Crystal Structures of the Two Isomorphous A-DNA Decamers d(GTACGCGTAC) and d(GGCCGCGGCC)

  • To study the effect of sequence on DNA structure, the two decamer crystal structures one alternating,d(GTACGCGTAC), and the other non-alternating, d(GGCCGCGGCC), were solved. Crystals of both decamers belong to the hexagonal space group $P6_122$, with one strand in the asymmetric unit. The unit cell constants of the alternating decamer are a = b = 39.26 $\AA$, c = 77.70 $\AA$. The structure was refined with 1,828 reflections from 8.0 to 2.0 Aresolution to an R value of 21.3% with all DNA atoms and 63 water molecules. The isomorphous non-alternating decamer had unit cell dimensions of a = b = 39.05 $\AA$, c = 82.15 $\AA$. The structure was refined with 2,423 reflections from 8.0 to 2.0 $\AA$ resolution to a final R value of 22.2% for all DNA atoms and 65 water molecules. Although the average helical parameters of the decamers are typical of A-DNAs, there are some minor differences between them. The helical twist, rise, x-displacement, inclination and roll alternate in the alternating decamer, but do not in the non-alternating decamer. The backbone conformations in both structures show some differences; the residue G(7) of the alternating decamer is trans for $\alpha$ and $\gamma$ while the trans conformations are observed at the residue G(8) of the non-alternating decamer.

  • 칼라 코렐로그램은 계산량이 많아지고 저장 공간이 커져서 검색하는 시간이 길어지므로 일반적으로 64*64 로 양자화 하여 사용되어지는데, 본 논문에서는 메디안 픽셀 특징에 공간정보를 이용하여 9*9 로 양자화 하였다. 기존 알고리즘의 경우 메디안 값이 중복되는 경우 중복된 값들을 정렬하여 그 중 가운데 값을 특징자 값으로 정하였으나, 제안된 알고리즘에서는 중복된 값들을 정렬하여 그 중 공간정보가 가장 작은 값을 특징자 값으로 정하였다. 그리고 코렐로그램을 적용하여 특징자 테이블을 구성하고 이를 이용하여 비교하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 시뮬레이션을 통해 테스트 하였고 그 결과 기존 알고리즘 보다 더 나은 검색성능을 나타내게 되었다.

사이버 방어를 위한 적응형 다중계층 보호체제 (Adaptive Multi-Layer Security Approach for Cyber Defense)

  • 사이버 공간에서 첨예화, 복잡화되고 있는 공격을 일대일 방식으로 방어하는데 한계가 있으므로 보다 효과적인 방어 방법이 필요하다. 본 고에서는 내외부의 공격에 대해 자산을 체계적 적응적으로 방어할 수 있는 다중계층 보안체제 구축 방안을 제시한다. 방어지역(Defense Zone)을 중심으로 한 다중계층 보안체제의 구조를 고안하고, 사이버 위협분석과 방어기술 자동할당 등 구현에 필요한 기술요소들에 대해 논의한다. 또한, 다중계층 보안체제에 대한 효과와 적용성을 보인다. 향후, 제시된 방안의 구체화를 위해 방어지역에 대한 상세구조설계, 최적 방어기술 자동선택방법, 위협 탐지를 위한 정상상태 모델링 기술 등에 대한 연구가 필요하다.

Assessing the anion type effect on the hydro-mechanical properties of smectite from macro and micro-structure aspects

  • The expansivity of clayey soils is a complicated phenomenon which may affect the stability of geotechnical structures and geo-environmental projects. In all common factors for the monitoring of soil expansion, less attention is given to anion type of pore space solutions. Therefore, this paper is concerned with the impact of various concentrations of different inorganic salts including NaCl, $Na_2SO_4$, and $Na_2CO_3$ on the macro and microstructure behavior of the expandable smectite clay. Comparison of the responses of the smectite/NaCl and smectite/$Na_2SO_4$ mixtures indicates that the effect of anion valance on the soil engineering properties is not very pronounced, regardless of the electrolyte concentration. However, at presence of carbonate as potential determining ions (PDIs) the swelling power increases up to 1.5 times compared to sulfate or chloride ions. The samples with $Na_2CO_3$ are also more deformable and show lower osmotic compressibility than the other mixtures. This demonstrates that the barrier performance of smectite greatly decreases in case of anions with the non-specific adsorption (e.g., $Cl^-$ and $SO{_4}^{2-}$) as the salinity of solution increases. Based on the results of the X-ray diffraction and sedimentation tests, the high soil volumetric changes upon exposure to carbonate is attributed to an increase in the repulsive forces between smectite basic unit layers due to the PDI effect of $CO{_3}^{2-}$ and increasing the pH level which enhance the buffering capacity of smectite. The study concluded that the nature of anion through its influence on the re-arrangement of soil microstructure and osmotic phenomena governs the hydro-mechanical parameters of expansive clays. It seems not coinciding with the double layer theory of the Gouy-Chapman double layer model.

Multivariate Congestion Prediction using Stacked LSTM Autoencoder based Bidirectional LSTM Model

  • In intelligent transportation systems, traffic management is an important task. The accurate forecasting of traffic characteristics like flow, congestion, and density is still active research because of the non-linear nature and uncertainty of the spatiotemporal data. Inclement weather, such as rain and snow, and other special events such as holidays, accidents, and road closures have a significant impact on driving and the average speed of vehicles on the road, which lowers traffic capacity and causes congestion in a widespread manner. This work designs a model for multivariate short-term traffic congestion prediction using SLSTM_AE-BiLSTM. The proposed design consists of a Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory(BiLSTM) network to predict traffic flow value and a Convolutional Neural network (CNN) model for detecting the congestion status. This model uses spatial static temporal dynamic data. The stacked Long Short Term Memory Autoencoder (SLSTM AE) is used to encode the weather features into a reduced and more informative feature space. BiLSTM model is used to capture the features from the past and present traffic data simultaneously and also to identify the long-term dependencies. It uses the traffic data and encoded weather data to perform the traffic flow prediction. The CNN model is used to predict the recurring congestion status based on the predicted traffic flow value at a particular urban traffic network. In this work, a publicly available Caltrans PEMS dataset with traffic parameters is used. The proposed model generates the congestion prediction with an accuracy rate of 92.74% which is slightly better when compared with other deep learning models for congestion prediction.

  • The container package type sealed water electrolysis production system installs mechanical balance of plant and electrical balance of plant as an integrated unit to enable independent operation within the package module. The auxiliary equipment required to operate the water electrolysis system must be integrated to reduce the installation area and shorten the installation time. At this time, as leak risk factors are placed in a dense space, when a hydrogen gas leak accident occurs, it can have a mutual influence on other adjacent facilities, so it contains various risk factors. In this study, when a gas leak occurs in a container packaged water electrolysis system, possible sources of leakage in the system according to the KS C IEC 60079-10-1:2015 and KGS GC101 standards were identified, and the leak rate and leak characteristics were calculated. did. The hazardous area and its range were calculated according to ventilation and dilution characteristics. In order to optimize ventilation characteristics, design of experiment was used to analyze the influence to evaluate the adequacy of ventilation, and overseas ventilation standards were analyzed and compared. In addition, the optimal ventilation structure and characteristics of the container packaged water electrolysis system were presented according to the results of the experimental design method.

Synthesis and Characterization of the Large Single Crystal of Fully K+-exchanged Zeolite X (FAU), |K80|[Si112Al80O384]-FAU (Si/Al=1.41)

  • Large colorless single crystals of sodium zeolite X, stoichiometry |Na80 |[Si112Al80O384]-FAU, with diameters up to 200 μm and Si/Al = 1.41 have been synthesized from gels with the composition of 2.40SiO2 : 2.00NaAlO2 : 7.52NaOH : 454H2O : 5.00TEA. One of these, a colorless octahedron about 200 μm in cross-section has been treated with aqueous 0.1 M KNO3 for the preparation of K+-exchanged zeolite X. The crystal structure of |K80|[Si112Al80O384]-FAU per unit cell, a = 24.838(4) A, dehydrated at 673 K and 1 × 10-6 Torr, has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques in the cubic space group Fd at 294 K. The structure was refined using all intensities to the final error indices (using only the 707 reflections for which Fo > 4σ (Fo)) R1 = 0.075 (based on F) and R2 = 0.236 (based on F2). About 80 K+ ions per unit cell are found at an unusually large number of crystallographically distinct positions, eight. Eleven K+ ions are at the centers of double 6-rings (D6Rs, site I; K-O = 2.492(6) A and O-K-O (octahedral) = 88.45(22)o and 91.55(22)o). Site-I' position (in the sodalite cavities opposite D6Rs) is occupied by five K+ ions per unit cell; these K+ ions are recessed 1.92 A into the sodalite cavities from their 3-oxygen planes (K-O = 2.820(19) A, and O-K-O = 78.6(6)o). Twety-three K+ ions are found at three nonequivalent site II (in the supercage) with occupancies of 5, 9, and 9 ions; these K+ ions are recessed 0.43 A, 0.75 A, and 1.55 A, respectively, into the supercage from the three oxygens to which it is bound (K-O = 2.36(13) A, 2.45(13) A, and 2.710(13) A, O-K-O = 116.5(20)o, 110.1(17)o, and 90.4(6)o, respectively). The remaining sixteen, thirteen, and twelve K+ ions occupy three sites III' near triple 4-rings in the supercage (K-O = 2.64(3) A, 2.94(3) A, 2.73(5) A, 2.96(6) A, 3.06(4) A, and 3.08(3) A).

리튬 이차전지의 양극 활물질 LiNi1-xMgxO2 (0≤x≤0.1)의 결정구조 및 전기화학적 특성 (Crystal Structures and Electrochemical Properties of LiNi1-xMgxO2 (0≤x≤0.1) for Cathode Materials of Secondary Lithium Batteries)

  • $LiNi_{1-x}Mg_xO_2$(x=0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1) samples were synthesized by the solid-state reaction method. The crystal structure was analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction and Rietveld refinement. $LiNi_{1-x}Mg_xO_2$samples give single phases of hexagonal layered structures with a space group of R-3m. The calculated cation-anion distances and angles from the Rietveld refinement were changed with Mg contents in $LiNi_{1-x}Mg_xO_2$. The thicknesses of $NiO_2$ slabs were increased and the distances between the $NiO_2$ slabs were decreased with the increase in Mg contents in the samples. The electrical conductivities of sintered $LiNi_{1-x}Mg_xO_2$ samples were around $10^{-2}$ S/cm at room temperature. The electrochemical performances of $LiNi_{1-x}Mg_xO_2$were evaluated by coin cell test. Compared to $LiNiO_2$, $LiNi_{0.95}Mg_{0.05}O_2$ exhibited improved high-rate capability and cyclability due to the well-ordered layered structure by doping of Mg ion.

$>(Na, Ca)(Al, Si)_4O_8$의 불안정상의 결정구조 정산 (Refinement of the crystal structure of $>(Na, Ca)(Al, Si)_4O_8$)

  • Albite-anorthite 계의 조성을 갖는 유리를 결정화 시키면 사장석의 공융상 외에도 육방정과 사방정의 두불안정상이 정출되며 이들의 결정화도를 X-선 회절에 의하여 측정하였다. 사방정의 불안 정상은 albite 70∼80%를 갖는 조성에서 가장 많이 결정화가 일어나며 육방정은 anorthite가 주로된 조성영역에서 결정화가 많이 일어났다. 불안정상 중에서 사방정의 걱정구조를 정산하기 위하여 Nao7 Cao.3 Al13 Si27 O7의 조성을 갖는 단결정편을 분리하여 X-선 회절강도를 측정하였다. 이 결정의 격자상수는 a=8.237(1)A. b=8.644(1)A c=4.818(1)A이며 공간군은 P22,2,이다. 최종정산한 구조의 R값은 0.040이었고 Rw는 0.028이었다. 한위치를 7 3의 비율로 통계적으로 차지하고 있는 Na와 Ca의 위치는 충진율 0.5를 가지며 두 위치로 분열되어 있다. Si가 A1원자는 육환구조내에서는 통계적으로 분포되어 있고 육환층과 층사이에서는 규칙적인 배열을 보이고 있다.

Sentinel-1A/B SAR 센서 기반 고해상도 토양수분 산정 (Estimation of High-Resolution Soil Moisture based on Sentinel-1A/B SAR Sensors)

  • In this study, we estimated the spatially-distributed soil moisture at the high resolution ($10m{\times}10m$) using the satellite-based Sentinel-1A/B SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) sensor images. The Sentinel-1A/B raw data were pre-processed using the SNAP (Sentinel Application Platform) tool provided from ESA (European Space Agency), and then the pre-processed data were converted to the backscatter coefficients. The regression equations were derived based on the relationships between the TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry)-based soil moisture measurements and the converted backscatter coefficients. The TDR measurements from the 51 RDA (Rural Development Administration) monitoring sites were used to derive the regression equations. Then, the soil moisture values were estimated using the derived regression equations with the input data of Sentinel-1A/B based backscatter coefficients. Overall, the soil moisture estimates showed the linear trends compared to the TDR measurements with the high Pearson's correlations (more than 0.7). The Sentinel-1A/B based soil moisture values matched well with the TDR measurements with various land surface conditions (bare soil, crop, forest, and urban), especially for bare soil (R: 0.885~0.910 and RMSE: 3.162~4.609). However, the Mandae-ri (forest) and Taean-eup (urban) sites showed the negative correlations with the TDR measurements. These uncertainties might be due to limitations of soil surface penetration depths of SAR sensors and complicated land surface conditions (artificial constructions near the TDR site) at urban regions. These results may infer that qualities of Sentinel-1A/B based soil moisture products are dependent on land surface conditions. Although uncertainties exist, the Sentinel-1A/B based high-resolution soil moisture products could be useful in various areas (hydrology, agriculture, drought, flood, wild fire, etc.).
