SnO2-TiO2(Pt or Pd), as raw material for hydrocarbon gas sensors, was prepared by a coprecipitation method. The SnO2-TiO2-based thick film gas sensors were made by screen printing technique. The titanium dioxide synthesized was shown to be anatase structure from XRD peaks and was transformed to rutile structure between 700$^{\circ}C$ and 1000$^{\circ}C$. Titanium dioxide in SnO2-TiO2 thick films devices plays a very important role in the enhancement of the sensitivity to CH4 and C4H10. In the case of SnO2-TiO2(Pt) sensors, titanium dioxide that was rutile structure enhanced the sensitivity of the thick film to CH4. Platinum added to the raw powder at coprecipitation (as chloroplatinic acid VI hydrate) improved the gas sensitivity to hydrocarbon gases. Therefore, it is expected that the SnO2-TiO2(Pt) thick film sensors fabricated in this experiment could be put into practical use as LPG (primary component : C4H10 and C3H8) and LNG (primary component : CH4) sensors.
Barium titanate powder was made by firing the complex hydroxide which had been synthesized with chemical wet process by the medium of $H_2O_2$. This experiment was done as following A mixed solution of $BaCl_2$, $TiCl_4$ and $H_2O_2$ with 1:1:10 mol ratio was prepared. Ammonium hydroxide was added into the mixed solution. In the range of pH 8-10 $BaTiO_3$ complex hydroxide was obtained and treated at room temperature 11$0^{\circ}C$, 20$0^{\circ}C$, 40$0^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$. The results obtaiined from this experiment were as follows. At room temperature $BaTiO_3$ complex hydroxide was amorphous. Above 10$0^{\circ}C$ crystalline $BaTiO_3$ was obtained and particle size of $BaTiO_3$ was increased with elevated temperature. So the particle size of BaTiO3 could be controlled by the firing temperature. After treating $BaTiO_3$ complex hydroxide at 10$0^{\circ}C$ the average particle size of $BaTiO_3$ was 0.22$\mu\textrm{m}$.

The microwave dielectric properties and microstructure of the (1-x)$Mg_4Ta_2O_{9-x}TiO_2$(X=0, 0.3, 0.4) ceramic were, investigated. The specimens were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method with sintering temperature of $1350^{\circ}C$∼$1425^{\circ}C$. According to the XRD patterns, the (1-x)$Mg_4Ta_2O_{9-x}TiO_2$(X=0, 0.3, 0.4) ceramics have the $Mg_4Ta_2O_{9}$ phase(hexagonal). The dielectric constant($\varepsilon$$_{\gamma}$) and density increased with sintering temperature and mole fraction of x. To improve the quality factor and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency, TiO$_2$($\varepsilon_{r}$=100, $Q{\times}f_{r}$=40,000GHz, $\tau$$_{f}$=+450 ppm/$^{\circ}C$) was added in $Mg_4Ta_2O_{9}$ ceramics. In the case of the $0.7Mg_4Ta_2O_{9}$-$0.3TiO_2$ and the $0.6Mg_4Ta_2O_{9}$-$0.4TiO_2$ceramics sintered at $1400^{\circ}C$ for 5hr., the microwave dielectric properties were $\varepsilon$$_{\gamma}$=11.72, $Q{\times}f_{r}$=126,419GHz, $\tau_{f}$=-31.82 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ and $\varepsilon_{r}$=12.19, $Q{\times}f_{r}$=109,411GHZ, $\tau$$_{f}$= -17.21 ppm/$^{\circ}C$, respectively.
In order to obtian TiO2 fine powder of high purity, the new method which is different from the sulfate process and the chloride one was employed. TiO2 was syntehsized by the reaction between elemental titanium particles and H2O2 solutiosn at 30~7$0^{\circ}C$, and then TiO2 powder was characterized using XRD, SEM, TEM, DTA and FT-IR. It was found that the initial reaction rate was fast at a high temperature due to the high generation of activated oxygen associated with thedecomposition of H2O2. However, the reaction was slowly proceeded at a low temperature due to slow decomposition of H2O2. In this experimental range, the optimum temeprature was ocnsidered to be about 5$0^{\circ}C$. The primary particles of the hydrous titanium dioxide (TiO2 gel) before aging were spherical, and their mean sizes were about 50nm. The similar shapes and sizes were observed with calcinatin at 40$0^{\circ}C$. The FT-IR spectrum of Ti-OH in the TiO2 gel powder appeared at around 3380cm-1, 1630cm-1 and 530cm-1. This gel powder was crystallized into the anatase type TiO2 at 300~40$0^{\circ}C$.
The Effect of Dditives $ZrO_2$ and $TiO_2$ on the enstatite body the composition of which was MgO.$SiO_2$ has been closely investigated on the physical properties and microstructure. $ZrO_2$ and $TiO_2$ as additives were added by weight 5, 10, 15, 20, 25% and 1, 2, 2.5, 5, 10, 20% respectively to the mixture (MgO : SiO2=1:1) and fired at the temperature ranging from 130$0^{\circ}C$ to 145$0^{\circ}C$ and 1275$^{\circ}C$ to 1375$^{\circ}C$. Increasing the add ition or $ZrO_2$ to 20% the physical property became better. In case of $TiO_2$ the sample containing 20% $TiO_2$ had a best effect on the enstastite body. The optimum firing range proved to 14$25^{\circ}C$ for $ZrO_2$ and 1325~135$0^{\circ}C$ for $TiO_2$. The effect of $ZrO_2$ and $TiO_2$ addition on the thermal expansion was observed not ot be remarkable.

Using the Sedimentation method it's possible to get $TiO_2$ particle from which by this research, $TiO_2$ particle was produced. The parameter in the kind of the temperature and the alcohol solvent used $TiO_2$ particle production investigated crystal structure of $TiO_2$ particle and the influence exerted on the size of the particle and the form. After scanning electron microscope (SEM) analyzed methyl alcohol, iso-propylalcohol and tert-butylalcohol used by a solvent at the $TiO_2$ particle production, iso-propylalcohol was most effective. And after an thermogravimetric analyzer method was used, the anatase structure was maintained $500^{\circ}C$ by $200^{\circ}C$, but it was converted by the rutile structure by $800^{\circ}C$.

Crystalline TiO2 ultrafine powders were prepared simply by heating and stirring aqueous TiOCl2 solution with {{{{ {Ti }^{4+ } }} concentration of 0.5 M from room temperature to 10$0^{\circ}C$ under 1 atmoshpere. The crystallinity and the particle shape of TiO2 ultrafine powders obtained by simple precipitation method were analyzed us-ing XRD(X-ray diffractometer). SEM(scanning electron microscopy) and TEM(transmission electron mi-croscopy) TiO2 crystalline precipitate with rutile phases is fully formed at the temperatures of up to $65^{\circ}C$ and then TiO2 crystalline precipitate with anatase phase starts to be formed above temperatures $65^{\circ}C$ showing its full formation at 10$0^{\circ}C$ These behaviors of TiO2 crystalline precipitate directly from an aqueous TiOCl2 solution would be caused due to the existence of {{{{ OMICRON ^2+ }} ions from distilled water which oxydize TiOCl2 to TiO2 not hydrolyzing it to Ti(OH)4 Here thermodynamically stable TiO2 rutile phase generally formed at higher temperature is practically precipitated at lower temperatures in this study This may be due to the precipitation by very slow reaction enough to make TiO2 particles allocated into stable rutile structure.

The $(1-x)Mg_4Ta_2O_9-xwt%TiO_2\;(x=5\sim20)$ microwave dielectric ceramics were prepared by solid-state reaction method and sintered at $1450^{\circ}C$. According to the X-ray diffraction data, the $Mg_4Ta_2O_9-xwt%TiO_2$ ceramics had main phase of $Mg_4Ta_2O_9$ and $MgTi_2O_5$ peaks were added by increasing of $TiO_2$ addition. Microwave dielectric properties of the $Mg_4Ta_2O_9-xwt%TiO_2$ ceramics were influenced by $MgTi_2O_5$ phase and properties of $TiO_2$. There was a little decrement of the quality factor from 116,800GHz of pure $Mg_4Ta_2O_9$ to 100,100GHz of 15wt% $TiO_2$ added one. But there was excellent improvement in temperature coefficient of the resonant frequency (TCRF) by addition of 15wt% $TiO_2$. The dielectric constant quality factor and TCRF of the $Mg_4Ta_2O_9-xwt%TiO_2$ ceramics sintered at $1450^{\circ}C$ were $13.08\sim16.41,\;45,000\sim165,410GHz,\;-24.82\sim+3.88ppm/^{\circ}C$, respectively, depending on the value of x. Simulated dielectric resonator (DR) with $Mg_4Ta_2O_9-15wt%TiO_2$ ceramics had the operating frequency of 11.97GHz and $S_{2,1}$ of -35.034dB.

The low-voltage driven $SrTiO_3$ceramic varistor device was fabricated from $SrTiO_3$ powders prepared by co-precipitation method with $CuO-SiO_2$additives. Compare with conventional process, this process has advantages such as the reduction of the sintering temperature of $SrTiO_3$ ceramics by 100-$150^{\circ}C$ and the simplification of processing procedure. The non-linear coefficient value ($\alpha$) of the varistor showed 8.47 when it was sintered at $1350^{\circ}C$ for 2 h with 5 wt% additives in reducing atmosphere of 5% $H_2/N_2$ mixed gas. The low-voltage driven $SrTiO_3$ceramic varistor was obtained which has a breakdown voltage as low as 7 V.

[ $TiO_2$ ] nanoparticles were prepared from the precipitation in $TiCl_4$ and the sol-gel profess in $Ti(OC_3H_7)_4$ as starting materials with various synthetic conditions. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, and TEM testing techniques. The photocatalytic degradation of congo red has been investigated in $TiO_2/UV$ process to evaluate photocatalytic activities for the samples. $TiO_2$ nanoparticles calcined at $400^{\circ}C$ had the best photocatalytic activity with the rate constant of the degradation of congo red as $0.0319\;min^{-1}$. The rate constant of $TiO_2$ photocatalysts was increased with the calcination temperature under $400^{\circ}C$ and decreased with the calcination temperature upper $400^{\circ}C$. In the case of $TiO_2$ photocatalysts, the photocatalytic activity wasn't greatly affected by the frequencies of usage. In the similar synthesis condition, the degradation efficiency of the $TiO_2$ particle prepared by $TiCl_4$ was increased to 8.8%, when the rate was compared with the sample prepared by $Ti(OC_3H_7)_4$. The photocatalytic activities of $TiO_2$ photocatalysts synthesized by $Ti(OC_3H_7)_4$ with various conditions were also discussed.
