deployment and utilization. Through this, a method for constructing pre-learning data that takes advantage of the characteristics of the financial domain and an efficient LLM training method, adaptive learning and instruction tuning techniques, were presented.

An fMRI study on the cerebellar lateralization during visuospatial and verbal tasks (공간 및 언어 과제 수행 시 소뇌의 편측화에 관한 뇌 기능 연구)

  • The purposes of the study were to examine cerebellar areas and lateralization responsible for visuospatial and verbal tasks using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging(fMRI). Eight healthy male college students($21.5\;{\pm}\;2.3$ years) and eight male college students($23.3\;{\pm}\;0.5$ years) participated in this fMRI study of visuospatial and verbal tasks, respectively. Functional brain images were taken from 3T MRI using the single-shot EPI method. All functional images were aligned with anatomical images using affine transformation routines built into SPM99. The experiment consisted of four blocks. Each block included a control task(1 minute) and a cognitive task(1 minute). A run was 8 minutes long. Using the subtraction procedure, activated areas in the cerebellum during the visuospatial and verbal tasks were color-coded by t-score. A cerebellar lateralization index was calculated for both cognition tasks using number of activated voxels. The activated cerebellar regions during the both cognition tasks of this study agree with previous results. Since the number of activated voxels of the left and right cerebellar hemisphere was almost same, there was no cerebellar lateralization for both cognition tasks.

The effects of learning method, learning schedule, and task difficulty on the learning of computer software (학습방법, 학습계획, 과제 난이도가 소프트웨어 학습에 미치는 영향)

  • Quick and accurate learning of diverse electronic products has become an important daily task. In particular, software occupies core status in the control and operation of the products. This research tested the effects of learning method, schedule, and task difficulty in the learning of software. Using 2 (learning method: experiential vs. verbal) ${\times}$ 2 (learning schedule: spaced vs. massed) ${\times}$ 2 (difficulty: easy vs. difficult) between-subjects design, Experiment 1 tested participants' learning of file control using Windows Movie Maker. There was no effect of learning schedule on task completion time, but participants in experiential learning were faster in the completion of evaluation task compared with those in verbal learning condition. Importantly, as task difficulty increases participants in verbal condition showed markedly lower performance than those in experiential condition, which suggests that experiential learning is more effective with more difficult learning task. That is, in case of learning simple operation of software verbal learning using linguistic manual or instruction could be sufficient; on the other hand in case of learning complex operation learning from experience or tutorial mode would be more effective. Additional studies which manipulated task difficulty (Expt. 2) and inter-trial learning interval (Expt. 3) did not produce meaningful results.
