산림유역 특성에 의한 붕괴 위험지역의 평가 및 예지 (Evaluation and Prediction of Failure Hazard Area by the Characteristics of Forest Watershed)

  • 산림유역 조건에 따른 붕괴 토사량을 측정하여 사면 붕괴가능성을 평가하고 붕괴위험 지역에 대한 예지기술(豫知技術)을 개발함으로서 산지사면에서 발생하는 각종 재해에 대한 피해를 최소화 할 수 있는 산림유역 관리에 대한 기술적 기초 자료를 제공하고자 연구하였다. 붕괴 위험지역을 평가한 결과 I급지(매우 위험지역)는 화성암지 역으로 침엽수림이며 임령은 20년생 이하, 토심은 30cm 이하, 토성은 사질식양토(SCL), 석력함량은 $31{\sim}40%$, 사면방위는 남${\sim}$$(S{\sim}E)$사면, 주하천길이는 $2,501{\sim}3,500m$, 총하천수는$26{\sim}30$개, 총하천길이는$5,501{\sim}10,000m$, 하천차수는 3차수, 일차하천수는 $11{\sim}15$개 또는 16개 이상, 사면경사는 $31^{\circ}$이상의 지역으로 평가되었고, II급지(위험지역)는 변성암지역으로 활엽수림이며 임령은 $21{\sim}24$년생, 토심은$31{\sim}40cm$, 토성은 미사질식양토(SiCL) 또는 사질식양토(SCL), 석력함량은 $11{\sim}20%$, 사면방위는 남${\sim}$$(S{\sim}W)$사면, 주하천길이는 $1,501{\sim}2,500m$, 총하천수는 $6{\sim}10$개, 총하천길이는 $3,501{\sim}5,500m$, 하천차수는 2차수, 일차하천수는 $6{\sim}10$개, 사면경사는 $31^{\circ}$이상의 지역으로 평가되었으며, III급지(비 위험지역)는 퇴적암지역으로 임상은 혼효림, 임령은 25년생 이상, 토심은 $41{\sim}50cm$, 토성은 미사질식양토(SiCL), 석 력함량은 10% 이하, 사면방위는북${\sim}$$(N{\sim}W)$사면, 주하천길이는 500m 이하, 총하천수는 5개 이하, 총하천길이는 1,000m 이하, 하천차수는 1차수, 일차하천수는 2개 이하, 사면경사는 $25^{\circ}$이하의 지역으로 평가되었다. 붕괴위험 예측치를 이용하여 붕괴위험지역을 예지한 결과 점수의 합계가 I급지는 4.8052점 이상이며 II급지는 4.8051점에서 2.5602점 사이에 해당하며 III급지는 2.5601점 이하의 지역으로 분석되었다.

한국판 아동용 예일-브라운 강박 척도 ; 신뢰도와 타당도 연구 (DEVELOPMENT OF KOREAN FORM OF CHILDREN'S YALE-BROWN OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE SCALE(CY-BOCS):A RELIABILITY AND VALIDITY STUDY)

  • 목 적:본 연구는 소아, 청소년의 강박 증상을 평가하기 위한 도구인 아동용 예일-브라운 강박척도 (Children's Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale:Y-BOCS)의 한국판을 제작하여 그 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하고자 시행되었다. 방 법:강박장애로 진단된 42명의 아동과 청소년들을 대상으로 CY-BOCS를 시행하였다. 평가자간 신뢰도를 측정하기 위하여 20명의 환자를 2명의 평가자가 동시에 면담하였다. 수렴타당도와 변별타당도의 검증을 위해 총괄적인 임상 인상척도-강박장애(Clinical Global Impression-Obsessive Compulsive Disorder:CGI-OCD), 아동용 Leyton 강박 척도(Leyton Obsessional Inventory-Child Version:LOI-CV), 소아우울척도(Child Depression Inventory:CDI), 소아 상태-특성 불안척도(State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children:STAI-C)를 시행하였다. 결 과:Cronbach's ${\alpha}$값으로 평가한 내적 일치도는 0.86으로 높게 나타났다. CY-BOCS 전체 점수, 강박사고, 강박행동 소척도 점수에 대한 군내 내적일치도는 각각 0.94, 0.94, 0.84로 우수한 평가자간 일치도를 보였다. CY-BOCS 전체 점수와 CGI-OCD 점수간의 상관관계는 매우 높게 나타났고(r=0.88), LOICV 총점과도 통계적으로 유의한 상관관계(r=0.51)가 관찰되었다. CY-BOCS 전체 점수와 STAI-C의 상태불안 점수간에는 상관관계가 나타나지 않았고(r=0.25), 특성불안 점수(r=0.43) 및 CDI 점수(r=0.49) 와는 유의한 상관관계를 나타냈다. 결 론:본 연구결과, 한국판 CY-BOCS의 높은 타당도 및 신뢰도가 입증되었으며, 향후 강박 증상의 객관적인 평가 및 정량화를 위해 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

Associations between Psychological Distress and Body Mass Index among Law Enforcement Officers: The National Health Interview Survey 2004-2010

  • Objectives: To investigate the association between psychological distress and obesity among law enforcement officers (LEOs) in the United States. Methods: Self-reported data on psychological distress based on six key questions were obtained from LEOs who participated in the National Health Interview Survey (2004-2010). We used Prochaska's cut-point of a Kessler 6 score ${\geq}5$ for moderate/high mental distress in our analysis. Mean levels of body mass index (BMI) were compared across three levels of psychological distress. Results: The average age of LEOs (n = 929) was 39.3 years; 25% were female. Overall, 8.1% of LEOs had moderate or high psychological distress; 37.5% were obese (BMI ${\geq}30$). Mean BMI increased with increasing psychological distress (no distress, BMI = $27.2kg/m^2$; mild distress, $27.6kg/m^2$; and moderate/high distress, $33.1kg/m^2$; p = 0.016) after adjustment for age, race, income, and education level among female officers only. Physical activity modified the association between psychological distress and BMI but only among male LEOs (interaction p = 0.002). Among male LEOs reporting low physical activity, psychological distress was positively associated with BMI ($30.3kg/m^2$ for no distress, 30.7 for mild distress, 31.8 for moderate/high distress; p = 0.179) after adjustment, but not significantly. This association was not significant among males reporting high physical activity. Conclusion: Mean BMI significantly increased as psychological distress increased among female LEOs. A longitudinal study design may reveal the directionality of this association as well as the potential role that physical activity might play in this association.

Effects of Keratinase on Performance, Nutrient Utilization, Intestinal Morphology, Intestinal Ecology and Inflammatory Response of Weaned Piglets Fed Diets with Different Levels of Crude Protein

  • Two experiments were conducted to investigate the in vitro ability of keratinase to hydrolyze soybean glycinin and ${\beta}$-conglycinin and to evaluate the in vivo effects of keratinase when included in corn-soybean diets with different levels of crude protein and fed to nursery pigs. In experiment 1, a saturated keratinase solution (1 ml) was added to two blank controls of either glycinin or ${\beta}$-conglycinin resulting in the hydrolysis of 94.74% glycinin and 88.89% ${\beta}$-conglycinin. In experiment 2, 190 pigs (8.3${\pm}$0.63 kg BW) were allotted to one of four treatments in a 2${\times}$2 factorial arrangement on the basis of body weight, and sex was balanced among the pens. The effects of crude protein (19 vs. 22%) and keratinase (0 vs. 0.05%) were studied. Each treatment was applied to six pens with seven (two pens) or eight pigs per pen. Pigs were fed the experimental diets for 21 d. Weight gain and feed conversion ratio were improved (p<0.05) with keratinase supplementation while feed intake was reduced (p<0.05). Keratinase supplementation increased (p<0.05) the apparent total tract digestibility of dry matter, energy, crude protein and phosphorus. Keratinase supplementation also increased n-butyric acid in the cecum and colon, lactobacilli and total anaerobe counts in the colon as well as the ratio of villus height to crypt depth in the ileum. Additionally, fecal score, ammonia nitrogen and branch chain volatile fatty acids in the colon, E. coli and total aerobe counts in the colon, crypt depth in the jejunum and ileum as well as serum interleukin-1 and interleukin-6 concentrations were also decreased (p<0.05) by keratinase supplementation. A reduction in dietary crude protein decreased (p<0.05) colon ammonia nitrogen concentration and cecal propionic acid and branch chain volatile fatty acid concentrations. In addition, cecal E. coli counts, colon total anaerobe counts, ileal crypt depth, and serum interleukin-1 and interleukin-6 concentrations were also decreased (p<0.05) with the reduction of dietary crude protein. With the exception of fecal scores, there were no significant interactions between crude protein and keratinase. This study provides evidence that dietary keratinase supplementation improved nursery pig performance by improving intestinal morphology and ecology, thus improving nutrient digestibility and alleviating the inflammatory response.

  • This is a survey on congenital posterolateral diaphragmatic hernia, conducted by the Korean Association of Pediatric Surgeons(KAPS). A registration form for each patient during the 5-year-period between 1998 and 2002 and a questionaire were sent to each member. Twenty-ninemembers in 22 institutions returned completed forms. The average number of patients per surgeon was 1.4 cases a year. The male to female ratio was 1.64: 1, and annual incidencewas 1/14,522 live births. In this review, factors influencing survival in congenital posterolateral diaphragmatic hernia were age at admission, birth weight, time of antenatal diagnosis, birth place, Apgar score, onset time of symptoms and signs, preoperative cardiopulmonary resuscitation, associated anomalies of themusculoskeletal system, central nervous system, or chromosomes, preoperative stabilization, levels of preoperative $FiO_2$, pH, and $AaDO_2$, perioperative complications, bilaterality of defect, size of the defect, and presence or absence of hernia sac.

이첨판 패쇄부전증에 이환된 개에서 NT-proBNP농도, 비만, 당 관련 인자 및 지방 관련인자간에 상관관계에 대한 연구 (Relationships between NT-proBNP and Obesity, Glucose and Lipid Profiles in Dogs with Chronic Mitral Valve Insufficiency)

  • 사람에 연구에 따르면 심부전 진단에 널리 사용되는 NT-proBNP농도는 비만, 비만 관련인자들과 밀접한 상관 관계가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 이러한 상관관계는 아직까지 수의분야에서는 입증된 바가 없다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 정도의 이첨판 패쇄부전증(CMVI)에 이환된 73마리 개 집단에서 NT-proBNP와 비만 및 비만 관련인자들간의 상호관계를 조사하였다. 절식시 혈당 농도, 지방관련 인자(i.e., total triglycerides [TG], total cholesterol [TC], high-density lipoprotein cholesterol [HDL-C], low-density lipoprotein cholesterol [LDL-C]), fructosamine, insulin 및 NT-proBNP 농도를 측정하였다. Insulin/glucose ratio 역시 계산하였다. NT-proBNP 농도는 CMVI에 의한 심부전의 정도에 따라 농도변화가 관찰되었으며, body condition scores (BCS), insulin 및 fructosamine 농도와도 관련이 있었다. 또한 본 연구를 통해 비만과 혈중 NT-proBNP농도 간에 상관관계 역시 확인되었다. 또한 NT-proBNP농도는 비만과 관련 있는 인자인 fructosamine과 insulin농도와도 관련이 있었다. 본 연구는 개에서 NT-proBNP농도와 비만 정도와 상관관계를 입증한 첫 보고이다.

고려 홍삼이 대뇌 백질 미세구조 및 인지기능에 미치는 효과 : 침입 오류를 중심으로 (Effects of Korean Red Ginseng on White Matter Microstructure and Cognitive Functions : A Focus on Intrusion Errors)

  • Objectives Although ginseng has been reported to protect neuronal cells and improve various cognitive functions, relationship between ginseng supplementation and response inhibition, one of the important cognitive domains has not been explored. In addition, effects of ginseng on in vivo human brain have not been investigated using the diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). The purpose of the current study is to investigate changes in intrusion errors and white matter microstructure after Korean Red Ginseng supplementation using standardized neuropsychological tests and DTI. Methods Fifty-one healthy participants were randomly allocated to the Korean Red Ginseng (n = 26) or placebo (n = 25) groups for 8 weeks. The California Verbal Learning Test was used to assess the number of intrusion errors. Intelligence quotient (IQ) was measured with the Korean Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. Depressive and anxiety symptoms were evaluated using Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale, and Hopkins Symptom Checklist-25. The fractional anisotropy (FA) was measured from the brain DTI data. Results After the 8-week intervention, Korean Red Ginseng supplementation significantly reduced intrusion errors after adjusting age, sex, IQ, and baseline score of the intrusion errors (p for interaction = 0.005). Change in FA values in the left anterior corona radiata was greater in the Korean Red Ginseng group compared to the placebo group (t = 4.29, p = 0.04). Conclusions Korean Red Ginseng supplementation may be efficacious for improving response inhibition and white matter microstructure integrity in the prefrontal cortex.

폐경 여성의 근감소증 및 근감소성비만과 심혈관질환 위험도와의 관련성 연구: 국민건강영양조사(2008-2011) 자료를 활용하여 (Sarcopenia and Sarcopenic Obesity and Their Association with Cardiovascular Disease Risk in Postmenopausal Women : Results for the 2008-2011 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate the association between sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity and cardiovascular disease risk in Korean postmenopausal women. Methods: We analyzed data of 2,019 postmenopausal women aged 50-64 years who participated in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2008-2011 and were free of cardiovascular disease history. Blood pressure, height, and weight were measured. We analyzed the serum concentrations of glucose, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Waist circumference was used to measure obesity. Appendicular skeletal muscle mass was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Sarcopenia was defined as the appendicular skeletal muscle mass/body weight<1 standard deviation below the gender-specific means for healthy young adults. The estimated 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease risk was calculated by Pooled Cohort Equation. Subjects were classified as non-sarcopenia, sarcopenia, or sarcopenic obesity based on status of waist circumference and appendicular skeletal muscle mass. Results: The prevalence of sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity was 16.3% (n=317) and 18.3% (n=369), respectively. The 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease risk in the sarcopenic obesity group was higher ($3.82{\pm}0.22%$) than the normal group ($2.73{\pm}0.09%$) and sarcopenia group ($3.17{\pm}0.22%$) (p < 0.000). The odd ratios (ORs) for the ${\geq}7.5%$ 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease risk were significantly higher in the sarcopenic obesity group (OR 3.609, 95% CI: 2.030-6.417) compared to the sarcopenia group (OR 2.799, 95% CI: 1.463-5.352) (p for trend < 0.000) after adjusting for independent variables (i.e., exercise, period of menopausal, alcohol use disorders identification test (AUDIT) score, income, education level, calorie intake, %fat intake and hormonal replacement therapy). Conclusions: Sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity appear to be associated with higher risk factors predicting the 10-year risks of cardiovascular disease risk in postmenopausal women. These findings imply that maintaining normal weight and muscle mass may be important for cardiovascular disease risk prevention in postmenopausal women.

Adjuvant 유발(誘發) 류마티스 관절염(關節炎)에 대한 소활락단(小活絡丹)의 억제(抑制) 효과(效果) (Suppressing Effects of Sowhalrack-dan(Xiǎohuóluò-dān) on Freund's Complete Adjuvant Induced Arthritic Rats)

  • Objectives : The object of this study is to observe the favorable anti arthritic effects of Sowhalrack-dan($Xi\check{a}ohu\acute{o}lu\grave{o}-d\bar{a}n$)(SWRD), which has been traditionally used in Korean medicine to treat rheumatoid arthritis on Freund's complete adjuvant(FCA) induced arthritic Wistar rats. Methods : Rheumatoid arthritis was induced by intradermal injection of FCA(10 mg in 1 ml paraffin oil 0.1 ml/rats). Each of 8 rats showing regular ankle circumferences per group were selected in 14 days after FCA treatment to confirm the induction of rheumatoid arthritis. 300, 150 or 75 mg/kg of SWRD was orally administered once a day for 14 days from 14 days after FCA treatments. Dexamethasone was intraperitoneally administered 15 mg/kg, once a day for 14 days from 14 days after FCA treatments. Rats were sacrificed after 14 days of continuous oral treatment of SWRD or intraperitoneal administration of dexamethasone, and changes were observed; the body weight, knee circumferences, gross arthritis score, inflammatory tissue $prostaglandin(PG)E_2$ levels and cartilage collagen, glucosaminoglycans compositions - chondroitin sulphate, heparin sulphate and hyaluronic acid in the present study. Results : As results of FCA treatment, classic rheumatoid arthritis featuring dramatical decreases on the body weights, cartilage collagen contents and bone glucosaminoglycans - chondroitin sulphate, heparin sulphate and hyaluronic acid contents. Also, it increases the knee circumferences, gross arthritis scores and inflammatory tissue $PGE_2$ levels. However, these changes from FCA induced rheumatoid arthritis were clearly reduced due to the dexamethasone and both two different dosages of SWRD, 300 and 150 mg/kg in the present study. Although FCA induced arthritis were more favorably inhibited by treatment of dexamethasone 15 mg/kg compared to SWRD 300 mg/kg, marked decreases of body weights were detected in dexamethasone 15 mg/kg treated rats. Conclusions : The results obtained in this study suggest that over 150 mg/kg of SWRD showed favorable anti-arthritic effects on the FCA induced arthritis mediated by suppression of $PGE_2$. However, detailed mechanism studies are needed with the screening of the biological active compounds in SWRD. Although FCA induced arthritis were more favorably inhibited by treatment of dexamethasone 15 mg/kg compared to SWRD 300 mg/kg, marked decreases of body weights were detected in dexamethasone 15 mg/kg treated rats, in the present study.

Therapeutic Benefits of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in a Rat Model of Hemoglobin-Induced Hypertensive Intracerebral Hemorrhage

  • Previous studies have shown that bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) transplantation significantly improves the recovery of neurological function in a rat model of intracerebral hemorrhage. Potential repair mechanisms involve anti-inflammation, anti-apoptosis and angiogenesis. However, few studies have focused on the effects of MSCs on inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression and subsequent peroxynitrite formation after hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH). In this study, MSCs were transplanted intracerebrally into rats 6 hours after HICH. The modified neurological severity score and the modified limb placing test were used to measure behavioral outcomes. Blood-brain barrier disruption and neuronal loss were measured by zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) and neuronal nucleus (NeuN) expression, respectively. Concomitant edema formation was evaluated by H&E staining and brain water content. The effect of MSCs treatment on neuroinflammation was analyzed by immunohistochemical analysis or polymerase chain reaction of CD68, Iba1, iNOS expression and subsequent peroxynitrite formation, and by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay of pro-inflammatory factors (IL-$1{\beta}$ and TNF-${\alpha}$). The MSCs-treated HICH group showed better performance on behavioral scores and lower brain water content compared to controls. Moreover, the MSC injection increased NeuN and ZO-1 expression measured by immunochemistry/immunofluorescence. Furthermore, MSCs reduced not only levels of CD68, Iba1 and pro-inflammatory factors, but it also inhibited iNOS expression and peroxynitrite formation in perihematomal regions. The results suggest that intracerebral administration of MSCs accelerates neurological function recovery in HICH rats. This may result from the ability of MSCs to suppress inflammation, at least in part, by inhibiting iNOS expression and subsequent peroxynitrite formation.
