A robust controller to attenuate the various disturbances of tandem cold mills (TCM) is synthesized by measurement-feedback $H_{\infty}$ control techniques which can reflect the input direction of disturbances and the knowledge of entry thickness variation (disturbance) is synthesized by discrete-time measurement-feedback $H_{\infty}$ control theory. It is demonstrated that the $H_{\infty}$ preview control gain can be easily obtained by the seperation principle of the control and estimation problems in $H_{\infty}$ control. Finally the effectiveness of the proposed control method for TCM is evaluated by the computer simulation and compared to the other control methods which have been previously studied.

An optimal preview controller based on the discrete-time $H_{.inf}$ control is presented. The preview controller is synthesized by considering the bounded unknwon disturbances as well as previewable commands and disturbances. The controller derivation procedure is analogous to the LQ-based scheme. The designed preview gain matrix has a similar structure as the LQ-based one. As the infinity norm .gamma. of the transfer function matrix tends to .inf., the preview gains obtained by $H_{\infty}$ control method approach to the gains by the LQR. The LQ-based preview gains are verified to be subsets of the $H_{.inf}$ -based preview gains..

이산기간 H/sub .inf./ 제어에 의한 최적 예견제어기를 제안한다. 기존의 H/sub .inf./ 제어기는 미지의 외란만 고려한 것이고, LQ 에 의한 예견제어기는 예견 가능한 외란과 미지의 외란이 동시에 가해지는 동적 시스템의 전달함수 행렬의 infinity 놈의 최소화하는 피드백제어기가 동시에 설계된다. 제어기의 설계는 full-information H/sub .inf./ 제어 이론을 따르나, 그 유도 과정은 LQ 에 기초한 예견제어기와 유사하게 이루어진다. 설계된 H/sub .inf./ 예견 게인 행렬은 LQ 예견 게인 행렬과 유사한 구조를 갖는다. 전달함수 행렬의 infinity 놈이 .inf.로 갈수록 H/sub .inf./ 예견 게인 행렬은 LQ에 의한 것에 접근한다. LQ 예견 게인 행렬은 H/sub .inf./ 예견 게인 행렬의 부분 집합임이 입증한다.

The paper deals with the Kalman stochastic filtering problem for linear continuous-time systems with both instantaneous and time-delayed measurements. Different from the standard linear system, the system state is corrupted by multiplicative white noise, and the instantaneous measurement and the delayed measurement are also corrupted by multiplicative white noise. A new approach to the problem is presented by using projection formulation and reorganized innovation analysis. More importantly, the proposed approach in the paper can be applied to solve many complicated problems such as stochastic $H_{\infty}$ estimation, $H_{\infty}$ control stochastic system with preview and so on.
