Ru/RuO2전극에 성장한 PZT 박막의 특성에 관한 연구 (Properties of PZI Thin film on the Ru/RuO2 Electrode)

  • The structural and electrical properties of PZT (lead zirconate titante) thin films grown on Pt (platinum) and Ru/Ru $O_2$(ruthenium/ruthenium oxide) electrodes were investigated. Thin films of PZT were deposited on a variety of electrodes using the rf-magnetron sputtering process. PZT films exhibited polycrystalline structure with strong PZT (100) plane and weak (211) plane for an optimizied Pt electrode and (100), (101), (111), (200), (210), (211) planes for Ru/Ru $O_2$. Switching polarization versus fatigue characteristic of Pt/Ti electrodes showed 20% degradation up to 1 $\times$ 10$_{9}$ cycles. No significant fatigue was observed in the films on Ru/Ru $O_2$ electrodes up to Ix109 test cycles. The results show that the new Ru/Ru $O_2$ bottom electrodes are expected to reduce the degradation of ferroelectric fatigue.

  • Electrical double-layer capacitor (EDLC) is an electrochemical energy storage device in which electric charges only accumulated by a pure electrostatic attraction force are stored on the electrolyte-electrode interface in a form of double layer and separated by the electrolyte. The composite was prepared by mixing nanosize $TiO_2$ and activated carbon through a means of ultrasonic vibration in ethanol solution for 30 min in various mass ratios of $AC:TiO_2$ to form activated carbone-semiconducting oxide composites. Either 1.0 M $LiClO_4/EC-DEC$ or $Et_4NBF_4$/EC-DEC was used as the electrolyte. It was found that with modification of $TiO_2$, the specific capacitance of activated carbon measured at $1mA/cm^2$ was increased from 40 to 50 F/g. This method is unique in comparison the conventional method because it uses semiconducting TiO2 other than electrochemically active materials such as $RuO_2$. The increase in specific capacitance could be attributed to the decrease in electric polarization, caused by the introduction of $RuO_2$.

  • $TiO_2$ is widely being used as a semiconductor electrode for DSSC. Anti-recombination property and surface area of $TiO_2$ give an important influence to the DSSC efficiency. In this study, $TiO_2$ electrode was fabricated on FTO using screen printing method. Various overlayers were coated on them by dip coating in solution of saturated $Ba(NO_3)_2$, $Mg(NO_3)_2$ and $N_{2}O_{6}Sr$. They reduced the recombination of electrons from photo excited state of Ru dye. The atmospheric plasma treatment was applied to both the $TiO_2$ and each overlayer coated $TiO_2$ surfaces to improve contact ability with dye. We prepared four samples, one sample has bare $TiO_2$ surfaces to improve contact ability with dye. We prepared four samples, one sample has bare $TiO_2$ electrode and the other samples consist of each overlayer coated $TiO_2$ electrodes. We used XRD, FE-SEM, J-V, IPCE and EIS in order to investigate characteristic.

  • $RuO_2$를 하부전극으로 적용한 (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$[BST] 박막의 Sputtering 가스내 $O_2/Ar$ 비에 따른 특성을 고찰하였다. $O_2/Ar$ 비가 1/9에서 5/5로 증가함에 따라 BST 박막의 유전상수는 135에서 190로 증가한 반면, 누설전류 특성은 $1.9{\times}10^{-7}\; A/{\textrm}{cm}^2$에서 $1.7{\times}10^{-6}; A/{\textrm}{cm}^2$로 저하되었다. $O_2/Ar$ 비 증가에 따른 BST 박막의 결정성의 향상에도 불구하고 BST 박막의 표면거칠기의 증가와 BST/ $RuO_2$계면에서의 산소결핍 지역의 확장 등이 BST 박막의 누설전류 특성의 저하를 초래하였다.

전기적 염소 발생 촉매활성을 위한 성형된 루테늄 산화물 나노로드와 나노시트 전극의 개발 (Development of templated RuO2 nanorod and nanosheet electrodes to improve the electrocatalytic activities for chlorine evolution)

  • $RuO_2$ is a common active component of Dimensionally Stable Anodes (DSAs) for chlorine evolution that can be used in wastewater treatment systems. The recent improvement of chlorine evolution using nanostructures of $RuO_2$ electrodes to increase the treatment efficiency and reduce the energy consumption of this process has received much attention. In this study, $RuO_2$ nanorod and nanosheet electrodes were simply fabricated using the sol-gel method with organic surfactants as the templates. The obtained $RuO_2$ nanorod and nanosheet electrodes exhibit enhanced electrocatalytic activities for chlorine evolution possibly due to the active surface areas, especially the outer active surface areas, which are attributed to the increase in mass transfers compared with a conventional nanograin electrode. The electrocatalytic activities for chlorine evolution were increased up to 20 % in the case of the nanorod electrode and 35% in the case of the nanosheet electrode compared with the nanograin electrode. The $RuO_2$ nanorod 80 nm in length and 20-30 nm in width and the $RuO_2$ nanosheet 40-60 nm in length and 40 nm in width are formed on the surface of Ti substrates. These results support that the templated $RuO_2$ nanorod and nanosheet electrodes are promising anode materials for chlorine evolution in future applications.

열산화법으로 생성된 TiO2 중간보호층이 Ti/RuO2-PdO-TiO2전극의 염소발생 효율 및 내구성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Thermally Grown TiO2 Interlayer on Chlorine Evolution Efficiency and Durability of Ti/RuO2-PdO-TiO2 Electrodes)

  • Not only efficiency of chlorine evolution reaction (CER) but also durability namely service life is very important property in dimensional stable anode for Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) for marine ships. Many researchers have been focused on improving efficiency of CER by controlling composition, phase and surface area for a long time, but the efforts to increase durability was relatively small. In this study, we have investigated the effect of $TiO_2$ protective interlayers on efficiency and durability of DSA electrodes. $TiO_2$ protective interlayers were prepared by thermal oxidation at 500, 600 and $700^{\circ}C$ on Ti substrate. And then the DSA electrodes consisting of $Ti/RuO_2-PdO-TiO_2$ were prepared by thermal decomposition method on $TiO_2$ interlayers. The efficiencies of CER of DSA electrodes without $TiO_2$ interlayer and with $TiO_2$ interlayer grown at 500, 600 and $700^{\circ}C$ were 94.19, 94.45, 84.60 and 76.75% respectively. On the otherhand, durabilities were 30, 55, 90 and 65 hours respectively. In terms of industrial aspect, the performance of DSA is considered high efficiency and durability which can correspond to total production of chlorine. If we considered the performance index of DSA as the product of efficiency and durability, performance indices could be recalculated as 28.26, 50.85, 76.14 and 49.89 respectively. As the thermal oxidation temperature increasing, life time were increased remarkerbly, while efficiency of CER was decreased slightly. As a result, DSA electrode with $TiO_2$ interlayer grown at $600^{\circ}C$ has shown about 2.7 times performace of original DSA electrode without $TiO_2$ interlayer.

냉각탑수 수질이 Ru/Ti 전극을 이용한 Legionella pneumophila 소독에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Water Quality of Cooling Tower on Legionella pneumophila Disinfection Using Ru/Ti Electrode)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of water quality of cooling tower on Legionella pneumophila disinfection using Ru/Ti electrode. The influences of parameters such as pH, turbidity, $CaCO_3$ and TOC were investigated using laboratory scale batch reactor. Oxidants such as free Cl, $ClO_2,\;H_2O_2\;and\;O_3$ were measured. The results showed that all of the water quality parameters of cooling tower had deteriorated disinfection of Legionella pneumophila. When the turbidity, $CaCO_3$ and TOC was increased, oxidants which was generated during electrolysis was decreased. pH, free Cl, $ClO_2\;and\;H_2O_2$ concentration were decreased with the increase of pH, whereas $O_3$ concentration was increased with the increase of pH. The order of effect of water quality on the disinfection performance for Legionella pneumophila was turbidity > $CaCO_3$ > TOC > pH. To obtain the safety standard (1000 CFU/L), the simultaneous increase current and NaCl dosage was needed.

루테늄 전극위에 증착된 PZT 박막의 전기적 및 강유전 특성 (The Electric and Ferroelectric of Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 Thin Films Deposited on Ruthenium Electrodes)

  • $Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3(PZT)$ thin films deposited on $Ru/RuO_2$ bottom electrode that grown for in-situ progress used rf magnetron sputtering method. We investigated the dependence of the crystalline and electrical properties in the way of capacitors PZT thin films. Our results show that all PZT films indicated polycrystalline perovskite structure with preferred orientation (110) and no pyrochlore phase is observed. The electric properties of the Ru improved with increasing Ru thin films thickness. A well-fabricated Ru/PZT/Ru (100 nm) /$RuO_2$ capacitor showed a leakage current density in the order of $2.03{\times}10^{-7}$ $A/cm^2$ as a 50 kV/cm, a remnant polarization (Pr) of 9.22 ${\mu}C/cm^2$, and a coercive field (-EC) of -32.22 kV/cm. The results show that $Ru/Ru/RuO_2$ bottom electrodes are expected to reduce the degradation ferroelectric fatigue and excellent ferroelectric properties.

Electrical Properties of (Ba, Sr)TiO$_3$ Thin Film Deposited on RuO$_2$Electrode

  • The variation of electrical properties of (Ba, Sr)TiO$_3$[BST] thin films deposited of RuO$_2$electrode with (Ba+Sr)/Tr ration was investigated. BST thin films with various (Ba+Sr)/Tr ration were deposited on RuO$_2$/Si substrates using in-situ RF magnetron sputtering. It was found that the electrical properties of BST films depends on the composition in the film. The dielectric constant of the BST films is about 190 at the (Ba+Sr)/Tr ration of 1.0, 1,025 and does not change markedly. But , the dielectric constant degraded to 145 as the (Ba+Sr)/Tr ratio increase to 1.0. In particular, the leakage current mechanism of the films shows the strong dependence on the (Ba+Sr)/Tr ration in the films. At the ration (Ba+Sr)/Tr=1,025, the Al/BST/RuO$_2$ capacitor show the most asymmetric behavior in the leakage current density, vs, electric field plot. It is considered that the leakage current of the (Ba+Sr)/Tr=1,025 thin films is controlled by the battier-Iimited process, i,e, Schottky emission.

$SrTiO_3/RuO_2$ 박막 형성시 플라즈마 가스 주입비의 영향 (The effects of oxygen partial pressure on $SrTiO_3$ films with $RuO_2$ bottom electrode)

  • $RuO_2$를 하부 전극으로 적용하여 스퍼터링 가스의 주입비($Ar/O_2$ratio) 변화에 따른 $SrTiO_3$ 박막의 물성을 고찰하였다. 플라스마 가스내 $Ar/O_2$비 변화가 결정성, 표면 morphology등의 $SrTiO_3$ 박막의 미세구조에 큰 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 플라스마 가스내의 산소량이 증가함에 따라 박막의 표면 morpholgy 및 상형성의 향상을 통하여 $SrTiO_3$박막의 전기적 특성을 개선할 수 있음을 관찰하였다. 산소의 양이 증가할수록 ST 박막의 누설전류는 $2.0{\times}10^{-6}A/{\textrm}{cm}^2(Ar/O_2=10/0)$에서 $3.8{\times}10^{-7}A/{\textrm}cm^2(Ar/O_2=5/5)$로 감소하였고, 유전 상수값은 $70(Ar/O_2=10/0)$에서 $190(Ar/O_2=5/5)$으로 증가하였다.
