  • This study investigated the relationship of demographic and psychological variables with job and family-related stress among 293 employed wives. We found that age, job types, working in weekend, and family cohesion significantly contributed to the explanation of job-related stress. We also found that job types, working in weekend, family adaptation, family cohesion, and employment motivation significantly contributed to explaining the variation of family-related stress. Job-related stress was more explained by demographic variables than psychological ones, whereas family-related stress was more explained by psychological variables than demographic ones. Practical implications of the current findings were discussed.

  • The purpose of this convergence study was to evaluate and to identify predictors of health-related quality of life(HRQoL) of families with cancer survivor(FCS) focusing on the comparison of families with cancer patient(FCP) receiving treatments. The research was conducted with the data for 153 FCS and 115 FCP taken from the 6th wave of the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The independent variables included socio-demographic, health related, psychological and social factors. The data were analyzed by hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 18.0. The results showed different patterns of predictors on the HRQoL of FCS and FCP. In FCS, the statistically significant factors were stress(${\beta}=-.192$, p<.05) and exclusion from economic activities(${\beta}=-.191$, p<.05). Therefore, families of cancer patients also need appropriate interventions for each stage of the disease.

  • The present study analyzed the KOCCA's Game Immersion data to explore the relationship between psychological traits and game immersion. Psychological traits were classified into four categories; emotional stability, self-esteem, willpower, and happiness. These were put into the multiple regression analysis as the dependent variables with age, sex (dummy), economic status of the homes, variety of leisure activities, friend and family relationship, and time to play games. Four types of immersion (psychological unstability, bad relationship, interrupted daily lives, and failure to control game time and desire) were put into the multiple regression analysis as the independent variables. The multiple regression analysis indicated that the dependent variables predicted the game immersion. Among the psychological traits emotional stability was the strongest factor (negative) that influences the game immersion. Next powerful indicator (negative) among the psychological traits was self-esteem. Based on the findings, measures to alleviate the problems of game immersion and ideas for further research were suggested.

  • The abuses on the people with disabilities reported through mass media are, in most cases, related to intellectually disabled people, who are vulnerable to abuse. Nevertheless, the actual condition of the abuses on the intellectually disabled people that had remained unrevealed was examined according to socio-demographic variables, social support network, the ability to perform daily activities, and the type of belonging of the handicapped in each age group. Based on these research results, it has been proposed to operate a rest program for their guardians as main caretakers, to improve the education and evaluation programs for activity assistants, and to enhance the quality of integration.
