주거 공간에서 고령자 청력손실을 고려한 소음 및 잔향에 따른 음성 전송 성능의 주관적 평가 (Effect of noise and reverberation on subjective measure of speech transmission performance for elderly person with hearing loss in residential space)

  • 본 논문은 주거공간에서 고령자 청력손실을 고려한 소음 및 잔향에 따른 음성 전송 성능을 청취실험을 통해 평가하였다. 주거환경 소음으로 바닥충격음, 교통소음, 공기전달음과 배수소음을 대상으로 하였으며, 공동주택의 잔향환경을 모사하기 위해 실내음향 컴퓨터시뮬레이션을 실시하여 충격응답를 추출하였다. 청취실험 음원은 고령자 청력손실(65세 남성)을 반영하기 위해 소음 및 단어 음원의 고주파대역의 음압레벨을 저감시킨 음원(고령자 음원)과 정상청력을 반영한 원음(청년 음원)을 대상으로 하였다. 청취실험은 각각 3개의 소음레벨($L_{Aeq}$ 30, 40, 50 dB)과 잔향시간(0.5, 1.0, 1.5 s)을 갖는 음환경 조건에서 제시된 단어($L_{Aeq}$ 55 dB)의 음성요해도(speech intelligibility)와 듣기 어려운 정도(listening difficulty)를 평가하는 것으로 하였다. 청취실험 결과, 음성레벨이 55 dB($L_{Aeq}$)일 때 잔향시간 1.0 s 이하 조건에서 충격소음(점핑음) 50 dB($L_{i,Fmax,AW}$)와 정상소음(도로, 음악, 배수 소음) 40 dB($L_{Aeq}$) 이하의 소음레벨에서는 고령자 및 청년 음원 모두 90 % 이상의 음성요해도와 30 % 이하의 듣기 어려운 정도를 확보할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 고령자 청력손실을 반영한 고령자 음원의 경우 청년 음원 보다 음성요해도는 0 % ~ 5 % 낮았고 듣기 어려운 정도는 2 % ~ 10 % 높은 것으로 나타났다.

  • In this study, metrics for evaluation of heavy-weight impact noise were investigated. Heavy-weight impact noises generated by impact ball were recorded in real apartments using binaural microphone. Those sounds were classified into three groups according to frequency characteristics in order to control aspects which affect subjective responses to heavy-weight impact noise. Sound sources for auditory experiment were selected based on the classification result. Then auditory experiments were conducted to investigate the relationship between level indices and subjective responses. The results showed that $L_{Aeq},\;L_{Amax}$ and $LL_z$ as well as $L_{iFmax,AW}$ were highly correlated with subjective response. Therefore, $L_{Aeq}$ and $L_{Amax}$ can be used as metrics for evaluation of heavy-weight impact noise. In further studies, it is needed to verify classification of heavy-weight impact noise generated by bang machine and impact ball.

Interior Noise Characteristics in Japanese, Korean and Chinese Subways

  • The aim of this study was to clarify the characteristics of interior noise in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese subways. The octave-band noise levels, A-weighted equivalent continuous sound pressure level ($L_{Aeq}$) and parameters extracted from interaural cross-correlation/autocorrelation functions (ACF/IACFs) were analyzed to evaluate the noise inside running train cars quantitatively and qualitatively. The average $L_{Aeq}$ was 72-83 dBA. The IACF/ACF parameters of the noise showed variations in their values, suggesting they are affected by the characteristics of the trains running, wheel-rail interaction, and cross-section of the tunnels.

군용항공기 소음평가 단위에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation Unit of a Military Aircraft Noise)

  • Korean 'Law of Aviation' and 'Test Method of Measuring Noise and Vibration' designate to use WECPNL metric based on $L_{max}$ measurement for the accessment of aircraft noise in Korea. However, time duration of noise event can not be considered in $L_{max}$ metric in principle, compensation on the duration has been utilized. A study was done recently to evaluate appropriate duration compensation for the accessment of military aircraft noise under current metric of WECPNL and $L_{max}$. This study was carried out to evaluate what metric is the most appropriate to express aircraft noise including time duration of single noise event, computing and comparing noise exposure with 1 second noise measurement data of military aircraft in $L_{max}$, $L_{Aeq,\;T}$ and SEL. This study shows SEL is the most appropriate noise metric for the evaluation of noise exposure with time duration such as aircraft noise without compensation. It is suggested to use SEL noise metric instead of $L_{max}$ noise metric with duration compensation for the aircraft noise accessment either military aircraft or civilian aircraft.

선박의 담당업무에 따른 소음노출레벨 측정에 관한 연구 (Noise Exposure Level Measurements for Different Job Categories on Ships)

  • 통상적으로 직업소음에 의한 청력손실을 최소화하기 위해서는 작업자가 8시간 동안 85 dBA 이상 소음에 노출되지 않도록 권고하고 있다. 이번 연구에서는 실습선박에서 7종류의 담당업무별 작업자들의 소음노출레벨을 측정하였다. 항해 중, 24시간 동안 작업자의 위치하는 A특성등가소음레벨(LAeq,i)과 소음장소의 지속기간(h) 및 소음기여도(Lex,24h,i)를 고려한 소음노출레벨(Lex,24h)을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 갑판사관 그룹 Lex,24h=56.1 dB, 갑판부원 그룹은 Lex,24h=58.9 dB, 실습항해사들은 Lex,24h=62.0 dB, 취사부원들은 Lex,24h=64.3 dB, 실습기관사그룹은 Lex,24h=91.1 dB, 기관사관 그룹은 Lex,24h=91.1 dB, 그리고 기관부원 그룹은 Lex,24h=95.1 dB를 나타내고 있다. 따라서 기관 업무를 담당하는 기관사들, 기관부원들 그리고 기관실습생들은 반드시 청력보호구를 착용해야함을 알 수 있었다. 소음이 심한 기관실에서 청력보호구를 착용한다면 기관사관그룹은 Lex,24h=23.1 dB, 기관부원그룹은 Lex,24h=24.4 dB 그리고 기관실습생들은 Lex,24h=21.5 dB의 소음노출레벨을 줄일 수 있을 것으로 추정된다. 또한 실습생들의 거주구역인 제2 강의실 겸 식당구역에 바닥시공을 64 mm, A-60-class 뜬바닥 구조로 개선했다면 실습항해사들의 소음노출도는 Lex,24h=4.3 dB, 실습기관사들은 Lex,24h=1.8 dB 정도 추가적인 감소가 있었을 것이다.

도시 환경음의 음질 평가 (Evaluation of Sound Quality for Urban Environmental Sound)

  • This study performed an physical analysis on the characteristics of urban environmental sound divided into three parts depending on their features. Object sounds were classified into traffic sound, waster sound and spatial sound. Traffice sound was selected because it is dominant sound in urban environment, and water sound is selected because it generally supplies pleasantness in contrast to traffic sound, Finally spatial sound was considered because it represents sound in various places of city having lots of behaviors and types of sound due to them. Physcal analysis was carried out using sound quality indices based on Zwicker's loudness, $L_{Aeq}$(equivalent noise level), Ln(percentile noise level) and other acoutical attributes applied to previous study. Through the analysis, this study aims to compare the acoustical characteristics of urban environmental sound and to provide fundamental data for the evaluation of urban environmental sound.

  • Relationship between exposure to combined noise sources and community annoyance have been investigated. Social surveys were conducted in urban spaces near the construction site with road traffics. The question relating to noise annoyance was answered on an 11-point numerical scale and 5-point verbal scale according to ISO 15666. The questionnaire also contained demographic factors, interference with daily activities, health-related symptoms, and noise sensitivity. Noise levels were measured in terms of A-weighted equivalent level ($L_{Aeq}$), and noise mapping technique was applied to predict the noise levels of urban spaces. Synthesis curves for the relationship between noise levels and percentage highly annoyed for combined noise sources were derived, and compared to the curves from a single noise source.

  • The assessment of an urban site depends on the way it responds to multiple needs such as functionality, aesthetic and complex comfort of acoustic, thermal, lighting and air quality This study aims to investigate the assessment of various urban soundscapes in the sense of acoustic amenity by the questionnaires. As a result, acoustic amenity assessment was influenced by the non-acoustic factors such as environment assessment of visual, thermal, air quality etc.. And it was shown that the subjects tend to perceive the noise level less than 3$\sim$10dB L$_{Aeq}$ under the similar noise exposure level according to the urban landscapes.

  • The study show that things about the noise control are indicated at The Noise & Vibration Control Act and the other Act. Also, the details program and total government ministries' program for the noise control are indicated what are the advance noise control plan. The study consist of the four part which are "Draw up the environmental noise infrastructure plan; the install shall be done the noisemap & the automatic noise measurement devices", "Resetting of environmental noise standard at the application area and Introduce of indoor noise; the guide for region classification of the noise standard & indoor noise", "Setting of aircraft noise standard and Program of measurement point operation; the noise-assessment-standard shall change from WECPN to new index($L_{den}$, $L_{dn}$, $L_{Aeq\;24h}$) & the operation and control of aircraft noise measurement changes from local environmental office to central control center" and "The method of noise regulation at construction site and the plan on making of standard for vibration regulation; It shall be made that the guideline of construction noise should include a target-construction, noise standard etc & the ministries shall unify control about construction vibration of the blasting vibration". The advance noise-policy will improve efficiency to deal with civil appeal & damage on residents about noise.

Noise and Room Acoustic Conditions in a Tertiary Referral Hospital, Seoul National University Hospital

  • Background and Objectives: Noise levels and room acoustic parameters at a tertiary referral hospital, Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) in Korea, are investigated. Materials and Methods: Through a questionnaire, acoustically problematic rooms are identified. Noise levels in emergency rooms (ERs) and intensive care units (ICUs) are measured over about three days. Acoustically critical and problematic rooms in the otolaryngology department are measured including examination rooms, operating rooms, nurse stations, receptions, and patient rooms. Results: The A-weighted equivalent noise level, LAeq, ranges from 54 to 56 dBA, which is at least 10 dB lower than the noise levels of 65 to 73 dBA measured in American ERs. In an ICU, the noise level for the first night was 66 dBA, which came down to 56 dBA for the next day. The noise levels during three different ear surgeries vary from 57 to 62 dBA, depending on the use of surgical drills and suctions. The noise levels in a patient room is found to be 47 dBA, while the nurse stations and the receptions have high noise levels up to 64 dBA. The reverberation times in an operation room, examination room, and single patient room are found to be below 0.6 s. Conclusions: At SNUH, the nurse stations and receptions were found to be quite noisy. The ERs were quieter than in the previous studies. The measured reverberation times seemed low enough but some other nurse stations and examination rooms were not satisfactory according to the questionnaire.
