Piezoeletric properties of Pb(Fe$_{1/2}Sb_{1/2})$O$_3$+ Pb(Zr$_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})o_3$system ceramics (Pb(Fe$_{1/2}Sb_{1/2})$O$_3$+ Pb(Zr$_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})o_3$ 계 세라믹스의 압전 특성)

  • In this paper, the structure, dieletric and piezoelectric properties of Pb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$/Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}}$$O_3$+ Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$system ceramics were investigated and the effects of donor Nb$^{+5}$ on these properties were characterized for the application of the actuator. In xPb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}}$)O$_3$+ (1-x) Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$system ceramics, tetragonality decreased as x and Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ wt% were increased. In 0.05Pb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}$}$)O$_3$+ 0.95 Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$system, grain size was smallest but showed best dielectric and piezoelectric properties. The specimen sintered at 120$0^{\circ}C$ in 0.05pb(Fe$_{\frac{1}{2}}$Sb$_{\frac{1}{2}}$ )O$_3$+ 0.95 Pb(Zr$_{0.52}$ Ti$_{0.48}$ )O$_3$+ Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ 0.6wt% exihibited best piezoeletric properties such as $K^{p}$ =64%, d$_{33}$ =490 [$\times$10$^{-12}$ C/N] and strain was 1320[$\times$10$^{-6}$ Δ$\ell$/$\ell$]at AC 6kV/cm

  • The effect of Mn(II) concentration on the anodic reactions occurring on a Pb-Ag electrode in sulfuric acid solutions has been studied by potentiostatic oxidation in the potential range of 1.8 to 2.0 V. High oxidation potentials and low initial concentrations of Mn(II) resulted in higher concentrations of soluble Mn(III) ions which were obtained from spectrophotometric analysis of the solution after oxidation. $MnO_2$ was deposited on the electrode by electrochemical oxidation of Mn(II) at 1.8 and 1.9 V, while it was formed by disproportionation of Mn(III) at 2.0 V. No $PbO_2$ was formed in the presence of Mn(II) during potentiostatic oxidation treatment for two hours at 1.8 V. Chemical reduction of $PbO_2$ with Mn(II) led to a decrease in the amount of $PbO_2$ as Mn(II) concentration increased at 1.9 and 2.0 V.

A Study on the Dielectric and Piezoelectric properties of the Pb(SbS11/2TSnS11/2T)OS13T-PbTiOS13T-PbZrOS13T Ceramics (Pb(Sb1/2Sn1/2)O3-PbTiO3-PbZrO3 세라믹스의 유전 및 압전 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, 0.10Pb(SbS11/2TSnS11/2T)OS13T-(0.90-x)PbZrOS13T (0.25 x 0.40) ceramics were fabricated by the atmospheric method. The sintering temperature and time were 1250[$^{\circ}C$] and 2[2hr], respectively. The structureal, dielectric and piezoelectric properties with composition of PbTiOS13T were studied. As the results of XRD ans SEM, the crystal structure of a specimen was rhombohedral, lattice constant and average grain size were decreased with increasing the contents of PbTiOS13T. Relative dielectric constant and Curie temperature were increased with increasing the contents of PbTiOS13T, 0.10PSS-0.40PT-0.50PZ specimen had the highest values of 904 and 265[$^{\circ}C$], respectively. In increasing of PbTiOS13T contents form 25[mol%] to 40[mol%], piezoelectric charge constant and electromechanical coupling factors were increased form 114[pC/N] to 142[pC/N], 17[%] to 24[%] and mechanical quality factor were decreased with increasing the contents of PbTiOS13T. In the 0.10PSS-0.40PT-0.50PZ specimens, those values were 14.2[kV/cm] and 9.43[x10S0-6TC/cmS02T], resectively.

A Study of the Microstructure and Impurity Characteristics of Cast Bronze in Koryo Period (고려시대의 청동 주물에서 관찰되는 불순물(Cu2S) 특성 연구)

  • The aim of this study was to obtain information on the ancient material of cast bronze through an investigation of the microstructure and impurity characteristics of the casting. Three Koryo bronze coins were analyzed using an optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, and electron dispersive X-ray analyses were used to determine the composition of the specimens. The three coins had 4 phases: ${\alpha}phase$, ${\delta}phase$, Pb, and impurities ($Cu_2S$). $Cu_2S$ was found to exist near Pb or in ${\delta}phase$. $Cu_2S$ is the inter mediate product of copper ore refining. Therefore, the copper ore was not completely refined. To find out the characteristic of $Cu_2S$, we melt 1)Koryo bronze coin and 2)$Cu_2S$ and Pb powder at 1273 K. The reaction between $Cu_2S$ and Pb at 1273 K yielded fine Cu and black gas, which was identified to be PbS and is presented below: $Cu_2S+Pb{\rightarrow}PbS{\uparrow}+2Cu$.

  • In this paper, the microwave dielectric properties of the yPb($Fe_{2/3}W_{1/3}$)$O_{3}$ - (1-y)($Pb_{x}Ca_{1-x}$)$ZrO_{3}$ system were investigated. It was found that an addition of Pb($Fe_{2/3}W_{1/3}$)$O_{3}$ promotes the grain growth, the solid solution between the Pb-based perovskite and the Ca-based perovskite and the decreasing of the sintering temperature. Especially, we found that 0.05Pb($Fe_{2/3}W_{1/3}$)$O_{3}$-0.95($Pb_{x}Ca_{1-x}$)$ZrO_{3}$ ceramic has not only lower sintering temperature but also better dielectric properties than those of the (Pb, Ca)$ZrO_{3}$ systems.

  • The possiblity of the existence of a spontaneous relaxor-normal ferroelectric transition was proposed and examined using 1~5 mol% PbZrO3-doped Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3 (PNN-PT) systems having tetragonal symmetry at rom temperature. On cooling, the system with 60mol% Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3 underwent a spontaneous transition from a relaxor to a normal ferroelectric state. A microscopic examination demonstrates that the relaxornormal ferroelectric transition corresponds to a micro-macro domain switching accompanied with thermoelastic martensitic transformation. The long-range macrodomains below the transition temperature were characterized by twinlike 90$^{\circ}$macrodomains with tetragonal symmetry. The relaxor-normal ferroelectric transition was further correlated with the rhombohedral-tetragonal first-order structural transition.

  • Pyroelectric properties and relaxation phenomena in Pb(Mg /sub 1/3/Nb/sub 2/3/)O₃-PbTiO₃ solid solution system were studied to establish the phase relation of the solid solution system. The dielectric constants and the pyroelectric coefficients of (1-x)PMN-xPT (x = 0.1∼0.4) system were investigated in the phase transition temperature range of -40°C∼200°C. The freezing temperature was calculated by fitting the experimental data with the Vogel-Fulcher relation. With all the experimental data, a modified phase diagram of the (1-x)PMN-xPT system was suggested.

  • The PZT based piezoelectric thick films prepared by screen printing method have been mainly used as a functional material for MEMS applications due to their compatibility of MEMS process. However the screen printed thick films generally reveal poor electrical and mechanical properties because of their porous microstructure. To improve microstructure we mixed attrition milled powder with ball milled powder of 0.01Pb$(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})O_3$-0.41Pb$(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$-$0.35PbTiO_3$-$0.23PbZrO_3$+0.1 wt% ${Y_2}{O_3}$+1.5 wt% ZnO composition. By mixing 25 % of attrition milled powder and 75 % of ball milled powder, the broadest particle size distribution was obtained, leading to a dense thick film with crack-free microstructure and improved dielectric properties. The X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the film was in wellcrystallized perovskite phase. The remanent polarization was increased from $13.7{\mu}C/cm^2$ to $23.3{\mu}C/cm^2$ at the addition of 25 % attrition milled powder.

Effects of KP, QM on Filter Characteristics of Pb(Mg1/3N2/3)O3-PbTiO3-PbZrO3 Ceramics (압전세라믹의 필터 특성에 미치는 Kp2QM의 영향 Pb(Mg1/3N2/3)O3-PbTiO3-PbZrO3)

  • The system of 0.1Pb(Mg1/3N2/3)O3-yPbTiO3-zPbZrO3 piezoelectric ceramics was made in the radial model disk and ring dot type filter. The resonant frequency(fr) variations were investigated for 100 hours and the temperature range from 20$^{\circ}C$ to 100$^{\circ}C$. As the results, the morphotropic phase boundary was supposed to be the composition of 45 y 50 and 40 z 45. The best characteristic of againg effect, after 10-hours, was composed of y, z=45. The stabilized characteristic of temperature varition, to become 0.1% up to 100$^{\circ}C$, was composed of y=50 and z=40. The bandwidth was broadened with increasing the electromechanical coefficient(kp), and the filter characteristics was approached ideal mode with increasing mechanical quality factor(Qm). Kp and Qm affected combinationally on filter characteristics.
