Previous research showed that chlorphenesin galactoside (CPN-Gal), a preservative in cosmetics, was safer than CPN against human skin cells [9]. To establish a stable and long-term process for CPN-Gal production, we investigated the repeated-batch process. In this process, β-gal-producing recombinant Escherichia coli cells were immobilized in calcium alginate beads, and CPN was converted to CPN-Gal by the transgalactosylation reaction. The process was conducted in a 300 ml flask, which contained E. coli cell-immobilized alginate beads, 33.8 mM of CPN, and 400 g/l of lactose. The pH and temperature were 7.0 and 40℃, respectively. During the repeated-batch operation, four consecutive batch operations were conducted successfully until 192 hr. The conversion yield of CPN to CPN-Gal was 64% during 192 hr, which was higher than the values in previous reports [3, 13]. Thereafter, however, the conversion yield gradually decreased until the operation was finished at 336 hr. Western blotting of immobilized E. coli cells revealed that β-gal gradually decreased after 192 hr. In addition, alginate beads were cracked when the operation was finished. It is probable that, including this loss of E. coli cells by cracks, deactivation, and product inhibition of E. coli β-gal might lead to a gradual decrease in the production of CPN-Gal after 192 hr. However, as the purification of β-gal is not necessary with β-gal-producing recombinant E. coli cells, β-gal-producing E. coli cells might be a practical and cost-effective approach for enzymatically synthesizing CPN-Gal. It is expected that this process will be extended to long-term production process of CPN-Gal for commercialization.
After the callapse of the 80's bubble economy. consumers tend to consider the fundamental values of a product such as price, usage, and quality more significantly than ever before. Due to this change in attitude. the most important factor in a consumer's decision for choosing a product becomes the quality of a product that safisfies consumer's practical values whith convincing features and logical differentiations devoted to fundamental values. Under the circumstances. Factor Oriented Process and Multi-Sequential Process are proposede not just as merely defining concept through study of consumers' needs. but as methods of gaining competitive edge and eatablishing corporate identity in market, competition by bringing out consumers' various wants and needs to lead them to a specific product. Factor Oriented Process emphasizes the analysis of factors within the process itself, especially the synthesis of factors which would bring about new solutions as its special feature and acts as a logical element for further design development. Thus, the synthesis process consists of re-organizing analyzed factors, andduring this process, analyzing correlation between the restrictions of factors would lead to discovery of 'dominant factors'. Afterward, design basis may be formed with design concepts proposed by several concept codes made up of one dominant factor and other associate factors. Multi-Sequential Process is an extensive approach to discover differentiated design proposals through careful examination of dominant factors within the product, and furthermor, to discount 'anterior factor' (directional factors that decide design directions based on multi-value criteria) for self-determined decision of design directions.

In recent days low cost, high performance microprocessors have led to construction of medium scale shared memory multiprocessor systems with shared bus. Such multiprocessor systems are heavily influenced by the structures of memory systems and memory systems become more important factor in design space as microprocessors are getting faster. Even though local cache memories are very common for such systems, the latency on access to the shared memory limits throughput and scalability. There have been many researches on the memory structure for multiprocessor systems. In this paper, an asynchronous memory architecture is proposed to utilize the bandwith of system bus effectively as well as to provide flexibility of implementation. The effect of the proposed architecture if shown by simulation. We choose, as our model of the shared bus is HiPi+Bus which is designed by ETRI to meet the requirements of the High-Speed Midrange Computer System. The simulation is done by using Verilog hardware decription language. With this simulation, it is explored that the proposed asynchronous memory architecture keeps the utilization of system bus low enough to provide better throughput and scalibility. The implementation trade-offs are also described in this paper. The asynchronous memory is implemented and tested under the prototype testing environment by using test program. This intensive test has validated the operation of the proposed architecture.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of salt soluble protein extracts from anchovy (ASSPE) on sausage during storage at $10^{\circ}C$. Sausages were produced containing 5 and 10% ASSPE. Sausages containing ASSPE showed no significant differences in emulsion stability, color, pH, moisture, viable cell count, and VBN compared to the control. The hardness significantly increased with the addition of ASSPE, and sausages containing 5% ASSPE were the highest in gumminess. In the sensory evaluation, sausages containing 5% ASSPE had the highest score in appearance and springiness. In conclusion, the addition of ASSPE in sausage had no effects on storage characteristics, but had a good effect on improvement of quality and sensory characteristics. Especially, 5% ASSPE sausage had good texture and high sensory characteristics due to increased binding capacity. These results suggest that 5% ASSPE may improve the quality and sensory characteristics of sausage.
When CO2 foam is injected into the saline aquifer, the relative permeability of CO2 decreases and its viscosity increases, thereby reducing mobility in porous media and ultimately improving CO2 storge with enhanced sweep efficiency. In general, surfactants were used to fabricate CO2 foam. Recently, nanoparticles have been used to form stable foam than surfactant. This paper introduces CO2 storage technology using nanoparticle stabilized CO2 foam. If the surface of the hydrophilic nanoparticles is partially modified into a CO2-philic portion, the particles have an affinity for CO2 and water, thus forming a stable CO2 foam even in deep saline aquifers under high temperature and high salinity conditions, thereby it can be stored in the pores of the rock. In terms of economics, injection method using nanopaticle-stabilized CO2 foam is more expensive than the conventional CO2 injection, but it is estimated that it will have price competitiveness because the injection efficiency is improved. From an environmental point of view, it is possible to inject chemical substances such as surfactants and nanomaterials into aquifers or reservoirs for specific purposes such as pollutant removal and oil production. However, some studies have shown that nanoparticles and surfactants are toxic to aquatic animals, so environmentally proven substances should be used. Therefore, further research and development will be needed to study the production and injection of nanoparticle-stabilized CO2 foam that are environmentally safe and economically reasonable.
Gasification technology is one of the representative next-generation fossil fuel utilization technologies, converting low grade fossil fuels such as coal, heavy residue oil, pet-coke into highly clean and efficient energy sources. Accordingly, related market demand for gasification technology is ever increasing steadily and rapidly. A few years ago, conventional pulverized coal utilization technology had an edge over the gasification technology but the most significant technical barrier of limited capacity and availability has been largely overcome nowadays. Futhermore, it will be more competitive in the future with the advancement of related technologies such as gas turbine, ion transfer membrane and so on. China has recently completed a commercialization-capable large-scale coal gasification technology for its domestic market expansion and foreign export, rapidly becoming a newcomer in the field and competing with existing US and EU technical leadership at comparable terms. Techno-economic aspect deserves intensive attention and steady R&D efforts need to continue in organized, considering that gasification technology is quite attractive combined with $CO_2$ capture process and coal to SNG plant is economically viable in Korea where natural gas is very expensive. In the present paper, recent technology development and commercialization trend of many leading companies with coal gasification expertise have been reviewed with significant portion of literature cited from the recently held '2014 Gasification Technology Conference'.

Recently, heat resistant super alloys (which are wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and heat-resistant), have been used as the basic structural material in offshore and petrochemical plants. On the other hand, making valves from very expensive, high heat-resistant alloys increases the production cost and decreases its market competitiveness. To solve these problems, the technique of overlaying only those that flow on the fluid has been used as an effective method. Nevertheless, because the former technique of overlaying the ball is performed manually, it takes too much time and perfect welding is difficult to perform. To solve this problem, this study developed a robot automation system that can make uniformly overlay welding of the ball for ball-valves. The system consists of a 6-axis welding robot with a welding torch and additional 2 axes for the rotation of positioner, the controller, and a robot path OLP (Off-Line Programming). The CAD drawing data was entered in the Off-line program to obtain the robot teaching point and drive source. Overlay welding paths were implemented using Matlab. Through an automated overlaying system that implemented the OLP, the productivity rose 2.58 times, as the amount of time required for work decreased from 88 hours to 41 hours.

The structural safety of small craft, such as steel ships and FRP ships, can be estimated using the measurement test of the hull plate thickness or the longitudinal bending strength test. A polyethylene boat is made using inexpensive HDPE and can be mass produced. The structural safety of a polyethylene boat cannot be guaranteed because a polyethylene boat hull is notspecified in the KR technical rules. The inspection procedure of sailing yachts and pleasure boats and drop test method of ISO standard 12215-5 propose the structural strength required for small crafts as the drop test height. Therefore, in this study, the drop test of a polyethylene boat hull was carried out based on the inspection procedure of a sailing yacht and pleasure boat and the drop test method of ISO standard 12215-5. The drop load was acquired by the drop acceleration ofa boat hull. Structural analysis and safety of a polyethylene boat were performed by the drop load and allowable stress criteria. The calculation results of the hull plate thickness by structural design specification of ISO standard 12215-5 showed that polyethylene boat hull was more than two times thicker than a steel ship hull and the boat hull determined by the inspection procedure of sailing yacht and pleasure boat and drop test method of ISO standard 12215-5 was more than 1.2 times thicker than the boat hull determined by structural design specification of ISO standard 12215-5. Therefore, inspection procedure of sailing yachts and pleasure boats and drop test method of ISO standard 12215-5 was much more conservative than the structural design specification of ISO standard 12215-5 and could be used as the structural design method of a polyethylene boat.
Recently the increased attention pays on the processing of multiple, relatively low quantity, high value-added products resulted in adoption of batch process in the chemical process industry such as pharmaceuticals, polymers, bio-chemicals and foods. As there are more possibilities of the improvement of operations in batch process than continuous processes, a lot of effort has been made to enhance the productivity and operability of batch processes. But the chemical process industry faces a range of uncertainties factors such as demands for products, prices of product, lead time for the supply of raw materials and in the production, and the distribution of product. And global competition has made it imperative for the process industries to manage their supply chains optimally. Supply chain management aims to integrate plants with their supplier and customers so that they can be managed as a single entity and coordinate all input/output flows (of materials, information) so that products are produced and distributed in the right quantities, to the right locations, and at the right time. The objective of this study is to solve the purchase, distribution, production planning and scheduling problem, which minimizes the total costs of production, inventory, and transportation under uncertainty. And development of SCM model in chemical industry including batch mode operations. Through that, the enterprise can respond to uncertainty. Also integrated process optimal planning and scheduling model for manufacturing supply chain. The result shows that, the advantage of supply chain integration are quality matters seen by customers and suppliers, order schedules, flexibility, cost reduction, and increase in sales and profits. Also, an integration of supply chain (production and distribution system) generates significant savings by trading off the costs associated with the whole, rather than minimizing supply chain costs separately.
Recently, medical devices for a smart health development and dissemination are becoming increasingly frequent use of devices and their's thermal stability, durability, the external splendors are required. Industrial demand for smart health medical devices uses high-functioning electrodeposition technology that expressed pearl-like feeling is rapidly increasing. Generally, pearl powder is added to electrodeposition pigment in order to form a coating which shows pearl-like feeling. On the other hand, the electrodeposition technology for the smart health medical devices uses a new method that can express pearl-like feeling without using pearl powder. In this study, we was tried to find out the most appropriate texture formation, the right dilution recipe. We've tried various ptoportions of pigments (ED-600, ED-600S, ED-MX, ED-M). As a result, we found out that ED-600 and ED-MX (15% solid) in appropriate concentration showed the best adherence rate. By several samples tests and experiments which include washing the fixed pigment in various temperature levels ($20{\sim}40^{\circ}C$) and drying, we were able to get the best results in drying condition of $180{\pm}10^{\circ}C$ and $30{\pm}5min$. The research showed that it is mush more competitive and cost effective to use the new method that produces natural pearl-like feeling on the surface than to add pearl powder to high-functioning electrodeposition pigment, which is a method that has been used for the smart health medical devices so far.
