  • It is reported that there is a limit in increasing heavy-weight impact noise isolation performance of the load bearing wall system apartments to meet the regulation of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT). To increase the heavy-weight impact noise isolation performance, improvement in structural systems such as increasing concrete slab thickness and application of rahmen structure were proposed. In this study floor impact sound levels from toil apartments with two rahmen structure multi-story residential buildings were measured before the construction of the buildings finished. Measurements were made at living room and two bedrooms at each apartment when the finishing processes were finished. The average value of light-weight impact sound level from ten apartments was 56dB (L'$\sub$n,Aw/). The heavy-weight impact sound level was 44dB (L'$\sub$i.Fmax.Aw/) and the impact sound level of the impact ball was 41dB(L'$\sub$i.Fmax.Aw/), As a result floor impact noises at the rahmen structure system were lower than the regulation level.

  • In this paper, the finite element method is applied to investigate the effect of the lateral boundary in homogenous soil on the seismic response of a superstructure. Some influencing factors are presented and discussed, and several parameters are identified to be important for conducting soil-structure interaction experiments on shaking tables. Numerical results show that the cross-section width L, thickness H, wave propagation velocity and lateral boundaries of soil layer have certain influences on the computational accuracy. The dimensionless parameter L/H is the most significant one among the influencing factors. In other words, a greater depth of soil layer near the foundation should be considered in shaking table tests as the thickness of the soil layer increases, which can be regarded as a linear relationship approximately. It is also found that the wave propagation velocity in soil layer affects the numerical accuracy and it is suggested to consider a greater depth of the soil layer as the wave propagation velocity increases. A numerical study on a soil-structure experimental model with a rubber ring surrounding the soil on a shaking table is also conducted. It is found the rubber ring has great effect on the soil-structure interaction experiments on shaking table. The experimental precision can be improved by reasonably choosing the elastic parameter and width of the rubber ring.

  • Resolution of enantiomers of DNS-amino acids has been achieved by a reversed phase liquid chromatography with an addition of a copper(Ⅱ) complex of N-benzyl-L-hydroxyproline to the mobile phase. N-Benzyl-L-hydroxyproline was prepared and used as a chiral ligand of copper(Ⅱ) chelate for the optical resolution. The pH and the concentration of copper(Ⅱ) chelate, organic solvent, and buffer agent in the mobile phase all affect the optical resolutions of dansyl amino acids. The elution orders between D and L-DNS-amino acids were different depending on the structure of the side chain of the amino acids. The retention mechanism for the chiral separation of the dansyl amino acids can be illustrated by the equilibrium of ligand exchange and by hydrophobic interaction with $C_{18}$ stationary phase. The chiral separation can be illustrated with cis and trans effect of the ligand exchange reaction.

  • TZM alloy having elongated coarse-grain structure was developed by three-step internal nitriding treatment at 1423 to 1873 K in $N_2$ and subsequent recrystallization treatment at 2173 K in vacuum. Some specimens were subjected to re-nitriding treatment at 1873 K for 16 h. After the recrystallization treatment, aspect ratio (L/W) of grains for rolling direction was about 50 at the maximum. Yield stress obtained at 1773 K after re-nitriding treatment was about 6 times as large as that of recrystallized specimen. Re-nitriding was very effective in the improvement in strength of TZM alloy having elongated coarse-grain structure.

  • To analyze between water quality and community structure of benthic macroinvertebrates, we selected four reservoirs (Lake Sayeon, Lake Daeam, Seonam reservoir and Lake Hoeya) in Ulsan-si and studied them from February 2010 to October 2010. The annual mean BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) in the four lakes was $14.2mg\;L^{-1}$, and Seonam reservoir had the highest deviation in BOD. The maximum BOD for every lake was in February and their minimum in May, except for Lake Hoeya whose minimum was in July. The means of various nutrients were as follows: TN $0.051mg\;L^{-1}$, TP $0.100mg\;L^{-1}$, $NH_3-N\;0.606mg\;L^{-1}$, and $NO_3-N\;0.014mg\;L^{-1}$. The maximum TN was measured in June and the maximum and minimum TP were measured in March and in May respectively in the four lakes. Benthic macroinvertebrates were surveyed in April and October 2010. The number of benthic macroinvertebrates species was in the range of 16~36 and the average number of individuals were 58~208 inds. $m^{-2}$. Seonam reservoir, which has the highest mean TN ($0.082mg\;L^{-1}$) and $NO_3-N$($0.023mg\;L^{-1}$), had the largest number of species (36 species, 208 inds. $m^{-2}$). Pearson's correlation between the number of macro invertebrates species and TN was 0.962 (P<0.05), and between the species and $NO_3-N$ was 0.999 (P<0.05). These results show that the number of benthic macroinvertebrates species of the four lakes in Ulsan-si is significantly correlated with TN and $NO_3-N$.

  • STS304L of membrane structure has been used for a LNG storage tank and has exposed long time under the cryogenic temperature. The purposes of this study are to evaluate the mechanical properties of base and used materials for STS304L of membrane. The tensile and high cycle fatigue tests were investigated for STS304L of membrane used over 20 years at room temperature and $-162^{\circ}C$. In addition, the test of base STS304L was performed in order to compare with used material properties. The chemical composition and phase change were investigated from EDS and XRD. From results of tensile test, yield and ultimate tensile strengths of used STS304L are smaller than those of base STS304L. S-N curves were obtained from fatigue tests at both temperatures. Also, P-S-N curves were presented with statistical method recommend by JSME-S002. Fractography was conducted for analysis of fracture mechanisms.

  • Direct decomposition of methane over three types of carbon black (N330-p, N330-f, and HI-900L) was carried out in a fluidized bed quartz reactor. Properties of carbon black before and after reaction were measured and found to be related with surface structure and weight gain. For N330-p and N330-f, some carbon deposit on the surface was considered to be the reason for the increase of BET surface area and pore volume with weight gain. Carbon deposits on the surface and the conglutination of some aggregates may explain the slight increase of particle size. Properties of HI-900L changed much more significantly with weight gain. It is supposed that the increase of aggregate size of HI-900L were due to some unknown oily components. The corresponding agglomeration might be the reason for the decrease of BET surface area with weight gain, as compared with the increase of that for the case of N330 black.

  • The HCCI engines have been known with high efficiency and low pollution and can be actualized as the new internal combustion engines. However, As for(??) the ignition and combustion depend strongly on the oxidation reaction of the fuel, so it is difficult to control auto-ignition timing and combustion duration. Purpose of this paper is creating the database for development of multi-dimensional simulation and investigating the influence of different molecular structure. In this research, the effect of n-heptane mole ratio in fuel (XnH) on the ignition delay from homogeneous charge compression ignition(HCCI) has been investigated experimentally. By varying the XnH, it was possible to ascertain whether or not XnH is the main resource of ignition delay. Additionally, the information on equivalence ratio for varying XnH was obtained. The tests were performed on a RCM (Rapid Compression Machine) fueled with n-heptane and iso-octane. The results showed that decreasing XnH (100, 30, 20, 10,0), the ignition delays of low temperature reaction (tL) and high temperature reaction (tH) is longer. And the temperature of reaction increases by about 30K. n-heptane partial equivalence ratio (fnH) affect on tL.and TL. When ${\phi}$nH was increased as a certain value, tL was decreased and TL was increased.

  • This paper was studied on microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion characteristics of 316L stainless steel pipe welds was fabricated by orbital welding process. S-Ar specimen was fabricated by using Ar purge gas and S-$N_2$ specimen was fabricated by using $N_2$ purge gas. Ferrite was not detected in weld metal of S-$N_2$ specimen but the order of 0.13 Ferrite number(FN) was detected in weld metal of S-Ar specimen. Oxygen and Nitrogen concentration of S-$N_2$ specimen was higher than S-Ar specimen on HAZ and inner bead. The welds microstructural characteristics of S-Ar and S-$N_2$ specimens are similar. The microvickers hardness values of S-Ar and S-$N_2$ specimens welds were similar and average values of each regions were in the range of 174~194. The microstructures of S-Ar and S-$N_2$ weld metal were full austenite by primary austenite solidification. The Solidification structures of S-Ar and S-$N_2$ weld metal were formed directional dendrite toward bead center. The potentiodynamic polarization curve of STS 316L pipe welds exhibited typical active, passive, transpassive behaviour. Corrosion current density$(I_{corr.})$ and corrosion rate values of S-Ar specimen in 0.1M HCl solution were $0.95{\mu}A/cm^2$ and $0.31{\mu}A$/year respectively. The values of S-$N_2$ specimen were $1.4{\mu}A/cm^2$ and $0.45{\mu}m$/year.

  • Metallacyclodimeric complexes of $[(Me_4en)Pd(L)]_2(ClO_4)_4$ ($Me_4en$ = N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine; L = dimethylbis(4-pyridyl)silane (dmps), methylvinylbis(4-pyridyl)silane (mvps)) have been synthesized, and their structures have been characterized by X-ray single crystallography. The skeletal structures consist of one 20-membered metallamacrocycle, two 5-membered metallacycles, and four pyridyl groups. The local geometry around the palladium(II) ion approximates to a typical square planar arrangement with four nitrogen donors. Delicate difference in catalytic effects on hydrogenation was investigated based on the structure of catalyst and substrates.
