Sound is very important element to enhance and reinforce reality and immersion of users in virtual reality and computer animation. Recently, significant researches about sound modeling are presented in computer graphics community. In this article, main subjects are explained and major researches are reviewed based on the sound papers presented in computer graphics community. Specially, several papers about following two subjects are reviewed in this paper: 1) synthesing sound using physically-based laws and generating sound synchronized with graphics. 2) spatializing sound and modeling sonic environment. Many research about sound modeling have been focused on more efficient modeling of real physical law and generate realistic sound with limited resources. Based on this concept, various papers are introduced and the relationship between researches about sound and graphics is discussed.
The needs for visualizing interactive multimedia contents on portable devices with realistic three dimensional shapes are increasing as new ubiquitous services are coming into reality. Especially in digital fashion applications with virtual reality technologies for clothes of various forms on different avatars, it is required to provide very high quality visual models over mobile networks. Due to limited network bandwidths and memory spaces of portable devices, it is very difficult to transmit visual data effectively and render realistic appearance of three dimensional images. In this thesis, we propose a compression method to reduce three dimensional data for digital fashion applications. The three dimensional model includes animation of avatar which require very large amounts of data over time. Our proposed method utilizes temporal and spatial coherence of animation data, to reduce the amount. By grouping vertices from three dimensional models, the entire animation is represented by a movement path of a few representative vertices. The existing three dimensional model compression approaches can get benefits from the proposed method by reducing the compression sources through grouping. We expect that the proposed method to be applied not only to three dimensional garment animations but also to generic deformable objects.

3D visualization of geological environments using remotely sensed data and the various sources of data provides new methodology to interpret geological observation data and analyze geo-information in earth science applications. It enables to understand spatio-temporal relationships and causal processes in the three-dimension, which would be difficult to identify without 3D representation. To build more realistic geological environments, which are useful to recognize spatial characteristics and relationships of geological objects, 3D modeling, topological analysis, and database should be coupled and taken into consideration for an integrated configuration of the system. In this study, a method for 3D visualization, extraction of geological data, storage and data management using remotely sensed data is proposed with the goal of providing a methodology to utilize dynamic spatio-temporal modeling and simulation in the three-dimension for geoscience and earth science applications.
Recent augmentation reality demands more realistic multimedia data with the mixture of various media. High-technology for multimedia data which combines existing media data with various media such as audio and video dominates entire media industries. In particular, there is a growing need to serve augmentation reality, 3-dimensional contents and realtime interaction system development which are communication method and visualization tool in Internet. The existing services do not correspond to generate depth value for 3-dimensional space structure recovery which is to form solidity in existing contents. Therefore, it requires research for effective depth-map generation using 2-dimensional video. Complementing shortcomings of existing depth-map generation method using 2-dimensional video, this paper proposes an enhanced depth-map generation method that defines the depth direction in regard to loss location in a video in which none of existing algorithms has defined.
Orthogonal Cross Cylinder mapping and segmentation based modeling methods have been implemented for constructing the image-based navigation system in this paper. The Orthogonal Cross Cylinder (OCC) is the object expressed by the intersection area that occurs when a cylinder is orthogonal with another. OCC mapping method eliminates the singularity effect caused in the environment maps and shows an almost even amount of area for the environment occupied by a single texel. A full-view image from a fixed point-of-view can be obtained with OCC mapping although it becomes difficult to express another image when the point-of-view has been changed. The OCC map is segmented according to the objects that form the environment and the depth value is set by the characteristics of the classified objects for the segmentation based modeling. This method can easily be implemented on an environment map and makes the environment modeling easier through extracting the depth value by the image segmentation. An environment navigation system with a full-view can be developed with these methods.

Recently, VR and AR are emerging as an area of interest in ICT. In virtual reality to feel like a real, many people are looking for them because of its charm. However, the motion of the VR image and the moving object are not synchronized exactly, and a problem of feeling nausea is also occurring. The problem should be solved by the application of Attraction in the VR system. In this paper, we propose a module that minimizes delay time by synchronizing movement of VR image and moving object. The proposed module calculates the moving distance using the direction and the acceleration sensor that the user views through the VR device. The module proposed in this paper will pay attention to the fact that the movement of the attraction moves along a fixed path, so that the accurate travel distance can be calculated.

Recently, Augmented Reality(AR) technologies have been emerged, which shows the types of digital contents integrating real and virtual worlds. To maximize the effect of AR technology, tangible user interface, which enables users to interact with the contents in the same way in which they manipulate objects in real world, is applied. In particular, we expect that the technologies are able to enhance learners' interests and degree of immersion, and produce new learning contents in order to maximize the effect of learning. In this paper, we propose a learning system for scientific experiments with multi-touch screen and tangible user interface. The system consists of an experiment table equipped with a large multi-touch screen and a realistic learning device that can detect the user's simple gestures. In real world, some scientific experiments involve high cost, long time or dangerous objects, but this system will overcome such hindrance and provide learners with a variety of experiment experience in realistic ways.

The number of Free-Form construction projects are increased by development of 3D parametric modeling technology. The reason of Free-Form Architecture's appearance is advance of digital technology. BIM simulation decision making support is inefficient because it is used in virtual reality. In this study, we developed "AR naviX" which is the digital contents of construction management based on AR for effective decision making support to Free-Form construction project. It reflects construction site by using site picture and video, or Laser scanning data. User feel high reality and is absorbed in augmented reality. So they can reduce the time of decision.

With its rapid growth, the digital contents-related industry is drawing attention as an industry generating a high value added. Specifically, the 3D morphing technology often used in the appearance or movement of each object comprising contents makes it possible to compose various contents by inferring the appearance and movement of the object. For a realistic swimming appearance of fish by using fish that swim in the water, this paper proposes a technique that applies the same speed concept as a physical pendulum to a swimming cycle and applies a frame morphing technique that is able to express the growth process from fry to adult fish. This article is capable of realistically reviving the fish growth process, and can through magnified applying can be applied to in 3D fishes encyclopedias or virtual underwater expressions etc. in the viewpoint which is oceanography.
As the paradigm of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is expanding, VR devices and their contents industry are drawing more and more attention as the digital devices of the next generation. Of the realms of VR contents, $360^{\circ}$ 3D videos are receiving the most attention in the field of media, and they are being utilized by Google as educational contents. As such, this research analyzes actual condition of use and motivation of using corresponding contents through survey of $360^{\circ}$ 3D video users. Results show that the most utilized platform is Youtube, and the genres which the respondents have used or are willing to use turned out to be Games and Movies.
