Diagnostic Imaging of Liver Cirrhosis in a Shih-Tzu Dog (시츄견에서 발생한 간경화의 영상 진단)

  • A 5-year-old, intact female Shih-Tzu dog was presented with 1 year history of icterus, ascites and anorexia. The serum biochemistry revealed elevated liver enzyme levels. Microhepatica and decreased serosal detail were detected in abdominal radiography. Abdominal ultrasonographic findings included irregular liver margins, multifocal hypoechoic nodules in the liver parenchyma, and ascites. Computed tomography (CT) showed multifocal hypodense nodules with ring-like contrast enhancement. Cytologic and histopathologic examination by liver core biopsy revealed fibrosis. Cirrhosis was diagnosed based on above results. This report focuses on the imaging characteristics of ultrasonography and CT for liver cirrhosis in a dog.

Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Splenic Enlargement Using Wave Pattern of Spleen in Abdominal CT Images (복부 CT 영상에서 비장의 웨이브 형태를 이용한 비장 비대의 자동 진단)

  • Generally, it is known that the spleen accompanied by liver cirrhosis is hypertrophied or enlarged. We examined the wave pattern of the spleen by using abdominal CT images of a patient with liver cirrhosis, and found that they are different from those of a person with a normal liver In the abdominal CT image of the patient with liver cirrhosis, there is a deep wave part on the left side of the spleen. In the case of the normal liver, there are waves on the left side, but they aren't deep. Therefore, the total area of waving parts of the spleen with liver cirrhosis is found to be greater than that of the spleen with the normal liver. Moreover, when examining circularity by abstracting the waves of the spleen from the image iO liver cirrhosis, we found they are more circular than those of the spleen accompanied by a normal liver. This paper suggests an automatic method to diagnose splenic enlargement by using the wave pattern of the spleen in abdominal CT images on the basis of the two principles. It tells us that we can judge if the abdomen has a focal splenic enlargement automatically, without the manual test of the size of spleen, only with the shape of spleen.

  • 우리나라의 주력산업인 반도체 및 디스플레이의 경우 그 생산 설비의 1/3이상이 진공 장비이며 진공 공정을 통해 만들어진다. 이들 산업 분야에서는 우리나라가 세계 최고의 생산 기술을 가지고 있으므로 자체적인 기술 개발 확보가 중요하다. 최근에는 기존에 개발되어 있는 장비의 성능을 뛰어넘어야 하는 공정 기술력이 요구되면서, 진공 공정 기술 개발이 매우 중요한 이슈가 되었다. 반도체나 디스플레이 산업 등 기존 주력산업의 전후방 산업의 경쟁력 강화 측면에서뿐 아니라 태양전지, LED 등 진공기술을 이용한 신성장 동력 산업의 생산 시스템 경쟁력 확보 측면에서도 진공 공정 기술 개발 중요성은 매우 크다. 지금까지 양산에 적용되는 증착, 식각, 확산 등 진공 공정 운영은, 사전 시험을 통해 얻은 최적 공정의 입력 파라미터들을 정해 놓고 그대로 공정을 진행한 뒤, 생산되어 나오는 제품의 상태를 사후 측정하여 공정 이상 여부를 점검하고 미세 조정하는 형태로 진행되고 있다. 실질적으로 현재 진행 중인 진공 공정에 대한 직접적인 정보가 없으므로 공정 중 발생되는 문제들에 대한 대처는 그 공정이 끝난 후에 이루어지는 상황이다. 공정 미세화 및 대구경화에 따라 기존의 wafer to wafer 제어 개념 보다 발전된 개념으로 센서 기반 실시간 공정 진단 제어 기술의 필요성이 대두되었으며 이를 위한 오류 인식 및 예지기술 (Fault Detection & Classification, FDC) 그리고 이 정보를 이용한 첨단 제어 기술(Advanced Process Control, APC)을 개발하는 노력들이 시작되었다. 한국표준과학연구원에서는 수요기업인 대기업과 장비업체, 센서 개발 중소기업 및 학교 연구소와 공동으로 진공 공정 실시간 측정 진단 제어와 관련된 연구를 하고 있다. 진공 공정 환경측정 기술, 플라즈마 상태 측정 기술, 진공 공정 중 발생하는 오염입자 측정 원천 기술 개발과 이를 구현하기 위한 센서 개발, 화학 증착 소스 및 진공 공정 부품용 소재에 대한 평가 플랫폼 구축, 배기 시스템 진단기술 개발 등 현재 진행되고 있는 기술 개발 내용과 동향을 소개한다. 진공 공정 실시간 측정 기술이 확보되면 차세대 반도체 제작에 필요한 정밀 공정 제어가 가능해지고, 공정 이상에 바로 대응 혹은 예방 할 수 있으며, 여유분으로 필요 이상으로 투입되던 자원(대기시간, 투입 재료, 대체용 장비)을 절감하는 등 생산성을 향상을 기대할 수 있다. 또한 진공 환경에서 이루어지는 박막 증착, 식각 공정 과정에 대한 이해가 높아지고, 공정을 개발하고 최적화하는데 유용한 정보를 제공할 수 있으므로, 기존 장비와 차별화된 경쟁력을 가진 고품위 진공 장비 및 부품 개발에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

An Efficient Diagnosis Algorithm for Multiple Stuck-at Faults (다중 고착 고장을 위한 효율적인 고장 진단 알고리듬)

  • With the increasing complexity of VLSI devices, more complex faults have appeared. Many methods for diagnosing the single stuck-at fault have been studied. Often multiple defects on a foiling chip better reflect the reality. So, we propose an efficient diagnosis algorithm for multiple stuck-at faults. By using vectorwise intersections as an important metric of diagnosis, the proposed algorithm can diagnose multiple defects using single stuck-at fault simulator. In spite of multiple fault diagnosis, the number of candidate faults is also drastically reduced. For fault identification, positive calculations and negative calculations based on variable weights are used for the matching algorithm. Experimental results for ISCAS85 and full-scan version of ISCAS89 benchmark circuits prove the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

A Study on Defect Diagnostics of Gas-Turbine Engine on Off-Design Condition Using Genetic Algorithms (유전 알고리즘을 이용한 탈 설계 영역에서의 항공기용 가스터빈 엔진 결함 진단)

  • In this study, the genetic algorithm has been used for the real-time defect diagnosis on the operation of the aircraft gas-turbine engine. The component elements of the gas-turbine engine for consideriation of the performance deterioration is consist of the compressor, the gas generation turbine and the power turbine, repectively. Compared to the on-design point on the sea-level condition, the learning data has been increased 200 times in case of the off-design conditions for the altitude, the flight mach number and the fuel consumption. Therefore, enormous learning time has been required for the satisfied convergence. The optimum division has been proposed to decrease learning time as well as to obtain high accuracy. As results, the RMS errors of the defect diagnosis using the genetic algorithm have been estimated under 5 %.

  • Because most of vehicle provide users with the very limited information regarding the performance of vehicle, it is quite difficult for users to drive vehicles safe, and to maintain and repair vehicles properly. In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, several ways of research and development for the vehicle control and diagnosis system have been recently carried out. However, a lot of complicated problems and difficulties were arising due to the complexity of the developed system, degradation of the reliability for the vehicle performance control system, operational malfunction and so on. In this paper, for the purpose of solving the difficult problems and technical limitations, a system for vehicle performance which might be able to diagnose the reliability of vehicle performance by measuring and analyzing the real time performance of vehicle using the satellite telemetry technology was conmance oly defined and deehiced.hihe results derived from the cormance ofdvehiclactivities in this study shall be used as not only fundamental data but also materials for the detailed design for the implementation of vehicle performance diagnosis system in the near future.

  • 최근 기상이변으로 인한 자연재해 발생이 증가하고 있고, 그에 따라 도시의 재난 대응력 강화가 국내에서는 물론 국제적으로도 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 특히 쇠퇴지역은 재난재해 발생 시 인적·물적 피해가 일반 지역 보다 상대적으로 크며, 복구에도 많은 시간과 예산이 소요되므로 대응책 마련을 위한 도시재생지역의 정밀한 재난재해의 위험성 분석 기술이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 도시재생사업 대상지(311개)에 대한 재난재해 유형별 위험성 및 회복성을 종합적으로 분석하는 종합진단 기법을 개발하고, 이를 적용한 프로토타입 시스템을 개발하였다. 재난재해의 범위는 「재난 및 안전관리 기본법」을 준용하여 이에 도시재생사업 시행에 영향을 받아 재난재해 발생에 따른 위험정도가 변화할 가능성이 높은 자연재해 (폭우, 폭염, 폭설, 강풍, 지진)5종과 사회재난 (화재, 붕괴, 폭발) 3종 총 8종으로 정의하였다. 종합진단 기법은 기후변화에 관한 정부간 협의체(IPCC) 위험도 평가 방법을 준용하여 위험요소 (위해성·취약성·노출성)와 대비·대응요소 (회복성)로 구분하고, 전문가 자문회의를 거쳐 재난재해에 특히 취약한 쇠퇴지역의 특성을 반영할 수 있는 종합진단지수 산정식을 개발하였다. 또한 쇠퇴지역 재난재해 종합진단 시스템은 도시재생 업무를 수행하는 사용자가 신속히 정보를 분석하고 활용에 용이하도록 Web-GIS 기반으로 설계하였으며, 종합진단 기법에 의해 산정된 분석결과를 100m × 100m 격자 단위의 등급으로 가시화한다. 분석 결과는 지속적인 연구 개발을 통해 최적의 도시재생사업 의사결정 지원 서비스를 위한 기초 분석 자료로 연계하여 활용되며, 분석 DB는 클라우드 서비스 기반의 도시재생 데이터 플랫폼을 통해 공유된다.

  • This experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of improvement of soil physical property such as deep plowing and chiseling and diagnostic application of N, P, K fetilizers. Latex Coated Urea(LCU), compost, sillicate for increasing yielding and enchancing N-use efficiency in puddled-soil drill seeding of Rice. The soil physical properties, such as bulk density, hardness and porosity were increased by deep plowing and chiseling, as well as chemical propeties were highly enhanced soil productivity due to increase the content of organic matter, available $P_2O_5$ and K as compare with control. The amount of $NH_4-N$ in soil was highly increased by diagnostic fertilization and chiseling, while recovery rate of V fertilizer was the highest at LCU 80% applied with chiseling. The rice yield increased by 23% under the diagnositic application of LCU 80% applied base with chiseling.

  • Various adult diseases (cerebral apoplexy, athymiait, etc.) result from hypertension, blood circulation disturbance and increment of HBP. In early diagnosis of these diseases, MRI, X-ray and PET have been used rather aim for treatment than for a prevention of disease. Since. cerebral apoplexy and athymiait could appear to the regular/irregular persons, it is very important to measure HBP which has connection with cerebral blood flow state. HBP has more diagnosis elements than that of BP. So, we can diagnose accurate hypertension by measuring of HBP. But, existing sphygmomanometers and automatic BP monitors can not measure HBP, and can not execute complex function(measuring of BP/HBP, blood flow improvement). Purpose of this paper is to develop a system and algorithm which can measure BP/HBP for accurate diagnosis. Also, we extracted diagnosis factors by correlativity analysis of BP/HBP. Maximum pressure of HBP corresponds to 62% that of BP, Minimum pressure of HBP corresponds to 46% that of BP. Therefore, we developed the multi-function automatic blood pressure monitor which can measure BP/HBP and improve cerebral blood flow state.

Clinical Analysis of Intussusception Delayed in the Final Diagnosis (발병 초기에 진단하지 못한 장중첩증에 관한 고찰)

  • Purpose: In this study, we tried to evaluate the clinical characteristics or circumstances that lead to unintentionally the delay in the diagnosis of intussusception or to the wrong direction that prevent the proper management early. Methods: All the patients of intussusception with delayed diagnosis in the department of pediatrics or emergency room at Gyeongsang National University Hospital from 1990 to 2003 were enrolled and reviewed retrospectively. Results: There were 8 boys and 6 girls and their median age was 8 months (range 2 months to 10 years). Their initial symptoms and signs were vomiting, seizure, diarrhea, lethargy, irritability, bloody stool, palpable abdominal mass, foul odor of urine and tachycardia. Clinical diagnosis or impressions at admission consisted of acute gastroenteritis, shigellosis and toxic encephalopathy, convulsive disorders, urinary tract infections, sepsis, abdominal mass and intestinal obstruction. Eight patients were luckily diagnosed due to the delayed manifestations of cyclic irritability or currant jelly stool. Six patients were not paid attentions for the possibilities of intussusception and diagnosed serendipitiously by the abdominal sonography or CT during the evaluation of the abdominal mass or distension. Only five of 14 cases (35.7%) were successfully managed by barium or air reductions. The other 9 cases needed surgical operations. Conclusion: Delayed diagnosis of intussusception arise when doctors initially diagnose the patients incorrectly due to the unusual presentations or when they overlook the newly arising symptoms or signs suggestive intussusception after the admission because they are ardently attached to the first impressions or initial clinical diagnosis.
