A Study Based on Quantifying Theory for a Non-fiction Creation Tool : Focus on Comparative Analysis of and (정량화 이론을 활용한 논픽션 창작도구 모델 연구 : <소트 오피스> 및 <스토리헬퍼> 비교분석 중심으로)

  • This paper points out that the existing digital story creation tools are biased in the field of entertainment storytelling, so it proposes a specialized tool for non-fiction creation. This paper selects Quantifying Theory to design this tool. When creating nonfiction storyline, it is important to have the appropriate combination between the actual events and fictional elements. A Gossip System, based on Quantifying Theory, is suitable for that work. Before designing a Gossip System as a nonfiction creation tool, this analysis evaluated that the Gossip System in and . As a result, the linked structure in is useful in searching for material for non-fiction creation, and the separated structure in is ideal for arranging dramatic events. This paper proposed a method of switching the fact to fiction through a combination of this two Gossip System structure. I conclude that this is the best method for non-fiction creation tool.

A Study on the Ending Type of Movie Plot from the Viewpoint of Problem Based Storytelling : Focusing on 'StoryHelper' (문제 기반 스토리텔링의 관점에서 본 영화 플롯의 결말 유형 연구 : '스토리헬퍼'를 중심으로)

  • The problem-based storytelling of the three-act structure, which sees the plot of the story as a solution to the problem of the character, has been the guide of creation to the creator of popular stories since Aristotle. Also problem-based storytelling has served as a schema that provides dramatic catharsis to the audience of the story, and one of the dramatic catharsis It has been working as a schema. This problem - based storytelling has been used as a structure for story production programs that have been developed since the 1980s. However, this story authoring program is focused only on the external problem of the story, but it has the limitation of producing the story that can not solve the internal problem of the character and provide the catharsis. This paper analyze the plot structure of 'StoryHelper', which is a domestic story authoring program, and the ending of 900 films, both domestic and foreign, which are database in 'StoryHelper'. 'StoryHelper' presents a problem-based plot structure that can consider not only external problems but also internal problems by applying causality and mythical episodes. The structure of these plots is based on the parameters of external problem solving, unresolved internal problem solving, and unresolved variables maturity plot(542films), disillusion plot(111films), education plot(132films), tragedy plot(205films). The results of this analysis are expected to provide a meaningful structure for plot-based creative and creative program development.

An Analysis of Search Log from a Story Database Service and a New Story Search Method based on Story Map (스토리 검색 서비스의 사용자 기록 분석 및 스토리맵에 의한 새로운 스토리 검색 방법)

  • is a service providing story synopsis that matches user's query. This paper analyzes the user log of and shows the tendency distribution of user creation in comparison to stories in database. We also investigate the log to see possible improvements on search method. This paper proposes a concept of Story Map, in which the query-answer information is projected into spatial coordinates, and a new story search UI based on it. Using the Story Map, users are able to see entire spatial distribution of story database so that they can quickly and intuitively find a story on the map.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a storytelling board game model using cards, focusing on motif theory illustrated at , a type of software that supports story-making. First, the study categorizes storytelling board games into 4 types, then sets a development objective. Furthermore, after creating a 205 types of motif cards according to motif categorizing system, the study presents development model of both basic and expansion mode. The study aims to verify its game characteristics and elaborate its model through focus group tests henceforth.

  • Creative writing process begins with memory that contains general experience of the human. In the past creative writing was regarded as exclusive ability of the human. But today, thanks to digital technology digital story creation programs are being developed. This study compares and analyzes the story creation programs, the and the , that imitate a process of interaction between human's long term memory and creative writing. The tried to create probable story by emphasizing character's goal in building case database and retrieving cases. On the other hand, the tried to assist writer's ideation by emphasizing violating motif in building case database and retrieving cases. Hereafter, use of digital media in creating story is expected to accelerate. In this prospect, this study hope to help a development of story creation program in the future.

  • is a service providing story synopses that match user's query. This paper presents a classification of character types by clustering of character tendencies found in the user log of . We also present a visualization method of showing genre-action relationships to each character type, and investigate the genre-action relationships of the major character types. We found that a small number of character types can represent more than half of the character tendencies and the character types tend to have a relationship to particular genres and actions. According to this properties, it would be desirable to provide supports for creative writing classified by character types.
