We have reported earlier on the reactivity of 7-dithiocarboxy-3-phenyl-5,6-dihydro imidazo[2,1-b]thiazolium-betaine with several para-substituted phenacyl bromides. In this work reactions of 7-dithiocarboxy-3-phenyl(or methyl)-5,6-dihydro imidazo[2,1-b]thiazolium-betaine with a series of aliphatic alkylating agents of ${\alpha}$ -halo ketone,${\gamma}$-halo koto ester and ${\alpha}$ -halo ester were examined for the similar purpose. In case of ${\alpha}$-halo ketone or ${\gamma}$-halo koto ester such as ${\alpha}$ -chloro acetone or ethyl 4-chloro acetoacetate new biheterocyclic compound was obtained via ring transformation reaction. However, reaction of the betaine with methyl(or ethyl) bromoacetate used as a ${\alpha}$-halo ester, gave, in-stead, S-alkylated quarternary ammonium salt.

In this paper, we give some results on ${\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}}$ for the certain classes of holomorphic functions in the unit disc $E=\{z:{\mid}z{\mid}<1\}$ and on ${\partial}E=\{z:{\mid}z{\mid}=1\}$. For the function $f(z)=z^2+c_3z^3+c_4z^4+{\cdots}$ defined in the unit disc E such that $f(z){\in}{\mathcal{A}}_{\alpha}$, we estimate a modulus of the angular derivative of ${\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}}$ function at the boundary point b with ${\frac{bf^{\prime}(b)}{f(b)}}=1+{\alpha}$. Moreover, Schwarz lemma for class ${\mathcal{A}}_{\alpha}$ is given. The sharpness of these inequalities is also proved.

In order to investigate heat-induced gelation properties of $\alpha-lactalbumin(\alpha-La),$ total free SH groups, half-cystine, and disulfide bond contents of $\alpha-La$ gels prepared in 0.1M Tris-HCI buffer(pH 8.0) were measured. The samples were heated at $90^{\circ}C$ for 40 minutes under different PH and concentrations of NaCl, $CaCl_2,$ $\alpha-La,$ N-ethylrnaleirnide(NEM), and dithiothreitol(DTT). Total free SH groups were low at high concentrations of $\alpha-La$ and at pH 6.5~8.5, and were $14.72~18.58\mu\textrm{m}ol/g$ and $14.17~16.11\mu\textrm{m}ol/g,$ respectively. Half-cystine contents of NEM-induced gels decreased with increasing concentration of NEM, and were $1.03~39.17\mu\textrm{m}ol/g.$ Disulfide bonds of DTT-induced gels increased with increasing concentration of DTT, and were $70.04~71.80\mu\textrm{m}ol/g$.

Semiconducting $\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$ film was prepared by the cathodic electrodeposition method on Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) substrate for photoelectrochemical cell application. After heat treatment at 50$0^{\circ}C$, the phase was changed from Fe to $\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$. The phase, morphology, absorbance, and photocurrent density (A/$\textrm{cm}^2$) of the film depended on the preparation conditions: deposition time, applied voltage, and the duration of heat treatment. The $\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$ film was characterized by X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and UV -Visible Spectrophotometer. The stability of the $\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$ film in aqueous solution was tested at zero bias potential under the white-light source of 100 mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The apparent grain size of the films formed at -2.0 V was larger than that grown at -2.5 V. The $\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$ film deposited at -2.0 V for 180 s and heat-treated at 50$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 h showed the predominant photocurrent of 834$\mu$A/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

Let ${\alpha}:1,(1,{\sqrt{x}},{\sqrt{y}})^{\wedge}$ be a weight sequence with Stampfli's subnormal completion and let $W_{\alpha}$ be its associated weighted shift. In this paper we discuss some properties of the region ${\mathcal{U}}:=\{(x,y):W_{\alpha}$ is semi-cubically hyponormal} and describe the shape of the boundary of ${\mathcal{U}}$. In particular, we improve the results of [19, Theorem 4.2].

4-Aryl-2-hydroxytetronic acids which can be construded as a "lipophilic vitamin C analogue", are known to have antilipidemic and antiaggregatory activities in stead of antiscorb utic activity of vitamin C. A new compound 4-(p-chlorobiphenyl)-2-hydroxytetronic acid (8), which is structurally closely connected with the most active 4-(p-chlorophenyl)-2-hydroxytetronic acid, was synthesized from alpha-(p-chlorobiphenyl)-alpha-hydroxyacetic acid (1) through 7 steps as a potentially bioactive compound.

Objective : Based on immunological mechanisms, this study examined whether subcutaneous (s.c.) injection of Clematis mandshurica Maxim. water extract (CMA) has anti-inflammatory effects, and its effect on $TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-1 and IL-10 release from synoviocytes on adjuvant arthritis (AA) in the rat. Methods : Complete Freund's adjuvant was used to induce AA in rats. Synoviocytes were separated by the method of collagenase and DNase digestion Synoviocytes proliferation was assayed by 3-(4, 5 dimethylthiazol 2 yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. $TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-1 and interleukin-10 (IL-10) production of synoviocytes was measured with ELISA. The expression of IL-10 mRNA of synoviocytes was determined using RT PCR. Results : There were significant secondary inflammatory reactions in AA rats, accompanied by the decrease of body and immune organs weight simultaneously. Synoviocytes proliferation of AA rats significantly increased, and the levels of $TNF-{\alpha}$ and IL-1 in supernatants of synoviocytes in AA rats were also elevated compared with the sham group. The administration of CMA (2, 5, 10 mg/kg, s.c.) reduced the above changes significantly. In contrast to $TNF-{\alpha}$ and IL-1, IL-10 production and the level of its mRNA of synoviocytes in AA rats apparently decreased. CMA (2, 5, 10 mg/kg, s.c.) markedly increased IL-10 in synoviocytes at protein and transcription level. Conclusion : The results indicate that CMA has a beneficial effect on rat AA due to modulating inflammatory cytokine production of synoviocytes, which play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of this disease.

Thermal diffusivities of white muscled fish meat paste products were measured and an experimental equation for prediction of the thermal diffusivity was suggested. The thermal diffusivities of products with water contents of 43.03 to $82.49\%$ and lipid contents of 0.50 to $14.88\%$ could be deduced as following equations ; $$\alpha_{80.39^{\circ}C}=0.0832{\cdot}10^{-6}{\cdot}X_w+0.0797{\cdot}10^{-6},\;m^2{\cdot}s^{-1}$$ $$\alpha_{100.63^{\circ}C}=0.0873{\cdot}10^{-6}{\cdot}X_w+0.0830{\cdot}10^{-6},\;m^2{\cdot}s^{-1}$$ $$\alpha_{120.09^{\circ}C}=0.0842{\cdot}10^{-6}{\cdot}X_w+0.0901{\cdot}10^{-6},\;m^2{\cdot}s^{-1}$$ From these equations, an experimental equation was derived for the prediction of thermal diffusivities of white muscled fish meat paste products ; $$\alpha=(1.308+0.1324{\cdot}X_w){\cdot}\alpha_w-0.0626{\cdot}10^{-6}{\cdot}X_w-0.1355{\cdot}10^{-6},\;m^2{\cdot}s^{-1}$$ The errors of the thermal diffusivities predicted with this equation were less than ${\pm}\;0.30\%$ compared with those measured.

Let M be a hypersurface of dimension n(.geq.2) in an (n+1)-dimensional real space form over bar M(c) with constant curvature c and H the second fundamental tensor of M. M is said to be birecurrent if here exists a covariant tensor field .alpha. of order 2 such that .del.$^{2}$H=H .alpha., where .del. is the connection of M. Also, M is said to be recurrent if there exists a 1-form .betha. such that .del.H=H .betha.. Matsuyama [2] recently proved that a recurrent hypersurface M in a real space form is locally symmetric and a complete irreducible birecurrent hypersurface M in a real space form is recurrent. The main purpose of this paper is to characterize the birecurrent or recurrent hypersurface M of a Riemannian manifold with constant curvature c and to prove that M is classified as a cylinder, $M^{n}$ (c) or ( $c_{1}$)* $M^{n-r}$ ( $c_{2}$) where 1/ $c_{1}$+1/ $c_{2}$=1/c.

A new gene encoding an acidophilic TEX>$\alpha$-amylase of Bacillus cil-culans KCTC3004 was cloned into Eschericlzia coli using pUC19 as a vector. The gene localized in the 5.8 kb PstI DNA fragment was expressed independently of its orientation in the cloning vector showing enzyme activity about 40 times greater than that produced by the original B, circulans The optimum pH and temperature of the cloned enzyme were pH 3.6 and 45^{\circ}C.$ respectively. The enzyme hydrolyzed starch to produce maltotriose and maltooligosaccharides. The SDS-PAGE and zymopram of the enzyme produced in E coli(p.4L850) indicated a molecular weight of 55,000.
