Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of Li-Substituted $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})(Nb_{0.96}Sb_{0.04})O_3$ Ceramics (Li 치환에 따른 $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})(Nb_{0.96}Sb_{0.04})O_3$ 세라믹스의 유전 및 압전 특성)

  • 최근 유한연료의 고갈로 인해 세계 유가가 불안정 됨으로서 대체 에너지에 대한 연구가 많이 진행 되고 있다. 특히 압전 소자를 이용한 에너지 하베스팅은 압전 역효과를 이용한 것으로서 주변에서 무의미하게 버려지는 진동이나 바람, 열 에너지를 실 생활에 사용할 수 있는 전기 에너지로 변환할 수 있는 유망한 기술 중 하나이다. 이러한 에너지 하베스팅 기술은 일본과 같은 선진국에서 이미 지하철 및 일반 다리와 같이 진동이 극히 많은 곳에서 응용되고 있다. 이러한 에너지 하베스팅 기술을 응용 하려면 전압출력 계수($g_{33}$)가 높아야 한다. 이것은 압전 d 상수와 유전상수에 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 알려져 있다. 현재가지 응용되는 압전 하베스팅 조성은 Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$ (PZT)를 기초로한 세라믹이 응용되고 있다. Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$ (PZT) 세라믹은 Morpohotropic phase boundary(MPB)에서 전기기계 결합계수 (kp) 와 기계적 품질계수 (Qm) 이 각각 0.5와 500으로 우수한 특성을 나타낸다. 또한 큐리온도 (Tc) 도 $400^{\circ}C$로 온도 안정성 또한 높다. 하지만 $1000^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 소결하는 PbO는 소결 중 급격한 휘발로 환경적 오염 뿐 아니라 특성의 저하를 야기시킨다. 그래서 몇몇 나라에서는 그 사용을 제한하고 점차적으로 사용을 줄여 나가고 있는 동시에 PbO가 첨가되어 있지 않은 Lead-Free 세라믹의 연구가 많이 진행되고 있다. Lead-Free 세라믹 중 alkaline niobate를 기초로 한 페로브스카이트 구조의 ($Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3$ (NKN) 은 PbO를 기초로 한 세라믹을 대체할 유망한 후보자 중 하나이다. 하지만 NKN세라믹의 K 성분의 조해성 및 고온에서의 휘발로 인해 일반 적인 소결 방법으로는 고밀도의 세라믹을 얻기 매우 어렵다. 그래서 Hot pressing, Hot forging, RTGG(Reactive Template Grain Growth), SPS(Spark plasma Sintering)와 같은 특별한 소결 법을 이용하거나 $K_8CuNb_4O_{23}$(KCN) 이나 $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}$(KCT) 등을 첨가하여 그 소결성을 향상 시키는 방법도 있다. 또한 압전 d상수를 향상 시키기 위해 $Nb_2O_5$나, $La_2CO_3$, $CeO_2$, $Li_2CO_3$ 등을 치환함으로써 압전 d상수를 향상 시켜 전압출력 계수를 높이는 연구 또한 많은 보고가 되어 있다. 특히 $Li_2CO_3$의 첨가는 일반 적인 소결 방법으로도 밀도의 조밀함을 향상 시켜 그에 따른 높은 유전율과 전기기계 결합계수, 압전 d상수를 가져 많은 연구가 되어지고 있다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 일반적인 ($K_{0.5}N_{0.5})_{1-x}Li_x(Nb_{0.96}Sb_{0.04})O_3$ + 0.2mol%$La_2O_3$ + 1.2mol%$K_8CuNb_4O_{23}$ 세라믹에 x(=Li) 치환에 따른 유전 및 압전특성을 조사하였다.

The effects of TiO2 interlayer phase transition on structural and electrical properties of PLZT Thin Films (TiO2 Interlayer의 상변화에 따른 PLZT 박막의 구조 및 전기적 특성)

  • [ $(Pb_{1.1},La_{0.08})(Zr_{0.65}.Ti_{0.35})O_3$ ] thin films on the $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$, $TiO_2(interlayer)/Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrate were fabricated by the R.F. magnetron-sputtering method and considered their characteristics depending on $TiO_2$ interlayer. Changing the deposition conditions of $TiO_2$ interlayer, we obtained $TiO_2$ anatase single phase and rutile single phase. PLZT was deposited on these substrates and analyzed by x-ray diffraction(XRD) for there crystallinity and orientation. To investigate $PLZT-TiO_2$, $TiO_2-Pt$ interface, glow discharge spectrometer(GDS) analysis was carried out and we performed electrical measurements for dielectric properties of PLZT thin films. The PLZT thin film on $TiO_2$ anatase interlayer was found to have (110)-preferred orientation and 12.6 ${\mu}C/cm^2$ remaining polarization value.

Fabrication and characteristics of modified PZT System doped With $La_2O_3$ ($La_2O_3$가 첨가된 modified PZT계의 제조 및 특성)

  • The effect of $La_2O_3$ as a dopant on the microstructure structure, crystal structure and electrical properties was studied. $0.05Pb(Sn_{0.5}Sb_{0.5})O_3+0.11PbTiO_3+0.84PbZroO_3+0.4Wt%MnO_2$ (=0.05PSS +0.11PT+0.84PZ+0.4wt%$MnO_2$) systems doped with 0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1, 3, 5 mole% $La_2O_3$ were fabricated and investigated sintering density, crystal structure and micro-structure. The sintered 0.05PSS+0.11PT+0.84PZ+0.4wt%$MnO_2$ system doped with $La_2O_3$showed sintering density of the range of 7.683 g/㎤ of 0 mole% doping to 7.815 g/㎤ of 0 mole% doping. The average grain sizes in the range of 0 to 5 mole% $La_2O_3$were decreased from 9.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$ to 1.3 $\mu\textrm{m}$. X-ray diffraction investigation of sintered bodies showed that solid solutions were formed between 0.05PSS+0.11PT+0.84PZ+0.4wt%$MnO_2$ system and $La_2O_3$ in the range of 0 to 1 mole% but second phases were formed in case of 3, 5 mole%. Dielectric constants at 1 kHz were increased with 0 to 3 mlole% $La_2O_3$ before and after poling at the condition of 5 $KV_{DC}$/mm at $120^{\circ}C$ or $140^{\circ}C$ during 20 minutes. All Dielectric losses at 1 kHz were less than 1%, Curie temperatures were $208^{\circ}C$, $183^{\circ}C$, $152^{\circ}C$ and $127^{\circ}C$ at 0, 0.5, 1, 3 mole% $La_2O_3$ respectively. The values of $K_p$ were increased from 0 to 3 mole% $La_2O_3$ after poling at condition of 5 $KV_{DC}$mm at the condition of $120^{\circ}C$ or $140^{\circ}C$. The case of 0.7 mole% $La_2O_3$doped 0.05PSS+0.11PT+0.84PZ+0.4wt%$MnO_2$ system showed $K_p$ of 14.5% by poling at $140^{\circ}C$ during 20 minutes.

소결한 $(Bi_xLa_{1-x})Ti_3O_{12}$ 강유전체에서 조성 및 첨가물질에 따른 미세구조 및 전기적 특성 평가

  • 비휘발성 메모리 Fe-RAM은 빠른 정보처리 속도와 전원공급이 차단되었을 때도 계속 정보를 유지할 수 있는 비휘발성 특징과 더불어 저전압, 저전력 구동의 장점이 있어서, 차세대 메모리로 많은 주목을 받고 있다. FeRAM에 사용되는 강유전체는 주로 Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$가 적용되었는데, 최근에는 비납계 강유전체의 연구도 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 비납계 강유전체 중에서 가장 특성이 우수한 물질은 $(Bi,La)_4Ti_3O_{12}$ (BLT) 이다. 그런데 BLT는 결정 방향에 따른 강한 이방성의 강유전 특성을 나타내기 때문에 BLT 박막을 이용하여 Fe-RAM 소자 등을 제작하기 위해서는 결정의 방향성을 세심하게 제어하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 지금까지 연구된 BLT 박막의 방향성 조절결과를 보면, BLT 박막을 스핀 코팅 법 (spin coating method)으로 증착하고, 핵생성 열처리 단계를 조절하여 무작위 방향성을 갖는 박막을 제조하는 방법이 일반적이었다. 그런데 이러한 스핀 코팅법에서의 핵생성 단계의 제어는 공정 조건 확보가 너무 어려운 단점이 있다. 이러한 어려움을 극복할 수 있는 대안은 스퍼터링 증착법(sputtering deposition method), PLD (pulsed laser deposition)법 등과 같은 PVD (physical vapor deposition) 법의 증착방법을 적용하는 것이다. PVD 법으로 증착하는 경우에는 이미 박막 내에 무수한 결정핵이 존재하기 때문에 핵생성 단계가 필요가 없게 된다. PVD 증착법의 적용을 위해서는 타겟의 제조 및 평가 실험이 선행되어야 한다. 그런데 벌크 BLT 재료의 소결공정 조건과 전기적 특성에 관한 연구 결과는 거의 발표가 되지 않고 있다. 본 실험에서는 $Bi_2O_3,\;TiO_2,\;La_2O_3,\;Nb_2O_5\;and\;Al_2O_3$ 분말들을 이용하여 최적의 조성을 구하기 위하여 $Nb^{+5}$$Al^{+3}$$Ti^{+4}$ 자리에 소량 치환시켜 제조하였다. 혼합된 분말을 하소 후 pellet 형태로 성형하여 소결을 실시하였다. 시편을 1mm 두께로 연마하고, 양면에 silver 전극을 인쇄하여 전기적 특성을 측정하였다. 측정결과 $Ti^{+4}$ 자리에 $Nb^{+5}$를 치환하여 제조한 시편에서 $2P_r{\sim}31\;{\mu}c/cm^2$정도의 매우 우수한 특성을 얻었다.

Effect of Seeding Layers on Preparation of PLZT Thin Films by Sol-Gel Method

  • $(Pb_xLa_{1-x}) (Zr_yTi_{1-y})O_3$ (PLZT) thin films with electrooptic effect are promising for the optical application such as display or light shutter. However, it is difficult to use inexpensive and transparent glass substrates because the conventional process for preparation of PLZT requires temperatures above $600^{\circ}C$. In order to deposit a perovskite PLZT thin films at low processing temperatures through alkoxide route, we have offered several seeding processes which reduce the activation energy for crystallization. In this study, we optimized the stacking structure of multilayered PLZT for obtaining single phase perovskite at lower temperatures. As a result, ferroelectric PLZT thin films with different compositions were successfully prepared at a temperature as low at $500^{\circ}C$.

  • In an effort to develop alternative single buffer layer technology for YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-{\delta}}$ (YBCO) coated conductors, we have investigated both LaMnO$_3$, (LMO) and La$_2$Zr$_2$O$_{7}$ (LZO) as potential buffer layers. High-quality LMO films were grown directly on textured Ni and Ni-W (3%) substrates using rf magnetron sputtering. Highly textured LZO buffers were grown on textured Ni substrates using sol-gel alkoxide processing route. YBCO films were then grown on both LMO and LZO buffers using pulsed laser deposition. Detailed X-ray studies have shown that YBCO films were grown on both LMO and LZO layers with a single epitaxial orientation. A high J$_{c}$ of over 1 MA/cm$^2$ at 77 K and self-field was obtained on YBCO films grown on both LMO-buffered Ni or Ni-W substrates, and also on LZO-buffered Ni substrates. We have identified LaMnO$_3$ as a good diffusion barrier layer for Ni and it also provides a good template for growing high current density YBCO films. Similarly we have also demonstrated the growth of high J$_{c}$ YBCO films on all solution buffers. We will discuss in detail about our buffer deposition processes. processes.s.s.s.s.

The Electrochemical Property of the Single-Chamber Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Based on a Zirconia Electrolyte (지르코니아 전해질을 이용한 단실형 고체산화물 연료전지의 전기화학 특성)

  • Single-chamber solid oxide fuel cells (SC-SOFCs) consist of only one gas chamber, in which both the anode and the cathode are exposed to the same fuel-oxidant mixture. Thus, this configuration shows good thermal and mechanical resistance and allows rapid start-up and -down. In this study, the unit cell consisting of $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}MnO_3$ (cathode) / $Zr_{0.84}Y_{0.16}O_{2-x}$ (electrolyte) / $Ni-Zr_{0.84}Y_{0.16}O_{2-x}$ (anode) was fabricated and its electrochemical property was investigated as a function of temperature and the volume ratio of fuel and oxidant for SC-SOFCs. Impedance spectra were also investigated in order to figure out the electrical characteristics of the cell. As a result, the cell performance was governed by the polarization resistances of the electrodes. The cell exhibited an acceptable cell-performance of $86mW/cm^2$ at $800^{\circ}C$ and stable performance for 3 hs under 0.7 V.

  • 0.10Pb(SbS11/2TSnS11/2T)OS13T-0.25PbTiOS13T-0.65PbZrOS13T ceramics modified by LaS12TOS13T(1[mol%]) and MnOS12T(0-0.30[mol%]) were fabricated. The structural and pyroelectric properties with contents of MnOS12T were studied. Crystal structure of a specimen was rhombohedral type and average grain sizes were decreased with increasing the contents of MnOS12T. Relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor were minimum in the specimens doped 0.24[mol%]MnOS12T. (PbS10.99TLaS10.01T)[(SbS11/2TSnS11/2T) TiS10.25TZrS10.65T]OS13T specimen modified 0.24[mol%]MnOS12T showed the good pyroelectric properties and pyroelectric coefficient and voltage responsivity were 6.73x10S0-8T[C/cmS02TK], 125[V/W], respectively. Voltage responsivity was increased with decreasing the chopper frequency.

The Effect of Ar/O2 Partial Pressure Ratio on the Ferroelectric Properties of (Pb0.92La0.08)(Zr0.65Ti0.35)O3 Thin Films Deposited by RF Magnetron Sputtering Method (RF Magnetron Sputtering법으로 제작된 (Pb0.92La0.08)(Zr0.65Ti0.35)O3 박막의 Ar/O2 분압비에 따른 강유전 특성연구)

  • PLZT ferroelectric thin films were deposited on Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate with $TiO_2$ buffer layer in between by rf magnetron sputtering method. In order to investigate the effect of Ar/$O_2$ partial pressure ratio on the ferroelectric properties of PLZT thin films, PLZT thin films were deposited at various Ar/$O_2$ partial pressure ratio ; 27/1.5 seem, 23/5.5 seem, 21/7.5 seem and 19/9.5 seem. The crystallinities of PLZT thin films were analyzed by XRD. The surface morphology was observed using FE-SEM. The P-E hysteresis loops, the remanent polarization characteristics and the leakage current characteristics were obtained using a Precision LC. The crystallinity and elaborateness of PLZT thin films were decreased as increasing the oxygen partial pressure ratio. And preferred orientation of PLZT thin films changed from (110) plane to (111) plane. The oxygen partial pressure ratio affects the thin film surface morphology and the ferroelectric properties.

Body Composition and Firing Temperature of Ancient Pottery Excavated in Chonnam Province (전남지역에서 출토된 고대 도자기의 태토조성과 소성온도)

  • The chamical and physical properties of the fragments of an ancient pottery such as earthenware, gliazed pottery and celadon excavated in Chonnam province has been investigated by X-ray diffraction inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy(ICP), thermal mechanical analysis(TMA). Glazed pottery fragments of Chonnam province are cotaining Fe2O3 $4\~7\%$ by the analyis of ICP, firing temperature range was presumed to $1100-1150^{\circ}C$ by TMA. Celadon fragments of Chonnam province are containing Fe2O3 $2\~3\%$ by the analyis of ICP, firing temperature range was presumed to $1140\~1200^{\circ}C$ by TMA. The charateristics in the trace element composition of an ancient pottery of Chonnam provinceis are similar, it is an reflection of similar geological charateristics. The charateristic elements of Chonnam provincical ancient pottery were Rb, Sr, V, Zr, Y, Nd, Sc, La, Ce, Nb, Sm, Eu, Dy and Yb of the analyzed 21 trace elements. By Fe2O3-Zn ditribution diagram, potteries excavated in Yong-am, celadons excavated in Haenam, Kangjin, Buan and glazed pottery excavated in Hae-nam are grouped into the same class.
