용액연소합성법을 이용한 LaFeO3 분말 합성 및 탄소 연소 특성 (Solution Combustion Synthesis of LaFeO3 Powders and Their Carbon Ignition Property)

  • [ $LaFeO_3$ ] powders were prepared as the oxidation catalyst materials to reduce the emission of particulate matters from diesel engine and their catalytic effects on the oxidation of carbon were investigated. Solution combustion method was employed for the powder synthesis, which uses highly exothermic and selfsustaining reactions. In this study $LaFeO_3$ powders were synthesized at $400^{\circ}C$ as varying the ratio ($\Phi$) of fuel (citric acid) and oxidizer (metal nitrate), and their phase and carbon ignition property were examined. As $\Phi$ decreases, the crystallinity of synthesized $LaFeO_3$ powders enhanced. By calcining at $700^{\circ}C$, all the powders synthesized at various $\Phi$ fully crystallized. The calcined $LaFeO_3$ powders showed carbon ignition temperature as low as $501{\sim}530^{\circ}C$, which implied the decrease of the ignition temperature by $120{\sim}150^{\circ}C$.

Magnetic Properties of Sr-ferrite Powder Prepared by Intensive Mechanical Milling Technique

  • As an alternative promising way of producing high coercivity Sr-ferrite for a permanent magnet application, intensive mechanical milling process was applied to the raw materials of the Sr-ferrite with different composition. Synthesising reactivity for the Sr-ferrite of the mechanically milled raw material containing $SrCO_3$, $La_2O_3$, $Fe_2O_3$, $Co_3O_4$, and $SiO_2$ was inferior to that of the raw material containing $SrCO_3$ and $Fe_2O_3$, The Sr-ferrite prepared from mechanically milled raw materials had profoundly improved magnetic properties compared to the Sr-ferrite prepared by conventional method. Beneficial effect of the substituting ($La_2O_3$, $Co_3O_4$) and additive ($SiO_2$) oxides for improving the magnetic properties was not exploited in the Sr-ferrite prepared from the mechanically milled raw material. The Sr-ferrite powder prepared from the mechanically milled raw materials was magnetically isotropic in nature.

졸-겔법으로 합성한 La0.2Ca0.8MnO3의 분말과 펠렛의 특성 (Characteristics of La0.2Ca0.8MnO3 Powder and Pellet Prepared by Sol-Gel Process)

  • 아세틸아세톤이 치환된 금속-킬레이트 착물에 polyethylene glycol를 첨가시켜 안정하고 균일한 졸 용액을 얻은 뒤, 페로보스카이트 $La_{0.2}Ca_{0.8}MnO_3$의 분말과 펠렛을 합성하였다. 반응과정에 대한 구조변화를 FT-IR과 XRD 분석기로 추적하였고, 입자 크기와 균일도를 살펴보았다. 그리고 온도의 함수로서의 자기적 특성도 관찰하였다.

  • $La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}Co_{0.3}Fe_{0.7}O_{3-{\delta}}$ 조성의 페롭스카이트 산화물을 구연산 법으로 합성하였다. 전구물질의 TGA 열분해 분석 결과 $150{\sim}650^{\circ}C$에서 구연산 복합체가 분해되고, XRD 분석결과 $1,000^{\circ}C$ 이후에 순수한 페롭스카이트 구조가 나타났다. 분말을 일축가압 성형 후 $1,300^{\circ}C$로 소결하여 두께 1.6 mm의 치밀한 구조의 분리막을 제작하였다. $La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}Co_{0.3}Fe_{0.7}O_{3-{\delta}}$의 전기 전도도는 공기분위기에서 $600^{\circ}C$까지는 온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하고, 그 이상의 온도에선 결정 격자로부터의 산소결함 증가에 따라 점차 감소하였다. $700{\sim}950^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 수행된 산소투과실험에서, 투과량은 온도증가에 따라 0.045에서 $0.415ml/cm^2{\cdot}min$로 증가하였으며, 산소투과의 활성화에너지는 89.17 kJ/mol이었다.

  • Thick film formaldehyde (HCHO) gas sensors were fabricated by using $La_1_{-x}Sr_xMO_3$ (M= Fe, Co, Mn) ceramics. The powders of $La_1_{-x}Sr_xMO_3$ (M=Fe, Co, Mn) were synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction method. By using the $La_1_{-x}Sr_xMO_3$ (M=Fe, Co, Mn) paste, the thick-film formaldehyde sensors were prepared on the alumina substrate by silkscreen printing method. The experimental results revealed that $La_1_{-x}Sr_xMO_3$ (M= Fe, Co, Mn) ceramic powder has a perovskite structure and the thick-film sensor shows excellent gas-sensing characteristics to formaldehyde gas (sensitivity of $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}FeO_3$, S= 14.7 at operating temperature of $150^{\circ}C$ in 50 ppm HCHO ambient).

  • 새로운 층상구조인 페로브스카이트 망가나이트 $La_{0.5}Sr_{1.5}Mn_{0.5}Cr_{0.5-x}Fe_xO_4$ (x=0.15, 0.3) 를 세라믹 방법에 의해 합성하였다. 분말 X-선 측정을 통하여 I4/mmm 의 정방정계 단위세포를 확인하였다. 전기전도도 측정을 통하여 부도체의 특성을 확인하였으며 전기전도도는 3D 홉핑 메커니즘에 의해 나타난다. 자기적 특성은 모두 반강자성의 특성을 보인다.

  • La doped CuO-ZnO-$Al_2O_3$ powders are prepared by sol-gel method with aluminum isopropoxide and primary distilled water as precursor and solvent. In this synthesized process, the obtained metal oxides caused the precursor such as copper (II) nitrate hydrate and zinc (II) nitrate hexahydrate were added. To improve the surface areas of La doped CuO-ZnO-$Al_2O_3$ powder, sorbitan (z)-mono-9-octadecenoate (Span 80) was added. The synthesized powder was calcined at various temperatures. The dopant was found to affect the surface area and particle size of the mixed oxide, in conjunction with the calcined temperature. The structural analysis and textual properties of the synthesized powder were measured with an X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), a Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), Bruner-Emmett-Teller surface analysis (BET), Thermogravimetry-Differential Thermal analysis (TG/DTA), $^{27}Al$ solid state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and transform infrared microspectroscopy (FT-IR). An increase of surface area with Span 80 was observed on La doped CuO-ZnO-$Al_2O_3$ powders from $25m^2$/g to $41m^2$/g.

  • [ $LaMeO_3$ ](Me = Cr, Co) powders were prepared using the polymeric precursor method. The effects of the chelating agent and the polymeric additive on the synthesis of the $LaMeO_3$ perovskite were studied. The samples were synthesized using ethylene glycol (EG) as the solvent, acetyl acetone (AcAc) as the chelating agent, and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the polymer additive. The thermal decomposition behavior of the precursor powder was characterized using a thermal analysis (TG-DTA). The crystallization and particle sizes of the $LaMeO_3$ powders were investigated via powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and particle size analyzer, respectively. The as-prepared precursor primarily has $LaMeO_3$ at the optimum condition, i.e. for a molar ratio of both metal-source (a : a) : EG (80a : 80a) : AcAc (8a) inclusive of 1 wt% PVP. When the as-prepared precursor was calcined at $700^{\circ}C$, only a single phase was observed to correspond with the orthorhombic structure of $LaCrO_3$ and the rhombohedral structure of $LaCoO_3$. A solid-electrolyte impedance-metric sensor device composed of $Li_{1.5}Al_{0.5}Ti_{1.5}(PO_4)_3$ as a transducer and $LaMeO_3$ as a receptor has been systematically investigated for the detection of NOx in the range of 20 to 250 ppm at $400^{\circ}C$. The sensor responses were able to divide the component between resistance and capacitance. The impedance-metric sensor for the NO showed higher sensitivity compared with $NO_2$. The responses of the impedance-metric sensor device showed dependence on each value of the NOx concentration.

Magnetic Properties of R-YIG (R = La, Nd, and Gd) Derived by a Sol-gel Method

  • $Y_{3-x}R_xFe_5O_{12}$ (R = La, Nd, and Gd) powder were fabricated using a sol-gel pyrolysis method. Their magnetic properties and crystalline structures were investigated using x-ray diffraction (XRD), a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ Spectrometer. The $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra for the powders were taken at various temperatures ranging from 12 K to Curie temperature (Tc). The isomer shifts indicated that the valence states of Fe ions for the 16(a) and 24(d) sites have a ferric character. The saturation magnetization (Ms) increases from 32 to 34 (emu/g) for the YIG, and Nd-YIG, respectively. However, Ms decreases to 27 (emu/g) at Gd-YIG.

Garnet $Y_{2.5}La_{0.5}Fe_5O_{12}$의 Mossbauer 분광학 연구 (Mossbauer Spectroscopy Studies of Garnet $Y_{2.5}La_{0.5}Fe_5O_{12}$)

  • 자성 garnet Y2.5La0.5Fe5O12의 분말을 ethylene glycol을 용매로 이용한 sol-gel방식으로 합성하였다. 시료의 결정학적 및 자기적 성질을 x선 회절기(XRD), 진동시료 자화기(VSM), 그리고 Mossbauer 분광기를 이용하여 연구하였다. 분말의 경우 100$0^{\circ}C$에서 단일상의 garnet결정을 얻었으며 결정구조는 cubic구조이며 격자상수는 12.415$\AA$이었다. Mossbauer spectrum은 13K부터 700K까지 측정하였으며 Fe는 모두 +3가 상태로 16(a)와 24(d)site에 존재함을 확인하였다. spin wave 상수는 B3/2=0.32$\pm$0.05, C5/2=0.18$\pm$0.05였으며, Debye 온도는 24(d)site인 경우 382K 그리고 16(a) site인 경우 246K였다. VSM 실험으로부터 상온에서 포화 자화값(Ms)은 25emu/g이었다.
