In this work, the anodic oxidation of carbon fibers was carried out to enhance the mechanical interfacial properties of carbon fibers-reinforced epoxy matrix composites. The surface characteristics of the carbon fibers were studied by FTIR, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Also, the mechanical interfacial properties of the composites were studied with interlaminar shear strength (ILSS), critical stress intensity factor ($K_{IC}$), and critical strain energy release rate ($G_{IC}$). The anodic oxidation led to a significant change in the surface characteristics of the carbon fibers. The anodic oxidation of carbon fiber improved the mechanical interfacial properties, such as ILSS, $K_{IC}$, and $G_{IC}$ of the composites. The mechanical interfacial properties of the composites anodized at 20% sulfuric/nitric (3/1) were the highest values among the anodized carbon fibers. These results were attributed to the increase of the degree of adhesion at interfaces between the carbon fibers and the matrix resins in the composite systems.
We screened preventives (preventers) from natural resources to prevent the rust phenomenon in ginseng roots. We examined that how these influence on the rusty phenomenon and the growth of 2 years old ginsengs treated in the preventers. All treats which was compounding preventers & improvers were so excellent of the ginsengs growth. Especially, the growth of 2 years old ginsengs treated with bio-preventer of ICPE-C105 and ICPE-P107R were increased to 73%, 28% compared with nontreatment, respectively. Though rusty ginseng of rate was emerged 58% in control, preventers ICPE-C 105 and ICPE-P107 were emerged of each 16.7%, 20%. It was affirmed effective of preventer. On the other hands, amounts of ginsenoside treated with preventatives showed to be changed. The total ginsenoside was increased to 71% with treatment ICPE-C105R which is the highest among groups compared to control, and ICPE-P$\_$107/R was increased to 50%. To sum up with total results, it is biotic preventatives (ICPE-C$\_$105/R and ICPE-P$\_$107/R) which we created improve both a high yield of ginseng roots and the inhibition of the rusty phenomenon. phenomenon.
As demands and applications of spatial information increase, different aspects of quality management have been raised as an important issue. This study suggests a quality management method for consumer-oriented spatial information, providing the consumer satisfaction. As opposed to the demands mentioned, less attention has been paid on the quality for the spatial information. So far, most of spatial information producers have kept their own independent quality management system and standard. Because of this unconscious response, it has been difficult to reflect the consumer's various and flexible demands from the silo structure of the quality management systems and regulations. The explosive increase of spatial information products creates quality-related problems such as limited time and budget for the consumer-oriented quality management. To solve these problems this study suggests to use a minimum number of the basic spatial information products which can guarantee better qualities when other products are combined. Because each of the spatial information product can include several other sub-products inside, it can have intrinsic characteristics such as geographic accuracy relationships between the products when combined and a hierarchical structure in each product in terms of the quality management mentioned. To prove the usability of the model, a case of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Center is used because the Center collects and distributes an enormous amount of spatial information to the public and private sector.
This study was carried out to evaluate genetic variation of early-heading rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. Dongjin 1) lines derived from gamma-ray ($^{60}Co$, 300 Gy) irradiation. The average heading date of the 5 early-heading lines in $M_7$ and $M_8$ generation was faster than that of untreated control as 11 (line ${\gamma}$-2), 10 (line ${\gamma}$-5), 6 (${\gamma}$-1 line), 5 (${\gamma}$-3) and 4 days (line ${\gamma}$-4), respectively. According to ISSR analysis, polymorphic rate of the early-heading lines (from 5.9% to 23.4%) was higher than that of control (4.3%). The result indicates that the gamma-ray promote variation at DNA level. When genetic variations of rps16-trnK region were evaluated by nucleotide analysis, nucleotide length of the rps16-trnK region was 664 bp in all the early-heading lines and control. Out of 5 sites of nucleotide transposition detected in the region, however, 2 sites were appeared only in the early-heading lines.
The purpose of this study is to make a model of Family Life Cycle in Korea now. Answers to a questionnaire were collected from 724 housewives in Seoul area, 232 housewives in big cities, 203 housewives in small cities. The questionnaire contained 10 items about family situations,. Analyzing method employed for modeling to family life cycle are frequency, percentage, X2 -test . Results and findings are as follows; 1) The mean of first marriage age is 22.4yrs old. 23.5yrs old is the result of statistical materials published by E.P.B. 1975. The age of first marriage is higher according to the age, education & residential area. 2) The mean of first baby bearing age is 24.2 yrs old (generally 1 year after marriage). This age is the same as the result of statistical materials published by E.P.B. 3) the mean of last baby berating age is 32.6 yrs old compared to the E.P.B. statistical materials 3 yrs. low. This age is very different according to the age, education & residential area. 4) The mean of first child marriage age is 46.4 yrs old compared to the E.P.B. statistical materials 2.5 yrs old low. 5) the mean of last marriage age is 52.7 yrs old. this age is also 2.3 yrs low compared to the result of E.P.B. materials. 6) The number of child & interval is quite different according to the result of family planning generation of not. 7)According to the wife's employment, it does not show and difference. 8)The result of analyzing by F.L.C.,, we don't have launching stage & middle age stage apparently. So, we can make model of F.L.C. in Korea as follows (it will be change). 1) Establishment stage; from marriage to first baby born (23yrs old -24yrs old). 2) Child bearing & rearing stage; form first baby born to first child enter primary school(24 yrs old-30 yrs old). 3) Families with children's education stage; from first child primary school to high school graduation (30 yrs old-42yrs old) 4)Families with adult children stage; form first child got army college or stay at home(42 yrs- 48 yrs old). 5)Families with children's marriage stage; from first child marriage to last child marriage (48yrs old-57yrs old). 6) Aging stage; from last child marriage to self dying.
The purpose of this study was to identify the prevalence of urinary incontinence and its relating factors elderly communities. Subjects of this survey consisted of 877 elderly women and men in one Kun. Korea, who were over 60 years old. The design for this study was descriptive: the subjects were interviewed by well trained investigators from July 9. 1999 to July 20. 1999. During that survey period, the subjects were interviewed with a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, $X^2-test$. T-test using an SAS program. The results of the study were the following: 1. The prevalence rate of urinary incontinence was 20.1 %. of the total. The types of urinary incontinence were mixed incontinence 44.3%. stress incontinence 38.1%. and urge type incontinence 17.6%. 2. The relating factors of urinary incontinence were as follows: 1) 33.5% of UI(urinary incontinence) subjects reported urine loss once a month. twice or three times a week 23.3%. one or two times a day 17.0% 2) 38.1% of elderly reported only 1 to 2 drops. 1 t-spoon 36.9%. 1 T-spoon 15.9% 3) The volume of urine loss registered by changing underwear was 63.1 %. no necessity of changing underwear was 22.1 %. or using some type of pads was 13.1%. 4) 62.5% of UI subjects never discussed their UI problem with other people. 73.9% of the total had never experienced any treatment for their UI problem. The reasons for not receiving medical cure were their typical conception about urinary incontinence taking UI as a normal part of aging 76.2% and due to their bad financial situation 9.2%. 3. Women had more prevalence of UI than men (p=0.01), and it was found that the worse the subjective health state. the higher the prevalence of UI (p=0.001). However. there was no statistical difference in daily frequency of UI (p>0.05). The more nocturnal incontinence (p=0.001), the more intermittent stream experience (p = 0.01), the more retention experience (p = 0.01), and the more incomplete the emptying experience (p=0.001), the higher the prevalence of UI. 4. UI groups had lower ADL scores than non UI groups(p=0.01). The level of depression in the group of urinary incontinence was significantly higher than that of non incontinence group (p=0.0001). As shown above, the elderly people suffering from UI haven't been treated properly: their subjective health state and their ADL competence was lower, and their depression level was higher than non UI groups. Therefore, the development of a proper urinary incontinence management program are required so that they can lead more healthy lives. Also continual case studies for the elderly people with UI are necessary.
Polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) are halogenated aromatic compounds with the empirical formula $C_{12}$$H_{10-n}$C $l_{n}$(n=1~10), and are a mixture of possible 209 different chlorinated congeners. PCBs were widely used as dielectric fluids for capacitors and transformers, plasticizers, lubricant inks and paint addirives. Once released into the environment, PCBs persist for years because they are so resistant to degradation. In addition to their persistence in the environment, PCBs in ecological food chains undergo biomagnification because of their high degree of lipophilicity. In 1970s, the worldwide production of PCBs was ceased and the import of PCBs was prohibited since 1983 in Korea. In spite of these actions, many PCBs seems to be still in use. The environmental load of PCBs will continue to be recycled through air, land, water, and the biosphere for decades to come. This study was conducted to measure the concentrations of PCBs in the serum samples of 112 women by GC/MSD and GC/ECD. The main results of this study were as follows. 1. PCBs were detected in all samples. The mean $\pm$SD levels of PCBs in the serum were 3.613$\pm$0.759 ppb, and median were 3.828 ppb. 2. The correlation coefficients of the concentrations of 13 PCB congeners were from minimum, 0.7913 to maximum, 0.9985, and all was significant(p=0.0001). The correlation coefficient between the concentrations of PCBs and p,p'-DDE was 0.9641(p=0.0001). 3. There was a positive association between age and PCBs' concentrations (simple linear regression ; $R^2$=0.86, $\beta$=0.08023, p<0.001). 4. There was a positive association between total lipids in the serum and PCBs' concentrations (simple linear regression ; $R^2$=0.7058, $\beta$=0.00486, p<0.001). 5. For possible predictors of PCBs and p,p' -DDE levels in the serum, age adjusted model (Y=$\beta$$_{0}$+$\beta$$_1$age+ $B_2$X) was applied. For BMI, major residential area, wether to eat caught fish by angling, where to eat caught fish by angling(by parents in the past), fish consumption, meat consumption, meat consumption, and dairy consumption, there was no association. For total conception frequency and lactation frequency and lactation period, there was negative association.ion.

The ingot fabrication conditions related with the thermal shock bearing phase and microstructure have investigated for the rare earth zirconate ceramic material, lanthanum gadolinium zirconate, as a thermal barrier coating using electron beam evaporation method. The thermal shock resistance of the prepared ingot was evaluated by high energy electron beam irradiation. The rare earth zirconate ceramic powder was prepared by controlling the raw material powder composition of $La_2O_3$, $Gd_2O_3$ and $ZrO_2$ so as to have a composition of $(La_{0.3}Gd_{0.7})_2Zr_2O_7$ which was selected from the former study. Ingot samples were prepared under two conditions. The first condition is prepared by sintering the prepared powder mixture to form an ingot. The second condition is prepared by calcining the prepared powder mixture to form a composite phase and then sintering to form an ingot. X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) were used to analyze phase forming behavior and microstructure of ingot samples. Nanoindentation method used to obtain elastic modulus and hardness of each ingot specimen. Also the stress distribution of ingot was simulated by using FEM method assuming the ingot surface was exposed to electron beam. As a results, in the case of an ingot having a network-shaped microstructure in which relatively coarse pores are included, it seems that the thermal shock resistance was higher than in the case of an ingot having a microstructure composed of relatively fine grains only or particles with the similar level size when the high energy electron beam irradiation.
A stoichiometric mixture of evaporating materials for $BaAl_2Se_4$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal electric furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, $BaAl_2Se_4$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the Hot Wall Epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were $610^{\circ}C$ and $410^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of $BaAl_2Se_4$ single crystal thin films measured from Hall effect by van der Pauw method are $8.29{\times}10^{-16}cm^{-3}$ and $278cm^2/vs$ at 293 K, respectively. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $BaAl_2Se_4$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g(T)=3.4205eV-(4.3112{\times}10^{-4}eV/K)T^2/(T+232 K)$. The crystal field and the spin-orbit splitting energies for the valence band of the $BaAl_2Se_4$ have been estimated to be 249.4 meV and 263.4 meV, respectively, by means of the photocurrent spectra and the Hopfield quasicubic model. These results indicate that the splitting of the ${\Delta}so$ definitely exists in the ${\Gamma}_5$ states of the valence band of the $BaAl_2Se_4/GaAs$ epilayer. The three photocurrent peaks observed at 10 K are ascribed to the $A_1$-, $B_1$-exciton for n =1 and $C_{31}$-exciton peaks for n=31.
Outdoor iron artefacts are easily corroded by salts, especially $Cl^-$ion, from environmental pollutants and acid rain because of their location, so that they need conservational treatments such as stabilization. However the conservation of outdoor iron artefacts are limited to be consolidated for the present and there are a few the studies for the desalinization. The general desalinization method is that objects are immersed in reagent such as alkaline corrosion inhibiting solutions targeting on buried iron artefacts, thus they are not available for outdoor iron artefacts. In this study, concerning those difficulties, the different desalting method is experimented that materials soaked in alkaline solutions attach to objects and they are packed by waterproof to avoid evaporation. This paper experiment burial iron artefacts at first in order to fine out an adaptable method for outdoor iron artefacts. The soaking materials are Korean traditional paper, gauze, cotton wipers, spill pads and the desalting regent is NaOH 0.1M. Additionally the exiting desalinization method which is to immerse objects in solution is performed to compare. The analyses are microscopes, SEM-EDS, X-ray diffraction, pH meter and Ion chromatography. The result is that spill pads show the best desalting effect out of other materials similar to immersing desalting method.
