  • This study analyzed the range of motion of upper body in different configurations of firefighters' protective clothing and equipment. The purpose of this study was to understand the influence of firefighters' protective clothing and equipment over upper body motion in order to improve design of firefighters' protective clothing and equipment. 12 firefighters' upper body range of motion was analyzed while performing standing and walking trials in five different garment configurations including turnout ensemble, fire boots and the self-contained breathing apparatus. Analysis of upper body range of motion included spinal joints of L5S1, L4L3, T1C7, and C1Head. During standing trials, garment configurations caused a significant difference in range of motions at joints of L5S1, L4L3, T1C7, and C1Head. Analysis on the mean of range of motions at L5S1 and L4L3, showed that firefighters' waist bent forward significantly to a greater extent while they wore a self-contained breathing apparatus. A significantly increased range of motion was found for T1C7 and C1Head while carrying a self-contained breathing apparatus, which indicated an increase in the extension of the trunk and neck backward to stand upright and look squarely. A significant difference in range of motion was also found for L5S1 and L4L3 during walking trials.

  • An investigation of the coordination behavior of sulfur-containing mixed-donor tribenzo-macrocycles $L^1-L^3$ ($L^1$: 20-membered $O_3S_2$, $L^2$: 20-membered $O_2S_3$, and $L^3$: 23-membered $O_4S_2$) with $d^{10}$-metal ($Ag^+$, $Hg^{2+}$, and $Pb^{2+}$) salts is reported. The X-ray structures of five complexes (1-5) with different structural types and stoichiometries, including mono- to dinuclear species have been determined. Reactions of $L^2$ and $L^3$ with the silver(I) salts ($PF_6{^-}$ and $SCN^-$) afforded two dinuclear 2:2 (metal-to-ligand) complexes with different arrangements: a sandwich-type cyclic dinuclear complex $[Ag_2(L^2)_2](PF_6)_2{\cdot}3CH_2Cl_2$ (1) and a linear dinuclear complex $[Ag_2(L^3)_2(SCN)_2]$ (2), in which two monosilver(I) complex units are linked by an Ag-Ag contact. Reactions of $L^1$ and $L^2$ with mercury(II) salts ($SCN^-$ and $Cl^-$) gave a mononuclear 1:1 complexes $[Hg(L^1)(SCN)_2]$ (3) and $[Hg(L^2)Cl_2]$ (4) with anion coordination in both cases. $L^2$ reacts with lead(II) perchlorate to yield a mononuclear sandwich-type complex $[Pb(L^2)_2(ClO_4)_2]$ (5), giving an overall metal coordination geometry of eight with a square antiprism arrangement. From these results, the effects of the donor variation and the anioncoordination ability on the resulting topologies of the soft metal complexes are discussed.

  • Let ${A_t)}_{t>0}$ be a dilation group given by $A_t = exp(-P log t)$, where P is a real $n \times n$ matrix whose eigenvalues has strictly positive real part. Let $\nu$ be the trace of P and $P^*$ denote the adjoint of pp. Suppose that $K$ is a function defined on $R^n$ such that $$\mid$K(x)$\mid$ \leq k($\mid$x$\mid$_Q)$ for a bounded and decreasing function $k(t) on R_+$ satisfying $k \diamond $\mid$\cdot$\mid$_Q \in \cup_{\varepsilon >0}L^1((1 + $\mid$x$\mid$)^\varepsilon dx)$ where $Q = \int_{0}^{\infty} exp(-tP^*) exp(-tP)$ dt and the norm $$\mid$\cdot$\mid$_Q$ stands for $$\mid$x$\mid$_Q = \sqrt{}, x \in R^n$. For $f \in L^1(R^n)$, define $mf(x) = sup_{t>0}$\mid$K_t * f(x)$\mid$$ where $K_t(X) = t^{-\nu}K(A_{1/t}^* x)$. Then we show that $m$ is a bounded operator of $L^1(R^n) into L^{1, \infty}(R^n)$.

  • Given vectors x and y in a Hilbert space, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator T such that Tx = y. An interpolating operator for n vectors satisfies the equation $Tx_i\;=\;y_i,\;for\;i\;=\;1,\;2,\;\cdots,\;n$. In this paper the following is proved: Let H be a Hilbert space and L be a commutative subspace lattice on H. Let H and y be vectors in H. Let $M_x\;=\;\{{\sum{n}{i=1}}\;{\alpha}_iE_ix\;:\;n\;{\in}\;N,\;{\alpha}_i\;{\in}\;{\mathbb{C}}\;and\;E_i\;{\in}\;L\}\;and\;M_y\;=\;\{{\sum{n}{i=1}}\;{\alpha}_iE_iy\;:\;n\;{\in}\;N,\;{\alpha}_i\;{\in}\;{\mathbb{C}}\;and\;E_i\;{\in}\;L\}. Then the following are equivalent. (1) There exists an operator A in AlgL such that Ax = y, Af = 0 for all f in ${\overline{M_x}}^{\bot}$, AE = EA for all $E\;{\in}\;L\;and\;A^{*}\;=\;A$. (2) $sup\;\{\frac{{\parallel}{{\Sigma}_{i=1}}^{n}\;{\alpha}_iE_iy{\parallel}}{{\parallel}{{\Sigma}_{i=1}}^{n}\;{\alpha}_iE_iy{\parallel}}\;:\;n\;{\in}\;N,\;{\alpha}_i\;{\in}\;{\mathbb{C}}\;and\;E_i\;{\in}\;L\}\;<\;{\infty},\;{\overline{M_u}}\;{\subset}{\overline{M_x}}$ and < Ex, y >=< Ey, x > for all E in L.

  • The United States will proceed with the effort to modernize the GPS system, and one of its main content is to provide L5 signal. L5 will be transmitted in a radio band reserved exclusively for aviation safety services. And, L5, in combination with L1, will improve the position accuracy via ionospheric correction and robustness via signal redundancy. However, The acquisition processing time of L5 takes longer than that of L1 as the code length of L5 is 10 times longer than that of L1. To reduce this acquisition processing time, a higher number of correlators in the aquisition module should be used. However, there is a problem that this causes increase in the complexity of the correlator configuration and the computation power. So, in this paper, we propose L5 signal tracking scheme using tracking results in the GPS L1/L5 receiver. The proposed scheme could reduce the hardware complexity as the GPS L5 signal acquisition module is not needed, and provide fast and stable tracking of L5 signal by aiding L1 tracking results such as PRN, the code phase synchronization, and the Doppler frequency. The feasibility of the proposed scheme is demonstrated through simulation results.

  • Background: Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression is tested by immunohistochemistry (IHC)-22C3, SP263, and SP142. The aim of this study is to evaluate the correlation among the three methods of PD-L1 IHC in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and clinical significance of PD-L1 expression in lung adenocarcinoma with an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine kinase domain mutation. Methods: The results of 230 patients who were pathologically confirmed as having NSCLC; tested using PD-L1 IHC 22C3, SP263, and SP142 methods; and evaluated via the peptide nucleic acid clamping method to confirm EGFR mutation, were analyzed in this study. Results: 164 patients underwent both the SP263 and 22C3 tests. There was a significant positive correlation between the outcomes of the two tests (Spearman correlation coefficient=0.912, p<0.001), with a derived regression equation as follows: 22C3=15.2+0.884×SP263 (R2=0.792, p<0.001). There was no relationship between the expression of PD-L1 and clinical parameters, including EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) mutation. The PD-L1 expression in patients treated with EGFR-TKI yielded a 2-month-shorter progression period than that in the PD-L1-negative group. However, this did not reach statistical significance (PD-L1<1% vs. PD-L1≥1%, 10 months vs. 8 months). Conclusion: The results of the 22C3 and those of SP263 methods were in good correlation with one another. Since the PD-L1 expression is not influenced by the EGFR mutation, it is necessary to perform a PD-L1 test to set the treatment direction in the patients with EGFR-mutant NSCLC.

  • In this paper, we propose the design of a dual-band GPS antenna using in-direct feeding pads. The antenna consists of an upper patch for the GPS L1 band, a lower patch for the GPS L2 band, and two pads on the middle layer for feeding the two radiating patches. A hybrid chip coupler with a phase difference of $90^{\circ}$ is employed at the two feeding ports for achieving a broad circular polarization (CP) bandwidth. The proposed antenna shows bore-sight gains of 3.0 dBic(L1) and 5.1 dBic(L2), and axial ratios of 3.3 dB(L1) and 0.3 dB(L2) by measurement. The active element patterns of the fabricated array with 7 elements show bore-sight gains of -0.4 dBic (L1) and -2.4 dBic(L2), respectively. It proves that the proposed antenna structure is suitable for use in GPS array applications.

  • This study concerns Stanojevic's academic works on the $\mathfrak{L}^1$-convergence of Fourier series from 1973 to 2002. We review his academic works. Also, we briefly investigate a simple academic lineage for the researchers of $\mathfrak{L}^1$-convergence of Fourier series until 2012. First, we introduce the classical lineage of the researchers for $\mathfrak{L}^1$-convergence Fourier series in section 2. Second, we investigate the backgrounds of Stanojevic's study at Belgrade University and University of Missouri-Rolla respectively. Finally, we compare and consider the $\mathfrak{L}^1$-convergence theorems of Stanojevic's results from 1973 to 2002 successively. In addition, we compose a the simple lineage of $\mathfrak{L}^1$-convergence of Fourier series from 1973 to 2012.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the factors determining core journals in a field based upon the results of the citation analysis of the journals in the field of Korean History(KH). In order to verify the determinant factors, dividing the articles of the KH journals into their novelty and author's seniority, the following hypotheses were established. Hypothesis 1: When a KH journal publishes more articles on prehistoric and ancient eras than others, the journal will have higher chance to be included in the core journals. Hypothesis 2: When a KH journal publishes more articles by senior researchers than others, the journal will have higher chance to be included in the core journals. To achieve the purpose, the cited articles found in the two sample journals, namely, Backsan Hakbo and Hanguksa Yongu were analysed during the past 20 years from 1962 to 1981. Applying the Hirst's Discipline Impact Factor method to the the study, Historical Science Impact Factor(HSIF) on the samples itself and the historical era dealt with in the articles and the seniority of the authors during every five-year period. Based upon thr present study to ver~fy the two hypotheses, the following conclusions have been reached. 1) Tht. most influencing sublect mattcr era or1 thix liSIF of the lo~lrual is arranged in prehistoric arid ancient, Koryo, Chosun, recent era, and the others by order of era. 2 ) Clial~g~~lg a fringe or semicore journal u~to a core j ~ u r n a l , very IISIF' 011 it> article e r a 1s grown up arrd prcllistoric a ~ ~ d ancierlt era:. are, s p c c ~ a l l ~ , incr.eased high relatively. • A series of S-(2,2-diethoxycarbonyl-1-phenylethyl)-L-cysteine derivatives (10a-e) were synthesized from the reaction of $\beta$$\beta$-diethoxycarbonylstyrene with L-cysteine in 1:1 aqueous methanol. Thus, S-(2,2-diethoxycarbonyl-1-phenylethyl)-L-cysteine( 10a), S-[2,2-diethoxycarbonyl-1-(3',4'-methylendioxy)ph enylethyl]-L-cysteine (10b), S-[2,2-diethoxycarbonyl-1-(3',4',5'-trimethoxy)phe nylethyl]-L-cyseine (10c), S-[2,2-diethoxycarbonyl-1-(p-hydroxy)phenylethyl] -L-cysteine (10d), S-[2,2-diethoxycarbonyl-1-(p-methoxy)phenylethyl] -L-cysteine (10e) were obtained in moderate to excellent yields. The structure of the adducts was characterized by analytical and spectral data. The effects of pH upon the product yields were also briefly examined.
