  • As the increasing integrity of VLSI, the BIST(Built-In Self Test) is used as an effective method to test chips. Generally the pseudo-random test pattern generation is used for BIST. But it requires too many test patterns when there exist random resistant faults. Therefore we propose a mixed test scheme which applies to the circuit under test, a deterministic test sequence followed by a pseudo-random one. This scheme allows the maximum fault coverage detection to be achieved, furthermore the silicon area overhead of the mixed hardware generator can be reduced.

  • The application of ozone solid polymer electrolyte or Membrel water electrolysis cells with $PbO_2$ anodes for anodic generation of ozone in electrolyte-free water is reported. Maximum yields were obtained at a temperature of $25^{\circ}C-30^{\circ}C$ and current density of about 1A/$cm^2$.   • This paper proposes a new PWM method to reduce the common mode voltage change in three-level Vienna rectifier. This new proposed PWM method uses medium voltage vector for the three-level Vienna rectifier to determine the sum of three-phase voltage zero, and the common mode voltage variation is decreased. Using the carrier comparison method, the switching function generator for three-level Vienna rectifier has been proposed. The effects of the proposed PWM method have been verified through simulation using the PSIM.

  • This paper presents a design of a LLC resonant controller IC. LLC resonant controller IC controls the voltage of the 2nd side by adjusting frequency the input frequency of the external resonant circuit. The clock generator is integrated to provide the pulse to the resonant circuit and its frequency is controlled by the external resistor. Also, the frequency of the VCO is adjusted by the feedback voltage. The protection circuits such as UVLO(Under Voltage Lock Out), brown out, fault detector are implemented for the reliable and stable operation. The HVG, and LVG drivers can provide the high current and voltage to the IGBT. The designed LLC resonant controller IC is fabricated with the 0.35 um 2P3M BCD process. The overall die size is $1400um{\times}1450um$, and supply voltage is 5V, 15V.

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the thermal durability characteristics of the Pt catalyst and additives used in a catalytic combustor. The catalyst used in the experiment was based on Pt (3 wt%), and a total of 12 types were prepared using a combination of additives (Ni, La, Ce, Fe, and Co). From the results, In the fresh state, the two types of combination catalysts with the highest C3H8 conversion were Pt_Ce (79.9%) at 500℃, and in the three types of combination catalysts, Pt_La_Ni (93.4%) at 500℃ had the best performance. Among aged catalysts at 850℃ and 8 hours, Pt-La-Ni and Pt-Ni-Ce catalysts showed the highest C3H8 conversion of about 71% at 500℃.

  • The effect of micro scale turbulence on flame structure and stability were experimentally investigated by changing the area of micro turbulence generator(MTG) and air velocity in terms of low NOx and high efficiency combustion. NOx and CO concentration were also measured for different MTG areas to investigate whether a vane swirler having MTG has a possibility of using as part for low NOx combustor. From the obtained results, it is shown that flame stability region increases and flame size becomes small as MTG area increases since MTG in itself makes small scale recirculation flow and swirler does large scale recirculation one. It is also shown that low NOx concentration(about 20${\sim}$30ppm@$O_2$ 11%) is achieved for all MTG areas without any increase in CO concentration regardless of air velocity range tested in this study when the equivalence ratio is 0.7. The results obtained in this study can give basic guideline for the design of compact low NOx high efficiency combustor using a vane swirler having MTG.

Frequency Spectrum Analysis of Electromagnetic Waves Radiated by Electric Discharges

  • In this paper, we analyzed the frequency spectrum of the electromagnetic waves radiated by an electric discharge as a basic study to develop an on-line diagnostic technique for power equipment installed inside closed-switchboards. In order to simulate local and series arc discharges caused by an electric field concentration and poor connections, three types of electrode systems were fabricated, consisting of needle and plane electrodes and an arc generator meeting the specifications of UL 1699. The experiment was carried out in an electromagnetic anechoic chamber, and the measurement system consisted of a PD free transformer, a loop antenna with a frequency bandwidth of 150 kHz-30 MHz, an ultra log periodic antenna with a frequency bandwidth of 30 MHz-2 GHz, and an EMI test receiver with a frequency bandwidth of 3 Hz-3 GHz. According to the experimental results, the frequency spectra of the electrical discharges were widely distributed across a range of 150 kHz-400 MHz, depending on the defects, while commonly found between 150 kHz and 10 MHz. Therefore, considering the ambient noise and antenna characteristics, the best frequency bandwidth for a measurement system to monitor abnormal conditions by detecting electromagnetic waves in closedswitchboards is 150 kHz-10 MHz.

Development of DAP(Dose Area Product) for Radiation Evaluation of Medical and Industrial X-ray generator (의료 및 산업용 X-선 발생장치의 선량평가를 위한 면적선량계(DAP) 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose an DAP system for dose evaluation of medical and industrial X-ray generator. Based on the DAP measurement technique using the Ion-Chamber, the proposed system can clearly measure the exposure radiation dose generated by the diagnostic X-ray apparatus. The hardware part of the DAP measures the amount of charge in the air that is captured by an X-ray. The high-speed processing algorithm part for cumulative radiation dose measurement through microcurrent measures the amount of charge captured by X-ray at a low implementation cost (power) with no input loss. The wired/wireless transmission/reception protocol part synchronized with the operation of the X-ray generator improves communication speed. The PC-based control program part for interlocking and aging measures the amount of X-ray generated in real time and enables measurement graphs and numerical value monitoring through PC GUI. As a result of evaluating the performance of the proposed system in an accredited testing laboratory, the measured values using DAP increased linearly in each energy band (30, 60, 100, 150 kV). In addition, since the standard deviation of the measured value at the point of 4 division was ${\pm}1.25%$, it was confirmed that the DAP showed uniform measurements regardless of location. It was confirmed that the normal operation was not less than ${\pm}4.2%$ of the international standard.

  • The common rail diesel engine used in this study is a remanufactured waste engine. The fuel injection timing of the waste engine is set to be suitable for the operating conditions of the vehicle. However, the engine of a generator is operated at a constant speed and mainly at partial load. Therefore, it is necessary to change the fuel injection timing suitable for the power generation engine, and the cost and the time required for such change must be minimized as much as possible. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the fuel efficiency improves according to the fuel injection timing suitable for the engine for the generator, thereby increasing the performance and fuel efficiency.

  • This paper presents a design of the control block of a passive UHF RFID tag IC according to EPCglobal Class-1 Generation-2 UHF RFID 1.1.0 Protocol. The control block includes a PIE block, CRC5/CRC16, a Slot Counter, a Random Number Generator, a Main Control Block, a Encoder and a Memory Interface. The control block has been designed using the Verilog HDL and has been simulated. Functional simulation results for the overall control block operation show that 11 instructions with 7 states are operated correctly. Also, the control block has been implemented with 36,230 gates by Synopsys Design Compiler and Apollo using Magnachip 0.25$\mu$m technology.
