Finite Element Analysis of Pipe Whip Restraint Behavior Under Jet Thrust Forces (유체 분사 추진력을 받는 배관 휩 구속장치 거동에 관한 유한요소해석)

  • Many types of pipe whip restraints are installed to protect the structural components from the anticipated pipe whip phenomena of high energy lines in nuclear power plants. It is necessary to investigate these phenomena accurately in order to design the pipe whip restraints properly and/or to evaluate the acceptability of the pipe whip restraint design. Various research programs have been conducted in many countries to develop analytical methods and to verify the validity of the methods. In this study, various types of finite elements in ANSYS[1], the general purpose finite element computer program, was used to simulate the postulated pipe whips to obtain impact loads and the calculated results were compared with the specific experimental results from the sample pipe whip test for the U-shaped pipe whip restraints. Some calculational models, having the gap element or the spring element between the pipe whip restraint and the pipe line, give reasonably good transient responses of the restraint forces compared with the experimental results, and could be useful in evaluating the acceptability of the pipe whip restraint design.

Discrete Optimal Design of Tall Steel Structures subject to Lateral Drift Constraints (횡변위 구속조건을 받는 고층철골구조물의 이산형 최적설계)

  • 본 연구는 횡변위 구속조건을 받는 고층철골구조물의 이산형 최적설계를 위해 효율적인 쌍대알고리즘을 제시하고자 한다. 양함수형태의 횡변위 구속조건을 설정하기 위해 가상일의 원리가 적용되면 고층철골조의 설계변수의 수를 줄여주기 위해 쌍대알고리즘내에 단면특성관계식이 추가된다. 이 알고리즘의 검증을 위하여 횡하중을 받는 네 가지 형태의 고층철골조 예제가 제시되며, 반복과정에서 수렴된 최종물량을 기존의 최적설계방법과 비교해 봄으로써 제시된 알고리즘의 효율성이 검토된다.

Dynamic Response of a Beam Including the Mass Effect of the Moving Loads (이동 하중의 질량효과를 고려한 보의 동적응답)

  • The system such as railway bridge can be modelled as the restrained beam with intermediate supports. This kind of structures are subject to the moving load, which has a great effect on dynamic stresses and can cause sever motions, especially at high velocities. Therefore, to analyze the dynamic characteristics of the system due to the moving load is very important. In this paper, the governing equation of motion of a restrained beam subjected to the moving load is derived by using the Hamilton's principle. The orthogonal polynomial functions, which are trial functions and satisfying the geometric and dynamic boundary conditions, are obtained through simple procedure. The dynamic response of the system subjected to the moving loads is obtained by using the Galerkin's method and the numerical time integration technique. The numerical tests for various constraint, velocity and boundary conditions were preformed. Furthermore, the effects of mass of the moving load are studied in detail.

Prediction of Ship Manoeuvring Performance Based on Virtual Captive Model Tests (가상 구속모형시험을 이용한 선박 조종성능 평가)

  • For the more accurate prediction on manoeuvring performance of a ship at initial design phase, bare hull manoeuvring coefficients were estimated by RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) based virtual captive model tests. Hydrodynamic forces and moment acting on the hull during static drift and harmonic oscillatory motions were computed with a commercial RANS code STAR-CCM+. Automatic and consistent mesh generation could be implemented by using macro functions of the code and user dependency could be greatly reduced. Computed forces and moments on KCS and KVLCC 1&2 were compared with the corresponding measurements from PMM(Planar Motion Mechanism) tests. Quite good agreement can be observed between the CFD and EFD results. Manoeuvring coefficients and IMO standard manoeuvres estimated from the computed data also showed reasonable agreement with those from the experimental data. Based on these results, we could confirm that the developed virtual captive manoeuvring model test process could be applied to evaluate manoeuvrability of a ship at the initial hull design phase.

  • 임상진단에 있어서 종종 문제가 되고 있는 호흡에 따른 두뇌부분의 가상적인 상하이동을 고려해서 위상 엔코드 축인 Y 방향만의 강체의 평행이동을 취급한다. 종래의 발견적인 축차 근사 반복처리에 의한 제거방법과는 달리, 본 연구에서는 MRI 촬상과정과 화상특성의 해석에 근거한 MRI 신호중의 체동성분과 화상성분을 단순한 대수연산에 의해 분리할 수 있는 새로운 구속조건을 도출한다. MRI 신호에 대해서 X 방향의 1차원 푸리에 변환을 행한 후의 Y 방향의 스펙트럼 위상값은 화상자신의 성분과 체동성분의 합이 되고 있다. 한편, 두뇌부위 등의 단층상에 있어서 주위의 피하지방 부분의 밀도는 거의 균일한 것 알려져 있어 이 부분위의 Y 방향의 1 라인 밀도분포를 대칭이라고 간주할 수 있다. 밀도함수가 대칭인 경우 스펙트럼의 위상은 그 위치에 대하여 선형적으로 변화한다. 따라서 이 선형함수로부터 벗어난 성분을 체동성분으로 분리할 수 있다. 이러한 구속조건에 기초를 둔 근거가 명확한 아티팩트의 제거방법을 제안한다. 아울러 본 방법의 유효성을 확인하기 위해 호흡에 의한 주기성의 체동을 가진 MRI 화상에 대해서 시뮬레이션을 행하였다.

  • 보다 현실감 있는 가상환경을 제공하기 위하여 시각정보 외에 힘의 정보를 사용자에게 제공할 필요가 있으며, 이러한 힘 반영은 햅틱장치에 의해서 수행된다. 일반적으로 영상 제시기에 의한 영상정보는 낮은 갱신율을 갖는 반면에, 햅틱장치는 상대적으로 높은 갱신율로 인간에게 힘정보를 제공하게 되므로, 이들 정보 간의 동기화가 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 가시모델의 원형을 일반화시켜서 햅틱장치에 전달하고, 영상 제시기의 갱신율과는 상관 없이 햅틱장치 내에서 임의의 구속공간을 만들어서 힘피드백을 수행하는 방법에 대해서 논의하고자 한다.

  • Ship hydrodynamics in the confined waterways is challenging. When a ship is maneuvering in confined waterways, the hydrodynamic behavior may vary significantly because of the hydrodynamic interaction between the bottom of the ship hull and the seabed, or so-called shallow water effects. Thus, an accurate prediction of shallow water and bank effects is essential to minimizing the risk of the collision and the grounding of the ships. The hydrodynamic derivatives measured by the virtual captive model test provide a path to predicting the change in ship maneuverability. This paper presents a numerical simulation of captive model tests to predict the maneuverability of a ship in confined waterways. Also, straight and zig-zag simulation were conducted to predict the trajectory of a ship maneuvering in confined waterways. The results showed that the asymmetric flow around a ship induced by vicinity of banks causes pressure differences between the port and starboard sides and the trajectory of a ship maneuvering in confined waterways.

Flowability and Strength of Self-compacting Concrete Mixed with Tailings from the Sangdong Tungsten Mine (상동관상 광미를 혼합한 자기충전콘크리트의 유동 및 강도 특성)

  • This study has focused on the possibility for recycling of tailings from the sangdong tungsten mine as powder (TA) of self-compacting concrete (SCC). The experimental tests for entrapped water ratio were carried out in accordance with the specified method by Okamura. The rheological measurements of cement paste were conducted by using a commercially digital Brookfield viscometer (Model LVDV-II+) equipped with cylindrical spindles, also tests for slump-flow, time required to reach 500 mm of slump flow (sec), time required to flow through V-funnel (sec) and filling height of U-box test (mm) were carried out in accordance with the specified by the Japanese Society of Civil Engineering (JSCE). The results of this study, entrapped water ratio was decreased with increasing replacement of TA. Thickness of pseudo water film was increased, and mean plastic viscosity was decreased with increasing replacement of TA. And slump-flow of SCC was decreased with increasing replacement of TA. But time required to reach 500 mm of slump flow (sec), time required to flow through V-funnel (sec) and filling height of U-box test (mm) were satisfied a prescribed range. The mechanical properties including compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and elastic modulus were checked with the requirements specified by Korean Industrial Standard (KS). The compressive strength of SCC was decreased with increasing replacement of TA, splitting tensile strength and elastic modulus were similar to those of normal concrete.

Lateral Buckling Analysis of the Thin-Walled Space Frame (박벽(薄壁) 공간(空間)뼈대구조(構造)의 횡좌굴(橫挫屈) 해석(解析))

  • The tangent stiffness matrices of the plane frame and the thin-walled space frame are derived by using the principle of virtual displacement. In case of the plane frame, the shape function and stiffness matrices are presented for the rigid-hinged condition. For the unsymmetric thin-walled space frame, the elastic and geometric stiffness matrices in three cases of the unrestrained torsion, the restrained torsion, and the restrained anti unrestrained torsion are evaluated by using the various Hermitian polynomials as the shape function. Numerical examples for the lateral buckling analysis of the space frames and the circular arch illustrate the accuracy and convergence characteristics of the derived formulations.
