  • 손상된 터어빈 로터강의 보수 용접에 있어서 용접부의 크립 파단 수명과 탄화물간의 관계가 연구되었다. 탄화물은 탄화물 추출 복제법을 이용하여 확인되었으며 로터강에는 Molybdenum 주성분의$M_2C$, Vanadium 주성분의 $M_4C_3$, 및 Chromium 주성분의 $M_{23}C_6$$M_7C_3$ 탄화물이 존재하였다. 한편 ICHAZ에서 파단된 시험편의 파단면에서는 구상의 조대한 Molybdenum 주성분의 $M_6C$ 탄화물이 발견되었다. 조대한 Molybdenum 주성분의 $M_6C$ 탄화물의 석출은 탄화물 주위에 고용경화 원소인 Molybdenum 농도를 떨어뜨려 기공 발생 원인을 제공하였다. CGHAZ에서 파단된 용접부의 파단면에서는 조대한 $M_6C$$M_{23}C_6$가 발견되었다.

Carbide change of Inconel 617 by Cold Rolling and High Temperature Oxidation

  • 니켈기 초내열합금 Inconel 617은 Cr, Mo 등의 첨가물이 함유된 고용 강화된 합금으로써, 우수한 고온 강도, 크립 저항성, 내부식성 및 내산화성을 가지고 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 또한 Inconel 617의 주된 carbide은 $M_{23}C_6$와 미량의 $M_6C$ carbide로 형성되어있다. 본 연구에서는 냉간 압연 및 고온열화가 carbide의 크기, 분율 그리고 상 변화에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 냉간 압연은 50%까지 수행하였으며, 50% 냉간 압연한 시편을 $1050^{\circ}C$에서 1시간 동안 재결정을 수행하였다. 이로 인해 미세한 결정립과 carbide을 가지는 시편을 확보할 수 있었으며, as-received 시편 보다 균일하게 carbide을 분산 시킬 수 있었다. 또한 재결정 후 $950^{\circ}C$에서 고온열화에 의한 carbide의 변화를 평가함으로써, 냉간 압연 및 고온열화에 의한 carbide의 크기, 분율 그리고 상 변화에 미치는 영향을 평가할 수 있었다. Carbide의 분율을 평가하기 위하여 BSE image을 관찰하였으며, Image analyzer을 이용하여 계산되었다. 그리고 carbide의 성분 분석을 통한 $M_{23}C_6$$M_6C$의 상을 평가하기 위하여 EPMA 분석을 수행하였으며, carbide의 분산에 의한 균질도를 평가하기 위하여 비커스 경도를 측정하였다.

Cr-Mo-V-Ti 저합금강에서 노멀라이징 열처리조건에 따른 석출물의 거동 (Carbide Precipitation Behavior During Normalizing Heat Treatment in Low-alloyed Cr-Mo-V-Ti Steel)

  • Heat treatment condition for dissolution of the M23C6 carbides in 2.25Cr-1Mo-V-Ti material for thermal power plant tube was investigated using a dilatometer method. 2.25Cr-1Mo-V-Ti material was heat-treated at $900{\sim}1,100^{\circ}C$ for 0, 10, 30 min to find the proper dissolution condition of M23C6 carbides. The phase identification and volume fraction of the carbide were measured by using OM, SEM, EBSD and TEM analysis. Optimal heat treatment condition of M23C6 carbide dissolution was selected by predicting dissolution temperature of carbide using Bs points appeared at dilatometer curve. Experimental results showed that the conditions of carbide dissolution was 900, 1,000, $1,100^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. Eventually, the optimal heat treatment condition for dissolution was 30 min at $1,000^{\circ}C$ considering the minimum coarsening of Austenite grain size.

Cr-Mo-V강(T24)의 재현 HAZ의 결정립 성장에 미치는 피크온도의 영향 (Effect of Peak Temperature on the Grain Growth in Simulated HAZ of Cr-Mo-V Steel(T24))

  • Recently developed ferritic heat resistance steel, T24 was used to evaluate microstructure characteristics of simulated heat affected zone. Also, correlation between the prior austenite grain size and amount of $M_{23}C_6$ carbide dissolution was discussed. With the increasing of peak temperature, Grain size steadily increased up to $1050^{\circ}C$ and then rapidly increased at $1150^{\circ}C$. Of the peak temperature $950{\sim}1050^{\circ}C$, amounts of $M_{23}C_6$carbide dissolution are low. But Most of $M_{23}C_6$ carbide that is inhibited grain growth were dissolved above $1050^{\circ}C$ and decreased volume fraction of carbide. This indicates that grain growth may be achieved through dissolution of carbide in the base material. As of welding, due to very rapid heating rate, $M_{23}C_6$ carbide exists above equilibrium solution temperature that is $800^{\circ}C$, even at $1050^{\circ}C$. So, It was confirmed that close correlation between carbide dissolution in the base material and grain growth. Calculated grain size has a linear relationship with peak temperature, on the other hand, measured grain size discontinuously increased between $950{\sim}1050^{\circ}C$ and above $1050^{\circ}C$. Grain size of heat affected zone at $1350^{\circ}C$ peak temperature showed maximum 67um and minimum 4um. Also, The number of side showed 3 to 10.

PTA법에 의한 스텔라이트 12합금 육성층의 미세조직 및 경도에 미치는 시효처리의 영향 (The effect of aging on the Microstructure and Hardness of Stellite 12 alloy overlayer by PTA process)

  • Stellite 12 alloy-powders were overlaid on 410 stainless steel valve seat by plasma transferred arc(PTA)process. Variation of microstructure and hardness of overlaid deposit with aging time at $750^{\circ}C$ was investigated. The deposit showed hypoeutectic microstructure, which was consisting of primary cobalt dendrite and networked $M_{7}C_{3}$type eutectic carbides. After aging new M_{23}C_{6}$ carbide was formed by the partial decomposition of $M_7C_3$ type eutectic carbides and finely dispersed $M_{23}C_6$ type carbides were also precipitated in the matrix. Hardness of the deposit was increased with increase of aging time at $750^{\circ}C$ and showed maximum value at 35hours. After showing maximum value, it was fallen down again at 70hours because of overaging. The increase of hardness in aging is ascribed to the formation of new stable $M_{23}C_6$ type carbide by the partial decomposition of $M_7C_3$ type eutectic carbides and also precipitation of finely dispersed $M_{23}C_6$ carbides in matrix.

  • Structural studies have been performed on precipitation hardening discovered in $Ll_2$-ordered $Ni_3$(Al,Cr) containing 0.2 and 0.5 mol% of carbon in terms of transmission electron microscopy(TEM). By aging at temperatures around 1073 K after solution treatment at 1423 K, fine polyhedral precipitates appear firstly on the dislocations and then in the matrix. The selected area electron diffraction (SAED) studies revealed that these particles are a $M_{23}C_6$ type carbide which has the cube-cube orientation relationship with the matrix lattice. Weak-beam electron microscopy observations of deformation induced dislocations suggested that the dislocations bypass the carbide particles during deformation.

Co기 초합금 ECY768에서 응고 조직 및 탄화물 형성 거동 (Solidification Microstructure and Carbide Formation behaviors in the Co-base Superalloy ECY768)

  • Directional solidification experiments were carried out at 0.5-150 $\mu\textrm{m}$/s in the Co-base superalloy ECY 768. As increasing solidification rate, the dendrite length increased and it reached the maximum at 150 $\mu\textrm{m}$/s, where the tip temperature is close to the liquidus. The liquidus and eutectic temperatures could be estimated by comparing the dendrite lengths and the temperature gradients at the solid/liquid interface and those were estimated as $1424.6^{\circ}C$ and $1343^{\circ}C$ respectively. Between the dendrites just below final freezing temperature, MC carbide and $M_{23}$$C_{6}$ carbide were found. It was confirmed that the script or blocky shape was Ta or W-rich MC carbide, and the lamellar shape was Cr-rich eutectic carbide. The solid/liquid interface morphology clearly showed that the Cr-rich eutectic carbide formed just after the script type MC carbide.

Hastelloy X 주조재의 열간 노출에 따른 미세조직 및 인장 특성 변화 (The Effect of Thermal Exposure on the Microstructural Evolution and Tensile Properties in Cast Hastelloy X)

  • Microstructural evolution of cast Hastelloy X during thermal exposure has been investigated. OM, SEM, and TEM microscopy were carried out on the as-cast, the standard heat treated, and the thermally exposed conditions. Tensile tests were also conducted to understand the effect of microstructural evolution on the degradation of tensile properties. Coarse $M_6C$ and fine $M_{23}C_6$ carbides were found in as-cast Hastelloy X with fine carbides on sub-boundary. Some of $M_{23}C_6$ carbide dissolved into the matrix during solution heat treatment and dislocation network formed at the interface between the carbide and the matrix due to the misfit strain. There was no significant microstructural difference between the exposed specimens at $400^{\circ}C$ and the solution heat treated specimen. A large amount of $M_{23}C_6$ carbides precipitated along and near grain boundaries and sub-boundaries after exposure at $650^{\circ}C$. Exposure at $870^{\circ}C$ of the alloy caused precipitation of $M_6C$ and ${\mu}$. The strength increased and the elongation decreased by thermal exposure at $650^{\circ}C$ and $870^{\circ}C$ because carbides interfere with the movement of the dislocation. It was found that the precipitation of carbide gave significant effects on the tensile properties of Hastelloy X.

  • For the purpose of investigating the effect of austenitizing temperatures on the mechanical properties of 0.23% C-13.6%Cr martensitic stainless steel, tensile properties, hardness, impact value and carbide extraction were examined after changing the austenitizing temperatures and tempering temperatures. The results obtained are summerized as follows. The carbide laminations formed from hot rolling before austenitization could not be eliminated after austenitizing at $950^{\circ}C$. With increasing austenitizing temperature, hardness increased and showed maximum value at $1050^{\circ}C$ and then slightly decreased. With increasing tempering temperature up to $500^{\circ}C$, impact value and elongation appeard to be decreased but hardness showed nearly unchanged at austenitizing temperature of $1150^{\circ}C$ due to the fine $M_7C_3$ carbides precipitation. The abrupt increase in impact value, hardness and elongation above the tempering temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ appeared to change in carbide structure from fine $M_7C_3$ to coarse $M_{23}C_6$.

고원변형과 열간노출에 따른 주조용 합금 738LC의 탄화물 분해거동 고찰 (Effects of High Temperature Deformation and Thermal Exposure on Carbide Reaction Cast Alloy 738LC)

  • 니켈기 주조용 합금 738LC를 816$^{\circ}C$와 982$^{\circ}C$에서 크리프 파단 시험과 열간 노출시험을 통해 온도와 응력 변화에 따른 파단양상, 탄화물과 $\sigma$상의 석출 거동에 대해 조사하였다. 816$^{\circ}C$/440MPa에서는 크리프 파단양상이 전단변형에 의한 입내파괴를 나타내었으나, 982$^{\circ}C$/152MPa에서는 표면과 접하는 결정입계에서 입계산화에 의해 표면에너지의 감소로 균열이 나타나 진행되는 입계파괴가 나타났다. M(sub)23C(sub)6 탄화물이 816$^{\circ}C$에서는 주로 결정입계에서와 전단변형에 의한 입내균열을 따라 석출하였으나, 982$^{\circ}C$에서는 결정입계 뿐만 아니라 입내에서는 석출하였으며 석출양은 증가하였다. $\sigma$상은 Cr(sub)23C(sub)6 탄화물에서 핵생성 후 기지로 성장하며, 온도가 높고 응력이 주어지면 Cr(sub)23C(sub)6 탄화물의 양이 증가하여 $\sigma$상의 석출도 많아졌다.
