This study aimed to review and summarize the trends in research pertaining to the compassion satisfaction of nurses in Korea and to make suggestions for future research. For this study, RISS, KISS, NDSL, and National assembly library databases were searched using the key words 'nurse' and 'compassion satisfaction' or 'professional quality of life' and 'nurse'. Eighteen papers on compassion satisfaction of nurses were reviewed. This was a non-experimental study (100%), and included hospital nurses (100%). The general characteristics of interest pertaining to compassion satisfaction were age, position, career, educational status, and etc. The variables with respect to compassion satisfaction were burn out, compassion fatigue, job satisfaction, resilience, and etc. The findings of this study provide preliminary data on research trends in the compassion satisfaction of nurses. Nursing managers need to maximize strategies to enhance compassion satisfaction of nurses. A qualitative study and a development of a program focused on compassion satisfaction are recommended for future research.

This study aimed to identify the mediating effect of nurse's communication on the relationship between nursing needs and nursing satisfaction in hospital patients. After IRB approval, this study was performed by administering questionnaires to 180 university hospital patients between April and June, 2017. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS 22.0. The average score of nurse's communication, nursing needs, and nursing satisfaction were $3.88{\pm}0.52$, $3.96{\pm}0.55$, and $3.74{\pm}0.59$ out of 5, respectively. There were significant differences in educational and therapeutic needs versus satisfaction. As for nurse's communication and nursing satisfaction, there were significant differences by patient's room. There were positive correlations among nurse's communication and nursing needs (r=.286, p<.001) as well as nurse's communication and nursing satisfaction (r=.524, p<.001), In addition, there were positive correlations between nursing needs and satisfaction (r=.488, p<.001). Nursing communication had a partial mediating effect between nursing needs and satisfaction, which showed significance in Sobel's test (Z=2.450, p=.014). Therefore, it is suggested that a continuous program for strengthening communication of hospital nurses is needed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate parent expectation and satisfaction with respect to pediatric inpatient care and to identify the variables related to parent satisfaction. Methods: The study was conducted in pediatric wards of a tertiary children's hospital in Korea. The participants were 361 parents of children who were inpatients. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire (The Pediatric Family Satisfaction Questionnaire) at the time of discharge. Results: The highest parent expectation domain was medical service. The parents were most satisfied with nursing service and least satisfied with general hospital service and accommodation. The parents expressed lower satisfaction with hospital facilities, equipment, noise, cleanliness, and communication by health care professionals. Parents with younger children reported higher expectation from the complete hospital service and those who had a longer length of stay reported higher expectation from the nursing service. Conclusion: To improve the quality of hospital services, we need to understand parent expectation and improve and provide clear communication. In addition, the general hospital service and accommodation should not be overlooked for improvement.

This study compared nursing service satisfaction and revisit intention of comprehensive nursing care unit and general care unit patients and confirmed the impact of nursing service satisfaction on revisit intention. We used data from 201 survey questionnaires collected from four general hospitals located in B-metropolitan area. Data were collected from Jun 1 to 30, 2019. The data were analyzed using x2-test, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression. The results show that nursing service satisfaction was significantly higher in patients admitted to the comprehensive nursing care unit than in the general care unit. There was a significant correlation in increased nursing service satisfaction being associated with increased revisit intention. Among subcategories of nursing service satisfaction, Empathy and Tangibles were cited by 56% of the comprehensive nursing care unit and 40% of the general care unit. As a result of this study, it is necessary to prepare a nursing system that can continuously monitor nursing service satisfaction in order to increase hospital revisit intention and expand the implementation of a comprehensive nursing care unit system.
