  • This study attempted to identify obese students' stress and coping method in middle and high schools. The data were collected from the total of 600 obese students from middle and high schools in Pusan. The author used a convenience sampling method. The data collection was done from March 2 to April 30. 2001. The analysis of the data was done with SPSS Win(10.0) for descriptive statistics. t-test. and ANOVA. The instrument used for the obese students' stress and coping method was a questionnaire developed by Kim. Yi-Soon and Kim. Young-Hae(200l). The tool was composed of 65 items (33stress items: 32coping method items) with the five-point Likert scale. The results were as follow: 1. The average score of stress was 2.49 (SD = .86) points in the male students. and 2.83(SD= .86) points in the female students. The subcategories were: (outward appearance), (boyfriend/girlfriend), (occurrence of an outbreak of a disease), (relationship within the family), (an obese appearance), (difficulty in exercise). The highest degree of stress came from 'an obese appearance' for the male students (mean=2.64. SD=0.87) and (mean=2.64. SD=0.87) for the female students. 2. The subcategories of the coping method were: (be concerned about other matters), (recreation activities), (self-violence), (relaxation), (hobby activities), (avoid a situation), (communication), (music), (negative behavior), (positive thinking). The highest degree of coping method were (recreation activities) in the male students (mean=3.07. SD=0.86) and (music) in the female students (mean=3.47. SD=1.01). 3. The results comparing stress with demographic variables were significant for gender (t=7.010. p=0.000). grades at school (F=2.918. p=0.02l), degree of obesity (F=5.205. p=0.006). grades (F=2.550. p=0.027). standard of living(F=8.277. p=0.000). the state of health (F=2.882, p=0.022), relationship with the father (F=4.790, p=0.001), relationship with the mother (F=6.080, p=0.000), and the educational level of the father (F=3.192, p=0.013). 4. The results comparing the coping method with demographic variables were significant for gender (t=4.597. p=0.000). These findings contribute to the understanding of the degree of stress and the type of coping methods of obese students in middle and high schools. Therefore, the result of this study aids in an effective nursing intervention to improve the mental health program for the obese.

  • We have fabricated a helmet type magnetoencephalogrphy(MEG) with a $1^{st}$ order gradiometer in vacuum to improve the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) and the boil-off rate of liquid helium(LHe). The axial type first-order gradiometer was fabricated with a double relaxation oscillation SQUID(DROS) sensor which was directly connected with a pickup coil. The neck space of LHe dewar was made to be smaller than that of a conventional dewar, but the LHe boil-off ratio appeared to increase. To reduce the temperature of low Tc SQUID sensor and pickup coil to 9 K, a metal shield made of, such as copper, brass or aluminum, have been usually used for thermal transmission. But the metal shield exhibited high thermal noise and eddy current fluctuation. We quantified the thermal noise and the eddy current fluctuation of metal. In this experiment, we used the bobbin which was made of an alumina to wind Nb superconductive wire for pickup coil and the average noise of coil-in-vacuum type MEG system was $3.5fT/Hz^{1/2}$. Finally, we measured the auditory evoked signal to prove the reliability of coil-in-vacuum type MEG system.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) Thin films were grown on Non-alkarai glass Substrates by PVD method and Subsequently Subjected to ($100^{\circ}C-350^{\circ}C$) Thermal Annealing (TA) In Nitr Oxygen ambinent. Most of all, The effect of TA treatment on the structural properties were studied by using X-Ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy, while optical properties were studied by UV-Transmittance measurements. After TA treatment, the XRD spectra have shown an effective relaxation of the residual compressive stress, As a result, XRD peaks increase of the intensity and narrowing of full width at half-maximun (FWHM). In addtion The microstructure, The surface morphology, the optical transmittance changed and improved, and we investigated The effects of temperature, Time and atmosphere during the TA on the structural and electrical properties of the ITO/glass on TA at $300^{\circ}C$. As a results, the films are highly transparent (80%~89%) in visible region. AFM analysis shows that the films are very smooth with root mean square surface roughness 0.58nm -2.75nm thickness film. It is observed that resistivity of the films drcreases T0 $1.05{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cmt$ $6.06{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$, while mobility increases from $152cm^2/vs$ to $275cm^2/vs$.

  • Fatigue after delivery affect women's birth experience and interrupt the process of labor. Finally woman cannot have a positive birth result and will experience a postpartum fatigue. But researches about fatigue during the labor are lacked. Nurse help adapting a mother's role, bonding with new baby, recovering after birth, and improving woman's quality of life through decreasing fatigue during the labor and intercepting a continued postpartum fatigue. So it is very important that measuring a fatigue and confirming relationships between fatigue and factors affecting fatigue. The purpose of this study was measuring the level of fatigue within 4hours after delivery and identifing factors affecting fatigue. The ultimate goal was to contribute to improving a birth experience and adapting after birth through decreasing the level of fatigue and interventions. The data was collected for this study at the hospital of two universities and the third hospital in Seoul from Aug. 15. to Nov. 10. 2000. The subjects were 106 of mothers who deliveried a normal newborn and were tested within four hours after birth. The instruments were The Visual Analogue Scale for fatigue, The State Anxiety Inventory, and The Labor Support Inventory. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, SD, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation. The results of this study were as follows; (1) The level of fatigue during the labor was 61.48point. (2) The deferences according to general and obstetric character affecting fatigue founded that there were Significant differences according to job(t=2.659, p=0.009), and the type of delivery(t=-2.035, p=0.044). (3) The deferences according to factors affecting fatigue revealed that there was significant difference according to quality of sleep(F=2.935, p=0.037). The significant fatigue and the fatigue after delivery was anxiety(r=0.343, p=0.000). The above findings indicate that the level of fatigue during the labor is higher than during pregnancy and postpartum. Woman having a job, delivering by vacuum was more fatigued. The level of fatigue according to a quality of sleep was significant difference. The poor quality of sleep, higher level of fatigue. And the more anxiety after delivery, the more fatigue. So, the variable nursing interventions for lessening the level of fatigue through appling the situation for rest, relaxation during the labor to reserve energy, and decreasing anxiety should be provided for mothers.

  • Shear failure in soil is the primary cause of most geotechnical structure failures or instability. Soil water content is a significant factor affecting soil shear strength. In this study, the shear strength of samples with different water contents was tested. The shear strength, cohesion, and internal friction angle decreased with increasing water content. Based on the variation of cohesion and internal friction angle, the water content zone was divided into a high-water content zone and low-water content zone with a threshold water content of 15.05%. Cohesion and internal friction angle have a good linear relationship with water content in both zones. Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy (ESEM) test presented that the aggregates size of the compacted loess gradually increases with increasing water content. Meanwhile, the clay in the compacted loess forms a matric that envelops around the surface of the aggregates and fills the inter-aggregates pores. A quantitative analysis of bound water and free water under different water contents using a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) test was carried out. The threshold water content between bound water and free water was slightly below the plastic limit, which is consistent with the results of shear strength parameters. Combined with the T2 distributions obtained by NMR, one can define a T2 relaxation time of 1.58 ms as the boundary point for bound water distribution without free water. Finally, the effects of bound water and free water on shear strength parameters were analyzed using linear regression analysis.

  • The paper attempts to estimate the incubation time of a cavity in the interface between a power law creep particle and an elastic matrix subjected to a uniaxial stress. Since the power law creep particle is time dependent, the stresses in the interface relax. The volume free energy associated with Helmholtz free energy includes strain energies caused by applied stress and dislocations piled up in interface(DPI). The energy due to DPI is found by modifying the result of Dundurs and Mura[4]. The volume free energies caused by both applied stress and DPI are a function of the cavity size(r) and elapsed time(t) and arise from stress relaxation in the interface. Critical radius $r^*$ and incubation time $t^*$ to maximise Helmholtz free energy is found in present analysis. Also, kinetics of cavity formation are investigated using the results obtained by Riede [7]. The incubation time is defined in the analysis as the time required to satisfy both the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions. Through the analysis it is found that 1) strain energy caused by the applied stress does not contribute significantly to the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions of a cavity formation, 2) in order to satisfy both thermodynamic and kinetic conditions, critical radius $r^*$ decreases or holds constant with increase of the time until the kinetic condition(eq. 2.3) is satisfied. there for the cavity may not grow right after it is formed, as postulated by Harris [15], and Ishida and Mclean [16], 3) the effects of strain rate exponent (m), material constant $\sigma$0, volume fraction of the particle to matrix(f)and particle size on the incubation time are estimated using material constants of the copper as matrix.

  • Recently, CG (Conjugate Gradient) scheme for the optimization of the Rayleigh quotient has been proven a very attractive and promising technique for interior eigenvalues for the following eigenvalue problem, Ax=λx (1) The given matrix A is assummed to be large and sparse, and symmetric. Also, the method is very amenable to parallel computations. A proper choice of the preconditioner significantly improves the convergence of the CG scheme. We compare the parallel preconditioners for the computation of the interior eigenvalues of a symmetric matrix by CG-type method. The considered preconditioners are Point-SSOR, ILU (0) in the multi-coloring order, and Multi-Color Block SSOR (Symmetric Succesive OverRelaxation). We conducted our experiments on the CRAYT3E with 128 nodes. The MPI (Message Passing Interface) library was adopted for the interprocessor communications. The test matrices are up to $512{\times}512$ in dimensions and were created from the discretizations of the elliptic PDE. All things considered the MC-BSSOR seems to be most robust preconditioner.

  • Purpose : This study was performed to evaluate the characteristics of rat mesenchymal stem cells (RMSCs) transduced with human ferritin gene and investigate $in$ $vitro$ MRI detectability of ferritin-transduced RMSCs. Materials and Methods: The RMSCs expressing both myc-tagged human ferritin heavy chain subunit (myc-FTH) and green fluorescence protein (GFP) were transduced with lentiviurs. Transduced cells were sorted by GFP expression using a fluorescence-activated cell sorter. Myc-FTH and GFP expression in transduced cells were detected by immunofluorescence staining. The cell proliferative ability and viability were assessed by MTT assay. The RMSC surface markers (CD29+/CD45-) were analyzed by flow cytometry. The intracellular iron amount was measured spectrophotometically and the presence of ferritin-iron accumulation was detected by Prussian blue staining. $In$ $vitro$ magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) study of cell phantoms was done on 9.4 T MR scanner to evaluate the feasibility of imaging the ferritin-transduced RMSCs. Results: The myc-FTH and GFP genes were stably transduced into RMSCs. No significant differences were observed in terms of biologic properties in transduced RMSCs compared with non-transduced RMSCs. Ferritin-transduced RMSCs exhibited increased iron accumulation ability and showed significantly lower $T_2$ relaxation time than non-transduced RMSCs. Conclusion: Ferritin gene as MR reporter gene could be used for non-invasive tracking and visualization of therapeutic mesenchymal stem cells by MRI.

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of the fascial distortion model (FDM) method on Cobb's angle. Methods: Fourteen subjects participated in this study. The idiopathic scoliosis group performed FDM treatments eight times in four weeks. A Shapiro-Wilks test was used to verify the normality of a group of idiopathic scoliosis patients. A paired t-test was performed to determine the satisfaction with the normality. Results: The difference in Cobb's angle was reduced significantly (p<0.05) by an average of $5.72^{\circ}{\pm}2.24$ from $15.51^{\circ}{\pm}1.81$ before the experiment. Conclusion: This study found that the use of the FDM method was effective in improving the Cobb's angle. The application of a FDM treatment appears to stabilize the fascia with decreased ability to adapt physiologically. The application of the CD and TB method of FDM treatment improved the asymmetry spine by dispersing moisture in fascia and improving the contraction and relaxation ability. The results suggest that the Cobb's angle is reduced when FDM is applied, thereby preventing the progression of curvature and avoiding psychological and physical problems that can arise from improving patients with scoliosis.
