Microstructure of oxide formed on Zr-Nb-Sn tube sample was intensively examined by scanning transmission electron microscopy after exposure to simulated primary water chemistry conditions of various concentrations of Zn (0 or 30 ppb) and dissolved hydrogen ($H_2$) (30 or 50 cc/kg) for various durations without applying desirable heat flux. Microstructural analysis indicated that there was no noticeable change in the microstructure of the oxide corresponding to water chemistry changes within the test duration of 100 days (pretransition stage) and no significant difference in the overall thickness of the oxide layer. Equiaxed grains with nano-size pores along the grain boundaries and microcracks were dominant near the water/oxide interface, regardless of water chemistry conditions. As the metal/oxide interface was approached, the number of pores tended to decrease. However, there was no significant effect of $H_2$ concentration between 30 cc/kg and 50 cc/kg on the corrosion of the oxide after free immersion in water at $360^{\circ}C$. The adsorption of Zn on the cladding surface was observed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and detected as ZnO on the outer oxide surface. From the perspective of $OH^-$ ion diffusion and porosity formation, the absence of noticeable effects was discussed further.
Gelatinization properties and the molecular structure of Korean waxy rice starchesisolated from two japonica types, Sinseonchal, and Dongjinchal, as well as an indica type, Hangangchal 1 were investigated. Sinseonchal is preferred cultivar for making Korean traditional rice cakes and cookies. Sinseonchal starch was the highest in crude protein, amylopectin, damaged starch contents, and water binding capacity among the cultivars tested. The initial pasting temperature ($72.75^{\circ}C$), peak (360.54 RVU), breakdown (162.21 RVU) and setback (30.83 RVU) viscosities of Sinseonchal had the highest values (p<0.05). Onset and peak temperatures by differential scanning calorimeter were also the highest in Sinseonchal. The molecular weight of Sinseonchal amylopectin was 5.46 107higher than those of the other cultivars, but its peak height and area were the lowest among them. The amylopectin peak by HPSEC showed a shoulder in the lower molecular weight portion and its relative area decreased in the following order; Sinseonchal > Dongjinchal > Hangangchal 1. On the branch chain length distribution of amylopectin, the proportion of DP13-24 and DP25-36 showed reverse trends, with higher japonica type amylopectin in DP13-24.
The honey samples harvested in 1996, 1997, and 1998 were used for calibration and validation. NIR spectra were obtained using NIR spectrometer and quartz glass device with gold coating diffuser. Multiple linear regression and partial least square were used for calibrations. The correlation coefficient (RSQ) and standard error of prediction (SEP) obtained for moisture were 0.997 and 0.1%, respectively. The RSQ and SEP for fructose and glucose were 0.926 and 0.951%, and the SEP were 0.54% and 0.52% respectively. The validation results for sucrose, maltose, HMF definition, and acidity of honey were considered to be sufficient for practical use RSQ and SEP for SCIR were 0.950 and $1.08%_{\circ}$, respectively. These results are indications of the rapid determination of purity of the honey through NIR analysis.

In order to study a reversible photoisomerization of disperse red l(DR 1) attached on natural polymers, cellulose acetate containing DR l(DR 1/CA adduct) was prepared, and the changes of UV/VIS spectra of its solution(benzene, DMAc). thick film, and LB film were investigated by alternate irradiation with two different wave length lights. DR 1/CA adduct was prepared through tosylation of partially hydrolyzed cellulose acetate followed by reaction with DR 1 at $100^{\circ}C$ in pyridine. From the UV/VIS spectra of DR 1/CA adduct dissolved in DMAc solvent including phosphoglyceride before and after irradiation at 360nm and 45Onm, we found out the changes of UV/VIS spectra were reversible. In addition, the change of UV/VIS spectra of this adduct solution was strongly depended on the sorts of solvents and temperature. As the temperature was increased, UV/VIS spectra of this adduct solution in DMF showed blue shift. These results provided this solution could be applied to a temperature sensor. In the thick film case, we also obtained similar results with solution case. LB monolayer and trilayer from DR 1/CA adduct was obtained by scattering the solution including phosphoglyceride on water surface at the surface pressure of 8mN/m. After irradiation on that LB monolayer and trilayer, the reversible photoisomerization was also detected. From these results we concluded DR 1/CA adduct was suitable for the application to data storage and optical switch, etc.
An improved kinetic assay for prekallikrein activator (PKA), a potential vasodilator, has been developed to be used as an indicator for quality control during production of human albumin preparations. It consists of two reaction stages. In the first stage, PKA and prekallikrein are incubated at $37^{\circ}C$ for 45 min to allow the transformation into kallikrein. Kallikrein, a serine protease, catalyzes the splitting of p-nitroaniline (pNA) from its substrate H-D-Pro-Phe-Arg-pNA(S-2302). The rate at which pNA is released was measured spectrophotometrically at 405 nm. Prekallikrein, a substrate of PKA was purified by DEAE ion-exchange chromatography and the major potential variations in the assay were optimized; pH 8.0 and 150 mM sodium chloride were chosen to give a proper ionic strength. Reaction times in the range of 10 to 360 min provided linear dose-response curves. The concentration of prekallikrein was adjusted to fall between 1:1 and 1:3 dilutions to generate a linear standard calibration curve. Under the optimized conditions, reproducibility was checked. In a precision test, the coefficient of variation (CV) stayed within ${\pm}4%$ and the dose-response curve showed a good correlation (${r^2}=0.999$). An accuracy test with an international standard of PKA afforded a mean recovery of 97.5%.
The structure of $CS_{7.3}Ag_{4.7}Si_{12}Al_{12}O_{48}$, vacuum dehydrated zeolite A with all Na+ ions replaced by $Cs^+$ and $Ag^+$ as indicated, has been determined by single-crystal x-ray diffraction techniques in the cubic space group, Pm3m (a = 12.282 (1) ${\AA}$). The structure was refined to the final error indices $R_1$$R_2$ (weighted) = 0.099 using 347 independent reflections for whind intlch $I_0\;>\;3{\sigma}(I_0)$. Although deydration occurred at $360^{\circ}C$, no silver atoms or clusters have been observed. The 8-ring sites are occupied only by $Cs^+$ ion, and the 4-ring sites only by a single $Ag^+$ ion. The 6-ring sites contain $Ag^+$ and $Cs^+$ ions with $Ag^+$ nearly in 6-ring planes and $Cs^+$ well off them, one on the sodalite unit side. With regard to the 6-rings, the structure can be represented as a superposition of two types of unit cells: about 70 % have $4Ag^+$ and $4Cs^+$ ions, and the remaining 30 % have $3Ag^+$ and $5Cs^+$. In all unit cells, $3Cs^+$ ions lie at the centers of the 8-rings at sites of D4h symmetry; these ions are approximately 0.3 ${\AA}$ further from their nearest framework-oxygen neighbors than the sum of the appropriate ionic radii would indicate. To minimize electrostatic repulsions, the $Cs^+$ ions at Cs(1) are not likely to occupy adjacent 6-rings in the large cavity; they are likely to be tetrahedrally arranged when there are 4.
This study intends to find a positive effect on the learning of elementary school students by developing the exhibition contents of on-offline museum. This on-offline museum contents were combined with existing exhibit types and direct experience elements, and the theory of [blended learning]. Through this study, analyzing the limitations of existing online museum and finding with experiment to see if the new contents had a learning effect compared to the existing online museum. As a result of the experimental study, the content with a [direct experience] was counted as a high satisfaction and frequency index, and the [play] and [experience] type of direct experience contents showed higher satisfaction than the indirect experience type contents. Through this study, we want to provide new implications and development possibilities in the development of contents that online museums can provide, and to promote various effects on children's education.
Lotus leaf has a special dual micro and nano surface structure which gives its highly hydrophobic surface characteristics and so-called self cleaning effect. In order to endow PVDF hollow fiber membrane with this special structure and improve the hydrophobicity of membrane surface, PVDF hollow fiber composite membranes was obtained through the immersion coating of poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) dilute solution on the outside surface of PVDF support membrane. The prepared PVDF composite membranes were used in the vacuum membrane distillation (VMD) for the desalination. The effects of PVDF-HFP dilute solution concentration in the dope solution and coating time on VMD separation performance was studied. Membranes were characterized by SEM, WCA measurement, porosity, and liquid entry pressure of water. VMD test was carried out using $35g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NaCl aqueous solution as the feed solution at feed temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ and the permeate pressure of 31.3 kPa. The vapour flux reached a maximum when PVDF-HFP concentration in the dilute solution was 5 wt% and the coating time was kept in the range of 10-60 s. This was attributed to the well configuration of micro-nano rods which was similar with the dual micro-nano structure on the lotus leaf. Compared with the original PVDF membrane, the salt rejection can be well maintained which was greater than 99.99 % meanwhile permeation water conductivity was kept at a low value of $7-9{\mu}S{\cdot}cm^{-1}$ during the continuous testing for 360 h.
To optimize the fermentation period of lightly salted Oiji, 3% salt was added to cucumbers that were fermented at $27{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ for 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 days, after which their physical properties (moisture content, salinity, pH, acidity, hardness) and sensory characteristics (acceptance test, difference test) were evaluated. The moisture content was highest at day 6. Hardness slowly increased as fermentation time increased, but not significantly. The pH was highest after 3 days of fermentation, and tended to decrease as fermentation time increased, with the largest drop occurring between 4 and 5 days, and the lowest pH occurring between 6 and 7 days. Acidity was lowest after day 3 of fermentation and highest after day 7. Acidity tended to increase as fermentation period lengthened. The L-value tended to decrease as salt concentration increased. The a-value declined from day 3 to day 5, then increased significantly by day 7. The b-value was highest after 7 days, with a tendency to increase as the fermentation progressed. Acceptance test results were highest for taste and overall acceptance after 5 days of fermentation. The difference test showed that the optimal lightly salted Oiji fermentation period was approximately 5 days. These results indicate that lightly salted Oiji fermented for 5 days produced the highest acceptance.

K1A1 tank commander's primary thermal sight is a device that enables tank commanders to detect, identify, aim and track the target by observing targets in all directions during day, night and in situations of smokescreen and fog through $360^{\circ}$ rotation independent from the gunner's primary thermal sight and stabilizing the line of sight even under the vibrations occurring when the tank is standstill and moving. The main function of this device is to detect and process visible and thermal images and deliver the final images to the tank commander. One of the core parts to that end is the observation window (daytime/thermal image window). This core part is mounted at the entrance of the optical path for observing the target and plays the role of making visible light during the daytime and infrared light during the night pass through the target and transmitting the resultant images to the internal optical system of the tank commander's primary thermal sight. Such core parts have been selected as depot maintenance items so that they are replaced by new parts instead of being recycled when they are subjected to maintenance in most cases. That is, the military budget is wasted because such parts are replaced by new parts despite that they can be recycled for maintenance. Therefore, this study proposed a mounting tool for polishing and coating observation windows (daytime and thermal image window) using planar polishing equipment and DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating equipment. In addition, this study presented an amendment (proposal) of the Depot Maintenance Work Request (DMWR) already published to verify the performance of recycled products including the establishment of inspection standards for recycling processes.
