The possibility of non-destructive inspection glass beads for verification. Conduct a comparative analysis of the Chungcheong area with glass beads excavated Age-specific characteristics of the glass beads shall be classified by region. Trace amounts of ingredients such as CaO, $Al_2O_3$ (stabilizer), MgO, the difference is negligible. $SiO_2$ (subjects), $Na_2O$ (flux) analysis and the difference between the values was greater than in the other ingredients. Composition differences occurred rough surface to a non-uniform cross-section analysis is considered. Minimize the error value, such as the surface of carbon-coated Study, there are additional requirements. Produced at the time of the social and cultural characteristics of ancient glass and important archaeological materials, and to inform the process of cultural exchange between each region in the production of glass technology era according to the level of science and technology, arts and crafts, can be identified.
To improve the strength of glass is being studied in order to contribute to weight saving of flat panel displays. Generally, the strength achieved of glass-ceramics is higher as is the fracture toughness by the formation of a heterogeneous phase inside glass. In this study, Ag-doped $45SiO_2-24CaO-24Na_2O-4P_2O_5\;and\;70SiO_2-10CaO-24Na_2O-10TiO_2$ glasses were irradiated to strengthen by crystallization using femto-second laser pulse. XRD, Nano-indenter and SEM etc., irradiation of laser pulse without heat-treated samples was analyzed. Samples irradiated by laser had higher value($4.4{\sim}4.56^*10-3Pa$) of elastic modulus which related with strength of glass than values heat-treated samples and these are $1.2{\sim}1.5$ times higher values than them of mother glass. This process can be applicable to the strengthening of thinner glass plate, and it has an advantage over traditional heat-treatment and ion-exchange method.

The difference of plasma resistance between the CAS glass bulk and coating films were compared. Plasma resistance was confirmed by analyzing the etch rate and the microstructure of the surface when the CAS glass bulk and the glass coating film were etched with CF4/O2/Ar plasma gas. CAS glass coating film was etched up to 25 times faster than the glass bulk. A statistically high correlation between the surface roughness and the etching rate of the coating film was derived, and thus, the high surface roughness of the coating film was determined to cause rapid etching. In addition, cristobalite crystals that has a low Ca content and a high Si content, was foamed on the glass coating film. Therefore, the CAS glass coating film is considered to have low plasma resistance compared to the glass bulk.
In fabricating plasma display panels, the photolithographic process is used to form patterns of barrier ribs with high accuracy and high aspect ratio. It is important in the photolithographic process to control the refractive index of the photosensitive paste. The composition of this paste for photolithography is based on the $B_2O_3-SiO_2-Al_2O_3$ glass system, including additives of alkali oxides and rare earth oxides. In this work, we investigated the density, structure and refractive index of glasses based on the $B_2O_3-SiO_2-Al_2O_3$ system with the addition of $Li_2O$, $K_2O$, $Na_2O$, CaO, SrO, and MgO. The refractive index of the glasses containing K2O, Na2O and CaO was similar to that of the [BO3] fraction while that of the SrO, MgO and Li2O containing glasses were not correlated with the coordination fraction. The coordination number of the boron atoms was measured by MAS NMR. The refractive index increased with a decrease of molar volume due to the increase in the number of non-bridging oxygen atoms and the polarizability. The lowest refractive index (1.485) in this study was that of the $B_2O_3-SiO_2-Al_2O_3-K_2O$ glass system due to the larger ionic radius of $K^+$. Based on our results, it has been determined that the refractive index of the $B_2O_3-SiO_2-Al_2O_3$ system should be controlled by the addition of alkali oxides and alkali earth oxides for proper formation of the photosensitive paste.

The effect of Al2O3 on isokom temperatures in soda-lime glass is estimated by comparing calculated isokom temperatures using viscosity model proposed by Lakatos. Substitution of SiO2 with Al2O3 by 0.5 mol% raises the isokom temperatures by 3.1, 3.3, 3.6 and 7.2℃ at the viscosity of log η = 12.3, 10, 6.6 and 1 (Pa·s), respectively. Meanwhile, replacing 0.5 mol% of CaO with Al2O3 raises the isokom temperatures by 1.6, 2.3, 4.1 and 17.7℃ at the viscosity of log η = 12.3, 10, 6.6 and 1 (Pa·s), respectively.
For the manufacture of the silver-yellow glass, silver nitrate was used as a colorant in the base glass of $K_2O$-CaO-$SiO_2$ system. The latter in which the optimum condition was revealed showing beautiful yellow color had been selected among others after the preparatory studies to choose base glass. Other base glass systems considered were $Na_2O$-CaO-$SiO_2$, $R_2O$-PbO-$SiO_2$ and $R_2O$-PbO-BaO-$SiO_2$. The color developed on the specimen in various conditions was examined, using spectorphotometer, in term of the changes in absorbance with wavelength in the visible range. Experimental variables were the amount of the colorant and the additives, reheating temperature and time. The additives such as ZnO, BaO, $B_2O_3$ and $As_2O_3$ were added to increase the coloring action. It was observed that as the amount of silver increased in the base glass the absorbance around $410{\mu}m$ showed the increasing tendency, but the width of absorption curve was wider. Hence, the optimum amount of silver appeared to be 0.11~0.12%. It was found that ZnO was effective additive when present about 0.1%, while $As_2O_3$ ineffective rather retarding the coloration. Borax and $BaCO_3$ were proved effective when contained separately, but appeared ineffective when coexisted. Proper reheating temperature and time was ranged 550~$580^{\circ}C$ and 50~60 minutes. The higher the reheating temperature and the longer the reheating time, the absorbance was increased, while the width of absorption curve was wider. The colored glass prepared in the present experimental condition was found to have good water-resistance for the decorative purpose.
Bioglasses have been known to be as one of the promising biomateials, which can be used for replacing defective hard and soft tissue. There have been many reports on biological results for this type of glass, but no systematic work has carried out on the structures and properties of the bioglass itself. In the present study, the effect of P2O5 in bioglasses on their structures and properties was examined. Infrared and Raman spectroscopy for the glass structural analysis, differential thermal and X-ray diffraction analysis for the crystallization of the bioglass were performed, and several physical properties were measured. When the glasses were heat-treated, Na2O.2CaO.3SiO2 was the major crystalline phase and $\beta$-NaCaPO4 crystal was found for the glass with high P2O5 content. The added P2O5 in the glasses enhanced the polymerization of silicate glass structure and it changed the chain-like glass structure to a sheet-like structure, and some P2O5 may stay as phosphate monomer. With addition of P2O5 in the glass the density of the glasses decreased, but not much changes in their thermal expansion coefficient, softening point and microhardness were observed.
Seven glass beads from Bupwha-ri site, Yeongdong dated Joseon dynasty were analyzed with SEM/EDS and X-ray diffraction methods. Six samples were classified to potash glass system($K_2O-CaO-SiO_2$) with HCA(High CaO and $Al_2O_3$) and high concentration of MgO suggested raw materials to plant ashes. Especially one sample from tomb no. 8 was highly different concentration of $K_2O$ and MgO with others. It was shown that they were different sources of raw materials. Mostly coloring agents of potash glasses were owing to Fe and Cu. One sample was found to lead glass system(PbO-$SiO_2$) with 12% PbO. The content of PbO was differentiated with other lead glasses since we analyzed so far. It needs more study for compositions of lead glasses with regions and ages.
The possible use of bioglass as implant materials is due to its biocompatibility to human body. Even if many animal studies for the bioglasses have been performed, their structures and physical properties are not fully understood. In the present work, several investigations such as Raman spectroscopic analysis, density, thermal expansion coefficient, softening temperature, and refractive index measurement were carried out to find the structures and physical properties of bioglasses, where MgO is substituted for CaO in bioglass composition (46.1%SiO2, 24.4%Na2O, 26.9%CaO, 2.6%P2O5 ; mole%). Hydroxyapatite formation on the glass surface reacted in Tris-buffer solution was also examined. When CaO was replaced by MgO, nonbridging oxygen in glass structuer was diminished but the degree of disorder increased. Thermal expansion and softening properties showed the mixed oxide effect. Hydroxyapatite were formed on the surface of 0~11mole% of MgO containing bioglasses, and the thickness of SiO2-rich layer as well as hydroxyapatite layer were unchanged with MgO content. However, the hydroxyapatite was not formed on the surface of the bioglasses containing over 11 mole percent MgO, even if the glasses were reacted for long period.
