혼합전도성 $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$ 분리막의 산소투과 특성 (Oxygen Permeation Properties of $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$ Mixed-conducting Membrane)

  • 고상 반응법으로 제조된 $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$ 분리막의 소결거동을 살펴보고, 분리막 양면에 산소농도의 차이를 부여하여 산소투과량을 측정하였다. 최적 소결조건에서 제조된 상대밀도 98%의 치밀한 분리막 자체의 산소공공을 통한 혼합전도에 기인해 750$^{\circ}$C∼950$^{\circ}$C의 온도구간에서 산소가 투과되었으며, 850$^{\circ}$C에서 약 0.1ml/$cm^2{\cdot}$min의 투과량을 나타내었다. 안정한 산소 투과량에 도달하기 위해서는 산소투입 후 일정한 시간이 요구되었고, 이러한 산소투과량은 산소부분압의 조절로 제어가 가능하였다.

  • In order to establish fundamental data for stream restoration and environmental flow, we investigated inhabitation and species diversity of fish to substrate size in the typical streams of Geum River Basin. Field monitoring including fish sampling was conducted from October 2007 to October 2009. Substrate size was determined according to six different : silt (Si), sand (Sa), fine gravel (Fg), coarse gravel (Cg), cobbles (Co) and boulders (Bo). A total number of fish caught in the 18 sites was 7,649 representing 10 families 50 species, and Si, Sa, Fg, Cg, Co and Bo stations occupied 30, 29, 38, 30, 27 and 17 species, respectively. The most frequently found species in number was pale chum (Zacco platypus, 29.7%, n=2,275) followed by Z. koreanus (22.5%, n=1,720) in total stations. Biological diversity with increase of substrate size from the dominance of part species showed higher values as dominance index, lower and diversity, richness and evenness index. Index of biological integrity (IBI) and qualitative habitat evaluation index (QHEI) scores decreased with increase of substrate size. Therefore, it is necessary to make an effort on stream rehabilitation with evaluation of physical habitat condition by indicator species in order to maintain biodiversity and perform ecological restoration.

Synthesis and Characterization of Transition Metal Complexes with Benzimidazolyl-2-hydrazones of o-anisaldehyde and Furfural

  • A series of complexes of the type [$ML_2Cl_2$], where L=2-(o-anisylidene-2'-imino) amino benzimidazole (AIAB) and 2-(furfurylidene imino) amino benzimidazole (FIAB), M=Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II), have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, thermal analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic moment, electronic, infrared, $^1H$-NMR spectral studies. The results are in consistent with bidentate chelation of ligand with azomethine nitrogen and ring nitrogen donors. All these Schiff bases and their complexes have also been screened for their antibacterial (Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus stearothermophilus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi) and antifungal activities (Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus).

  • A series of homo binuclear complexs of the type $[M_2(L/L^')(NO_3)n].mH_2O$, [where $M=U{O_2}^{2+},\;Th^{4+},\;ZrO^{2+}$] and $[(VO)_2(L/L^')(SO_4)_2]{\cdot}2H_2O$, L=1,5,6,9,12,15,16,20 octaaza-7,813,14-tetraphenyl-2,4,17,19-tetramethyl-1,4,6,8,12,14,16,19-docosaoctene (OTTDO) or L'=10:11;21:22-dibenzo-1,5,6,9,12,15,16,20-octaaza-7,813,14-tetraphenyl-2,4,17,19-tetramethyl-1,4,6,8,12,14,16,19-docosaoctene (DOTTOT), n=4 for $U{O_2}^{2+}$, $ZrO^{2+}$ n=8 for $Th^{4+}$ m=1,2,3 respectively, have been synthesized in template method from ethylenediamine/orthophenylene diamine, benzil monohydrazone and acetyl acetone and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, thermal analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic moment, electronic, infrared, $^1H$-NMR studies. The results indicate that the VO(IV) ion is penta co-ordinated yielding paramagnetic complexes; $UO_2(VI)$, ZrO(IV) ions are hexa co-ordinated where as Th(IV) ion is octa co-ordinated yielding diamagnetic complexes of above composition. The fungi toxicity of the ZrO(IV) and VO(IV) complexes against some fungal pathogen has been studied.

도로변 우수관 퇴적물의 중금속오염 (I) : 서울시 동부지역 (The heavy metal contaminations of sediments from some gully-pots : eastern part of seoul, Korea)

  • 중금속오염 정도를 조사하기 위해, 서울시 동부의 13개 구에서 280개 우수관퇴적물을 채취하였다. 오염되지 않은 하천 표사시료도 비교하기 위해 연구되었다. 퇴적물의 물리화학적 특성과 Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, 및 Zn 분포에 관한 연구가 수행되었다. 우수관퇴적물과 오염되지 않은 표사시료의 총 중금속 함량은 산분해방법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 먼저 질산으로 분해한 뒤, 다시 질산과 과염소산의 혼합산으로 산분해하였다. 우수관퇴적물은 특징적으로 Zn, Cu, Pb및 Cr함량이 매우 높았으며, 이는 우수관퇴적물이 이들 원소에 의해 인위적으로 오염된 것을 지시하고 있다. 우수관퇴적물에 포함된 중금속 함량은 오염되지 않은 하천 표사시료의 평균 중금속 함량에 비해 원소에 따라 약 1-329배 높게 나타났다. 특히, 가장 높은 Zn, Cu, Pb 및 Cr평균값을 나타낸 지역은 각각 여의도, 중구, 중구 및 동대문구에서 채취한 우수관퇴적물이었다. 비즈니스 지역과 상업지역에서의 평균 Zn 함량은 산업공단지역의 Zn 함량보다 2-305배 높다. 이것은 Zn이 주로 자동차 교통량(자동차 타이어)에서 기인된 것을 지시한다. 평균 Cu와 Cr의 함량은 상업지역과 산업공단지역에서 높게 나타났으며, 이는 산업활동이 우수관퇴적물에 Cu와 Cr 축적을 야기시키고 있다는 것을 지시하고 있다. 우수관퇴적물의 Pb 함량은 비교적 낮았으며, 이는 1987년 이후 무연휘발유를 사용하는 것에 기인하였다.

Cocoon Yield Pattern and Analysis of Water, Soil and Leaves from Mulberry Gardens Irrigated with Polluted Water Around Bangalore, India

  • Sericulturists in the vicinity of Bangalore city irrigate their mulberry gardens with Vrishabhavathy stream water, which is polluted with domestic and industrial wastes from the city. To investigate the effect of pollutants on silkworm crops, a detailed field survey was conducted to study the cocoon yield pattern of the crops raised on mulberry irrigated with wastewater as against irrigation by bore/open wells. The villages along the stream were grouped into five test batches at about a distance of $5{\sim}8$ km from each other. The seasonal yield data with relevant information were collected through questionnaires from 117 rearers using stream water and 35 rearers using bore/open wells, the latter serving as control group. The average yield for 100 layings was 46 to 57 kg in the control group whereas in test groups, it ranged between 34 to 51 kg in the first test group and 22 to 38 kg in the rest. The difference in yield was $9{\sim}19$ kg depending on the season between control and test batches. In summer, this difference was higher, with high co-efficient of variation in test groups ($33{\sim}52$%). Further, water, soil and leaf samples were collected from selected rearers and were analyzed for zinc, copper, iron, lead and nickel. Results indicated significantly higher contents of these metals in samples from gardens using wastewater when compared control samples. Significantly (p<0.05 & p<0.01)) higher levels of zinc ($24{\sim}122$ ppm) and iron ($208{\sim}683$ ppm) were noticed in mulberry leaves during summer followed by winter and rainy season. The significance of high content of heavy metals in mulberry leaves and cocoon yield pattern of this area in relation to the quality of irrigation water is discussed.

WGS 반응에서 Pt-Na/Ce(1-x)Zr(x)O2 촉매의 구조에 따른 Na 영향에 대한 연구 (A Study on Na effect of Pt-Na/Ce(1-x)Zr(x)O2 Catalyst Structure for WGS Reaction)

  • The interest in water gas shift (WGS) reaction has grown significantly, as a result of the recent advances in fuel cell technology and the need to develop small-scale fuel processors. Recently, researchers have tried to overcome the disadvantages of the commercial WGS catalysts. As a consequence, supported Pt catalysts have attracted a lot of researchers due to high activity and stability for WGS at low temperatures. In this study, $Pt-Na/Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ catalysts with various Ce/Zr ratio have been applied to WGS at a gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of $45,515h^{-1}$. According to TPR patterns of $Pt-Na/Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ catalysts, the reducibility increases with decreasing the $ZrO_2$ content. As a result, Cubic structure $Pt-Na/Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ catalysts exhibited higher CO conversion than tetragonal structure $Pt-Na/Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ catalysts. Expecially, Pt-Na/$CeO_2$ exhibited the highest CO conversion as well as 100% selectivity to $CO_2$. Moreover, Pt-Na/$CeO_2$ catalyst showed relatively stable activity with time on stream. The high activity of cubic structure Pt-Na/$CeO_2$ catalyst was correlated to its higher oxygen storage capacity (OSC) of $CeO_2$ and easier reducibility of Pt/$CeO_2$.

Application of upflow multi-layer bioreactor (UMBR) for domestic wastewater treatment in HCMC

  • Up-flow multi-layer bioreactor (UMBR) is a hybrid system using dual sludge that consists of an up-flow multi-layer bioreactor as anaerobic/anoxic suspended growth microorganisms followed by an aeration tank. The UMBR acts as a primary settling tank, anaerobic/anoxic reactor, thickener which requires low energy due to mixing by up-flow stream. This study focused on using a pilot UMBR plant with capacity of 20-30 $m^3$/day for domestic wastewater in HCMC. HRTs of UMBR and aeration tank were 4.8 h and 7.2 h, respectively. The average MLSS of UMBR ranged from 10,000-13,600 mg/l SS. Internal recycle rate and sludge return were 200-300% and 150-200%, respectively. The results obtained from this study at flow rate of 20 $m^3$/day showed that removal of COD, SS, TKN, N-$NH_4$, T-N, and color were 91%, 87%, 86%, 80%, 91% and 91%, respectively.

순환 유동층 보일러와 초초임계 증기 사이클을 이용한 500 MWe급 순산소 화력발전소의 건식 재순환 흐름의 열 교환 및 경제성 분석 (Heat Integration and Economic Analysis of Dry Flue Gas Recirculation in a 500 MWe Oxy-coal Circulating Fluidized-bed (CFB) Power Plant with Ultra-supercritical Steam Cycle)

  • 본 연구에서는 CO2 포집을 포함하는 500 MWe 급 전기를 생산하는 순산소 석탄화력발전소에 대한 공정흐름도를 제시하였고, 기술경제성 평가를 수행하였다. 이 석탄화력발전소는 순환 유동층 보일러(CFB), 초초 임계 증기 사이클 증기 터빈, 보일러에서 배출되는 배기가스내 수분과 오염물질을 제거하는 배기가스 정제 장치(FGC), 산소 분리 초저온 공정(ASU), 이산화탄소를 분리하는 극저온 공정(CPU)을 포함한다. 건식 배기가스 재순환(FGR)은 CFB연소기내 온도 제어와 고농도 CO2 배출을 위하여 사용되었다. 이 순산소 석탄화력발전소의 열효율을 증가시키기 위하여 FGR 흐름에 대한 열교환, ASU에서 배출되는 질소 흐름에 대한 열교환, 그리고 CPU 내 기체 압축기의 열 회수를 고려하였다. FGR열교환기의 온도차(ΔT)의 감소는 배기가스의 더 많은 폐열 회수를 의미하며, 전기 및 엑서지 효율을 증가시켰다. FGR열교환기의 ΔT가 10 ℃ 에서 FGR과 FGC 주변의 연간 비용이 최소가 되었다. 이때, 전기 효율은 39%, 총투자비는 1371 M$, 총생산비용은 90 M$, 그리고 투자수익률은 7%/y, 그리고 투자회수기간은 12년으로 예측되었다. 본 연구를 통하여 순산소 석탄화력발전소의 열효율 향상을 위한 열교환망이 제시되었고, FGR 열교환기의 최적 운전 조건이 도출되었다.

Preconcentration of Iron(III), Lead(II), Cobalt(II) and Chromium(III) on Amberlite XAD-1180 Resin Loaded with 4-(2-Pyridylazo)-resorcinol (PAR) and Their Determination by FAAS

  • In this study, a solid phase extraction method has been developed for the preconcentration and separation of the elements Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II) and Pb(II) at trace levels by using a column packed with Amberlite XAD-1180 resin loaded with 4-(2-pyridylazo)-resorcinol (PAR) reagent. After preconcentrating, the metals retained on the column were eluted with 20 mL of 3 mol/L $HNO_3$ and then determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The factors affecting the recovery of the elements, such as pH, type and concentration of eluent, volume of sample and elution solution, and matrix components, were also ascertained. The recoveries of Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II) and Pb(II) were found to be $99\;{\pm}\;4,\;97\;{\pm}\;3,\;95\;{\pm}\;3$ and $98\;{\pm}\;4$%, respectively, under the optimum conditions at 95% confidence level and the relative standard deviations found by analyzing of nine replicates were $\leq4.4$%. The preconcentration factors for Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II) and Pb(II) were found as 75, 125, 50 and 75 respectively. The detection limits (DL, 3s/b) were 3.0 $\mu g/L$ for Cr(III), 1.25 $\mu g/L$ for Fe(III), 3.3 $\mu g/L$ for Co(II), and 7.2 $\mu g/L$ for Pb(II). The recoveries achieved by adding of metals at known concentrations to samples and the analysis results of Buffalo river sediment (RM 8704) show that the described method has a good accuracy. The proposed method was applied to tap water, stream water, salt and street dust samples.
