This study sought to explore the demand in the social service sector and present policy implications, focusing on the vulnerable in rural villages exposed to worse conditions amid the Covid-19 crisis. To this end, the social service needs of vulnerable groups by household type were analyzed by utilizing the raw data of the 2018 Survey on Rural Well-Being. Analysis showed that the greatest demand social services for all rural villages, the elderly, the disabled, one-person, one elderly and low-income households were income support services, while in household that included children the demand was for childcare and education-related services. The second-highest social services in terms of demand were cultural leisure vacation support services for all rural villages, healthcare-related services for the elderly, the disabled, one elderly and low-income households, cultural leisure vacation support services for households including children and daily life support services for single-person households. Based on these results, a measure was proposed to support social services, tailored to vulnerable groups in rural villages. In addition, the government's lack of a consultation system between urban and rural welfare policies, such as a basic plan for health and welfare in rural villages, led this paper to discuss the need for a feedback function and dedicated formulation of mid- to long-term policies in rural villages. It also proposed the establishment of conditions for providing customized social services for rural villages.
This study examined the determinants of housing affordability using the 2014 fact-finding survey of housing. This study identified the effects of characters of districts as well as the effects of characters of family and housing, taking advantage of HGLM(Hierarchical General Linear Model). The results of this study showed that male householder, higher education level, the monthly housing, higher satisfaction of environment of housing are the factors that increased the odds of living at unaffordable housing, but higher income, public transfer recipient, living at sub-standard housing, the Jensei housing are the factors that decreased the odds of living at unaffordable housing. And the higher housing price, the higher rent of the districts increased significantly the odds of living at unaffordable housing, but the higher rate of public housing of the districts decreased the odds of living at unaffordable housing. This study provides the basis that the price of housing and rent should be controled and the policy of public housing should be expanded for housing welfare.
Korean household debt is one of the main sources of the current financial crisis. This paper studies the impact of household members' attributes such as a type of housing(self-own or rent), education, age, average monthly income of the head of household, and the area of residence, on the stress level of the household members due to household debt. We analyze a real data set collected by KB Kookmin Bank in 2004. We consider low and high stress level as a binary response variable and use a logistic regression model with the attributes of household members as explanatory variables. A simple but well-fitting model is selected by backward elimination method based on the likelihood statistic for goodness-of-fit test, and the impact of the attributes on the stress level is studied from parameter estimates of the selected model. We also perform the similar analysis on a binary response variable which distinguishes households with no debt from the rest. From the analysis, the stress level tends to be low for households with self-own houses, high average monthly income, low education level, and young members.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of unmet medical need using data from the Korea Health Panel study from 2009 to 2013 (excluding 2010), and to analyze the trends of unmet medical need and related factors. The subjects of this study were 11,598 in 2009, 11,035 in 2011, 10,584 in 2012, 10,099 in 2013, and 7,144 people in panel data, and conducted frequency analysis, chi-square test and generalized estimating equation. As a result of the analysis by year, it was found that women, under middle school graduation, medical aid, the lowest household income and low subjective health status experienced more unmet medical need. As a result of analysis using generalized estimating equation, women, under 40 years of age, under elementary school graduation, lowest quartile household income, subjective health status of less than 20 points, and activity restrictions are more likely to experience unmet medical need. Based on these results, we intend to provide basic data for establishing policies on the use of medical services.
This paper analyzes the determinants of the employment status of the NURI-project-teams' college and university graduates in Busan area. The major results are as follows: First, education level, household income, grade point average and certificate turn out to be significant variables to decide employment or spell of unemployment. Second, parents' education level, household income, the size of project team, the firm size are shown to affect employment in Busan. In particular, the bigger the firm is, the probability of getting job in Busan is getting smaller. And there are two sides of provincial university graduates' moving into the Metropolitan area; the voluntary move and the involuntary move. Third, sex., education level, major, grade point average, the size of project team etc, are found to be significant determinants of wage level.
This study aimed to examine the association between material hardship and alcohol use among low-income households in Korea, with particular attention to whether the association was mediated by family conflict and self-esteem. Using a nationally representative sample of 960 low-income households, this study conducted a path analysis to test a structural model liking material hardship to alcohol use through family conflict and self-esteem. The significance of indirect paths was tested by a Sobel test. This study found that experiencing material hardship was directly associated with low levels of coping skills for family conflict and low levels of self-esteem, but not with alcohol use. However, material hardship was indirectly associated with alcohol use through low levels of coping skills for family conflict as well as low levels of self-esteem. The findings of this study suggest that experiencing material hardship among low-income households would be a socio-structural stressor for alcohol use, particularly in that it increases secondary role and intra-psychic strains. Implications to address material hardship and alcohol use among low-income households were discussed.

This study aims to elucidate the actual state of family care on the basis of the exact amount of time, and to verify its influencing factors and results. To this end, family caregiving was analyzed using the 2019 Korean Time Use Survey. The analysis results were as follows. First, the average time spent on adult family care was 115 minutes per day, a large proportion of family caregivers were women, the average age was relatively high, there were many unemployed, and household income was relatively low. Second, the analysis of influencing factors revealed that those who were women, older, married, and of a low household income had a considerable likelihood of becoming a family caregiver and had a longer caring time. Third, analysis of the relationship between family care and other activities showed that the family caregiving time was in a substitute relationship with paid work or leisure time, but it was in a complementary relationship with housework time, which was more evident in the case of high-intensity family caregiving. On the basis of these results, this study proposes the implementation of regular family care surveys, expansion of family care support policies, and modification of support for caring time according to the nature, goals, and attributes of caregivers.
This study is to identify the factors related to smokers' intention to quit smoking and the differences between male and female smokers. We used data from Community Health Survey of 2017 and a total of 39,435 participated in the study. It was analyzed through IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 to conduct frequency analysis and binary logistic regression analysis. We found that gender, age, marital status, education, household income, subjective health, attempts to quit smoking, exposure to quit smoking campaigns, education to quit smoking, and number of cigarettes per day are related to the smokers' intention to quit smoking. For male smokers, education and household income are relevant to their intention to quit smoking, unlike female smokers. The findings suggest that smoking cessation campaigns and education are necessary for smokers with low level of education or income. Further, it indicates that gender differences should be taken into consideration upon intervention program.

Therefore, it is necessary through the results of the first phase of the project to check whether Sejong city can achieve the target population and number of households by 2030 and to use to determine the number and type of housing to be supplied next. Based on the presented results of the Phase 1 project period, this study estimate the population and number of households in 2030. For forecasting future population the population growth rate seen in the future of Sejong City's population forecast published by the National Statistical Office and the performance against plans Step 1 were used for forecasting future population. The results of analysis showed that the Multi-functional Administrative City is difficult to attract five hundred thousand people and two hundred thousand houses. In the analysis of households by type The Multi-functional Administrative City is The large proportion of 3-4 person households and high-income earners and Homeowners. But it increased the proportion of households with 1-2 people and rent house of the city grows in size and it is likely to change the level of income. Therefore, it is determined that there is a need to reflect these elements in next housing.
