  • Corrosion of the rebar is one of the main factors affecting the durability of reinforced concrete in the world which lead to the failure of the reinforced concrete structures. In this research, a new method of fixing $CO_2$ is practiced to improve the carbonation resistance of the concrete. Brucite($Mg(OH)_2$), a kind of common $CO_2$ fixation materials, was added into ordinary Portland cement paste. Samples containing 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% $Mg(OH)_2$ were exposed to an accelerated carbonation curing regime with 20% concentration of $CO_2$, 60% relative humidity, and a temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ until tested at 3d, 7d, 14d and 28d. After 28d of $CO_2$ accelerated curing, in the paste containing $Mg(OH)_2$, magnesian calcite was detected by SEM-EDX. Meanwhile, the paste containing $Mg(OH)_2$ exhibit the better pore distribution than ordinary Portland cement paste and the compressive strength of the cement paste containing $Mg(OH)_2$ were more than 50Mpa.

  • Usually, carbonation of concrete causes pH reduction and corrosion of steel, it leads to decrease of durability. However, CaCO3, as results of reaction with hydrates products and CO2, can contribute to improvement of compressive strength. Based on this theory, using carbonation depth, the researches about CO2 absorption of plain concrete and concrete containing CO2 reactive materials has been performed. But, the researches has limitation about using one material, therefore, for this study, considering various CO2 reactive materials, experiment has been proceeded. With water to binder ratio 50%, after initial curing for 2days, accelerated carbonation was performed for 28days, and carbonation depth and compressive strength were measured. As results of carbonation depth, specimen containing desulfurized slag, zeolite showed the highest CO2 absorption, in case of compressive strength, specimens with MgO were indicated as highest compressive strength.

  • In this study, the mechanical and micro-structural change of cement pastes incorporating Stainless-Steel Slag Argon Oxygen Decarburization Slag (STS-A) containing ${\gamma}-C_2S$ as a carbon capture materials were investigated with carbonation curing condition. ${\gamma}-C_2S$ is non-hydraulic, therefore does not react with water. But ${\gamma}-C_2S$ has a reactivity under carbonation curing condition with water. The reaction products fill up the pore in pastes. The microstructure of STS-A blended cement pastes could be densified by this reaction. The pore structure of cement pastes incorporating STS-A was measured using mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) after carbonation curing ($CO_2$ concentration is about 5%). Also the fractal characteristics were investigated for the effect of carbonation curing on the micro-structural change of paste specimens. From the results, the compressive strength of carbonated specimens incorporating STS-A increased and pore-structure of carbonated paste is more complicated.

  • Nowadays, Precast Concrete is adopted on most of construction, because of shortening construction period and good quality. In precast concrete, steam curing is necessary for getting proper strength, but it causes much CO2 and economc. Therefore, on this study, by using type III cement and hardening accelerator, early compressive strength was shown 13MPa for 6hr. From the result, removal form could be shorten. Furthermore, annual CO2 was reduced as much as 24% and also annual cost was decreased as much as 12%.

  • 𝛾-dicalcium silicate (𝛾-C2S) is characterized by its strong carbonation reactivity and has the prospect to be utilized as a building material with the added benefit of CO2 capture. This paper aims to point out the impact of 𝛾-C2S on the microstructure characteristics and mechanical properties of GGBFS paste, and mortar samples. The compressive strength of 𝛾-C2S added GGBFS cement mortar is higher compared to without 𝛾-C2S in accelerated carbonation (AC) up to 14 days of curing but once the curing duration is increased, there is no significant improvement in compressive strength. This study suggests that 𝛾-C2S can capture the atmospheric CO2 (mostly generated from cement and metallurgy industries) and utilized in construction.

  • Currently, CO2 existed in the air usually reacts concrete, and then CaCO3 can be appeared. As time goes by, pH of concrete is decreased and corrosion of steel can be happened. This phenomenon is called carbonation. For preventing carbonation of concrete, various methods like using corrosion inhibitor, high compressive strength concrete, and enough covering depth are adopted. But these method are usually passive methods focused on corrosion of steel and have limitation on economic. Thus, as basic study for active method of carbonation, cement pastes with CO2 reactive material (γ-C2S, MgO) and GBFS were in accelerated carbonation, and the compressive strengths were measured. On the result, the compressive strength was improved better than non-carbonation. Through measuring the weight change using TG-DTA, as specimens were carbonated, according to decreasing of Ca(OH)2 and Mg(OH)2, CaCO3 and MgCO3 were increased. Therefore it can be shown that carbonation curing can be realized.

  • The bulk curing experiment to the improve the quality of flue-cured leaves were carried out to evaluate relationship between cyclic curing and conventional curing method. We studied the effect of the cyclic change of wet bulb temperature at the yellowing stage of flue curing on chemical properties of cured leaves. The wet bulb temperature was automatically controlled between preset high($38^{\circ}C$) and low point ($35^{\circ}C$) everyone hour cyclically during 12 hours after starting luring. As a result, the acceleration of the increase in the chemical properties of cured leaves were observed. As to the chemical properties, there was decreased in citric acid, increased in malic acid of the nonvolatile organic acids and all higher fatty acids content of leaves cured by this method compared with in that of conventional curing method, while a major chemical compounds in relation to aromatic essence of cigarette smoke in essential oil components of lured leaves was mostly higher in this method than those of conventional ones, and it was evaluated that there was decreased in CO, TPM, Tar, and $CO_2$ content of the cigarette smoke comparing to the conventional luring method.

  • In this study, photo-cuarable urethane methacrylate oligomers were synthesized from polyether type polyol (PP series, GP series), isocyanate (2,4-toluene diisocyanate) and hydroxy acrylate (hydroxypropyl methacrylate). We measured basic property including color, viscosity and refractive index of resulting urethane methacrylate. Also we measured tensile strength, elongation, and Young's modulus after photo curing. Photo curing speed was investigated using photo-DSC (TA instrument). In the case of similar polyol structure, as the molecular weight of polyol is increased, tensile strength, Young's modulus, curing rate were decreased, but elongation was increased. As the number of functionality of urethane methacrylate oligomer is increased, tensile strength, Young's modulus, curing rate were increased, but elongation was decreased.

  • This study describes the influence of the amount of curing agent and curing temperature on the kinetics of polyurethane elastomers. The urethane prepolymer series was prepared by reacting toluene diisocyanate with polytetramethylene ether glycol at $80^{\circ}C$ for 1 h, and 4,4'-methylene bis(2-chloroaniline) was used as the curing agent. The ratio of the amine group of the curing agent to the isocyanate group of the urethane prepolymer was controlled from 0.85 to 1.05 at curing temperatures ranging from 80 to $120^{\circ}C$. The curing rate of the urethane prepolymer was monitored by observing the change in heat flow during the curing process using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). As either the content of curing agent or the curing temperature was higher, the conversion rate to the polyurethane elastomer was high. The DSC results were compared with those obtained from using real-time FT-IR.
