The Effect of Gasket Shape and Material Properties on Heat Losses in a Refrigerator (냉장고 가스켓 주위 형상 및 물성치 변화에 의한 열손실 영향 연구)

  • The amount of heat loss of a refrigerator through the gasket is nearly 30% of total refrigerator heat loss. In this paper, quantitative evaluation for the effects of various effort to reduce heat losses through the gasket. The first trial is to extend the inner gasket to prevent the heat loss flowing from the inner of refrigerator. The effects of thermal conductivity changes of gasket and magnet are investigated by the numerical heat transfer analysis. The position change of hot line is also examined in the present research. From the present result of the numerical simulation of heat transfer, we are able to reduce the heat loss about 20~40% by using inner gasket extension. The reducing of thermal conductivity of gasket is considerable in the heat loss reduction. On the other hand, the thermal conductivity change of magnet has no apparent effect in heat loss reduction. The position change of hot line has considerable positive effect in the reduction of heat loss near gasket region.

  • Symbiotic stars are known as binary systems with both cool and hot components with enshrounding nebulous gas. The cool component, M-type giant, is presumably loosing its mass into a hot white or main sequence companion star through the inner Lagrangian point. The lines emit from the ionized nebulous region around the hot star while the mass loss or accretion activity is believed to be the main cause of sudden variation of the continuum and line fluxes. We selected 17 symbiotics for which the emission line fluxes were measured from the IUE SWP, LWR data, to find variability of spectrum. We also investigated the periodic variation of emissions or eclipsing effect from the IUE lines. All of our symbiotics show very high electron densities in the emission regions. For other optical symbiotics, the observations had been carried in 1999 with BOAO mid-resolution spectrometer. We classified symbiotics based on their outburst activities, or emission line characteristics, i.e., $OVI{\lambda}6830.\;The\;OVI{\lambda}6830$ emission lines are also found in S-type symbiotics, which have been known as charateristics of D-types.

Effects of ChongMyung-Tang and ChongMyung-Tang added Hibiscus syriacus Hot water extract & Ultra-fine Powder on Microglia and Memory Deficit Model (총명탕(聰明湯)과 목근피총명탕(木槿皮聰明湯) 열수추출물, 초미세분말제형이 microglia 및 기억력 감퇴 병태모델에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was designed to investigate the effect of the CMT and MCMT hot water extract & ultra-fine powder on microglia and memory deficit model. The effects of the CMT and MCMT hot water extract on expression of IL-l${\beta}$, IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$, NOS-II, COX-2, IL-10, TGF-${\beta}$1 mRNA and production of IL-lP, IL-6, TNF-a, NO, ROS in BV2 microglial cell line treated by lipopolysacchaide(LPS) ; serum glucose, uric acid, AChE activity of the memory deficit mice induced by scopolamine , behavior of the memory deficit mice induced by scopolamine and were investigated, respectively. The CMT and MCMT hot water extract suppressed the expression of IL-1${\beta}$, IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$, NOS-II, COX-2 mRNA, production of IL-l${\beta}$, IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$, NO, ROS and increased the expression of IL-10, TGF-${\beta}$l mRNA in BV2 microglial cell line treated by LPS. The MCMT hot water extract & ultra-fine powder increased glucose, decreased uric acid and AChE significantly in the serum of the memory deficit mice induced by scopolamine. The CMT and MCMT hotwater extract & ultra-fine powder groups showed significantly inhibitory effect on the scopolamine-induced impairment of memory in the experiment of Morris water maze. According to the above result, it is suggested that the CMT and MCMT hot water extract & ultra-fine powder might be usefully applied for prevention and treatment of dementia.

  • Hot carrier induceed the performance degradation of sense amplifier circuit in DRAM has been measured and analyzed using 0.8.mu.m CMOS process. Simulation and experimental results show that the degradation of the MOS devices affects the decrease of the half-Vcc, voltage gain and the increase of the sensing voltage gain and the increase of the sensing voltage. The dominant degradation mechanism is the capacitance imblance in the bit-line pair. We carried out the spice simulation to investigate the degradation of the sense amplifier circuit.

  • A diagnosis methodology for thickness quality in hot finishing mill is proposed based on multivariate statistical analysis. The thickness of hot strip is a key quality factor that is measured by x-ray thickness gauge. Currently, the thickness quality is guaranteed by upper and lower limit of thickness deviation from target thickness. But if any over-limit is occurred, there is no in-line method to identify the causes.   • In this study, a computer program was developed which generates automatically a drawing of the forging design in axisymmetric hot-forging of steel. The program designs a forging envelope from a machined part geometry according to forging design rules: parting line, draft angles, fillet and corner radii, minimum web and rib thicknesses. For the purpose of verification, the program was applied to a machined part from a factory. It was found that the generate forging design agreed well with the actual one used in the factory.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of alloying and rolling condition on the mechanical properties and to develop high strength line pipe steels with good toughness. Tests were carried out by the laboratory experiments followed by mill trials and mass production. It was found that a small addition of microalloying elements, such as Nb, V with Mo or Ti remarkably increased the strength and toughness of hot strips. The optimum condition of thermomechanical rolling on low carbon microalloyed steel improved the toughness through the formation of a fine and uniform microstructure. Based on this mill trials following the fundamental research, the production technology of line pipe steels, grade X70∼X100 with high toughness, has been established. These grade steels exhibit excellent low temperature toughness (vTs= under -80$^{\circ}C$) and sufficient strength in both the base metal and the ERW seam weld position, respectively.

  • This research is about the drying and curing characteristic of conductivity metallic ink on-line curing device in order to improve the curing time for productivity in RFID Gravure printing. The curing process is carried out to increase the electric conductivity after the metallic ink is printed on the substrate. The metal ink is composed of nano-sized silver or copper particles. In this research, the combined IR and Hot air curing system is used and its results is compared with those of oven, IR and Hot Air type respectively. Generally the curing time in the past is about 3 minutes. But the combined system (IR+Hot Air) in this research shows that curing time is less than 30 seconds. These results is much faster than those of other system. This study can be help to make Roll-to-Roll drying and curing process for mass and continuous production on-line.

  • The mean temperature prediction of strip is very important in hot strip finishing mill because of affecting on product quality and shape. Also, temperature can be used by basic information in other on-line control models with affecting control accuracy in factory. So, FE based on-line temperature model was developed for predicting strip mean temperature accurately in various process conditions and factory environments. There are many variables in affecting strip mean temperature in on-line states of factory. But some problems are occurred in considering all variables for making temperature model because of the bad efficiency of regression or fitting analysis. In this report, we have adopted dimensional analysis for solving these problems. We have many variables with dimensions affecting strip temperature but we are able to make non-dimensional variables less than dimensional variables from the combination of dimensional variables caused by PI-Theorem in fluid mechanics. The developed models are divided by two parts. The one is interstand temperature prediction model. The other is roll gap temperature model.

The Effects of Hot Temperature on Impulsive Behaviors: The Role of Product Types as a Moderator

  • Temperature and weather are all around us, quite literally. Furthermore, temperature and weather not only permeate our atmosphere, constantly affecting our visceral states of warmth and coldness, but they metaphorically permeate our language. People, products, and ideas can all be "hot" or "cold." Given this ubiquity, it is perhaps surprising that relatively little research has systematically examined the influence of temperature on choice and judgment. Temperature-related words such as "hot" and "cold" are often used to describe impulsive and calculated behaviors, respectively. These metaphoric connotations of thermal concepts raise the question as to whether temperature, psychological states and decision making are related to each other, and if so, how. The current research examines these questions and finds support for a relationship. Across one field study and one laboratory experiment, I demonstrate that both hot ambient room temperature (Spa) and hot temperature primes (words) trigger decision outcomes in line with the metaphoric association between hot temperature and impulsivity. In the field study, participants were recruited in hot (40-50 degrees Celsius) and cold (10 degrees Celsius) rooms at a spa. Participants were simply asked to indicate their willingness-to-pay (WTP) for three product categories (travel package, birthday dinner, and cell phone). The results showed that participants in the hot room in comparison to those in the cold room were willing to pay more for the same products. Next, I tested if our results would go beyond ambient temperature and would hold if I were to prime temperature concepts by using a different priming method (i.e., subliminal vs. supraliminal). In line with the previous findings in the spa, participants in the hot priming condition were more likely to choose the wrong answer for the bat and baseball question than those in the cold priming condition. In addition, product type (e.g., pleasure vs. necessity) can moderate the effect of hot temperature on impulsivity. Mood and arousal did not mediate participants' responses. My findings seem to suggest that the effects of temperature on decision outcomes can be attributed to metaphoric associations rather than incidental mood or arousal. The current research applies a novel perspective in understanding the relationship between temperature and judgment and decision making. Also, the results have practical implications for packaging, advertising, merchandising, and pricing of goods and services, as well as for public policy and awareness. One of the most natural implications of my findings would be that retailers would be better off carrying more impulse purchase items on hot days. Furthermore, point-of-purchase promotions encouraging impulse purchase is more likely to be effective in retail environments with higher temperature than with lower temperature. In addition, advertisements and product packages evoking hot temperature associations (e.g., beach, sunshine, summer) might lead consumers to pay higher price for the advertised product than those with cold temperature associations.
