Microstructure of High Voltage ZnO Varistors by Various Addition. (다양한 첨가물에 의한 고전압 ZnO 바리스터의 미세구조)

  • ZnO varistor has many merits as compared with SiC varistor. But, because of leakage current and non-linear coefficient, it has unstable function properties. For the purpose of improvement of ZnO varistor properties, ZnO varistor is studied according to sintering condition and mixing condition. ZnO varistor, $ZnO-Bi_2O_2-Y_2O_3-MnO-Cr_2O_3-Sb_2O_3$ series, is fabricated with $Sb_2O_3$ mol ratio(0.5-4[mol%]) and sintered at $1250[^{\circ}C]$ In accordance with $Sb_2O_3$ mol ratio and sintering temperature, grain size and non-linear coefficient are measured. The specimen, $Sb_2O_3$ mol ratio is 1[mol%], has small grain size. It has best properties because of its liquid phase shape. When $Sb_2O_3$ mol ratio is 1[mol%], grain size is decreased.

Degradation of PDP Phosphors Under VUV Excitation (PDP 형광체의 진공 자외선 조사에 따른 열화 특성)

  • $(Y,Gd)BO_3$: Eu, $Zn_2$$SiO_4$ : Mn and $BaMgAl_{10}$ $O_{17}$ : Eu phosphors used in PDP were continuously irradiated by vacuum ultra violet generated from the penning gas (96%Ar+4%Xe) discharge and then the change of emitting intensity with time was investigated. The brightness of these phosphors decreased exponentially with VUV excitation time. The experimental data showed that the degradation rate increased in the order of $Zn_2$$SiO_4$ : Mn>(Y,Gd)$BO_3$: Eu>$BaMgAl_{10}$ $O_{17}$ : Eu phosphor. This different degradation property of phosphors was interpreted in terms of brightness saturation and stability against VUV irradiation. It was found that the degradation property of $(Y,Gd)BO_3$ : Eu red phosphor synthesized by ultrasonic thermal spray was superior to commercial phosphor.

Geochemical Characteristics of Stream Sediments Based on Bed Rocks in the Naju Area, Korea (기반암에 따른 나주지역 하상퇴적물의 지구화학적 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate geochemical characteristics for stream sediments in the Naju area. We collected 139 stream sediments samples from primary channels. Samples were dried slowly in the laboratory and chemical analysis was carried out using XRF. ICP-AES and NAA. In order to investigate geochemical characteristics, the geological groups categorized into granitic gneiss area, schist area, granite area, arenaceous rock area, tuff area, andesite area, and rhyolite area. Average contents of major elements for geological groups are $SiO_2\;58.37{\sim}66.06wt.%,\;Al_2O_3\;13.98{\sim}18.41wt.%,\;Fe_2O_3\;4.09{\sim}6.10wt.%,\;CaO\;0.54{\sim}1.33wt.%,\;MgO\;0.86{\sim}1.34wt.%,\;K_2O\;2.38{\sim}4.01wt.%,\;Na_2O\;0.90{\sim}1.32wt.%,\;TiO_2\;0.82{\sim}1.03wt.%,\;MnO\;0.09{\sim}0.15wt.%,\;P_2O_5\;0.11{\sim}0.18wt.%$. According to the comparison of average contents of major elements, $Al_2O_3\;and\;K_2O$ are higher in granitic gneiss area, $Fe_2O_3,\;CaO,\;P_2O_5$ are higher in tuff area, MgO and $TiO_2$ are higher in andesite area, $Na_2O_$ is higher in rhyolite area, $SiO_2$, and MnO are higher in arenaceous rock area. Average contents of minor and rare earth elements for geological groups are $Ba\;1278{\sim}1469ppm,\;Be\;1.1{\sim}1.5ppm,\;Cu\;18{\sim}25ppm,\;Nb\;25{\sim}37ppm,\;Ni\;16{\sim}25ppm,\;Pb\;21{\sim}28ppm,\;Sr\;83{\sim}155ppm,\;V\;64{\sim}98ppm,\;Zr\;83{\sim}146ppm,\;Li\;32{\sim}45ppm,\;Co\;7.2{\sim}12.7ppm,\;Cr\;37{\sim}76ppm,\;Cs\;4.8{\sim}9.1ppm,\;Hf\;7.5{\sim}25ppm,\;Rb\;88{\sim}178ppm,\;Sc\;7.7{\sim}12.6ppm,\;Zn\;83{\sim}143ppm,\;Pa\;11.3{\sim}37ppm,\;Ce\;69{\sim}206ppm,\;Eu\;1.1{\sim}1.5ppm,\;Yb\;1.8{\sim}4.4ppm$. According to the comparison of average contents of minor and rare earth elements for geological groups, Pb, Li, Cs, Hf, Rb, Sb, Pa, Ce, Eu, and Yb are higher in granitic gneiss area; Ba, Co, and Cr in schist area; Nb, Ni, and Zr in arenaceous rock area; Sr in tuff area: and Be, Cu, V, Sc, and Zn are such in andesite area.

Geochemical Characteristics on Geological Groups of Stream Sediment in the Boseong-Hwasun Area, Korea (보성-화순지역 하상퇴적물에 대한 지질집단별 지구화학적 특성)

  • We study the natural background and geochemical characteristics on geological groups of stream sediment in the Boseong-Hwasun area. We collected 186ea stream sediment samples along the primary channels and dried them naturally in laboratory. The contents of major, trace and rare earth elements were determined by XRF, ICP-AES and NAA analysis methods. In order to know the natural background and geochemical characteristics of geological groups, we classified the studied area into granitic gneiss (GGn) area and porphyroblastic gneiss (PGn) area. The contents range of major elements for GGn area is $SiO_2$ 45.5-73.09 wt.%, $Al_2O_3$ 12-20.76 wt.%, $Fe_2O_3$(T) 3.72-8.85 wt.%, $K_2O$ 2.38-4.2 wt.%, MgO 0.75-2.77 wt.%, $Na_2O$ 0.78-1.88 wt.%, CaO 0.27-2.1 wt.%, $TiO_2$ 0.56-1.72 wt.%, $P_2O_5$ 0.06-0.73 wt.% and MnO 0.03-0.95 wt.%, and for PGn area it is $SiO_2$ 43.74-70.71 wt.%, $Al_2O_3$ 11.54-25.05 wt.%, $Fe_2O_3$(T) 3.44-13.46 wt.%, $K_2O$ 2.08-3.86 wt.%, MgO 0.65-2.99 wt.%, $Na_2O$ 0.63-1.7 wt.%, CaO 0.35-2.07 wt.%, $TiO_2$ 0.68-4.17 wt.%, $P_2O_5$ 0.1-0.31 wt.% and MnO 0.07-0.33 wt.%. The contents range of hazard elements for GGn area is Cr 41.7-242 ppm, Co 7.6-25.1 ppm, Ni 12-61 ppm, Cu 10-47 ppm, Zn 48.5-412 ppm, Pb 17-215 ppm, and for PGn area, it is Cr 29.6-454 ppm, Co 5.9-53.7 ppm, Ni 8.7-287 ppm, Cu 6.4-134 ppm, Zn 43.6-370 ppm, Pb 15-37 ppm area. There is a good correlation between Cr and MgO and Co among $Al_2O_3$, $Fe_2O_3$(T), MgO and Ni among $Fe_2O_3$(T), CaO, MgO whereas Cu, Zn and Pb have a low correlation for major elements in GGn area. Generally Cr, Co, Ni, and Cu have a good correlation with major elements, but a low correlation with Zn and Pb in PGn area.

Geochemical Composition of Volcanic Ash from Historical Eruptions of Mt. Baekdu, Korea (역사시대에 분화한 백두산 화산재의 화학 성분)

  • Volcanic ash samples of historical eruptions from Mt. Baekdu were analyzed for major oxides, trace and rare earth elements by a variety of analytical techniques. The results indicate that the ashes consist of approximately 58.8~71.1 wt.% $SiO_2$, 9.6~16.8 wt.% $Al_2O_3$, 4.5~6.9 wt.% $Fe_2O_{3t}$, 0.1~1.7 wt.% MgO, 0.3~1.6 wt.% CaO, 5.2~6.3 wt.% $Na_2O$, 4.3~5.9 wt.% $K_2O$ and less than 1.2 wt.% $TiO_2$. Thirty two trace metals including Ba, Cu, Cr. Co, Ni, Sr, V, Zn, and Zr were analyzed. The ashes can be divided two groups: group A(1 ka Millennium pumice, 1668 and $190{\underline{3}}$ pumice) and group B(1702 pumice) according to the relative enrichment of HREEs. The abundances of heavy metals such as Cu, Co, Mn, and Zn were relatively low. As compared to the Sakurajima volcanic ash, Baekdusan volcanic ash has low concentrations of Y, Nb, Pb, U, Sc, V, Ni and Cu and high concentrations of Zr, Ba, Hf, Cr, Co, Zn and rare-earth (except Eu).

Growth Characteristics and Chemical Components in Local Collections of Artemisia sp. (수집종(蒐集種) 쑥(Artemisia sp.)의 생육특성(生育特性) 및 성분함량(成分含量))

  • This experiment was conducted to select and rear the adaptable cultivar which isused for various purpose and to build a year-round cultivation using with characters of aerial part and analysis of chemical components in 28 local cultivar of Artemisia princeps Var. The growth of aerial part, which are stem length, stem diameter, no. of branch, node, leaf size and leaf pubescence, in north local cultivars was more vigorous than those of south local caltivars. Fresh weight of "Myeongcheonssuk " was highest in local caltivars, and in view of local area, local cultivars which was collected from Iri Si and Euiseong Gun was shown the highest fresh weight. Local cultivars as mentioned above had a characters with plenty of leaves, nodes and pubescence of leaf is long. In chemical components of leaves in morth cultivar, content of N, MgO, Zn, Cu, Mn was high, while $P_2O_5,\;K_2O$ in middle local cultivars, Fe in south local cultivars. The more content of carbohydrate in leaves was high, the content of $K_{2}O$ had a increasing tendency. In local cultivars which was collected form Iri Si and Euiseong Gun with the highest fresh weight, content of $N,\;P_{2}O_5,\;K_{2}O$ was high, on the other hand content of MgO, Zn, Ca, Mn, Fe, was low in leaves of Artemisia Princeps Var.

Electromagnetic Properties of Magnetic Core Materials and Attenuation of Blocking Filter (Blocking filter용 자심 재료의 전자기 특성 및 신호 감쇄율)

  • The electromagnetic properties and thermal behavior of Mn-Zn ferrite cores for the blocking filter of Power Line Communication(PLC) application were investigated as a function of additives. The highest density and permeability were 4.98 g/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 8,221, respectively and were obtained to the specimen with composition of MnO 24 mol%, ZnO 25 mol% and Fe$_2$O$_3$ mol%, added MoO$_3$ of 400 ppm, SiO$_2$ of 100 ppm, and CaO of 200 ppm. The uniform grains were organized, and the microstructures were densified due to reduction of pores in the specimen. The permeability was increased up to 13,904 as the temperature of specimen increased to 110$^{\circ}C$. However, it was decreased precipitously under 100 over 110$^{\circ}C$. The exothermic behavior was observed in the frequency range from 1 kHz to 1 MHz, and the maximum temperature of specimen was 102$^{\circ}C$ at 1 MHz. In the consequence, the Mn-Zn ferrite core developed in this research will maintain the stable electromagnetic properties since the temperature of ferrite core rose to 93$^{\circ}C$ in the range of 100 kHz to 450 kHz bandwidth qualified for PLC. The blocking filters were designed for single phase and three phases using the in-line and non-contact core. The best attenuation ratios of -46.46 dB and -73.9 dB were measured in the range of 100 kHz to 450 kHz bandwidth, respectively.

Occurrence and Chemical Composition of Dolomite and Chlorite from Xiquegou Pb-Zn Deposit, China (중국 Xiquegou 연-아연 광상의 돌로마이트와 녹니석 산상과 화학조성)

  • The Xiquegou Pb-Zn deposit is located at the Qingchengzi orefield which is one of the largest Pb-Zn mineralized zone in the northeast of China. The geology of this deposit consists of Archean granulite, Paleoproterozoinc migmatitic granite, Paleo-Mesoproterozoic sodic granite, Paleoproterozoic Liaohe group, Mesozoic diorite and Mesozoic monzoritic granite. The Xiquegou deposit which is a Triassic magma-hydrothermal type deposit occurs as vein ore filled fractures along fault zone in unit 3 (dolomitic marble and schist) of Dashiqiao formation of the Paleoproterozoic Liaohe group. Xiquegou Pb-Zn deposit consists of quartz, apatite, calcite, pyrite, arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite, marcasite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, stannite, galena, tetrahedrite, electrum, argentite, native silver and pyrargyrite. Wallrock alteration of this deposit contains silicification, pyritization, dolomitization, chloritization and sericitization. Based on mineral petrography and paragenesis, dolomites from this deposit are classified two type (1. dolomite (D0) as wallrock, 2. dolomite (D1) as wallrock alteration in Pb-Zn mineralization quartz vein ore). The structural formulars of dolomites are determined to be Ca1.03-1.01Mg0.95-0.83Fe0.12-0.02Mn0.02-0.00(CO3)2(D0) and Ca1.16-1.00Mg0.79-0.44Fe0.53-0.13Mn0.03-0.00As0.01-0.00(CO3)2(D1), respectively. It means that dolomites from the Xiquegou deposit have higher content of trace elements compared to the theoretical composition of dolomite. The dolomite (D1) from quartz vein ore has higher content of these trace elements (FeO, PbO, Sb2O5 and As2O5) than dolomite (D0) from wallrock. Dolomites correspond to Ferroan dolomite (D0), and ankerite and Ferroan dolomite (D1), respectively. The structural formular of chlorite from quartz vein ore is (Mg1.65-1.08Fe2.94-2.50Mn0.01-0.00Zn0.01-0.00Ni0.01-0.00Cr0.02-0.00V0.01-0.00Hf0.01-0.00Pb0.01-0.00Cu0.01-0.00As0.03-0.00Ca0.02-0.01Al1.68-1.61)5.77-5.73(Si2.84-2.76Al1.24-1.16)4.00O10(OH)8. It indicated that chlorite of quartz vein ore is similar with theoretical chlorite and corresponds to Fe-rich chlorite. Compositional variations in chlorite from quartz vein ore are caused by mainly octahedral Fe2+ <-> Mg2+ (Mn2+) substitution and partly phengitic or Tschermark substitution (Al3+,VI+Al3+,IV <-> (Fe2+ 또는 Mg2+)VI+(Si4+)IV).

무기물 색변환층 두께 변화에 따른 유기발광소자의 발광 스펙트럼에 주는 영향

  • 백색 유기발광소자는 일반적으로 적색, 청색 및 녹색의 삼원색을 혼합하여 제작하거나 청색 유기발광소자의 빛을 일부 변환시켜 적색 혹은 녹색을 발생하여 백색을 발광하는 구조를 가진다. 백색을 구현하기 위한 삼원색 조합법은 소자의 구조가 복잡하고 제조단가가 상승하며 제작 된 백색 유기 발광 소자내의 발광 영역을 담당하는 물질의 빠른 열화 때문에 발광 스펙드럼에 변화가 생길 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 색변환 방법은 최적화된 청색 유기발광소자에서 발광된 빛을 색변환 무기물 형광체 층에 의해 재흡수하고 재발광하는 과정에 의해 빛이 발생되기 때문에 색변환 무기물 형광체 층을 사용한 유기발광소자는 구조가 단순하며 무기물 형광체가 외부노출에 안정하기 때문에 상대적으로 안정된 동작이 가능하다. 청색 유기 발광 소자의 효율이나 휘도를 개선하면 소자의 성능이 향상될 수 있는 구조적 장점이 있다. 그러나 기존에 일반적으로 제조하던 방법인 고상반응법에 의한 형광체입자의 크기는 ${\mu}m$ 이상이며 형태도 불규칙한 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 졸겔방법으로 녹색 무기물 형광체 $Zn_2SiO_4:Mn$를 제작하였고 청색 형광 유기 발광 소자에 적용하였다. X-선 회절측정 결과는 형성된 녹색 무기물 형광체내의 Zn 이온이 도핑된 Mn 이온에 대체되었음을 보여주었다. 제작된 진청색 형광 OLED의 전계발광 스펙트럼은 461nm에서 발광 스펙트럼을 나태내고 녹색 무기물 형광체는 470 nm에서 여기되어 Mn 이온의 $^4T_1-^6A_1$ 전이에 의하여 526 nm에서 발광을 한다. 이 과정에서 색변환층의 두께가 0.3 mm 이상일 때 461 nm의 발광스펙트럼의 세기가 급격히 줄어들었다. 이 결과는 제작된 녹색 무기물 형광체를 진청색 유기발광소자와 결합하고 색변환층의 두께를 변화하여 제작된 유기발광소자의 발광색을 조절할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

.Improved Photoluminescence of $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}:Mn$ Under VUV Excitation

  • We applied the spray pyrolysis technique to prepare Mn-doped $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}$ (BAM) particles with high photoluminescence, which could be used in the plasma display device as a green phosphor. Several preparation conditions were investigated in order to tail the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) characteristics. Some portions of barium were replaced with strontium to improve the luminescent intensity of BAM:Mn particles under VUV excitation. The content of Mn and Sr was optimized to obtain high luminescent efficiency under VUV excitation. Finally, the optimized BAM:Mn green particles showed higher photoluminescence intensity than that of commercial $Zn_2SiO_4$ and comparable with commercial barium-aluminate phosphor.
