Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 powders were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis. Using soluble salts such as Pb(NO3)2, TiCl4 and ZrOCl2$.$8H2O and oxide such as PbO and TiO2 as starting materials, PZT powder was hydrothermally synthesized at the temperature range between 150$^{\circ}C$ and 200$^{\circ}C$. The result showed that reactivity by alkali was decreased in the sequence of Pb(NO3)2, TiCl4, ZrOCl2, PbO, TiO2 and ZrO2. Using the first three soluble salts, PZT powder was synthesiged at 150$^{\circ}C$ for 1hr. In PbO-TiCl4-ZrOCl2 system, PZT powder was synthesized at 150$^{\circ}C$ for 8rs. In Pb(NO3)2-TiO2-ZrOCl2 system, PZT powder was synthesized at 150$^{\circ}C$ for 16hrs, in PbO-TiO2-ZrOCl2 system, the powder was synthesized at 200$^{\circ}C$ for 8hrs.
$Pb(Zr, Ti)O_3$ (Pb:Zr:Ti=1:0.52:0.48) thin films were prepared on single crystal MgO(100) substrates by dipping-pyrolysis process using a solution of constituent metal naphthenates as starting materials. The solution was spin-coated onto substrate and the precursor films were pyrolyzed at $200^{\circ}C$ in air or at $200^{\circ}C$ in argon for 1, 2, 5 and 24h, followed by final heat treatment at $750^{\circ}C$. For all the films, highly (h00)/(00l)-oriented Pb$Pb(Zr, Ti)O_3$ thin films with smooth surfaces and crack-free were obtained, whereas thin film pyrolyzed in air for 24 h exhibited polycrystalline character. According to the pole-figure analysis, epitaxy of the product films was found to depend on pyrolysis atmosphere.
Cr2O3 doped Pb(Zr0.525 Ti0.475)O3 piezoelectric ceramics were prepared from reagent grade oxide mixture, PbO, ZrO2, TiO2 and Cr2O3. Piezoelectric and aging properties of specimens were measured for various additions of Cr2O3. Generally, it has been known that aging rate decreased with Cr2O3 addition by stabilizing the domain wall. But hysteresis loops showed that the domain destabilization was occurred at high electric field (larger than 10KV/cm). In smaller additions of Cr2O3 (0-0.2mol%), aging rate increased and microcracks were created with increasing poling filed due to increasing internal stress. In larger additions of Cr2O3(0.4∼0.6mol%), aging rate decreased with increasing poling field.
The microstructure and electrical properties of Pb[(Sb1/2 Nb1/2)0.08 Zr0.49 Ti0.48]O3 with MnO2 addition have been investigated in this work. The amount of MnO2 addition was 0, 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 2.0 wt%, respectively. The soild solution range of MnO2 that assumed in this composition according to thevariations of micro-structure and electrical properties was 0.4-0.8 wt%.
The role of the strain energy and phase stability in the diffuse phase transition have been investigated in the highly disordered solid solution, (Pb1-xBax)(Zr0.4Ti0.6)O3 (0.2 x 0.4). X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that tetragonality (c/a) decreases with the increasing Ba content. Also as the Ba content increases, phase transition becomes more diffuse and at the same time dielectric relaxation as a function of measured frequencies in the 1KHz-10MHz range occurs very pronouncedly. In the Ba content range, 0.2 x 0.35, hysteresis loops are routinely observed and the loop is observed to narrow shape as the Ba content increases but becomes very slim at 40mol% Ba content. Moreover thermal analysis shows that there is no abrupt change in the thermal expansion coefficient below the apparent transition temperature at which dielectric constant becomes maximum. From the above results, it has been concluded that creation of the strain energy due to the distorthion that occurred during the phase transition suppresses diffuse phase transition.

(Ba,Sr,Ca)TiO$_3$ powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were mixed with organic binder and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen printing techniques on alumina substrates. All the BSCT thick films, sintered at 1420$^{\circ}C$, showed the typical XRD patterns of a perovskite polycrystalline structure. The average grain sizes decreased with increasing amounts of ZrO$_2$, and the BSCT(40/40/20) thick films doped with 2wt% MnO$_2$ showed a value of 8$\mu\textrm{m}$. The thickness of thick films by four-cycle on printing/drying was approximately 951$\mu\textrm{m}$. The relative dielectric constant decreased with increasing Ca content and MnO$_2$ doping amount. The relative dielectric constant, dielectric loss and tunability of the BSCT(50/40/10) thick films doped with 2.0wt% ZrO$_2$ were 772, 0.184% and 15.62%, respectively.
Ferroelectric P $b_{0.99}$〔(Z $r_{0.6}$S $n_{0.4}$)$_{0.9}$$Ti_{0.1}$〕$_{0.98}$N $b_{0.02}$$O_3$(PNZST) thin films were deposited by a RF magnetron sputtering on (L $a_{0.5}$S $r_{0.5}$)Co $O_3$(LSCO)/Pt/Ti/ $SiO_2$/Si substrate using a PNZST target with excess PbO of 10 mole%. The thin films deposited at the substrate temperature of 500 $^{\circ}C$ were crystallized to a perovskite phase after rapid thermal annealing(RTA) The thin films annealed at 650 $^{\circ}C$ for 10 seconds in air exhibited the good crystal structures and ferroelectric properties. The remanent polarization and coercive field of the PNZST capacitor were about 20 $\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 50 kV/cm, respectively. The reduction of the polarization after 2.2$\times$10$^{9}$ switching cycles was less than 10 %.0 %.%.0 %.0 %.
Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Extra Low Interstitial) alloy has been widely used as an alternative to bone due to its excellent biocompatibility. However, it still has many problems, including a high elastic modulus and toxicity. Therefore, nontoxic biomaterials with a low elastic modulus should be developed. However, the fabrication of a uniform coating is challenging. Moreover, the coating layer on Ti and Ti alloy substrates can be peeled off after implantation. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to produce bulk Ti and Ti alloy with hydroxyapatite (HA) composites. In this study, Ti, Nb, and Zr powders, which are biocompatible elements, were milled in a mixing machine (24h) and by planetary mechanical ball milling (1h, 4h, and 6h), respectively. Ti-35%Nb-7%Zr and Ti-35%Nb-7%Zr-10%HA composites were fabricated by spark plasma sintering (SPS) at $1000^{\circ}C$ under 70MPa using mixed and milled powders. The effects of HA addition and milling time on the biocompatibility and physical and mechanical properties of the Ti-35%Nb-7%Zr-(10%HA) alloys have been investigated. $Ti_2O$, CaO, $CaTiO_3$, and $Ti_xP_y$ phases were formed by chemical reaction during sintering. Vickers hardness of the sintered composites increases with increased milling time and by the addition of HA. The biocompatibilty of the HA added Ti-Nb-Zr alloys was improved, but the sintering ability was decreased.
Purpose: This systematic review and meta-analysis assessed the diagnostic accuracy of imaging examinations for the detection of peri-implant bone defects and compared the diagnostic accuracy between titanium (Ti) and zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) implants. Materials and Methods: Six online databases were searched, and studies were selected based on eligibility criteria. The studies included in the systematic review underwent bias and applicability assessment using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies 2 (QUADAS-2) tool and a random-effect meta-analysis. Summary receiver operating characteristic (sROC) curves were constructed to compare the effect of methodological differences in relation to the variables of each group. Results: The search strategy yielded 719 articles. Titles and abstracts were read and 61 studies were selected for full-text reading. Among them, 24 studies were included in this systematic review. Most included studies had a low risk of bias (QUADAS-2). Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) presented sufficient data for quantitative analysis in ZrO2 and Ti implants. The meta-analysis revealed high levels of inconsistency in the latter group. Regarding sROC curves, the area under the curve (AUC) was larger for the overall Ti group (AUC=0.79) than for the overall ZrO2 group (AUC=0.69), but without a statistically significant difference between them. In Ti implants, the AUCs for dehiscence defects(0.73) and fenestration defects(0.87) showed a statistically significant difference. Conclusion: The diagnostic accuracy of CBCT imaging in the assessment of peri-implant bone defects was similar between Ti and ZrO2 implants, and fenestration was more accurately diagnosed than dehiscence in Ti implants.
