An Experimental Study on the Natural Convection Heat Transfer with a Heat Source in a Top-Vented Cylindrical Enclosure (내부열원을 갖는 Top-vented 원통형 밀폐공간에서의 자연대류에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • An experimental study was conducted on the natural convection heat transfer with a heat source (heater) in a top-vented cylindrical enclosure. Using an Air Controlled Oxidizer (ACO) for treatment of depleted uranium chips, the heat transfer characteristics of the ACO was studied with various heat generation. Heat flux, Nusselt number, Grashof number and Rayleigh number were obtained and the relation between Nusselt number and Rayleigh number was derived.

  • Simulation on the electron beam welding of Al 2219 alloy was carried out by using commercial FEM code MARC, which encounters moving heat sources. Due to axisymmetry of geometry, a half of the cylinder was simulated. A coupled thermo-mechanical analysis was carried out and subroutine for heat flux was substituted in the program. The material properties such as specific heat, heat transfer coefficient and thermal expansion coefficient were given as a function of temperature and the latent heat associated with a given temperature range is considered. As a result, the proper beam power is 60㎸${\times}$60㎃ and welding speed is 1∼1.5 m/min. The residual stress in the heat-affected zone as well as the fusion zone does not increase. It is necessary to use jigs for preventing distortion of cylinder and improving weld quality.

유전자재조합식품와 안전성과 표시제도에 대한 여론조사

  • 유전자재조합(GM)식품에 대해 듣거나 읽어서 알고 있는 사람이 67%정도 되었고,GM식품을 자발적으로 먹겠다는 사람은 18%를 약간 상회하였고 기다려보고 결정하겠다는 사람들이 약 50%정도였다. 농약 등의 화학물질 오염이나 취급부주의 및 기업인의 윤리의식에 대한 불신에 비해 GM식품에 대한 우려는 매우 적게 나타났으나 GM방법에 의해 개발한 제초제 내성 콩을 먹겠다는 사람은 적은 데 비해 같은 방법으로 개발한 비타민이 많은 콩을 먹겠다는 사람은 많은 것으로 보아 소비자들은 GMO이기 때문에 제초제 내성 콩을 거부하는 것이 아니라, 제초제 내성 콩에 대한 내용의 이해부족으로 인한 거부감을, 그리고 비타민 콩은 비타민이 인체에 중요한 영양소라는 것 때문에 호감을 가지는 것으로 해석되었다. 전체적으로 소비자들이 GMO에 관한 정보를 많이 접하기는 하지만 보통 식품에도 유전자가 있다는 사실을 아는 소비자들이 조사 대상자의 40%정도인 것으로 보아 노출된 만큼 내용을 잘 알지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. GM식품에 대하여는 90%이상이 표시하기를 바라고 있는 것과 같이 2001년 7월부터 가공식품에 GM원료 함유여부 표시제도가 시행되고 있는 데, 이 제도의 시행 사실을 알고 있는 소비자는 22%에 지나지 않았다. 효과적인 표시제도의 시행을 위해서는 일반시민이 제도의 시행에 대해 잘 숙지하고 있어야 할 것이다.

  • 본 연구에서는 디스크 이동식 열분해 실증 설비를 이용하여 폐타이어 열분해 반응을 수행하였고, 생성된 열분해 생성물들의 특성을 분석하였다. 폐타이어 열분해 반응은 약 $550^{\circ}C$에서 90분간 진행되었고, 반응 결과 Recovered Oil, Carbon Black, Non Condensing Gas(NC Gas)가 생성되었다. 폐타이어 열분해 생성물의 수율은 Recovered Oil $40{\sim}50%$, Carbon Black 30$\sim$35%, NC Gas 10$\sim$15%, Steel 10$\sim$15%로 나타났다. 폐타이어 열분해 반응 후 생성된 Recovered Oil은 비점 및 특성 분석 결과 상업용 중유와 비슷한 성질을 나타냈고, 폐타이어 열분해 반응의 또 다른 생성물인 Carbon Black은 특성 분석 결과 고정 탄소 비율이 낮은 반면 회분과 휘발분의 비율이 높아 상업용으로 사용하기 위해서는 적절한 정제 과정이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.열분해 과정 중에 생성된NC Gas는 GC/MS를 이용하여 성분 분석을 수행한 결과, $CO_2$, $CH_4$를 비롯하여 주로 탄화수소류로 이루어졌으며, 대부분이 연료 가스로 구성되어 있어 열분해 반응의 열원으로서 사용이 가능하였다.

  • In order to investigate the fracture behaviors(penetration modes) and resistance to penetration during ballistic impact of surface hardening treated Aluminum, Titanium alloy laminates, ballistic tests were conducted. In this paper, Anodized Al 5083-H131 alloy laminates and nitrified Ti (Gr.2) alloy laminates were used to achieve higher surface hardness. Surface hardness test were conducted using a Micro victor's hardness tester and thickness of surface hardening treated specimens was measured by video microscope. Resistance to penetration is determined by the protection ballistic limit($V_50$), a statistical velocity with 50% probability far complete penetration. Fracture behaviors and ballistic tolerance, described by penetration modes, are respectfully observed at and above ballistic limit velocities, as a result of $V_50$ test and Projectile Through Plates (PTP) test methods. PTP tests were conducted with $0^{\circ}$ obliquity at room temperature using 5.56mm ball projectile. $V_50$ tests with $0^{\circ}$ obliquity at room temperature were conducted with projectiles that were able to achieve near or complete penetration during PTP tests.

  • The purpose of the present study is to identify the drying cylinder model in paper plants and to analyze characteristics of process responses for changes in input variables. The model developed in this work is based on actual plant operation data and the steam pressure applied to the cylinder behaves as one the main variables. It is found that heat transfer coefficients from the condensate to the canvas could be represented as empirical relations based on heat conductivities and operation date. The effectiveness of the cylinder model is demonstrated by the measured moisture contents and web temperature. Using transfer functions derived from the cylinder model stability of the drying process is analyzed.

  • Effluent ground water overflow in deep and broad ground space building. Temperature of effluent ground water is in $12{\sim}20^{\circ}C$ annually and the quality of that water is as good as living water. Therefore if the flow rate of effluent ground water is sufficient as source of heat pump, that is good heat source and heat sink of heat pump. Effluent ground water contain the thermal energy of surrounding ground. So this is a new application of ground source heat pump. In this study open type and close type heat pump system using effluent ground water was installed and tested for a church building with large and deep ground space. The effluent flow rate of this building is $800{\sim}1000ton/day$. The heat pump capacity is 5RT each. The heat pump cooling COP is $4.9{\sim}5.2$ for the open type and $4.9{\sim}5.7$ for close type system. The system cooling COP is $3.2{\sim}4.5$ for open type and $3.8{\sim}4.2$ for close type system. This performance is up to that of BHE type ground source heat pump.

  • In the present investigation, experimental analysis was performed to research heat transfer phenomena generated by means of conduction and natural convection at a succession of tube-inclimations relative to the vertical tube during inward melting process of a phase change material. The phase change material used in the experiments is 99 percent pure n-docosane paraffin($C_{22}H_{46}$). When the tube is vertical, the dominant mode of energy transfer between the tube wall and the melting interface is natural convection. On the other hand, when the tube is inclined to the vertical, the melting solid is brought into direct contact with the tube wall by the action of gravity. In the experimental results, direct contact gave rise to substantial enhancements in the amount of melted mass, relative to those for natural-convection-dominated melting.

  • In this study, porcelain insulator samples which have a different alumina composition were manufactured in order to test electrical and mechanical properties and make an analysis of the propagation phenomena of micro cracks on porcelain body. From XRD quantitative analysis the crystalline phases were different with alumina composition, sample C and D which have about 17wt% Corundum phase without the Cristobalite phase shows better electrical and mechanical properties than sample A and 8 which have the Cristobalite phase. In dielectrics test on porcelain samples with below 17wt% alumina composition, it was found that the amount of glass phase$(SiO_2)$have an main effect to decrease the dielectric loss$(tan{\delta})$, and the dielectric breakdown voltage of aluminous porcelain insulators was largely affected by its relative density. As a micro cracks analysis, HRS were measured, then the intensity of HRS increased with the amount of alumina composition. On the other hand, the propagation behaviors of cracks was fairly influenced by the distribution of pores.

  • An ageing characteristics of RTV coating materials by corona discharge have been studied. The recovery of a hydrophobicity of RTV coating materials with the thickness of $300{\mu}m$ was in identical with a bulk silicone materials. The hydrophobicity of RTV coating materials has been almost lost when its were discharged during 40 seconds by corona with 10kV, and recovered after about 45 hours. But the resistivity of RTV coating materials has not been recovered after 45 hours, even though after 80 hours the 95% of initiation resistivity value has been recovered. There was no critical compounds(such as Si and Al) changes on RTV surfaces by the corona discharge treatment until 100 seconds. In the test of arc erosion, it was seen that the coating sample with silicone rubber as a base material have more longer bum-out time than other samples with FRP or glass base.
