  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of a gerontological nursing clinical practice course using action learning on undergraduate nursing students. The subjects were 75 undergraduate nursing students from Y University. Data were analyzed using SPSS/Win 21.0. There were significant improvements in problem solving (t=3.58, p<.001) and communication (t=4.15, p<.000) in the experimental group compared to the control group. This study provides evidence that gerontological nursing courses improve undergraduate nursing students' problem solving and communication skills. Accordingly, this course would be a useful teaching and learning method in nursing programs of outcome based curriculum.

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm the effect of the Havruta-based teaching and learning method on the academic self-efficacy, critical thinking tendency, learning satisfaction, and academic stress of nursing students. This study was conducted with 90 2nd graders of nursing department with one-group pretest-posttest design. The Havruta-based instructional design consists of five stages: the 1 stage is the pre-learning stage, the 2 stage is the introduction and development stage, the 3 stage is the organization of the class content, the 4 stage is the question and teaching stage, and the 5 stage is organized and integrated. Four weeks of Havruta-based teaching and learning method was applied. The data were analyzed by SPSS 25.0. The general characteristics of the subjects were frequency and percentage, and The dependent variable for measuring the effect of experimental treatment was analyzed by paired t-test. As a result of the study, the application of the Havruta-based teaching and learning method showed statistically significant results on academic self-efficacy(t=-3.711, p<.000), learning satisfaction(t=-2.580, p=.012), and academic stress(t=6.500, p<.000). The Havruta-based teaching and learning method has been confirmed to be an effective teaching method that increases the subject's academic self-efficacy, learning satisfaction, and lowers academic stress, so it can be applied to other major subjects in the future.

  • This study was conducted to identify the relation between sense of coherence and academic stress in nursing students. Data were collected from 248 nursing students using self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS WIN18.0. There was a significant correlation between sense of coherence and academic stress. Major satisfaction, friends relationship and comprehensibility as a subcategory of sense of coherence accounted for 31.3% of the variance in academic stress. In conclusion, these results indicate that we should search strategies for improvement of teaching method to heighten the major satisfaction, enforcement of sense of coherence, and development of counseling program to reduce academic stress among nursing students.

  • This study was attempted to determine the satisfaction of nursing students' online classes in the situation of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to identify factors affect it. This study conducted a survey on nursing students 220 in Daegu-Gyeongbuk area for a month in April 2021. The collected data were subjected to t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression analysis. As a result of analyzing the factors affecting the online class satisfaction of nursing students, the learner factor (β=.29, p<.001) and the system factor (β=.51, p<.001) had a statistically significant effect, the variable with the greatest relative influence was the system factor. As online classes are expected to expand even after the end of COVID-19, for a change to education that can increase the satisfaction of learners, through the development of an online operating system suitable for learning and establishing a foundation for learners to learn independently A paradigm shift in nursing education is necessary.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the convergence between ego-resilience, major satisfaction and clinical competency of nursing students. This study used data from 183 nursing college students who experienced clinical practice at a college located in G city of Korea. Clinical competency was positively correlated with ego-resilience (r = .446, p <.000), major satisfaction (r = .439, p <.000). The factors influencing clinical competency were ego - resilience and major satisfaction, and explanatory power was 29.1%. Based on the above results, it is necessary to improve the convergence education program and diversify the teaching and learning methods to improve the major satisfaction, ego - resilience and clinical competency of nursing students.
