저산소환경이 방어(Seriola quinqueradiata) 순환계의 산소운반 기능에 미치는 영향 (Cardiorespiratory Regulations in the Japanese Amberjack (Seriola quinqueradiata) Exposed to Acute Hypoxia)

  • We studied the cardio-respiratory properties in the Japanese amberjack (Seriola quinqueradiata) during acute hypoxia exposure. Fish were exposed to three levels of hypoxia (80, 60 or 50 mmHg) for 60 min at $25^{\circ}C$. Cardiovascular parameters (cardiac output; Q, heart rate; HR, stroke volume; SV, blood pressure; $P_{DA}$) changed little from pre-exposure values during both 80 and 60 mmHg of hypoxia. During 50 mmHg of hypoxia, the fish showed a bradycardia which significantly affected Q, whereas no change in SV. $P_{DA}$ increased transiently. Arterial oxygen partial pressure ($PaO_2$) immediately reduced along with a decrease of the water oxygen partial pressure ($P_WO_2$). Arterial $O_2$ content ($CaO_2$) decreased significantly only after 60 min of 50 mmHg of hypoxia. Arterial pH (pHa) and hematocrit value (Hct) did not change significantly. Comparing the effects of different levels of hypoxia, oxygen delivery to the tissues ($Q\;{\times}\;CaO_2$) should be maintained a constant over a broad range of $P_WO_2$, however, severely depressed below 50 mmHg of hypoxia.

  • 본실험에서 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) Inulin을 분해하는 효소를 생산하는 Aspergillus속 1주를 선별하였다. 2) 선별된 묘주효소의 E.P차에 의한 침전은 pH8~5에서 효소단백질이 다량 회수되었다. 3) 선별된 묘주가 분비하는 Inulase활성최적 pH는 3.0부근이 었다. 4) 선별된 묘주의 Inulin 분해효소의 활성최적 온도는 $55^{\circ}C$였다. 5) 본 Sample효소의 열에 대한 안정성은 $50^{\circ}C$에서 10분간 열처리 하여도 안정하였다. 6) 본 Sample효소의 안정 pH는 2.5~4.5정도였다. 7) 본 Sample효소의 금속 ion에 대한 영향은 $Mg^{++}$는 Activator였으며 $Sb^{+++}$, $Bi^{+++}$.는 저농도에서는 inhibitor였으나 $10^{-4}$ M~$10^{-4}$ M 농도일때는 촉진시켰으며 더욱 금속 ion농도가 높아짐에 따라 inhibition하였으며 $Ag^{++}$, $Hg^{++}$의 경우에는 저농도($10^{-8}$ M)일 때는 Activation하였고 반면, 농도가 높아짐에 따라 저해효과가 더욱 컸으며 특히 $Hg^{++}$의 경우 $10^{-2}$ M 농도에서 약 80% 저해를 나타내었다.내었다.

  • 보리차 추출액(抽出液)의 분무건조(噴霧乾燥)를 위(爲)한 분무(噴霧) 장치(裝置)로 paint용(用) spray gun을 사용(使用)할 경우 분무(噴霧)에 중요한 영향(影響) 요소(要素)로 작용하는 보리차 추출액(抽出液)의 물성(物性)을 조사하였으며, 각(各) 농도(濃度) 및 공기(空氣) 송입(送入) 압력(壓力)에서 공기일액체(空氣一液體) 혼(混) 합비(合比)를 산출(算出)할 수 있는 식(式)을 유도하였고 paint용(用) spray gun에 의해 생성(生成)되는 미세액적(微細液滴)의 범위(範圍)를 조사하였다. 1. 보리차 추출액(抽出液)의 고형분(固形分) 함량(含量)(C, %)과 비중(比重)(${\rho}$) 및 점도(粘度)$({\mu},\;cP)$ 와의 관계(關係)는 각각 C=245($C=245({\rho}-1),\;{\mu}=e^{0.17c}$과 같았다. 2. Atomizer를 통과(通過)하는 공기(空基)의 압력(壓力)(P, mmHg)과 공기(空氣)와 액체(液體)의 무게 혼합비(混合比)$(Ma/M{\ell}$)=aP+b의 관계(關係)가 성립(成立)하였다. 이 식(式)에서 a, b는 보리차 추출액(抽出液)의 농도(濃度)에 따라 정(定)해지는 계수이다. 3. 페인트용(用) spray gun의 분무(噴霧)에 의하여 형성(形成)되는 미세액적(微細液滴)은 보리차 추출액(抽出液)의 농도(濃度)가 $3.1%{\sim}25.2%$, 공기 송입(送入) 압력(壓力)이 $164{\sim}564mmHg$인 조건하(條件下)에서 $13{\mu}m{\sim}270{\mu}m$ 크기의 범위(範圍)에 있었다.

염소의 산·염기 균형 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Acid-Base Balance in Goats)

  • The changes of acid-base status in vitro of the venous blood for 24 hours in ten Korean native goat were investigated. The acid-base parameters were measured within ten minutes after collection of the blood, and every hour during the first six hours and finally after twenty four hours of storage. Blood samples were stored at two different temperatures ($0-4^{\circ}C$ and $21-24^{\circ}C$). Twelve goats were induced acute acid-base disturbances by intravenous infusion of either hydrochloric acid or sodium bicarbonate and inhalated with $CO_2$ gas mixture (20% $CO_2$, 80% $O_2$) or hyperventilation were performed by means of respirator. The results were as follows; 1. Blood samples could be stored during the first two hours in ice water ($0-4^{\circ}C$) and one hour at room temperature without significant changes in pH. The magnitudes of changes were similar to those of cow, and lower than those of men and dogs. 2. The mean values of acid-base parameters in normal goat were arterial pH, 7.40; $P_{CO_2}$, 35.4mmHg; $HCO_3{^-}$, 21.8mEq/L. 3. Both the base excess and the bicarbonate showed high correlation (r=0.99) during the metabolic disturbance and were represented as $B.E.=1.38\;HCO^-{_3}-29.7$. 4. The slope of blood buffer curve obtained from the in vivo experiment was 16.3mEq/L/pH. 5. The magnitudes of changes in hydrogen ion concentration per unit change of $P_{CO_2}$ were 0.8nM/mmHg in hypercapnia and 1.0nM/mmHg in hypocapnia. 6. The ranges of acid-base parameters in normal goat urine were pH, 6.0-8.1; $P_{CO_2}$, 42-61mmHg; $HCO_3{^-}$, 2-110mEq/L. The concentration of potassium was higher (60-200mEq/L), and that of sodium was lower (8-70mEq/L) than those of human urine.

Effect of weak interlayer coupling on critical fluctuation in high $T_c$ superconductors

  • The magnetization and/or resistivity of high $T_c$ superconductors ($YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$(YBCO) single crystal, $Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_8$ (Bi-2212) single crystal, $Tl_2Ba_2CaCu_2O_8$ (Tl-2212) film, $HgBa_2Ca_2Cu_3O_8$ (Hg-1223) film) have been measured as a function of magnetic field H and temperature T. The extracted fluctuation part of the magnetization and conductivity exhibits a critical behavior consistent with the three-dimensional XY model. The dynamic critical exponent z does not sensitively vary with a type of the superconductors. The value of z ranges from 1.5 to $1.8{\pm}0.1$. However, the static critical exponent ${\nu}$ is the most largely increased in Tl-2212 that has a weaker interlayer coupling strength than YBCO; the value of ${\nu}$ is 0.669, 0.909, 1.19, and 1.338 for YBCO, Bi-2212, Hg-1223, and Tl-2212 respectively. The results indicate that the weak interlayer coupling along the c-axis of high $T_c$ superconductors near $T_c$ does not influence the dynamic critical exponent z (the same value of superfluid $^4He$), but significantly increases the static critical exponent ${\nu}$.

기관내삽관이 뇌압변동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect for Intracranial Pressure during Laryngoscopy and Endotracheal Intubation)

  • 전신마취시 후두경의 사용과 기관내삽관이 혈압 및 뇌압을 상승시킬 수 있음은 잘 알려져 있으며 이는 이미 뇌압이 상승되어 있는 환자에게는 매우 위험할 수 있다. 따라서 저자들은 현재 통상 시행되고 있는 전신마취 유도방법인 thiopental, S.C.C., intubation 과정이 어느 정도의 뇌압상승을 유발시키는지를 알아보기 위하여, 뇌압측정장치가 되어있는 개두술 환자 13명에게 위와 같은 마취유도시 뇌압 및 동맥압의 변화를 측정하여 보았던바 뇌압은 $7.1{\pm}7.23mmHg$, 동맥압은 $43.5{\pm}25.46nmHg$, 뇌관류압은 $33.3{\pm}27.53mmHg$ 상승되었다. 이러한 결과로 미루어 보아, 이미 뇌압이 상승되어 있는 환자의 마취유도 시에는 필히 마취유도에 따른 뇌압상승을 예방할 수 있는 처치를 강구해야만 할 것으로 사료된다.

Identification of Genes Associated with Early and Late Response of Methylmercury in Human Neuroblastoma Cell Line

  • Methylmercury (MeHg) is known to have devastating effects on the mammalian nervous system. In order to characterize the mechanism of MeHg-induced neurotoxicity, we investigated the analysis of transcriptional profiles on human 8k cDNA microarray by treatment of $1.4{\mu}M$ MeHg at 3, 12, 24 and 48h in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cell line. Some of the identified genes by MeHg treatment were significant at early time points (3h), while that of others was at late time points (48h). The early response genes that may represent those involved directly in the MeHg response included pantothenate kinase 3, a kinase (PRKA) anchor protein (yotiao) 9, neurotrophic tyrosine kinase, receptor, type 2 gene, associated with NMDA receptor activity regulation or perturbations of central nervous system homeostasis. Also, when SH-SY5Y cells were subjected to a longer exposure (48h), a relative increase was noted in a gene, glutamine-fructose-6-phosphate transaminase 1, reported that overexpression of this gene may lead to the increased resistance to MeHg. To confirm the alteration of these genes in cultured neurons, we then applied real time-RT PCR with SYBR green. Thus, this result suggests that a neurotoxic effect of the MeHg might be ascribed that MeHg alters neuronal receptor regulation or homeostasis of neuronal cells in the early phase. However, in the late phase, it protects cells from neurotoxic effects of MeHg.

Fermentation and Quality of Kimchi Prepared wth Chiness Cabbages Harvested from Field and Hydroponic Cultivation

  • The potential of hydroponic cultivated Chinese cabbage as a kimchi material was evaluated. The hydroponic-grown (HG) Chinese cabbage was heavier in weight, taller in height, wider in width, but less in number of leaves compared with the field-grown (FG) Chinese cabbage. The former showed higher contents of calcium, iron, vitamin A and niacin, and lower lipid and vitamin C than the latter. During fermentation of 28 days at 1$0^{\circ}C$, FG and HG kimchis showed comparable pH and acidity values, besides that the FG and HG kimchis showed a pH value of 4.2 and 4.0, respectively, at the 14th day. The FG kimchi showed higher numbers of total microbes as well as total and typical lactic acid bacteria than the HG kimchi at the 7th day. However, both kimchis did not show any difference at 14th day. There was no significant difference in the {TEX}$L^{*}${/TEX} value between FG and HG kimchis. However, HG kimchi showed a more reddish hue than FE kimchi between the 7th and 14th day of fermentation. In sensory evaluation, the HG kimchi revealed a slightly more sour taste and a less crispy texture than the FE kimchi at the 14th day. However, both kimchis did not show any difference in overall quality until the 21st day of fermentation.

발아종자의 호흡작용에 미치는 Cd, Hg 및 Pb의 영향 (Effects of Cd, Hg and Pb on the Respiration of the Germinating Seeds)

  • The present study was carried out to investigate the effects of cadmium(Cd), mercury(Hg) and lead(Pb) on the respiration of the germinating seeds. Two kinds of seeds namely, mungbean (Paseolus radiatus L.) and buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum M ench) were used for the plant materials. The concentrations of Cd, Hg, and Pb applied for the treatment were 0.1, 1, 10, 100 and 1,000ppm. The germination test was carried out in the dark at 27$^{\circ}C$. Regardless of the kinds of heavy metals, the respiration of the germinating seeds was greatly increased for 24hrs absorbing the heavy metals, and subsequently the respiration was increased average 0.69mg/g.hr.CO2 for mungbean and 0.7mg/g.hr.CO2 for buckwheat. In the lower concentrations of cadmium and lead than 10ppm the germinating rates, seedling concentraitons. The germinating rates, the seedling growth and the respiration were not increased in ay concentrations of mercury, but were decreased with increase of the mercury concenration. The inhibition of seeds respiration by mercury was 3 times higher than by cadmium, and 5 times higher than that by lead. The toxicity of three heavy metals on the respiration was showed from the highest to the lowest in the order of Hg, Cd, and Pb.
