Numerical Investigation of Tunable Band-pass\band-stop Plasmonic Filters with Hollow-core Circular Ring Resonator

  • In this paper, we numerically study both band-pass and band-stop plasmonic filters based on Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) waveguides and circular ring resonators. The band-pass filter consists of two MIM waveguides coupled to each other by a circular ring resonator. The band-stop filter is made up of an MIM waveguide coupled laterally to a circular ring resonator. The propagating modes of Surface Plasmon Polaritons (SPPs) are studied in these structures. By substituting a portion of the ring core with air, while the outer dimensions of the ring resonator are kept constant, we illustrate the possibility of red-shift in resonant wavelengths in order to tune the resonance modes of the proposed filters. This feature is useful for integrated circuits in which we have limitations on the outer dimensions of the filter structure and it is not possible to enlarge the dimension of the ring resonator to reach to longer resonant wavelengths. The results are obtained by a 2D finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The introduced structures have potential applications in plasmonic integrated circuits and can be simply fabricated.

공공서비스 IT수용에 대한 사용자 저항요인 : 고속도로 하이패스시스템 사례 (Why Do Laggards Resist the IT Adoption in Public Service? : A Case of Expressway Hi-Pass System)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is (1) to empirically examine why laggards resist IT adoption in public service and (2) to investigate the relationship between resistance and negative behavioral intention. Methods: The questionnaire survey was conducted on expressway users who do not use High-pass system. The collected 232 samples were analyzed using structure equation model method with AMOS 22.0. Results: Resistance is found to be a statistically significant factor affecting intention to reject. Also, incompatibility, privacy concern, status quo inertia and relative advantage are found to be statistically significant factors affecting resistance. Conclusion: Laggards have a tendency to intend to reject IT adoption rather than to postpone. They are affected not by monetary, procedural aspect associated with purchasing or registering OBU(On Board Unit). Incompatibility and relative advantage which are inherent attributes of Hi-pass system are more influential factors than privacy concern and status quo inertia. They make ethical and emotional decision partially affected by public-social factors.

2차원 물리서식처 모형을 이용한 강정고령보 인공하도식 어도의 유인효율 분석 -모래무지를 대상으로- (Analysis of Attraction Efficiency at Kangjung-Goryeng Weir By-pass Fishway Using Two Dimensional Physical Habitat Simulation Model - Focused on Pseudogobio esocius -)

  • 본 연구에서는 한국 낙동강에 위치한 강정-고령보에 설치된 by-pass 어도의 유인효율을 유량 변화에 따라 살펴보고, 어도 유인효율을 극대화할 수 있는 최적의 본류 방류량을 산정하였다. 강정-고령보는 고정보와 가동보로 구성된 혼합식 보로 유량조절이 가능하며, 가동보의 조작에 따라 by-pass 어도 내의 유량이 결정된다. 유인효율의 지표로 목표어종의 HSC(Habitat Suitability Criteria) 지수에 기반한 WUA(Weighted Usable Area)를 삼았다. WUA는 평면 2차원 물리서식처 모형인 River2D를 활용하여 계산하였다. 또한 River2D로 계산된 유속장은 GPS Floater를 활용한 현장관측 자료로 검증하였으며, 어망을 이용한 월별 어류 모니터링 자료로 유인효율 평가의 타당성을 간접적으로 검증하였다. 결과적으로 본 연구 대상인 강정-고령보의 by-pass 어도에서 가장 효과적으로 목표 어류를 유인하기 위해서는 본류의 유량이 190 cms내외를 유지해야 한다. 특히 목표 어류인 모래무지가 봄철(4월~6월)에 산란기를 맞아 상하류로 이동하려는 경향을 띄므로, 이때 적절한 가동보 운영을 통해 본류 유량을 190 cms로 유지하는 것이 필요하리라 사료된다.

NREL 5MW 풍력터빈 제어용 저주파 통과 필터와 드라이브 트레인 댐퍼의 효과 고찰 (A Study on the Effect of Low Pass Filter and Drive Train Damper for the NREL 5MW Wind Turbine Control)

  • It is essential to examine and analyze the power output and load responses together using real-world turbulent wind speeds. In this paper, the power controller and the drive train damper are simultaneously considered using the NREL 5MW wind turbine model, and the damage equivalent load(DEL) of the low speed shaft torque and power output responses according to the natural frequency of the second order low pass filter are simultaneously investigated. Numerical testing is carried out above rated wind speed using commercially available Bladed software. From the viewpoints of DEL reduction of the drive train shaft torque and power output responses, it is shown that the natural frequency of the low pass filter is appropriately about 6 to 10rad/s. And the reduction ratio of the DEL of the low-speed shaft torque decreases as the wind speed becomes higher, and it is confirmed that the reduction ratio is limited to about 20% at high wind speeds.

Moving Vehicle Detection from Single-pass Worldview-3 Imagery Using Spatial Correlation Map

  • MV (Moving Vehicle) detection using satellite imagery is important for traffic monitoring and provides a wide range of observations. Specifically, MV detection methods utilizing the time lag in single-pass optical satellite images have been studied for detecting MVs from a single set of images. Because of limitations in detecting MVs outside of roads, most previous studies required road information to limit the moving object to cars on the road. However, it is difficult to obtain road information from inaccessible areas. Therefore, this study proposed a new method for detecting MVs regardless of their locations from single-pass optical satellite images without using additional data. WV-3 (Worldview-3) satellite images were used, and a spatial correlation coefficient map was proposed to detect spatial displacement which denotes MVs across two WV-3 MS images. Finally, evaluation was performed through quantitative metrics and visual inspection. The evaluation results revealed that the proposed method can detect MV movements from the single-pass satellite images. On the contrary, misdetected or undetected MVs due to radiometric differences between the images could be identified by visual inspection. The performance of the proposed method can be improved by minimizing radiometric variations and adding conditions that are robust to radiometric differences between the images.

The Development of the Narrow Gap Multi-Pass Welding System Using Laser Vision System

  • In the multi-pass welding of pressure vessels or ships, the mechanical touch sensor system is generally used together with a manipulator to measure the gap and depth of the narrow gap to perform seam tracking. Unfortunately, such mechanical touch sensors may commit measuring errors caused by the deterioration of the measuring device. An automation system of narrow gap multi-pass welding using a laser vision system which can track the seam line of narrow gap and which can control welding power has been developed. The joint profile of the narrow gap, with 250mm depth and 28mm width, can be captured by laser vision camera. The image is then processed for defining tracking positions of the torch during welding. Then, the real-time correction of lateral and vertical position of the torch can be done by the laser vision system. The adaptive control of welding conditions like welding currents and welding speeds, can also be performed by the laser vision system, which cannot be done by conventional mechanical touch systems. The developed automation system will be adopted to reduce the idle time of welders, which happens frequently in conventional long welding processes, and to improve the reliability of the weld quality as well.

기억용량 절약과 순회방식 선택이 가능한 디지털 필터의 구성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Implementation of Digital Filters with Reduced Memory Space and Dual Impulse Response Types)

  • In this paper, a direct addressing mode of a microprocessor is introduced to save memory capacity, and also a dedicated digital filter is constructed to speed up the filter processing and to enable an easy selection of the impulse response types. A theoretical analysis has been conducted on the errors caused by the finite word klength, rounding-off and multiplication procedures. The digital filter designed by the proposed method is made into a module which can function as a 7th-order recursive or a 14-order nonrecursive type with a simples witch operation. The proposed filter is implemented on a printed-circuit board. The frequency characteristics of this filter can be controlled by the multiplication values stored in ROMs. A low-pass, a high-pass and a band-pass filter have been designed and their frequency characteristics are verified by actual measurements. For a order higher filer, two filter modules have been cascaded into an integrated filter of 23rd-order non-recursive low-pass type and a 12th-order recursive multiband type. Their frequency characteirstics have been found to agree with the theory.

혁신저항을 매개로 공항에서 바이오 패스의 사용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인분석 (A Study on the Factors Influencing the Intention to Use Bio Pass at Airports through Innovation Resistance)

  • In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, airports around the world are rapidly pushing for smart airports. One ID service based on biometric technology to eliminate congestion and improve airport operation efficiency is one of them. In particular, biopass, which allows you to use the entire journey with one single token without an ID card or boarding pass from arrival at the airport to boarding an aircraft, is emerging as an important technology for smart airports. This study conducted an empirical analysis to identify factors that affect the intention to use in two aspects: the acceptance, and rejection of bio-pass by combining UTAUT and the innovative resistance model. As a result of the study, it was found that the relative advantages and compatibility had a positive effect on the intention to use, and the perceived risk had a negative effect on the intention to use through innovation resistance. This suggests that infrastructure expansion and usage expansion are needed to use time more efficiently at airports, and that the government, airlines, and airport operators need to cooperate to strengthen the security system to relieve users' psychological anxiety.

Turbulence-tolerant Manchester On-off Keying Transmission for Free-space Optical Communication

  • We propose a turbulence-tolerant Manchester on-off keying (M-OOK) transmission for free-space optical (FSO) communication. At the transmitter end, a M-OOK signal featuring a spectrum with low-frequency components absent is modulated and transmitted into a turbulent channel. At the receiver end, a low-pass filter (LPF) -based adaptive-threshold decision (ATD) with LPF-extracted channel-state information (CSI) and a high-pass filter (HPF)-based fixed-threshold decision (FTD) are employed to compensate for the effects of turbulence, owing to the low-frequency spectral characteristics of the turbulent channel. The performance of LPF-based ATD and HPF-based FTD are evaluated for various cutoff frequencies for the LPF and HPF. Besides, the proposed M-OOK transmission is compared to conventional non-return-to-zero OOK (NRZ-OOK) for different data rates. The proposed technique is verified in simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed M-OOK detection with optimized cutoff frequencies of LPF and HPF has better bit-error-rate (BER) performance compared to NRZ-OOK, and it is close to the theoretical ATD with the knowledge of precise CSI under various degrees of turbulence effects.

냉간 압연 공정에 의한 두께 $36{\mu}m$ 동극박 제조 공정 해석 (Fabrication of copper thin foils with 36 microns by cold rolling)

  • In general, by means of the electrodepositing technique, a copper foil sample was prepared with a high purity and a high density. But the mechanical properties of the electrodepositing copper foil was lower than it's the rolling copper foil. However, the production of copper foil with approximately 36 microns thick in rolling process was very difficult. This paper describes the outline of the high accuracy cold rolling in 6 high mill which was developed for the purpose of rolling very thin accurate gauge copper foil(36 micron thick), and give several rolling characteristic of 600 mm wide copper foil. a) Large strain can be accumulated pass by pass in industrial multi-pass rolling processing to overcome large critical strain for thickness accuracy through optimization of rolling schedule. b) Also, permissible tension for rolling 0.45 $\sim$ 0.036 mm thick copper strip stably in accordance with the each pass work had been established by FEM simulation results. c) During the plate rolling process, considerable values of the forces of material pressure on the tool occur. These pressures cause the elastic deformation of the roll, thus changing the shape of the deformation region. A numerical simulation of roll deflection during cold rolling is presented in the paper. d) The proposed pass schedule can roll very thin copper foil of 36 micron thickness to a tolerance of ${\pm}1$ microns. The validity of simulated results was verified into rolling experiments on the copper foil.
