A series of model borehole experiments and analyses for density compensation were performed to achieve the effective density correction of gamma-gamma log obtained from PVC cased boreholes. A follow-up survey was made for clarifying the variation property of detector responses depending on casing types, the presence of borehole fluid, and the degree of separation between probe and borehole wall. A special emphasis was placed on the comparison of gamma responses obtained from above and below ground water tables. Finally, we could quantify the detector responses as a function of separation between the probe and borehole wall, construct standoff compensation charts, and the limitations of the compensation have been discussed for the environments of both above and below ground water tables.

A standard default color space, sRGB, provides compatibility for the transmission of color within the Internet color operating systems and device drivers. However, a display monitor we use generally have non-standard primaries and gamma characteristic different from those specified by sRGB. In this paper, correction methods of chromatic error for a non-standard display monitor are proposed. Experimental results show that the proposed method using the correction matrix reduced chromatic errors at in compared with the non-corrected image's on a non-standard display.

Because of the reduced number of displayable gray levels resulting from inverse gamma correction, images on a plasma display panel (PDP) exhibit undesirable false contours in dark areas. An error diffusion method has been applied to remedy this problem. However, it is computationally expensive and requires large memory resources. This paper proposes a computationally efficient dithering based technique to improve the gray level reproduction capability in dark areas. In the proposed method, multiple dithering masks ate utilized in turn to improve the gray level reproduction in dark areas. Also, in order to reduce undesirable regular patterns generated by the dithering method, positions of threshold values within a given dithering mask are changed. Compared to the error diffusion method, the proposed method requires much less computations and memory resources with a comparable gray level reproduction capability.
Sampling design should provide statistics to meet a given accuracy while saving cost and time. However, a large number of non-responses are occurring due to the deterioration of survey circumstances, which significantly reduces the accuracy of the survey results. Non-responses occur for a variety of reasons. Chung and Shin (2017, 2019) and Min and Shin (2018) found that the accuracy of estimation is improved by removing the bias caused by non-response when the response rate is an exponential or linear function of variable of interests. For that case they assumed that the error of the super population model follows normal distribution. In this study, we proposed a non-response bias adjusted estimator in the case where the error of a super population model follows the gamma distribution or the log-normal distribution in a business survey. We confirmed the superiority of the proposed estimator through simulation studies.

As technologies evolve, 3D measurement techniques using cameras have been developed continuously. In 3D measurement, high accuracy, fast speed, and easy implementation are very important factors. Recently, 3D measurement using multi-frequency fringes has been widely used. This method is generally a method of measuring the height of a image obtained by projecting a sine wave through the projector. The sine wave is produced by software. However, this sine wave is not a perfect sine wave by gamma of projector. This is given a bad influence on the height measurement, and can not measure the correct height. In this paper, we propose a method for correcting the phase of the sine wave to avoid being affected gamma. Through this method it will be able to make more accurate height measurement.
Generally, it's known fact that intensity of radioactivity satisfies inverse-square law. However, the law was dissatisfied with practical experiment because of limited shape of scintillation detector. Especially, in the case of near distance between the surface of detector and the radioactive source, the difference grows larger. In the present study, reason of this difference was confirmed by experiment with $2^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\times}2^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\phi}$ NaI(Tl) scintillation detector and $^{60}Co$(1.174 MeV, 1.333 MeV)and $^{137}Cs$(0.662 MeV) gamma ray sources. From the experiment, the correction coefficient was obtained with gamma ray detection efficiency and geometrical volume. In the result of the present study, the efficiency difference of the detector was corrected with the coefficient. In the present result, we obtained that the inverse-square law experiment have to consider the efficiency and geometrical value of the detector.

This proposed gamma (${\gamma}$) correction system is developed to reduce the difference between non-linear gamma curve produced by a typical formula and result produced by the proposed algorithm. In order to reduce the difference, the proposed system is using the Least Squares Polynomial which is calculating the best fitting polynomial through a set of points which is sampled. Each system is consisting of continuous several kinds of equations and having their own overlap sections to get more precise. Based on the algorithm verified by MATLAB, the proposed systems are implemented by using Verilog-HDL. This paper will compare the previous algorithm of gamma system such as Existing system with Seed Table with the latest that such as Proposed system. The former and the latter system have 1, 2 clock latency; each 1 result per clock. Because each of the error range (LSB) is $1{\sim}+1,\;0{\sim}+36$, we can how that Proposed system is improved. Under the condition of SAMSUNG STD90 0.35 worst case, each gate count is 2,063, 2,564 gates and each maximum data arrival time is 29.05[ns], 17.52[ns], respectively.
Concrete is one of the most widely used materials as the shielding structures of a nuclear facilities. It is also the most generated radioactive waste in quantity while dismantling facilities. Since the concrete captures neutrons and generates various radionuclides, radiation measurement and analysis of the sample was fulfilled prior to dismantle facilities. An HPGe detector is used in general for the radiation measurement, and effective correction factors such as geometrical correction factor, self-absorption correction, and absolute detector efficiency have to be applied to the measured data to decide exact radioactivity of the sample. Correction factors are obtained by measuring data using a standard source with the same geometry and chemical states as the sample under the same measurement conditions. However, it is very difficult to prepare standard concrete sources because concrete is limited in pretreatment due to various constituent materials and high density. In addition, the concrete sample obtained by core drill is a volumetric source, which requires geometric correction for sample diameter and self absorption correction for sample density. Therefore in recent years, many researchers are working on the calculation of effective correction factors using Monte carlo simulation instead of measuring them using a standard source. In this study we calculated, using Geant4, one of the Monte carlo codes, the correction factors for the various diameter and density of the concrete core sample at the gamma ray energy emitted from the nuclides 152Eu and 60Co, which are the most generated in radioactive concrete.

Color pictures on CPT are generally affected by the receiver characteristic and the condition of exterior illuminants. Moreover, readjustment of incorrect color in the CPT causes color distortion on a given picture. This paper describes a color adjustment method for modelling of CPT at the view point of observer in the ordinary lighting condition. To develop this method, we proposed ways of luminance recompensation under the gamma transformation for the intensity of illuminant, hue/saturation compensation for the types of illuminant and control of specific color for the reference. Based on these method, a color correlation system is suggested with the goal of reducing the color errors which are represented due to the influence of reflectance component of illuminants, the gamma transformation of CPT and the frequently adjustment of reference scene to set a optimum color.
