On English Non-DP Subjects and their Structural Position (영어 non-DP 주어의 구조적 위치)

  • This paper discusses so called the non-DP subject constructions in English. In general, a subject is a DP that bears Nominative case and that occupies 〔Spec, IP〕. However, in some examples under investigation, it looks as if non-DP categories such as Prepositional Phrases(PP), Adjectival Phrases(AP), Adverbial Phrases (AdvP), Small Clauses (PreP or SC), and VP occupy the canonical subject position, 〔Spec, IP〕. Under the framework of Chomsky's (1993, 1995) along with his previous works (Chomsky 1981, 1986), the Case Checking mechanism undoubtedly assumes that only DPs can have Case Therefore, the Case Checking/Agree mechanism is stated such that the strong uninterpretable feature, in this case Case feature (D or NP) feature must be checked off in a certain manner. Therefore, any phrasal categories other than DPs are not included in the considerations. Nonetheless, there are many instances of non-DP categories in English that occupy the seemingly canonical subject position, 〔spec, IP〕. In this paper, it is proposed that the actual position of these non-DP subjects in English is not in Spec of IP. Rather, they occupy 〔Spec, TopP〕 under CP in the sense of Lasnik & Stowell (1991), Rizzi (1997), and Haegeman & Gueron (1999). In its effect, therefore, this paper extends the idea of Stowell (1981) who argues that the clausal subjects in English is not in 〔Spec, IP〕, but in 〔Spec, TopP〕. We further argue that Stowell's version of Case Resistance Principle must be extended in order to accomodate many more occurrences of so called non-DP subjects.

  • Let R be a commutative ring with identity, and ${\phi}:{\mathfrak{I}}(R){\rightarrow}{\mathfrak{I}}(R){\cup}\{{\varnothing}\}$ be a function where ${\mathfrak{I}}(R)$ is the set of all ideals of R. Following [2], a proper ideal P of R is called a ${\phi}$-prime ideal if $x,y{\in}R$ with $xy{\in}P-{\phi}(P)$ implies $x{\in}P$ or $y{\in}P$. For an ideal I of R, we define the ${\phi}$-radical ${\sqrt[{\phi}]{I}}$ to be the intersection of all ${\phi}$-prime ideals of R containing I, and show that this notion inherits most of the essential properties of the usual notion of radical of an ideal. We also investigate when the set of all ${\phi}$-prime ideals of R, denoted $Spec_{\phi}(R)$, has a Zariski topology analogous to that of the prime spectrum Spec(R), and show that this topological space is Noetherian if and only if ${\phi}$-radical ideals of R satisfy the ascending chain condition.

  • We designed and implemented streaming server based on MEPG DASH, which is able to provide high quality video with low-latency live streaming service like 360 VR video on the existing cable network via low-spec media service devices such as IPTV and OTT(Over the Top) SettopBox. We also designed and applied management process which is cable of supporting services by cashing streaming video file(MPD, Segment Files) to reduce the server response delay time. Further more, we confimred that it is also able to provide high quality of tiled video streaming with over 50,000kbps bitrate and 8K@60P through the experiment.

Effects of Supplemented PROSOL® as an Emulsifier on Growth Performance and Carcass Characteristics in Hanwoo Steers of Final Fattening Period (수용성 지방유화제 첨가가 비육후기 한우거세우의 발육과 도체성적에 미치는 영향)

  • Fifty four Hanwoo steers in final fattening period were assigned to 3 groups control, top dressed $PROSOL^{(R)}$ as an emulsifier (TP) and DSP group (experimental diet made to down spec of nutrients with $PROSOL^{(R)}$, which is sodium stearoyl-2-lactylate), based on the body weight (647.96${\pm}$41.31 kg) and months of age (27.3${\pm}$0.8 mo), and the experiment was conducted to establish the reasonable fattening method of Hanwoo steers for 91 days. Average daily body gains during trial were 0.94, 0.84 and 0.98 kg in control, TP and DSP, respectively (P=0.011). DDMI/ADG of TP group tend to lightly improving compared to control and DSP group (P=0.692). There was no effect of supplementation of the $PROSOL^{(R)}$ in concentrates on growth rate, feed efficiency and shrinkage in Hanwoo steers during the short final fattening period. MQI from TP and DSP was not different based on the rib-eye area and carcass weight in carcass than that from control. Back fat thickness tended to be thicker than control (P>0.05). Marbling score, texture and maturity for TP and DSP was abundantly to increase compared to control (P<0.003). There was significantly increment in supplemented $PROSOL^{(R)}$ (P<0.0001). The meat quality grade of control, TP and DSP were 2.94, 3.78 and 4.50, respectively. Related to this result, the auction price (carcass/kg) were gained significantly (P<0.003) from control (17,560), TP (18,586) and DSP (19,266 won) so which the monetary return was the highest in DSP and the differences was recognized between TP and DSP. Percentage over 1st grade appeared in control, TP and DSP were 55.4, 88.9 and 100.0%, respectively. These results supported the hypothesis that supplementation of emulsifier improve the marbling score and the carcass quality grade by increased digestibilities of the feed fat in Hanwoo steers in fattening period.
