Acrylic rubber was synthesized using ethyl acrylate. butyl acrylate, methoxyethyl acrylate as main monomers and glycidyl methacrylate as cure site monomer by emulsion polymerization. Rubber compound was made by adding 2,2-bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]propane as crosslinking agent. Increase of ethyl acrylate content in the main monomer ratio resulted in enhancement of heat resistance due to decrease of glass transition temperature in acrylic rubber. And also oil resistance was increased with increasing content of ethyl acrylate because ethyl acrylate has the highest ester concentration in the three main monomers. With content of 2,2-bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]propane, both tensile strength and elongation were increased until 2 phr, but in higher content than that, they decreased owing to reduction of viscosity and elongation by increase of crosslinking density.
In this paper, the effects of crosslinking agent and pH controlling agent on adhesive properties and water solubility of water soluble acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives were studied by adding the crosslinking agents or pH controlling agents after the polymerization. the tack, cohesive strength, and peel strength were measured to evaluate adhesive properties. the turbidity was also measured to evaluate water solubility of pressure sensitive adhesives. When crosslinking agent was added less than 0.2 wt%, tack increased and cohesive strength and peel strength decreased with increasing concentration. When crossinking agent was added more than 0.2 wt%, the results were opposited. When pH controlling agent was added, tack and water solubility decreased and peel strength and cohesive strength increased with increasing concentration. the influence of pH controlling agents on adhesive properties and water solubility of pressure sensitive adhesive increased in the order of lithium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide.
Linear and crosslinked polyurethane dispersions were synthesized with 2,4-toluene diisocyanate, dimethylol propionic acid, polyoxypropylene glycol and polyoxypropylene glycerin. The structures of these polyurethanes were characterized by $^1H-NMR$ and FT-IR and the properties were measured with DSC, TGA, Instron and AFM etc. In case of linear polyurethane dispersion, the particle size, viscosity and glass transition temperature of polyurethanes increased with higher molecular weight of polyol and the degree of crosslinking. The crosslinked polyurethanes which contains more than 15% of polyoxypropyleneglycerin didn't from dispersion, when mixtures by polyoxypropyleneglycol and polyoxypropyleneglycerin were used as polyols. Thus, we synthesized crosslinked polyurethanes with 5%, 8%, 13% and 15% weight percents of polyoxypropylene glycerin as polyol mixtures.

In order to develop the environmental-friendly new materials based on soybean protein which is plantable macromolecule, thermal characteristics of the soybean protein resin (SPI) modified by plasticizers (1,3-propandiol, glycerol) and cross linking agents (glutaraldehyde, epichlorohydrin, glyoxal, urea) were analyzed by TGA. Mechanical properties of modified SPI were investigated and fracture was observed by SEM. As the result, flexibility of SPI film was increased by adding plasticizers; 1,3-propandiol and glycerol. Plasticization effect of glycerol was relatively greater than that of 1,3-propandiol. With the application of crosslinking agents (glycerol, epichlorohydrin and glyoxal), strength and thermal stability of SPI increased with their content. On the other hand, in case of addition of urea, thermal stability of SPI decreased and its strength was reduced because cross-linking between urea and SPI was somewhat difficult. Fracture surfaces and domain interfaces of the modified SPI resins were observed with SEM.
This paper is designed with the purpose of improving the efficiency of the sulfonic acid ion exchange membranes by radiation induced graft polymerization. It has been shown that the porous hollow fiber membranes could cause permeability blocking between pores and ion exchanged graft chains. Addition of crosslinker such as N-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate will permit to increase the permeation flux. In this research, the ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) and diethylene glycol dimethacrylate (DDMA) with different length are used as crosslinkers. The ion exchanged cross-linked membrane (EDMA, DDMA) containing sulfonic acid group by radiation induced grafted polymerization are sn died for adsorb metal ions (Pb). It has been shown that adsorbed metal ions ($Pb^{2+}$) for the EDMA and DDMA membranes with the density of sulfonic acid groups, 1.40 mmol/g and 2.14 mmol/g, respectively are 13.82 mg/g, 17.37 mg/g, accordingly.

Generally main girders and steel piers of temporary bridges form the steel rahmen structure. In this study, the rational stability design procedure for main members of temporary bridges is presented using 3D system buckling analysis and second-order elastic analysis. 2 types of temporary bridges, which are possible to be designed and fabricated in reality, are chosen and the buckling design for them is performed considering load combinations of dead and live loads, thermal load, and wind load. Effective buckling length of steel piers, effects of live loads on effective length of main members, transition of ~id buckling modes, and effects of second-order analysis are investigated through case study of 2 temporary bridges.
In this study, rubber vulcanization property, change in physical property, morphology and chemical characteristics of blended rubber depending on various IR/CR ratio were investigated for the purpose of the improvement of material property and durability. The effect of surface treatment by chlorine on the friction coefficient was also studied with various conditions of surface treatment. In terms of vulcanization property, as the amount of CR content increased, the speed of cure was decreased, while the density of crosslinking stayed constant. It means hardness and modulus were increased as the CR content increased. It is related to change in cure property and mechanical strength was improved by the effect of crystallization reaction. In the aging property, as the CR content increases, the changed amount of basic properties were decreased, which acts as a reducing factor in change of aged property by complementing weak point in mechanical property. It was found that the degree of property change for surface treated samples were reduced. According to the microscopic result, the degree of surface dispersion on rubber blends was increased by increasing CR content. Rubber surface showed uniform direction in pattern with increased smoothness and luster by treatment with chlorine. The degree of rubber reforming was measured by the remaining amount of chlorine and the friction coefficient was dependent on the amount of chlorine combined with rubber. In the initial stage of surface treatment, from 10 to 40 phr, the friction coefficient of specimen was rapidly reduced. However, as the concentration of chlorine solution increased, the change in friction coefficient was decreased.
The adsorption characteristics of raw and crosslinked chitosan for rare earth elements (REEs) have been studied. The range of optimum pH for the maximum adsorption was observed: pH 4.5~5.5 for $Nd^{3+}$, $Tm^{3+}$ on raw and crosslinked chitosan; pH 4.0~5.5 for $La^{3+}$ and $Ce^{3+}$ on crosslinked chitosan and pH 2.0 for those on raw chitosan. The adsorption rate of REE at pH 4.0 has been found in the order of $Er^{3+}$ > $Gd^{3+}$ > $Yb^{3+}$ > $Nd^{3+}$ > $Lu^{3+}$ > $Eu^{3+}$ > $Tm^{3+}$ > $Ho^{3+}$ > $Dy^{3+}$ > $La^{3+}$ > $Ce^{3+}$ > $Y^{3+}$ > $Pr^{3+}$ in single metal system and that of $Lu^{3+}$ > $Yb^{3+}$ > $Tm^{3+}$ > $Dy^{3+}$ > $Ho^{3+}$ > $Er^{3+}$ > $Eu^{3+}$ > $Gd^{3+}$ > $Nd^{3+}$ > $Y^{3+}$ > $La^{3+}=Ce^{3+}=Pr^{3+}$ in multi metal system. In the competitive adsorption of multi metal system, the amount of metal adsorption generally increased with increasing atomic number and with decreasing ionic radius. On the adsorption studies of metal ions on chitosan, the time of equilibrium adsorption which was reached at the maximum adsorption was about 5 hours. 83~95 % for $Nd^{3+}$ ion and 90~106 % for $Tm^{3+}$ ion, were recovered from the crosslinked chitosan.

In this study, the caprolactone modified hydroxy acrylates (CHAs) were synthesized by ring-opening reaction of caprolactone and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (2-HEA) as initiator. Also, the caprolactone modified urethane acrylate (UA) oligomers were synthesized by condensation reaction of previously synthesized CHAs, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (2-HEA) and hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer (HDT). Using the hydroxy number of CHAs, the molecular weights of the CHAs were calculated easily and their molecular weight was similar to the theoretical molecular weight of them. The viscosity of UA oligomers decreased as increasing a content of CHA in the UA oligomer. Cure films were prepared from UA oligomer, reactive diluents, and UV initiator to investigate their physical properties. The thermal stability and color difference on high temperature for the cured film were improved as increasing the crosslinking density. Their surface hardness was also increased as increasing crosslinking density of the cured films, but their elongation at break was decreased.
Polysiloxanes with methacrylate groups at both terminals were synthesized by a hydrosilylation reaction between allyl methacrylate and hydride-terminated polysiloxanes. The polysiloxane methacrylates with high molecular weights could be prepared through the reaction of polysiloxane methacrylates and octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane with an acid catalyst. The structures of the prepared polysiloxane methacrylates were verified by $^1$H- and $^{29}Si-NMR.$ The polysiloxane methacrylates were freely miscible with silicone oils. Polysiloxane films with microphase-separated liquid silicone oil were prepared by photo-crosslinking the mixture of polysiloxane methacrylates and silicone oil. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of the films showed that the size of silicone oil droplets became smaller with a lower loading of silicone oil, lower molecular weight of polysiloxane methacrylate, and lower molecular weight of silicone oil.
