Ultrasensitive laser interferometer for precision measurement of small vibration displacement (고감도 레이저 간섭계를 이용한 미소 진동 진폭의 정밀측정)

  • Small vibration displacements may be measured by optical interferometers, based on the Michelson method. The standard Michelson interferometer works well when the mirror displacements are relatively large compared to the optical wavelength. But it does not work for displacements less than approximately a quater of optical wavelength. Several multiple reflection laser interferometers, simply modified standard Michelson interferometer, have been developed to decrease the minimum detectable limits. Among these a relatively simple and easy multiple reflection system is used to measure the small vibration displacements. This multiple reflection system is constructed with a right angle prism and a convex lens. Therefore this system makes it possible to measure a vibration displacement of the small area on the vibrating structure. The fringe interpolation method and curve fitting method are used to determine accurately the small vibration displacements from the measured interference fringe patterns. Also computer simulation technique is used to check the accuracies of these method. According to the results of the computer simulation technique, the curve fitting method is more accurate than the fringe interpolation method. The optically measured results are in good agreement with those of the standard accelerometer with high accuracy and it is possible to measure the peak vibration displacement as small as 9.01nm using multiple reflection system and curve fitting method.

  • In optical system, the signal and additive noise for statistical properties of a variety of ways to evaluate the performance of the system is essential for the optimization. In this paper, performance analysis of spectrum-sliced optical system in the optical pre-amplifier in the receiver the received signal by including the error limits for the bit that is, the bit error rate (BER: Bit Error Rate) required to maintain the average optical power represents the number of photons per bit is included in this paper to digital form, noticeable signal the receiver to calculate the sensitivity of the method for the calculation was performed. The general strength of the transmission of the modulated signal and digital signal transmission was required for the comparison of optical power. As shown in Figure 3, the general strength of the digital signal transmission system for transmitting a modulated signal compared with the case is improved by at least 10dB.

Soft Error Rate for High Density DRAM Cell (고집적 DRAM 셀에 대한 소프트 에러율)

  • A soft error rate for DRAM was predicted in connection with the leakage current in cell capacitor. The charge in cell capacitor was decreased during the DRAM operation, and soft error retes due to the leakage current were calculated in various operation mode of DRAM. It was found that the soft error rate of the /bit mode was dominant with small leakage current, but as increasing the leakage current memory mode shown the dominant effect on soft error rate. Using the 256M grade DRAM structure it was predicted that the soft error rate was influenced by the change of the cell capacitance, bit line capacitance, and the input voltage sensitivity of sense amplifier, and these results can be used to the design of the optimum cells in the next generation DRAM development.

Analysis of Magnetic Concentrator of Magnetic Sensor by Using Finite Element Method (유한요소법을 이용한 자기센서용 자속집속기의 해석)

  • In this study, magnetic concentrators which could be used to enhance sensitivity of Hall effect sensor were analyzed by using FEM. The parameters for FEM analysis were the thickness and edge shape of magnetic concentrator and relative position of magnetic concentrator against Hall element. Magnetic field in z direction decreased with increasing of the thickness of magnetic concentrator, of which tendency was similar to apparent relative permeability calculated with demagnetizing factor of magnetic concentrator. There were optimal thickness and edge shape of magnetic concentrator according to the relative position of magnetic concentrator against Hall element.

The Study of Bulk Emulsion Blends Consisting of Emulsion and ANFO (벌크 에멀젼 블랜드 폭약의 특성 고찰)

  • 국내에서는 Heavy ANFO로 더 잘 알려져 있는 Emulsion Blends는 왁스 대신 오일을 사용 하여 상온에서 펌핑이 가능하도록 한 에멀젼과 ANFO(또는 초안)의 혼합물을 일컫는다. ANFO는 저렴하고 안전하며 장약이 쉽고 밀장전되는 장점이 있지만, 내수성이 거의 없고 폭발 속도가 느리며 장약 비중이 0.75∼0.90g/cc 정도로 낮아 폭약으로서 그 위력이 작은 단점을 갖고 있다. Blends는 수용성 ANFO 입자 사이의 빈 공간을 내수성 에멀젼이 태우고 있는 형태로서 에멀젼 함량 25%부터 내수성이 나타나기 시작하여 에멀젼 함량 40% 이상에서는 완전한 내수성을 갖게 되며, 에멀젼의 함량이 증가할수록 폭발속도는 카트리지 에멀젼 폭약에 근접하게 된다. 장약 비중은 에멀젼의 함량이 증가하여 45% 근처에서 1.25∼ 1.30g/cc의 최대 값을 갖지만, 그 이상의 에멀젼 함량에서는 기폭 감도 저하로 예감제를 사용하여 비중을 감소시키는 것이 바람직하다. Blends는 자체에 물을 함유하고 있으므로 열역학적으로 계산된 단위 중량당 반응열은 ANFO에 비해 매우 적지만, 폭발속도, detonation pressure(폭굉압), borehole pressure(폭발압력) 등이 ANFO에 비해 크므로 폭발압력에서부터 암석의 파괴가 가능한 압력가지의 단위 중량당 유효한 에너지의 양은 암석의 강도가 커질수록 ANFO에 비해 매우 적지만, 폭발속도, ANFO와 비슷해진다. 따라서 장약 비중이 ANFO의 130∼145%로 높은 Blends는 동일한 천공에 더 많이 장약할 수 있어 단위 천공당 암석 파괴에 이용되는 유효 에너지의 총 양이 커지게 되므로, 공간격과 저항선을 늘릴 수 있어 총 천공수를 감소시킬 수 있다. 결론적으로, Blends의 장점은 내수성과 함께 비장약량은 비슷하거나 약간 증가하는데 비해, 천공수는 크게 감소하여 전체적으로는 발파 현장의 경제성이 향상된다는데 있다.

  • The stabilized Michelson interferometer was developed in order to measure micro dynamic displacement at the surface of solids due to elastic wave propagation. The stabilizer was designed to compensate light path disturbances using a reference mirror driven by piezoelectric actuator. Using stabilizer, the effect of external vibration was reduced and the quadrature condition was satisifed. As the results, the output of photodetector had maximum sensitivity and linearity. The minimum detectable displacement was 0.3nm at the band width of 10 MHz. The epicentral displacements due to the glass capillary breaks and the steel ball drop impact were measured using the developed interferometer and the results were compared with the calculated one.

  • In this paper, we present an image coder using variable quantizer for newly proposed JPEG extensions which has been standardized as ISO/IEC 10918-3(ITU-T Rec. T.84). It is necessary to alleviate the blocking artifact which is more sensitive to human eye in view of the spatial frequency sensitivity. The blocking artifact arises in the lower activity area rather than in the higher area. Therefore variable quantizer use the horizontal and vertical derivatives for calculating the $8{\times}8$ block activity. We classified nonlinear quantizer parameter into 5 categories in order to finely quantize in the lower active region. As a result of simulation for various images, the proposed coder increases subjective and objective quality at a given bit rate.

  • Characteristics of a piezoelectric material are evaluated to pick up the optimal crystal cut and propagation direction for a SAW device. For the piezoelectric single crystal $LiTaO_4$, such items are investigated as the Rayleigh wave velocity, the electromechanical coupling factor, the surface permittivity, the frequency-temperature coefficient, the air loading attenuation, the pure mode propagation, the beam steering and the misalignment sensitivity. Theoretical calculations reveal that Y-cut and Z-propagation is the optimal SAW propagation path. The results are confirmed through experiments. The method empolyed in this paper is applicable to other crystals, too, either single or poly crystals.

Study on Aging Characteristics of Exploding Foil Initiator (고전압 기폭관의 노화 특성 연구)

  • The aging characteristics of exploding foil initiator (EFI) are studied. In order to observe the aging characteristics, the main components of the exploding foil initiator were classified and the failure mechanism was defined. The aging characteristics were defined in terms of power and sensitivity, and the accelerated aging test plan was established based on the activation energy calculated by HFC (Heat Flow Calorimetry) and Arrhenius theory. The performance variation was observed using the sensitivity test (Neyer test) and power test (Dent test) for the aged samples. The aging characteristic was observed on the mean exploding point of the sensitivity test, but long-enough life span was predicted considering the related specification.

  • We present the sensitivity calculation results for observing the Cosmic Infrared Background (CIRB) by the Multi-purpose IR Imaging System (MIRIS), which will be launched in 2010 as a main payload of the Science and Technology Satellite 3 (STSAT-3). MIRIS will observe in I ($0.9{\sim}1.2um$) and H ($1.2{\sim}2.0um$) band with a $4{\times}4$ degree field of view to obtain the large scale structure (${\sim}3$ degree) of the CIRB. With the given specifications of the MIRIS, our sensitivity calculation results show that the MIRIS has a detection limit of ${\sim}9\;nW\;m^{-2}\;sr^{-1}$ (I band) and ${\sim}6\;nW\;m^{-2}\;sr^{-1}$ (H band), which is appropriate to observe the large scale structure of CIRB.
