Effect of Substrates on Structural and Electrical Properties of Chemical Solution Derived LaNiO3 thin Films

  • LaNiO3 thin films were fabricated on various substrates by spin-coating technique using metal naphthenates as starting materials. Highly-oriented LaNiO3 films with smooth and crack-free surfaces were grown on SrTiO3 (100) and LaAlO3(100) substrates, while films on MgO(100) and Si(100) substrates showed random orientation. In this study, we concluded that lattice-mismatches between LaNiO3 films and substrates used affect film's properties.

내장형 capacitor를 위한 LCP와 $CaTiO_3-LaAlO_3$ 복합재의 유전특성 (Dielectric Properties of Liquid Crystalline Polymers and $CaTiO_3-LaAlO_3$ Composites for Embedded Matching Capacitors)

  • We manufactured Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) and (1-x)CaTiO3-xLaAlO3 (CT-LA) ceramic composites and investigated dielectric properties to use as embedded capacitor in printed circuit boards and replace LTCC substrate. The dielectric properties of these composites are varied with volume fraction of CT-LA and ratios of CT/LA. Dielectric constants are in the range of 3~15. In addition, we could get low TCC and High Q value that could not achieve in other ceramic-polymer composites. Especially, in composite with x=0.01 and 30 vol% CT-LA, the dieletric constant and Q-value are 10 and 200, respectively. And more TCC is $-28{\sim}300ppm/^{\circ}C$ in the temperature range of $-55{\sim}125^{\circ}C$. We think that this composites can be used high-Q substrate material like LTCC and embedded temperature compensation capacitor in printed circuit boards.

GNP법에 의해 합성한 (La1-xSrx)Mn1+yO3−δ 분말의 출발물질에 따른 특성 (Effect of Starting Materials on the Characteristics of (La1-xSrx)Mn1+yO3−δ Powder Synthesized by GNP)

  • We synthesized $(La_{1-x}Sr_x)MnO_3$ as a cathode for SOFC by glycine nitrate process (GNP) and knew the different properties of $(La_{1-x}Sr_x)MnO_3$ by using nitrate solution and oxide solution as a starting material. In case of using nitrate solution as a starting material, main crystal phase peak of $LaMnO_3$ increased as Sr content added up and a peak of $Sr_2MnO_4\;and\;La_2O_3$ was showed as a secondary phase. We added Mn excess to control a crystal phase. In this case, the electrical conductivity had a high value 210.3 S/cm at $700^{\circ}C$. On the other side, when we used oxide solution as a starting material, we found main crystal phase of $LaMnO_3$ to increase as Sr content added up and a peak of $La_2O_3$ as a secondary phase. Similary, we added Mn excess to control a crystal phase in this case. We knew $(La,Sr)MnO_3$ powder to sinter well and the electrical conductivity of the sintered body at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 4 h was 152.7 S/cm at $700^{\circ}C$. The sintered $(La,Sr)MnO_3$ powder at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 4 h got the deoxidization peak, depending on the temperature and in case of using nitrate solution as a starting material, the deoxidization peak was showed at $450^{\circ}C$ which is lower than used a oxide solution as a starting material. As a result, when $(La,Sr)MnO_3$ powder was synthesized to add Mn excess and to use nitrate solution as a starting material, we found it to have the higher deoxidization property and considered it as a cathode for SOFC properly. And we found it to have different electrical conductivity the synthesized $(La,Sr)MnO_3$ powder by using different starting materials like nitrate solution and oxide solution which influence a sintering density and crystal phase.

  • 양이온 결손 La0.970Mn0.970O3의 x-ray photoemission spectroscopy를 온도를 함수로 측정하였다. 온도의 변화에 따라서 Mn 2p와 3d core level의 화학적 변동 및 이동이 관측되었다. 즉 Mn 2p 3/2와 1/2 및 La 3d core 스펙트럼은 온도의 증가와 함께 저 결합 에너지 측으로 이동이 관측되었다. 이러한 XPS 관측 결과는 Mn3+의 localization의 강도 변화에 의한 것으로 사료되며, Mn3+에 의한 Jahn-Teller효과 이외에도 conventional random potential 효과 역시 La0.790Mn0.970O3의 전도 carrier의 localization에 기여하는 것으로 사료된다.

Effect of Annealing Atmosphere on the La2O3 Nanocrystallite Based Charge Trap Memory

  • $Pt/Al_2O_3/La_2Si_5O_x/SiO_2/Si$ charge trap memory capacitors were prepared, in which the $La_2Si_5O_x$ film was used as the charge trapping layer, and the effects of post annealing atmospheres ($NH_3$ and $N_2$) on their memory characteristics were investigated. $La_2O_3$ nanocrystallites, as the storage nodes, precipitated from the amorphous $La_2Si_5O_x$ film during rapid thermal annealing. The $NH_3$ annealed memory capacitor showed higher charge storage performances than either the capacitor without annealing or the capacitor annealed in $N_2$. The memory characteristics were enhanced because more nitrogen was incorporated at the $La_2Si_5O_x/SiO_2$ interface and interfacial reaction was suppressed after the $NH_3$ annealing treatment.

$(Pb, La)TiO_3$ 세라믹스의 소결 거동 및 유전.초전 특성 (Sintering Behavior, Dielectric and Pyroelectric Properties of $(Pb, La)TiO_3$ Ceramics)

  • The sintering behavior of La-modified PbTiO3 ceramics was investigated in order to improve the poor sinterability of PbTiO3. Addition of La improved the sinterability. It was confirmed that this improvement was due to the decrease in tetragonality ratio c/a of crystal lattice. The variations of dielectric constant and pyroelectric coefficient were measured with temperature. It was observed that with the increase of La content, Curie temperature decreased and dielectric constant at room temperature increased. La-modified PbTiO3 ceramics had smaller pyroelectric figure of merits than those of pyroelectric materials in use. The effects of grain size on dielectric and pyroelectric properties were also investigated. The change of grain size had effect on maximum dielectric constant and pyroelectric coefficient, but is had little effect on pyroelectric figure of merit at room temperature. The closer examination near ferro-paraelectric phase transition temperature revealed that the behavior of phase transition approached a more relaxor character with the increase of La content and the decrease of grain size.

  • $(1-x)Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.78}K_{0.22})_{0.5}TiO_3-xLaFeO_3$ ceramics were fabricated using a solid state reaction method. The microstructural, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and polarization hysteresis loops (P-E). XRD results indicated that BNKT ceramic crystal structure modified by $LaFeO_3$ was transformed from a ferroelectric tetragonal to a non-polar pesudo-cubic phase with increased $LaFeO_3$ content. The improved piezoelectric properties resulted from the addition of $LaFeO_3$ up to 3 mol%. The $LaFeO_3$ 3mol% sample showed markedly improved piezoelectric and strain behaviors in comparison with pure BNKT ceramic.

고온수증기전기분해용 La1-x(Ca or Sr)xCrO3(x=0 and 0.25) 연결재 재료 연구 (Investigation of the La1-x(Ca or Sr)xCrO3x=0 and 0.25) Interconnect Materials for High Temperature Electrolysis of Steam)

  • 고온 수증기 전기분해용 $La_{1-x}(Ca\;or\;Sr)xCrO_3$(x=0 and 0.25) 연결재 재료의 소결도와 전기 전도도에 대해서 연구하였다. 이러한 목적으로 $LaCrO_3$, $La_{0.75}Ca_{0.25}CrO_3$(LCC)와 $La_{0.75}Sr_{0.25}CrO_3$(LSC) 분말들은 공침법을 통해 합성하였으며, 결정구조는 X-Ray Diffraction(XRD)를 통해 확인하였다. 소결 특성은 상대밀도와 주사 전자현미경을 통해 분석하였고 전기 전도도는 직렬 4-단자 법으로 측정하였다. 상대 밀도 분석으로부터 도핑된 $LaCrO_3$$LaCrO_3$보다 더 높은 소결성을 나타내었고, 입자 크기가 작을수록 소결성이 향상하는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 다양한 소결온도에서 얻은 LCC, LSC 시편들의 XRD 결과는 LCC와 LSC의 소결성이 2차상의 상전이와 밀접한 관련이 있다는 사실을 나타내었다. 다시 말해, LCC는 $1,300^{\circ}C$ 이상, LSC는 $1,400^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 2차상이 융해됨으로써 소결성을 현저하게 향상시킨다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 비슷한 상대밀도를 가진 LCC와 LSC의 전기 전도도를 비교 측정한 결과, LCC가 LSC보다 더 높은 전기 전도도를 나타낸다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}MnO_{3-\delta}$ as air electrode for soild oxide fuel cell was synthesized by a citrate process and its cathodic polarization was determinated by the current interruption method on the Gd-doped ceria as electrolyte. The addition of citric acid increased the exothermic heat for the formation of $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}MnO_{3-\delta}$ perovskite oxide. The degree of the initial particle agglomeration was affected by the exothermic heat. Also the increase of cal-cination temperature enlarged the particle size and the higher sintering temperature accelerated the den-sification of $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}MnO_{3-\delta}$ layer after its being painted on $Ce_{0.8}Gd_{0.2}O_{1.9}$ electrolyte. In this study $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}MnO_{3-\delta}$ synthesized by citrate process of which the molar ratio of citric acid to metal nitrate was 2 calcined at $650^{\circ}C$ for 2hr and sintered at 1100 at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 4 hrs after slurry coating on Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 electrlyte showed the lowest cathodic polarization.
