  • Software architectures may be described using text-based architecture description language(ADL). The key goals of an ADL are to communicate alternate designs between different stakeholders, to detect reusable structures, and to record design decisions. This paper provided a solution to the representation problem by creating a tool for three-dimensional representation of architectural viewpoints. The tool consisted of an architecture description language(VTADL) to first describe the software architectures and viewpoints on the architectures; and a VTADL-to-VRML translator to translate each viewpoint into a separate virtual reality world The goal of the paper was to devise algorithms for translating an ADL into effective VRML representations based on the desired viewpoint. The VRML representations were intended to enhance comprehension on the overall design and to improve communications between diverse stakeholders.

  • In this paper, we implement an Android application for infant language education using marker-based augmented reality. Combining animal word markers (noun), size/color word markers (adjective), and action word markers (verb) in puzzle form to make a simple sentence, the application shows virtual contents related to the content of the sentence. For example, when an animal marker is showed up on a camera, the corresponding animal appears. Additionally, when the motion markers are combined, the animal's appearance changes into an animation in which it acts. When a user touched a marker, user can hear the sound of the word, which gives an auditory effect, and by adding the rotation function, user can see the animation in any direction. Our goal is to increase infants' interest in learning language and also increase the effectiveness of education on the meaning of words and the structure of simple sentences, by encouraging them to actively participate in language learning through visual and auditory stimuli.

  • Collaboration has become essential in the product design process due to internationalized and specialized business environments. This study presents a real-time collaborative 3D design workspace for distributed designers, focusing on the development and the evaluation of new interaction techniques supporting nonverbal communication such as awareness of participants, shared manipulation and tele-presence. Requirements were identified in terms of shared objects, shared workspaces and awareness through literature reviews and an observational study. An Augmented Reality based collaborative design workspace was developed, in which two main interaction techniques, Turn-table and Virtual Shadow, were incorporated to support shared manipulation and tele-presence. Turn-table provides intuitive shared manipulation of 3D models and physical cues for awareness of remote participants. Virtual shadow supports natural and continuous awareness of location, gestures and pointing of partners. A lab-based evaluation was conducted and the results showed that interaction techniques effectively supported awareness of general pointing and facilitated discussion in 3D model reviews. The workspace and the interaction techniques can facilitate more natural communication and increase the efficiency of collaboration on virtual 3D models between distributed participants (designer-designer, engineer, or modeler) in collaborative design environments.

  • Despite the increasing popularity of wireless sensor network, indoor positioning using low power IEEE 802.15.4 compliant radio had attracted an interest of many researchers in the last decade. Old fashionable indoor location sensing information has been presented in dull and unpleasant 2D image standard. This paper focused on visualizing high precision 3 dimensional RSSI-based (received signal strength indication) spatial sensing information in an interactive virtual reality on PDA. The developed system operates by capturing and extracting signal strength information at multiple pre-defined reference nodes to provide information in the area of interest, thus updating user's location in 3D indoor virtual map. VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) which specifically developed for 3D objects modeling is utilized to design 3D indoor environment.

본 논문에서는 WAP(Wireless Application Protocol)을 기반으로 하여 다운로드 솔루션을 채택한 GVM(General Virtual Machine) 상에서 실행될 수 있는 모바일 게임을 설계하고 MobileC 언어를 사용하여 제작하였다. 또한, 모바일 게임을 설계하고 제작하는 과정을 통해서 단말기의 제한적인 실행환경에서 최대한의 효과를 나타낼 수 있는 개발 모델을 제시하고자 한다. GVM은 무선 단말기 상에서 동적인 응용프로그램을 실행할 수 있는 가상기계 플랫폼이다.
