Carbon dioxide hydrogenation reaction was carried out over hybrid catalyst composed of $Cu/ZnO/ZrO_2$, and MFI zeolites such as HZSM-5, H-Ga-Silicate and H-Fe-Silicate. The hybrid catalyst composed of $Cu/ZnO/ZrO_2$, catalyst and HZSM-5 showed the highest yield and selectivity to $C_2{^+}$ hydrocarbon, which seemed to be due to the largest amount of Br nsted acid sites. Higher yield to $C_2{^+}$ hydrocarbon was obtained over HZSM-5 with lower $SiO_2/Al_2O_3$ ratio and also with longer ion exchange time, which showed larger amount of Br nsted acid sites, respectively. When a metal ion was exchanged into HZSM-5, the highest yield to $C_2{^+}$ hydrocarbon was obtained with descending order $Ga/HZSM-5{\simeq}HZSM-5>Zn/HZSM-5$, i.e., with the amount of $Br\ddot{o}nsted$ acid sites.

Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) buffer layers were deposited by a metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) technique using single liquid source for the application of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$$O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) coated conductor. Y:Zr mole ratio was 0.2:0.8, and tetrahydrofuran (THF) was used as a solvent. The (100) single crystal MgO substrate was used for searching deposition condition. Bi-axially oriented CeO$_2$ and NiO films were fabricated on {100}〈001〉 Ni substrate by the same method and used as templates. At a constant working pressure of 10 Torr, the deposition temperatures (660~80$0^{\circ}C$) and oxygen flow rates (100~500 sccm) were changed to find the optimum deposition condition. The best (100) oriented YSZ film on MgO was obtained at 74$0^{\circ}C$ and $O_2$ flow rate of 300 sccm. For YSZ buffer layer with this deposition condition on CeO$_2$/Ni template, full width half maximum (FWHM) values of the in-plane and out-of-plane alignments were 10.6$^{\circ}$ and 9.8$^{\circ}$, respectively. The SEM image of YSZ film on CeO$_2$/Ni showed surface morphologies without microcrack.k.
The 8mol.%Y$_2$$O_3$-$ZrO_2$mainly employed as an electrolyte of solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs) shows excellent electrical properties but has a weakness in the mechanical properties. Since the electrolyte of SOFCs requires both good electrical and mechanical properties, this study was conducted to meet both requirements. The electrolyte thin films were produced on the LSM(cathode material) substrate of a cell and Si wafer. Four electrolyte film types of single layer and the multiple layer, consisting of 3-YSZ(3mol.%$Y_2$$O_3$) with excellent mechanical properties and 8-YSZ with the excellent electric conduction, were produced by electron beam coating technology. Ther crystal structure and the mechanical properties were also analysed. As the results of the study, the 3-YSZ thin film turned out to be in the tetragonal, partially monoclinic phase, while the 8-YSZ thin film showed the cubic phase. The residual stress in the multiple layer was lower than that of the single layer. The microhardness of the multiple layer was similar to that of the existing 8-YSZ single layer both before and after annealing treatment.

Co-(0.7 wt%) and Pr-(2.0, 3.5 or 5.0 wt%) doped cubic zirconia ($ZrO_2:Y_2O_3=50:50wt%$) single crystals grown by a skull melting method were heat-treated in $N_2$ at $1150^{\circ}C$ for 5 hrs. The brown colored as-grown single crystals were changed into either dark brownish green, greenish blue and light green color after the heat treatment. Before and after the heat treatment, the YSZ (yttria-stabilized zirconia) single crystals were cut for wafer form (${\phi}7.5mm{\times}t3mm$). The optical and structural properties were examined by UV-VIS spectrophotometer and X-ray diffraction. Absorption by $Co^{2+}$(${\fallingdotseq}589nm$: ${\Gamma}_8[^4A_2(^4F)]{\rightarrow}{\Gamma}_8+{\Gamma}_7[^4T_1(^4F)]$, ${\fallingdotseq}610nm$: ${\Gamma}_8[^4A_2(^4F)]{\rightarrow}{\Gamma}_8[^4T_1(^4F)]$], ${\fallingdotseq}661nm$: ${\Gamma}_8[^4A_2(^4F)]{\rightarrow}{\Gamma}_6[^4T_1(^4F)]$]) and $Pr^{3+}$(${\fallingdotseq}450nm$: ${^3}H{_4}-{^3}P{_2}$, ${\fallingdotseq}473nm$: ${^3}H{_4}{\rightarrow}{^3}P{_1}$, ${\fallingdotseq}484nm$: ${^3}H{_4}{\rightarrow}{^3}P{_0}$), change of ionization energy and lattice parameter were confirmed.
The LAS system with good thermal properties has a narrow range of firing and sintering temperature near the melting point. So it is difficult to sinter LAS to dense sintered body. In this study, the petalite (Li2O.Al2O3.8SiO2) with good thermal properties, was taken as a base composition, and zironia was added in this composition to broaden the firing range, increase the mechanical strength, and control the thermal expansion. The thermal and mechanical properties were investigated. The results are as follows; 1. Zirconia phase was formed in LAS matrix and apparent porosity was decreased from 0.9% to 0.5%, and the mechanical strength was kincreased from 112 MPa to 190 MPa, by the densification of body. 2. The composition Li2O.Al2O3.8SiO2 has a negative thermal expansion, but the thermal expansion was changed from negative to positive with the densification and the increase of amount of synthesized zircon phase which had positive thermal expansion. The coefficient of thermal expansion, with the increase of the amount of additives, was low as -0.74~9.06$\times$10-7/$^{\circ}C$ in 20~$600^{\circ}C$, and 7.95~20.13$\times$10-7/$^{\circ}C$ in 20~80$0^{\circ}C$. 3. The mechanical strength of LZ15 (added with ZrO2.SiO2 15 wt%) composition thermal-shocked was stable in the temperature range of 0~$600^{\circ}C$, but rapidly decreased due to the increase of thermal expansion above $600^{\circ}C$.
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) comprising amorphous CoNbZr layers have been investigated. $Co_{85.5}Nb_8Zr_{6.5}$(in at. %) layers were employed to substitute the traditionally used Ta layers with an emphasis given on under-standing underlayer effect. The typical junction structure was $SiO_2/CoNbZr$ or Ta 2/CoFe 8/IrMn 7.5/CoFe 3/Al 1.6 + oxidation/CoFe 3/CoNbZr or Ta 2 (nm). For both as-deposited state and after annealing, the CoNbZr-underlayered structure showed superior surface smoothness up to the tunnel barrier than Ta-underlayerd one (rms roughness of 0.16 vs. 0.34 nm). CoNbZr-based MTJs was proven beneficial for increasing thermal stability and increasing $V_h$ (the bias voltage where MR ratio becomes half) characteristics than Ta-based MTJs. This is because the CoNbZr-based junctions offer smoother interface structure than the Ta-based one.

Ferroeleclric 0.05PZN-xPZT(90/10)-(0.95-x)PZT(10/90) (x=0.65, 0.85) specimens were fabricated by the mixed-oxide method and cold-pressing method using sol-gel derived PZT(90/10) and PZT(10/90) powders. All specimens show a uniform ferroelectric grain without the presence of the pyrocholre phase. Average grain size increased with an increase in sintering temperature, the value for the x=0.65 specimen sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ was 14.4$\mu$m. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the x=0.65 specimen sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ were 1247, 2.06%, respectively. All specimens showed fairly good temperature and frequency stability of dielectric constant with the range from -2$0^{\circ}C$ to 6$0^{\circ}C$ and 100Hz to 10MHz. The coercive field and the remanent polarization of x = 0.65 specimen sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ were 8.5 kV/cm and 13 $\mu$C/cm$^2$, respectively. The pyroelectric coefficient of the x=0.65 specimen sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ was 5.64$\times$10$^{-8}$ C/cm$^2$K, respectively.
New process development of nuclear fuel fabrication for nuclear power plant was attempted by induction plasma technology with yttria-stabilized-zirconia ($\textrm{ZrO}_{2}$-$\textrm{Y}_{2}\textrm{O}_{3}$)powder, similar to $\textrm{UO}_{2}$, in the respect of melting point and physicochemical characteristics. Extent of powder melting was affected greatly by plasma plate power and particle size. Being optimized such as, sheath gas composition, probe position, particle size and spraying distance, dense deposit of 97.91% T.D. with deposition rate 20mm/min was attained at the condition of 120/20$\ell$/min of Ar/$\textrm{H}_{2}$ flow rate, 80kw of plate power, 8cm of probe position, 200Torr of chamber pressure and 18cm of spraying distance. The pellet of 96.5% of theoretical density was formed with homogeneity and nice exterior view at the best condition of deposition experiments, and the possibility of new nuclear pellet fabrication process was confirmed. The main and interrelated effects on deposit density were assessed by ANOVA(Ana1ysis of Variance).
In order to understand its origin and petrogenesis, petrochemical studies of major, trace elements, REE, and stable isotopes of oxygen and carbon from the Hongcheon Fe-REE deposits have been investigated. The Hongcheon Fe-REE deposit intruding into Precambrian metasedimentary rocks consists of magnetite, various carbonates such as ankerite, siderite, magnesite and strontianite, monazite, aegirine-augite, Na-amphibole, and sulfides. Compared with major elements abundances of typical ferro-carbonatites, the Hongcheon Fe-REE deposit is enriched in FeO and depleted in CaO with increasing of $SiO_2$, where $TiO_2$and $A1_2O_3$increased and CaO, FeO, MgO and $P_2O_5$ are slightly decreased, but those are rather scattered and their trends are somewhat ambiguous. V Ni, U and Rb slightly increasing with of $SiO_2$increase and scattering or no trends of other detected elements. Nb, Zr and Zn are depleted then the abundances of typical ferro-carbonatites (Woolley and Kempe, 1989). In rare earth elements a large enrichment of total REE (maximum 14.8 wt%) and LREE relative to chondrites and HREE depleted more then the values of ferro-carbontites therefore La/Lu ratios shows large abundances (max. 16,197). The results of stable isotopes of O and C from minerals of ankerite and strontianite and whole rocks represent studied rocks are from igneous carbonatitic melts. Although petrochemical characteristics of the Hongcheon Fe-REE deposits are somewhat different from normal ferro-carbonatites from the world, this discrepancy suggests another conclusion that petrochemical characteristic of the studied Fe-REE mineralized rocks are similar to those of phoscorites from Kovdor, Russia and Sokli, Finland showing the same petrochemical compositions described above.

In this paper, in order to develop the composition ceramics with the outstanding piezoelectric properties, $Pb(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})_{0.03}(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.09}(Zr_{0.5}Ti_{0.5})_{0.88}O_3$ ceramics substituted with $BiFeO_3$ were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method. The addition of small amount of $Li_2CO_3$ and $CaCO_3$ as sintering aids decreased the sintering temperature of the ceramics. The effects of $BiFeO_3$ substitution on their piezoelectric and dielectric properties were investigated. when 0.015 mol $BiFeO_3$ was substituted, the optimal physical properties of $d_{33}=590pC/N$, $E_c=8.78kV/mm$ were obtained.
