A Study on High-Temperature Fuel Injection Characteristics through Swirl Injectors (스월 인젝터를 통한 고온 연료의 분사특성 연구)

  • An experimental study was conducted to investigate fuel injection characteristics through swirl injectors when the fuel was heated to very high temperature conditions. Three swirl injectors with different orifice diameters and swirler geometries were used to measure the flow coefficient (${\alpha}$) for the injection pressure ranges between 3 and 10 bar and the fuel temperature from 50 to $270^{\circ}C$. The results showed that the variation characteristics of ${\alpha}$ with respect to cavitation number ($K_c$) were highly dependent on both the orifice diameter and the swirler geometry. In addition, the characteristics of ${\alpha}$ variation with respect to AR, the area ratio of the flow through the swirler and the orifice, has revealed that the effect of boiling is retarded but the slope of decreasing ${\alpha}$ after the boiling effect is present tumbles as AR increases.

  • 1Gb급 이상 기억소자의 캐패시터 재료로 주목받고 있는 (Ba,Sr)TiO3 [BST] 박막의 전극재료로는 Pt, Ru, Ir과 같은 금속전극과 RuO2, IrO2와 산화물 전도체가 유망한 것으로 알려져 있다. 그런데, DRAM의 집적도가 증가하게 되면, BST같은 고유전율 박막을 유전재료로 사용한다 하더라도, 3차원적인 구조가 불가피하게 때문에 기존의 sputtering 방법으로는 우수한 단차피복성을 얻기 힘들므로, MOCVD법이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 기존에 연구되었던 Pt에 비해 식각특성이 우수하고, 비교적 낮은 비저항을 갖는 Ru 박막증착에 대한 연구를 행하였다. 본 연구에서는 수직형의 반응기와 저항 가열 방식의 susceptor로 구성된 저압 유기금속 화학증착기를 사용하여 최대 6inch 직경을 갖는 기판 위에 Ru박막을 증착하였다. Precursor로는 기존에 연구된 적이 없는 bis-(ethyo-$\pi$-cyclopentadienyl)Ru (Ru(C5H4C2H5)2, [Ru(EtCp)2])를 사용하였으며, bubbler의 온도는 85$^{\circ}C$로 하였다. Si, SiO2/Si를 사용하였으며, 증착온도 25$0^{\circ}C$~40$0^{\circ}C$, 증착압력 3Torr의 조건에서 Ru 박막을 증착하였다. Presursor를 운반하는 수송기체로는 Ar을 사용하였으며, carbon과 같은 불순물의 제거를 위해 O2를 첨가하였다. 증착된 박막은 XRD, SEM, 4-point probe등을 통해 구조적, 전기적 특성을 평가하였으며, 열역학 계산을 위해서는 SOLGASMIX-PV프로그램을 사용하였다. Ru 박막의 증착에 있어서 산소의 첨가는 필수적이었으며, Ru 박막의 증착속도는 30$0^{\circ}C$~40$0^{\circ}C$의 온도 영역에서 200$\AA$/min으로 일정하였으며, 첨가된 산소의 양이 적을수록 더 치밀하고 평탄한 표면형상을 보였으며, 또한 더 낮은 전기 전도도를 보였다. 그리고 증착된 박막은 12~15$\mu$$\Omega$cm 정도의 낮은 비저항 값을 나타냈으며 이것은 기존의 sputtering 법에 의해 증착된 Ru 박막의 비저항 값들과 비교될만하다. 한편, 높은 온도, 높은 산소분압 조건에서 RuO2의 형성을 관찰하였으며, 이것은 열역학적인 계산을 통해서 잘 설명할 수 있었다.

Effect of High Pressure Carbon Dioxide on Inactivation of Leuconostoc sp. (고압 이산화탄소에 의한 Leuconostoc sp.의 살균 효과)

  • Inactivation of Leuconostoc sp. isolated from kimchi using carbon dioxide under pressure was investigated in terms of operating parameters in order to evaluate its feasibility as a novel nonthermal process. Inactivation rates increased with increasing pressure, temperature and exposure time, but with decreasing working volume. Microbial reduction of 3 log cycles was achieved within 150 min under a $CO_2$ pressure of $60\;kg/cm^2$ at 30^{\circ}C$. It was confirmed that microbial inactivation by the high pressure $CO_2$ was governed essentially by the characteristic of $CO_2$ mass transfer and thus penetration of $CO_2$, into cells was a rate limiting step to determine efficiency of the inactivation process. The experimental results suggested that the high pressure $CO_2$ treatment could be used as one of the effective nonthermal methods for preserving foods.

Investigation of Combustion Properties for Using Safe Hydrogen (안전한 수소 이용을 위한 연소특성치 고찰)

  • For the safety design and operation of many gas process, it is necessary to know certain explosion limit, flash point, autoignition temperature (AIT) and minimum oxygen concentration of handling substances. Also it is necessary to know explosion limit at high temperature and pressure. In this study for the safe handling of hydrogen, explosion limit and AIT of combustion properties for hydrogen were investigated. By using the literatures data, the lower and upper explosion limits of hydrogen recommended 4.0 vol% and 77.0 vol%. Also the AIT of hydrogen with ignition sources recommended $400^{\circ}C$ at the electrically heated crucible furnace (the whole surface heating) and recommended $640^{\circ}C$ at the local hot surface. The new equations for predicting the temperature and the pressure dependence of the explosion limits of hydrogen are proposed. The values calculated by the proposed equations were a good agreement with the literature data.

Fluid Inclusions Trapped in Tourmaline from the Daeyou Pegmatite Deposit, Jangsu-Gun, Jeollabukdo (전북 장수군 대유 페그마타이트광산의 전기석에 포획된 유체포유물)

  • Four types of fluid inclusions are trapped within tourmaline from Daeyou pegmatite, Jangsu-Gun, Jeonllabukdo. They range $5{\sim}100\;{\mu}m$ in size and are grouped into I, II, III, and IV based on the phase behavior at the room temperature: (1) Type I inclusions are liquid-rich and NaCl equivalent salinity ranged $0{\sim}12\;wt%$, and the homogenization temperatures (Th) ranged $181{\sim}230^{\circ}C$ with eutectic temperatures (Te) $-54{\sim}-22^{\circ}C$. (2) Type II inclusions are vapor-rich and salinity ranged $3{\sim}8\;wt%$ NaCl, and Th ranged $177{\sim}304^{\circ}C$ also showing Te $-54{\sim}-29^{\circ}C$. (3) Type III inclusions contain a halite daughter mineral with $31{\sim}40\;wt%$ NaCl, Th $230{\sim}328^{\circ}C$. More than 90% of Type III homogenize by halite dissolution and are spatially associated with silicate melt inclusions. (4) Type IV inclusions are $CO_{2}$-bearing containing various daughter minerals such as sylvite and/or halite. The density of $CO_{2}$ system within the Type IV is $0.80{\sim}0.75\;g/cm^{3}$, Th $190{\sim}317^{\circ}C$, and salinity $2{\sim}35\;wt%$ NaCl. Type III fluid inclusions, considered as the earliest fluid, formed from the fluid exsolved from the crystallizing pegmatite. It is suggested that Type II fluid in the central part of tourmaline were exsolved earlier than Type I fluids in the margin indicating salinity fluctuation during the growth of tourmaline. It implies the fluctuation of the pressure since the salinity of fluid exsolved from the crystallizing melt is governed by the pressure. The last fluid was Type IV, which may be derived from the nearby limestone and metasedimentary rocks. It is suggested that Daeyou pegmatite containing muscovite without miarolitic cavities was formed by the partial melting resulted from the regional metamorphism. Subsequently, the exsolving fluids from the crystallizing melt were trapped in tourmaline at high pressure condition. The exsolved fluids contain various components such as $CaCl_{2}\;and\;MgCl_{2}$ as well as NaCl and KCl. The exsolution began at least at $2.7{\sim}5.3\;kbar\;and\;230{\sim}328^{\circ}C$ with the pressure fluctuation.

Effects of High Pressure Treatment on the Microbiological and Chemical Properties of Milk (초고압 처리가 우유의 미생물학적 및 이화학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • High pressure processing (HPP) is a non-thermal method used to prevent bacterial growth in the food industry. Currently, pasteurization is the most common method in use for most milk processing, but this has the disadvantage that it leads to changes in the milk's nutritional and chemical properties. Therefore, the effects of HPP treatment on the microbiological and chemical properties of milk were investigated in this study. With the treatment of HPP at 600 MPa and $15^{\circ}C$ for 3 min, the quantity of microorganisms and lactic acid bacteria were reduced to the level of 2-3 log CFU/ml, and coliforms were not detected during a storage period of 15 d at $4^{\circ}C$. An analysis of milk proteins, such as ${\alpha}$-casein, ${\beta}$-casein, ${\kappa}$-casein, ${\alpha}$-lactalbumin, ${\beta}$-lactoglobulin by on-chip electorophoresis revealed that the electrophoretic pattern of the proteins from HPP-treated milk was different from that of conventionally treated commercial milk. While the quantities of vitamins and minerals in HPP-treated milk were seen to be comparable to amounts found in raw milk, the enzyme activity of lipase, protease and alkaline phosphatase after HPP treatment was reduced. These results suggest that HPP treatment is a viable method for the control of undesirable microorganisms in milk, allowing for minimal nutritional and chemical changes in the milk during the process.

Stable Isotope and Fluid Inclusion Studies of the Daebong Gold-silver Deposit, Republic of Korea (대봉 금-은광상에 대한 유체포유물 및 안정동위원소 연구)

  • The Daebong gold-silver deposit consists of mesothermal massive quartz veins thar are filling the fractures along fault shear (NE, NW) Bones within banded or granitic gneiss of Precambrian Gyeonggi massif. Based on vein mineralogy, ore textures and paragenesis, ore mineralization of this deposits is composed of massive white quartz vein(stage I) which was formed in the same stage by multiple episodes of fracturing and healing, and transparent quartz vein(stage II) which is separated by a major faulting event. Stage I is divided into the 3 substages. Ore minerals of each substages are as follows: 1) early stage I=magnetite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, 2) middle stage I=pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, pyrite, marcasite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena, electrum and 3) late stage I=pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena, electrum, argentite, respectively. Ore minerals of the stage II are composed of pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena and electrum. Systematic studies (petrography and microthermometry) of fluid inclusions in stage I and II quartz veins show fluids from contrasting physical-chemical conditions: 1) $H_2O-CO_2-CH_4-NaCl{\pm}N-2$ fluid(early stage I=homogenization temperature: 203∼3$88^{\circ}C$, pressure: 1082∼2092 bar, salinity: 0.6∼13.4 wt.%, middle stage I=homogenization temperature: 215∼28$0^{\circ}C$, salinity: 0.2∼2.8 wt.%) related to the stage I sulfide deposition, 2) $H_2O-NaCl{\pm}CO_2$ fluid (late stage I=homogenization temperature: 205∼2$88^{\circ}C$, pressure: 670 bar, salinity: 4.5∼6.7 wt.%, stage II=homogenization temperature: 201-3$58^{\circ}C$, salinity: 0.4-4.2 wt.%) related to the late stage I and II sulfide deposition. $H_2O-CO_2-CH_4-NaCl{\pm}N_2$ fluid of early stage I is evolved to $H_2O-NaCl{\pm}CO_2$ fluid represented by the $CO_2$ unmixing due to decrease in fluid pressure and is diluted and cooled by the mixing of deep circulated meteoric waters ($H_2O$-NaCl fluid) possibly related to uplift and unloading of the mineralizing suites. $H_2O-NaCl{\pm}CO_2$ fluid of stage II was hotter than that of late stage I and occurred partly unmixing, mainly dilution and cooling for sulfide deposition. Calculated sulfur isotope compositions ({\gamma}^{34}S_{H2S}$) of hydrothermal fluids (3.5∼7.9%o) indicate that ore sulfur was derived from mainly an igneous source and partly sulfur of host rock. Measured and calculated oxygen and hydrogen isotope compositions ({\gamma}^{18}O_{H_2O}$, {\gamma}$D) of ore fluids (stage I: 1.1∼9.0$\textperthousand$, -92∼-86{\textperthansand}$, stage II: 0.3{\textperthansand}$, -93{\textperthansand}$) and ribbon-banded structure (graphitic lamination) indicate that mesothermal auriferous fluids of Daebong deposit were two different origin and their evolution. 1) Fluids of this deposit were likely mixtures of $H_2O$-rich, isotopically less evolved meteoric water and magmatic fluids and 2) were likely mixtures of $H_2O$-rich. isotopically heavier $\delta$D meteoric water and magmaticmetamorphic fluids.

Effect of Rice Straw Heated in Water or 0.25N-NaClO$_2$ on the Nutrient Utilization of Diets in Chicks (증류수 혹은 0.25N NaClO$_2$에서 가열한 볏짚의 가금에서의 영양소이용성에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to observe an effect of the components of rice straw on the utilization of nutrient in chicks, the rice straw of 100g were digested in 800$m\ell$ of distilled water or 0.25N NaClO$_2$ at 135 C and in the pressure of 3.2kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ by autoclave during 30, 60 and 120 minutes (water or NaClO$_2$-30, 60 and 120- RS). The contents of neutral detergent fiber(NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and lignin were analysed in the washed and dried rice straw meal. Hatched single comb white Leghorn male chicks were fed with a commercial chick mash for the first 10 days and five kinds of experimetal diets for the next 8 days which contained 17.0% of wheat bran (basal), cellulose(cotton meal), nontreated RS, water-30-RS and NaClO$_2$ 30-RS, respectively. The water-30, 60 and 120-RS baa leased 9.7, 12.1 and 13.3% of dry matter, respectively, while NaClO$_2$-30-RS had similar contents of dry matter loss with those of water-30-RS, and NaClO$_2$-60 and 120-RS had tossed 1.5 times of dry matter comparing with those of water-60 and 120-RS, respectively. And the dry matter loss of the water-RS or NaClO$_2$-RS was mainly originated front the extractable cell contents and hemicellulose of the non-treated RS. Birds fed water-30-RS diets had higher body weight gain and lower feed conversion than those of birds fed non-treated and NaClO$_2$-30-RS diets during 8 days of experimental feeding. Also nitrogen balance and retention rate of birds fed water -30-RS was higher comparing with those of birds non-treated and NaClO$_2$-30-RS. And digestibility of crude fat had been shown a highering trend in birds water-30-RS. The rate of metabolizable energy (MEn) to gross energy (GE) of birds fed non-treated RS, water-30-RS and NaClO$_2$30-RS diets were 71.9, 72.9 and 70.4%, respectively, and energy intake per metaboic body size (kg 0.75) were reached to 307.3, 296.2 and 291.4 kcal per day, respectively. And daily protein retention per kg 0.75 were 1.647, 1.969 and 1.560g, respectively. Then 30.56kcal of MEn required for 1 g of protein retention in birds fed water-30-RS, which was lower thu 36.90 and 37.56 kcal of birds fed non-treated and NaClO$_2$-30- RS, respectively. The results seems to indicate that non-treated rice straw had a substance or characters which affect the energy unilization or protein retention of diets and which will be eliminated by boiling in water.

Effect of Addition of Phosvitin and High Pressure Processing on Microbiological Quality and Lipid and Protein Oxidation of Minced Chicken Leg Meat (닭 다리 분쇄육에 초고압 처리시 Phosvitin의 첨가가 미생물학적 품질과 지방 및 단백질 산화에 미치는 효과)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of high pressure (HP) processing on shelf life, as well as the addition of phosvitin on lipid and protein oxidation stability of minced chicken leg meat. Minced chicken leg meat was mixed with yolk phosvitin at 500 or 1000 mg/kg meat levels, and divided into raw and cooked groups. Then, the samples were subjected to HP at 0.1, 300, and 600 MPa. The total aerobic bacteria, lipid and protein oxidation, along with instrumental meat color ($L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$value) of the samples were measured during storage for 7 d at $4^{\circ}C$. In raw meat, the number of total aerobic bacteria was decreased by HP at 300 MPa (4 Log reductions) and 600 MPa (5 Log reductions) after 7 d of storage (p<0.05). HP at 600 MPa increased lipid oxidation of samples at all storage days and protein oxidation of samples during storage at 3 and 7 d. HP induced the changes of meat color by increase of $L^*$ value and decrease of $a^*$ value (p<0.05). The total aerobic bacteria was not detected in the cooked samples, regardless of HP pressure, and the lipid or protein oxidation of the cooked sample treated by 600 MPa was higher than that of the control (0.1 MPa) on day 7 or control on day 3, respectively (p<0.05). The results suggested that HP can improve the shelf life of minced chicken leg meat. However, phosvitin might be a limited antioxidative agent for the improvement of oxidation stability induced by HP.

Development of Heated-Air Dryer for Agricultural Waste Using Waste Heat of Incineration Plant (소각장 폐열을 활용한 농업폐기물 열풍 건조장치 개발)

  • To manufacturing of solid fuel by reuse of the wastes, the drying unit which have 500 kg/hr of drying capacity was developed and experimentally evaluate the performance. The spinach grown in Nam-hae island were used for the experiments and investigated of the heated-air drying characteristics as the inlet amount of raw materials, raw material stirring status, conveying type and drying time. The drying air heated by the energy derived from the steam which is supplied from the incineration plant. The moisture contents of raw materials were measured 85.65%. The inlet flow rate of drying air made a difference as the depth of the raw materials loaded on the drying unit and temperature has showed 108~144℃. The drying speed of the mixed drying more than doubled as that of non mixed drying under the same drying type, inlet amount, drying time and drying air temperature. In each experiment, the drying capacity have showed over 500 kg/hr. A drying efficiency of the ratio of drying consumption energy to input energy was 33.46%, lower than the average of 57.76% for the 157 conventional dryers. Because developed dryer must have a drying time of less than one hour, it is considered that the dry efficiency has been reduced due to the loss of wind volume during drying. If waste heat from incineration plant is used as a direct heat source, the dry air temperature is expected to be at least 160℃, greatly improving the drying capacity.
