The research was conducted to measure the effect of pressure cooling of 'Fuji' apple during of 24 weeks. Weight loss in pressure cooling was lower than control at 24th week, and firmness in pressure cooling was higher than control. Titratable acidity in control and pressure cooling was 0.0823% 0.1103% in 24 weeks, respectively. Soluble solid content (SSC) in pressure cooling were higher than control. Decayed rate in control and pressure cooling was 46.4% 34.5% in 24 weeks, respectively. Total ascorbic acid contents were decreased in control and pressure cooling during 24 weeks. Therefore, it could be suggested that pressure cooling is more effective than control in storage of 'Fuji' apple.

$HF_1$(1H KOH soluble hemicellulose fraction), $HF_2$(2H KOH soluble hemicellulose fraction) $HF_3$(3H KOH soluble hemicellulose fraction) and $HF_4$(4H KOH soluble hemicellulose fraction) were fractionated from Fuji crude cell wall and purified using Sephacryl S-500 to determine the effects of these hemicellulosic fractions on the Ca- pectate gel formation. By increasing of KOH concentration, from 1 to 4N, hexose peas became higher in led, and molecula weights, especially pentose peaks in high molecular weight. Hemicellulose fractions using gel filtration were composed of $8{\sim}10$ peaks which were $10^4{\sim}143{\times}10^4$ molecular weight. Higher values of hardness, adhesiveness and gumminess were found in low molecular weight than in high molecular weight, also in hexose and uronic acid contained than in hexose contained.
The staining tendency of esthetic restorative material was very important factor for the people who are great concern about the esthetics. Most external stains were superficial and adjustable by routine prophylactic procedure. But some of these stains were remained under superficial stain. Some of these stains were accumulative on external tooth surface and it's removal alter the anatomic contour of restoration. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the staining tendency of esthetic restorative materials to staining solution. In this study two glass-ionomer cements (Fuji II Glass-Ionomer Cement and Fuji II LC Glass-Ionomer Cement) and three composite resins (Sil$\ddot{u}$x Plus, APH and P-50) were evaluated and compared. Total 8 disc-shaped specimens of each material (17mm diameter, Imm thick) were immersed in coffee staining solution. These specimens were divided into one control and 3 experimental groups according to the immersion period as follows : Control: immersed in distilled water during each testing period Group 1 : immersed in staining solution for 6 hours Group 2 : immersed in staining solution for 24 hours Group 3 : immersed in staining solution for 72 hours Staining tendency was evaluated by total color difference(${\Delta}E^*$) of specimen before and after staining by spectorcolorimeteric readings (ColorQUEST Spectrophotometer, U.SA.). The results were as follows : 1. The total color differences of each testing materials were increased with time. 2. Among the experimental groups, the Fuji II Glass Ionomer Cement showed the highest total color difference(6.803) and the Silux Plus showed the lowest total color difference(1.637). 3. In comparison of glass ionomer cements, the total color difference of chemical cured glass ionomer cements(6.803) were higher than light cured glass ionomer cements(3.891) (P<0.01). 4. In comparison of composite resins, the P-50 showed the highest total color difference and the Silux Plus showed the lowest total color difference, but there was not significant difference among composite resins(P>0.05).

Purpose: Fuji apples are one of the top selling exports for South Korea bringing in over $233.4 million in 2013. However, during the last few decades, about half of the Fuji apple orchards have been infected by Apple Marssonina Blotch disease (AMB), a fungal disease caused by Diplocarpon mali., which takes about 40 days to exhibit obvious visible symptoms. Infected leaves turn yellow and begin growing brown lesions. AMB promotes early defoliation and reduces the quality and quantity of apples an infected tree can produce. Currently, there is no prediction model for AMB on the market. Methods: The Precision Agriculture Laboratory (PAL) at the University of Florida (UF) has been working with the National Academy of Agricultural Science, Rural Development Administration, South Korea to investigate the use of hyperspectral data in creating an early detection method for AMB. The RDA has been researching hyperspectral techniques for disease detection at their Apple Research Station in Gunwi since 2012 and disseminates its findings to the local farmers. These farmers were surveyed to assess the state of knowledge of AMB in the area. Out of a population of about 750 growers, 111 surveys were completed (confidence interval of +/- 8.59%, confidence level of 95%, p-value of 0.05). Results: The survey revealed 32% of the farmers did not know what AMB was, but 45% of farmers have had their orchards infected by AMB. Twenty-five percent could not distinguish AMB from other symptoms. Overwhelmingly, 80% of farmers strongly believed an early detection method for AMB was necessary. Conclusions: The results of the survey will help to evaluate the outreach programs of the RDA so they can more effectively educate farmers on the identifying, treating, and mediating AMB.

Statement of problem: The sealing of the opened dentinal tubules that follows the tooth preparation for the prosthodontic restoration is considered as clinical process to reduce postoperative sensitivity. Purpose: This study investigated the effect of desensitization treatment on shear bond strength of luting cements. Materials and Method: Total 80 dentin specimens were divided into two groups according to the kinds of luting cements. Each groups was further divided into 4 subgroups with AQ $bond^{(R)}$, $Saforide^{(R)}$, Diode laser $MDL-10^{(R)}$ application and without desensitization treatment. After desensitization treatment application, Ni-Cr specimens were luted to dentin surface with Fuji $CEM^{(R)}$ and $Panavia-F^{(R)}$. Specimens were placed in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours and shear bond strength between metal and dentin was measured by a universal testing machine. Results: 1. In Fuji $CEM^{(R)}$ cemented groups, the combination of AQ $bond^{(R)}$ showed the greatest strength, followed by diode laser, no desensitizer treatment, and $Saforide^{(R)}$. Both AQ $bond^{(R)}$ and Diode laser groups had a significant difference than no desensitization treatment group and $Saforide^{(R)}$ group(p<0.05). 2. In $Panavia-F^{(R)}$ cemented groups, the combination of Diode laser showed the greatest strength, followed by AQ $bond^{(R)}$, $Saforide^{(R)}$, and No desensitization treatment. All desensitization treatment groups had a significant difference than no desensitization treatment group(p<0.05). 3. All $Panavia-F^{(R)}$ groups showed a significant higher shear bond strength than all Fuji $CEM^{(R)}$ groups(p<0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study showed possibility of bond strength increase after desensitization treatment. The application of desensitization treatments like AQ $bond^{(R)}$, $Saforide^{(R)}$, and Diode laser $MDL-10^{(R)}$ have advantages in exposed dentin surface after tooth prep.
This study was conducted to estimate the shelf-life of 'Fuji' apples (Malus domestica Borkh) after CA storage. Apples stored In 1%O2+3%CO2, 2%O2+3%CO2 and 3%O2+3%CO2 at 2$^{\circ}C$ and 4$^{\circ}C$ for 8 months were stored in air at 10$^{\circ}C$, 80-85% RH for 16days. As a result of objective analysis, apples stored at 2$^{\circ}C$ wert mort effective in retarding the loss of weight flesh firmness, titratable acidity and peel color than those stored at 4$^{\circ}C$, but not the loss of soluble solid. Among storage atmospheres, 1%O2+3%CO2 at 2$^{\circ}C$ was more effective in retarding the loss of flesh firmness and green color than other atmospheres. Shelf-life of apples kept at 2$^{\circ}C$ estimated above 16 days. The contents of acetaldehyde and ethanol were not observed tn make large difference between storage conditions, but ethanol content of apples stored in 3%O2+3%CO2 at 4$^{\circ}C$ was Increased slightly for 16 days. According to sensory evaluations, apples stored at 2$^{\circ}C$ were significantly harder, juicier and more acid than chose stored at 4$^{\circ}C$. Particularly, high scores of apples stored in 1% and 2%O2+3%CO2 at 2$^{\circ}C$ Persisted for 16 days. Juiciness, hardness acidity and sweetness were related to the flesh firmness and titratable acidity. Overall acceptability was closely related to juiciness and hardness.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate on the interfacial morphology between dentin and restorative materials. In this in vitro study, the cavity wall restorated with 3 different kinds of tooth colored restorative materials [resin-modified Glass Ionomer cement (Fuji II LC), composite resin (Z-100), compomer (Dyract)]. The thirty extracted human molar teeth without caries and/or restorations are used. The experimental teeth were randomly divided into three groups of ten teeth each. In each group, Wedge shaped cavities (width: 3mm, length: 2mm, depth: 1.5mm) were prepared at the cementoenamel junction on buccal and lingual surfaces. The adhesive of composite resin were mixed with rhodamine B. Primer of composite resin, Prime & Bond 2.1 of Dyract and liquid of Fuji II LC were mixed with fluorescein. In group 1, the cavity wall was treatment with dentin conditioner, and then restorated with Fuji II LC. In group 2, the cavity wall was treatment with Prime & Bond 2.1 and then restorated with Dyract. In group 3, the cavity wall was etching with 10% maleic acid, applied with primer and bonding agent and then restorated with Z-100. The interface between dentin and restorative materials was observed by fluoresence imaging with a confocal laser scanning microscope. The results were as follows : 1. In Glass ionomer group, adaptation of resin modified Glass-ionomer restoration against cavity wall is tight, but the crack formed inside of restoration were observed. 2. In Dyract group, the penetration of resin tag is shorter and the width of hybrid layer is narrower than composite resin group. 3. In Z-100 group, primer penetrated deeply through dentinal tubule. Also bonding agent was penetrated along the primer, but the penetration length is shorter than primer part, and in 3-D image, the resin tag is conical shape and lateral branch is observed.

Fuji and Jonathan apples were stored at cold room and at CA storage conditions of $3%O_2-2%CO_2$ for Jonathan and $4%O_2-3%CO_2$ for Fuji for 8 months, and then tranferred to air at $20^{\circ}C$, 70%RH to compare the some factors related to texture of the apples stored at different storage conditions during exposure at $20^{\circ}C$. Total pectin content and firmness of the apples reduced, considerably with concomitant increases of water-soluble pectin content and polygalacturonase activity during exposure at $20^{\circ}C$ after storage. And the changes were much more serious in the first 5 days than any other period and in the apples stored at cold room, especially in Jonathan than the apples stored at CA storage conditions. From the sensory test the apples stored at cold room maintained acceptable quality for 5days after removal from storage condition. The acceptability from the test was lenghtened for more than 5 days in Jonathan and more than 10 days for Fuji stored at CA storage conditions. when compared with those of the apples stored at cold room.

Apple (Malus domestica) is one of the most economically important fruits in Korea. But virus infection has decreased sustainable production of apple and caused the serious problems such as yield loss and poor fruit quality. Virus or viroid infection including Apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV), Apple stem pitting virus (ASPV), Apple stem grooving virus (ASGV), Apple mosaic virus (ApMV) and Apple scar skin viroid (ASSVd) has been also reported in Korea, furthermore, its damages and economic losses have increased constantly. In our research, we tried to survey virus infection for commercial nursery trees of major apple cultivars, especially dwarfing rootstocks 'M.9' and 'M.26' as well as scions. Trees were collected from 11 locations which have produced a great amount of apple nursery stocks in Korea. Infection degree was investigated in apple cultivars, 'Hongro' and 'Fuji' using RT-PCR method. In the scion of cultivar 'Hongro', infection ratio of ACLSV, ASPV and ASGV were 100%, 81.8% and 100% respectively. In the rootstock of cultivar 'Hongro', infection ratio of ACLSV, ASPV, ASGV and ApMV were 90.9%, 81.8%, 100% and 9.1% respectively. In the scion of cultivar 'Fuji', infection ratio of ACLSV, ASPV and ASGV were 81.8%, 90.9% and 100% respectively. In the rootstock of cultivar 'Fuji', infection ratio of ACLSV, ASPV, ASGV and ApMV were 81.8%, 90.9%, 100% and 9.1% respectively. Infection of ASSVd was not detected in both cultivars. From our results, it was found that most of apple rootstocks and scions had multiple infections by apple viruses which have caused economic damage in fruit production.
To evaluate the micro leakage of compomer, 4 materials were divided into 4 groups of 15 cavities each.(Group 1: Z-100, Group 2: Dyarct AP, Group 3: Fuji II LC, Group 4: Compoglass) After the class II cavities were prepared using carbide bur No. 553, all specimen were restored by incremental filling technique. In group 3, Z-100 was filled with a base of a light curing glass-ionomer. After 7 days, all specimens were thermocycled between $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$ for 500 cycles, followed by placement in 50% silver nitrate dye for 2 hours at $37^{\circ}C$. After rinsed in distilled water, these teeth were immersed in photodeveloping solution and exposed to fluorescent light for 6 hours. Teeth were then washed in distilled water to remove the photodeveloping solution, sectioned mesio-distally and evaluated. The results were as follows : 1. In the cervical portion, there was significant difference between Fuji II LC and other groups(Z-100, Dyract AP, Compoglass), Fuji II LC had the least value.(p<0.05) 2. In the cervical portion, there was not significant difference among Dyract AP, Z-100 and Compoglass. 3. In the occlusal portion, there was not significant difference among Dyract AP, Z-100 and Compoglass. From the results above, In enamel, microleakage of compomer such as Dyract AP and Compoglass resemble to that of composite resin. It is thought that it is due to characteristics of composite resin portion of compomer. But in dentin, microleakage of compomer is higher than that of resin modified glass ionomer cement, it is thought that in compomer, acid-base reaction is not developed with dentin.
