Several materials are used to design the sorbents applied in a fast-fluidized bed process for post-combustion $CO_2$ capture. In this study, $K_2CO_3$-based dry sorbent (KMC) was prepared by using Micro-cell C (MCC), one of the materials used to design the sorbent, and then its $CO_2$ sorption and regeneration properties were evaluated. KMC sorbent showed a low $CO_2$ capture capacity of 21.6 mg $CO_2/g$ sorbent, which is about 22% of the theoretical value (95.4 mg $CO_2/g$ sorbent) even at 1 cycle, and showed a low $CO_2$ capture capacity of 13.7 mg $CO_2/g$ sorbent at 5 cycles. It was confirmed that the KMC sorbent was deactivated due to the formation of a $K_2Ca$$(CO_3)_2$ phase, resulting from the reaction of the $K_2CO_3$ with the Ca component contained in the MCC. In order to solve the deactivation of sorbent, and KM8 sorbent was prepared by adding the process of calcining the MCC at $850^{\circ}C$. The KM8 sorbent showed a high $CO_2$ capture capacity of 95.2 mg $CO_2/g$ sorbent and excellent regeneration property. Thus, it was confirmed that the deactivation of the sorbent could be solved by adding the calcining step to remove the side reaction causing material.

This paper presents an easy way to prepare carbon dioxide sorbent by using commercially available fumed silica particles (AEROSIL). AEROSIL was impregnated with various concentration of polyethyleneimine (PEI) in methanol and $CO_2$ capture ability was analyzed by thermo gravity analysis (TGA). The $CO_2$ adsorption capacity of 50 wt% PEI-impregnated AEROSIL was 126.2 mg/g-sorbent at $75^{\circ}C$ and this capacity was substantially higher than that of the mesoporous silica such as HMS (101.0 mg/g-sorbent) and MSU-J (66.1 mg/g-sorbent).
In order to improve the efficiency of methane steam reforming process, a part of the system which produces hydrogen from heavy hydrocarbon resources such as coal, we combined metal catalyst with CaO sorbent and fabricated catalyst/sorbent. To increase the porosity and the compressive strength of sorbent, carbon black and ${\alpha}-alumina$ were mixed with CaO powder during preparation. The effects of sorbent composition on the physical properties were investigated by SEM, TGA, BET, XRD, abrasion strength measuring device and adsorption-desorption instrument. Sorbent with 5 wt% $Al_2O_3$ and 10 wt% carbon black showed the best physical features with $7.61kg_f$ strength and 47% $CO_2$ adsorption capability. Various metal catalysts such as Ni, Co and Fe were supported on the sorbent developed and 10 wt% Ni/sorbent was selected for methane steam reforming process based on the result of reaction experiment. The reaction system using the catalyst/sorbent showed better $H_2$ productivity compared to the detached system with catalyst and sorbent, indicating the effectiveness of the system developed in this study.
In this research, we described the experimental results for the improvement of Potassium based sorbents. These sorbents have been actually used in the 0.5 MW $CO_2$ capture plant located in Hadong #3 Power Plant. Firstly, we had shaped two kinds of sorbents using a spray dryer. These sorbents applied magnetite & copper oxide as an additive. And the magnetite sorbent was evaluated more excellent relatively in the attrition index. Secondly, We had obtained TGA multicycle experimental results of the improved Potassium based sorbent which applied magnetite as an additive. Consequently, $CO_2$ sorption capacity had been sustained 5.5 wt% after 2nd cycle and attrition index was very excellent as 0.5%. Finally, we had investigated the characteristics of the sorbent following in properties of supporters. As a result, the sorption capacity of the KMO sorbent used base material as a supporter was appeared as 7.2 wt%.
Absorption and regeneration characteristics of sorbent used in a fluidized-bed process to capture $CO_2$ from flue gas have been measured in a thermo gravimetric analyzer. A sorbent Sorb NH prepared for fluidized-bed process was faster than pure $Na_2CO_3$ in absorption and regeneration reaction rate. Activation energy of apparent absorption reaction of sorbent Sorb NH was estimated as -10,100 cal/g mol and that of pure $Na_2CO_3$ as -12,200 cal/g mol. Activation energy of apparent regeneration reaction of sorbent Sorb NH was estimated as about 12,050 cal/g mol and that of pure $Na_2CO_3$ as about 11,320 cal/g mol.
To remove tar and produce environment-friendly $H_2$, one of the promising routes is the sorption-enhanced steam reforming (SESR) process, in which the $CO_2$ sorbent is a key element. We prepared the $CO_2$ sorbents with $Ca_{12}Al_{14}O_{33}$ as carrier with various methods. Their characterizations were examined, and the sample prepared by solgel (SG) method showed the strongest CaO and $Ca_{12}Al_{14}O_{33}$ phases and the most excellent pore structure among all the samples. Then, a thermogravimetric experiment was conducted, and the results showed that the sample prepared by sol-gel (SG) method had the best $CO_2$ adsorption capacity and excellent long-term cyclic stability. Finally, the sorbent was used into the steam reforming experiments of tar. Under the action of the sorbent, the reforming reaction was enhanced in-situ, with the $H_2$ yield and concentration improved obviously, and especially, $H_2$ concentration can reach over 98.85%.

Accoring to the worldwide interest to control CO$_2$ which contributes to global warming 50%, new techniques to reduce CO$_2$ are under development. Therefore, this study investigated that CO$_2$ absorption/regeneration of Sodium-based dry sorbent and the effect of SO$_2$ concentration in the fixed bed reactor. The dry sorbents were prepared in the condition of different PVA contents and calcination temperatures. As the results of this study, BET surface area showed 832.79 m$^2$/g and SEM result showed possibility as dry sorbent due to having of much micropore distribution. Also, the fixed bed reactor showed decreased CO$_2$ absorption capacity with SO$_2$ injection, because of the generation of $Na_2SO_3$ and $Na_2SO_4$.

It is necessary to find out the reaction characteristics of $CaCO_3$ sorbent particles in air and $O_2/CO_2$ atmospheric conditions in order that an in-furnace desulfurization technique can be applied to oxy-fuel combustion system. In this study, rate of change of GMD(geometric mean diameter) and specific surface area of $CaCO_3$ sorbent particles reacted in DTF(drop tube furnace) experimental setup were analyzed to investigate the effect of particle size and humidity on the reaction characteristics of them. In air atmospheric condition, calcination process occurs actively within shorter residence times as the particle size increases. On the contrary, in $O_2/CO_2$ atmospheric condition, a calcination process is delayed as particle size increases. The increment of humidity accelerates calcination process in an air atmospheric condition and increase rate of calcination in an $O_2/CO_2$ atmospheric condition.

This paper investigates the effect of coal-fired fly ash on dry $CO_2$ sorbents as the supports and additives. For this purpose, various kinds of dry sorbent were manufactured by mixing fly-ash, the primary $CO_2$ absorption components (NaOH and CaO) and water with their different combination. Thereafter, their $CO_2$ absorption performance and the property were analyzed. As a result, variation of absorption efficiency and temperature as well as $CO_2$ desorption of the sorbents are confirmed, which may be primarily ascribed to fly-ash addition to the sorbents. Particularly, fly-ash effect is strongly measured in the sorbent manufactured by mixing all four components (named WNCF sorbents). Absorption efficiency of WNCF sorbents at $550^{\circ}C$ is 35.6% higher than that of flyash free sorbent and desorption is solely observed in WNCF sorbents. Fly-ash in WNCF sorbents leads to increase the dispersity of $CO_2$ absorption components and decrease their particle size in the sorbents. In addition, fly-ash is used as the supports and pozzolanic reaction is hindered by NaOH in WNCF sorbent. Furthermore, $CO_2$ desorption from the sorbents may be due to fly-ash. The interaction between fly-ash and $CO_2$ absorption components substantially attenuate the strength between captured $CO_2$ in CaO and NaOH.
