  • This study is a descriptive research study conducted to understand the effects of hospital nurses' COVID-19 risk perception, media dependence, government trust, resilience, and Socio-psychological stress on COVID-19 prevention behavior. Data were collected from 200 nurses at university hospitals, and the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 24.0 program. The average age of the subjects was 29.8 years old, the hospital experience was 6.6 years, and the prevention of COVID-19 was high with 4.3 points. COVID-19 prevention behavior showed positive correlation with COVID-19 risk perception, resilience, and media dependence and negative correlation with socio-psychological stress. Factors influencing COVID-19 prevention behavior were COVID-19 risk perception, resilience, socio-psychological stress, and media dependence. To ensure that hospital nurses' COVID-19 prevention behaviors can be continued, it is necessary to appropriately manage COVID-19 risk perception and media dependence, and to develop and apply an intervention program to strengthen resilience and reduce socio-psychological stress.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in the frequency and importance of basic nursing practice between comprehensive nursing care service wards and general wards and to provide basic data for the efficient of services. The subjects of this study were 99 comprehensive nursing care service and 90 general wards. Data were collected from February 1 to 28, 2018 and analyzed using a t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Scheffe test. The results showed that the frequency of basic nursing practice was higher by 2.43, and there were significant differences in personal hygiene, nutrition and excretion, exercise & activity. The recognition of the importance of basic nursing was high in both groups, but comprehensive nursing care service wards were slightly higher at 4.24 points. However, as the frequency of practice is lower than the recognition of the importance of basic nursing, a method to increase the frequency of practice is necessary. These results suggest that comprehensive nursing care service wards should provide appropriate nursing staff and system development so the nurses can provide care service as professionals.

The participants were 181 nurses working in six geriatric hospitals located in Seoul and Gyonggi Province, Korea. Data were gathered from July 16 to August 1, 2015. The data were analyzed using ANOVA, t-test, Duncan test, and logistic regression. Death perception of geriatric hospital nurses had an average score of 4.30, spiritual well-being 3.40, and terminal care stress 3.84. Terminal care stress in relation to general characteristics showed a meaningful difference in religion and total clinical career. The terminal care stress level was divided into two groups using average score as a standard, and the results revealed that spiritual well-being had a significant impact on terminal care stress of geriatric hospital nurses. These factors need to be considered when developing an educational program to reduce terminal care stress of nurses working in a geriatric hospital.

  • Purpose: Although a Do-Not-Resuscitate (DNR) order is widely in use, it is one of the challenging issues in end-of-life care. This study was conducted to investigate attitudes toward DNR according to education and clinical experience. Methods: Data were collected using a structured questionnaire comprising 30 items in a tertiary hospital in Seoul, Korea. Results: Participants were 238 nurses and 72 physicians. Most participants (99%) agreed to the necessity of DNR for reasons such as dignified death (52%), irreversible medical condition (23%) and patients' autonomy in decision making (19%). Among all, 33% participants had received education about DNR and 87% had DNR experience. According to participants' clinical DNR experience, their attitudes toward DNR significantly differed in terms of the necessity of DNR, timing of the DNR consent and post-DNR treatments including antibiotics. However, when participants were grouped by the level of DNR education, no significant difference was observed except in the timing of the DNR consent. Conclusion: This study suggests that the attitudes toward DNR were more affected by clinical experience of DNR rather than education. Therefore, DNR education programs should involve clinical settings.

As a result of the study, JI was positively correlated with NWE or PE, PE was positively correlated with NWE. PE was found to partially mediate the effect of NWE on JI. In order to help nurses in small- and medium-sized hospital operating rooms to positively recognize the NWE and immerse themselves in the job, it is necessary to develop convergence program to increase PE.
