In this study 1-[4-(2-methoxy benzyl)-6-aryl-pyridazin-3(2H)-ylidene] hydrazines were used for the synthesis of new heterocyclic systems such as thiazolidine, phthalazine, pyrazolo, tetrazolo, hydrazide and new pyridazine derivatives to explore the effect of silver nanoparticles on their biological activity efficiency. Structures of the new heterocycles were characterized by the aid of several analytical techniques including; $^1H$-NMR, FTIR and mass spectra. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple methodology and the formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV studies. Most of the new prepared heterocycles were evaluated in vitro as new antimicrobial agents. Combination effects of the silver nanoparticles on the antimicrobial activity of the new heterocycles were investigated using the disk diffusion method. Compound 10a exhibited the strongest enhancing effect of silver nanoparticles solution against Aspergillus flavus and Candida albicans.

The hydrolysis kinetics of 2-furyl chalcone derivatives $[I]{\sim}[V]$ was investigated by ultraviolet spectrophotometery in 30% dioxane-$H_{2}O$ at $25^{\circ}C$ and the structure of these compounds were ascertained by means of ultraviolet, infrared and NMR spectra. The rate equations which were applied over a wide pH range(pH $1.0{\sim}12.0$) were obtained. The substituent effects on 2-furyl chalcone derivatives $[I]{\sim}[V]$ were studied, and the hydrolysis were facilitated by the electron attrecting groups. On the basis of the rate equation, substituent effect, general base effect and final product. the plausible hydrolysis mechaism was proposed: Below pH 4.0, it was only proportional to concentration of hydronium ion, at pH $4.0{\sim}9.0$, neutral $H_{2}O$ molecule competitively attacked on the double bond. By contrast, above pH 9.0, it was proportional to concentration of hydroxide ion.
The purpose of this study was to ivestigate the structural characteristics of waste soulble browning reaction prodcuts (WS-BRPs) isolated from Korean red ginseng. They all showed the maximum absorbances at near 280 nm. Their IR spectra suggested the presence of hydroxyl, amide carbonyl and aliphatic methine groups. From sugar analysis it was identified that L and S-1 contained two kinds of suggar, glucose and xylose, and S-2, a fructose together with glucose and xylose. Thirteen different amino acids were identified in L. Ten amino acids from S-1 and seven amino acids from S-2 were identified using Auto Amino Acid Analyzer. Glycine, serine and glutamic acid in S-1 and one unknown amino acid and glycine in S-2 were detected as the major amino acids, respectively. From the 1H-and 13C-NMR spectra, it was identified that a number of sugar moieties, carbonyl and carbon double bonds (only in S-2) were contained in the three WS-BRP components. Approximate number of sugar moiety of L, S-1 and S-2 was determined to be 8∼10, 9∼11 and 4∼5, respectively. Contents of nitrogen, carbon and hydrogen showed L>S-1>S-2.

Photosensitive resin of azide type is good for resolution and inner solvent, but it is really problem to development of practical use because fanctional groups of polymer has many hydrophilic radicals. By careful attention to this point, this study was investigated synthesis term, photo property and development property of composed photosensitive resin of azida type, it is to this effect. 1) H-NMR spectrum of compared DABCI showed amion redical by $\delta$6.0~6.1ppm to substitude for azide radical by amino radical by $\delta$8.9~9.45ppm, and FT-IR absorption spectra showed the absorption bends at 2100cm. 2)FT-IR absorption spectra of PHS1-DAB, PHS2-DAB, CMM-DAB and CHM-DAB showed azida radical pick to be lost at after irradiation by UV light. 3) According to exposuer change of PHS1-DAB, PHS2-DAB, CMM-DAB and CHM-DAB, absorption maximum value of UV spectrum change was 280nm. 4) to compared relative sensitivity of compared photosensitive resin, PHS2-DAB was the best and to compared insolubility rate of compared photosensitive resin, CMM-DAB was the lower. 5)Solubility if NaOH was the best by 1.0mol/$\ell$ and solubility of developing solution of ethanol to water was it in the ratio of 4 to 1.
The antimicrobial activities of Helicobacter pylori as a functional food source with water and 60% ethanol extracts from Rododendron mucronulatum Turcz. flowers were examined. The total phenol content of 60% ethanol extracts (30.6${\pm}$0.14 mg/g) from Rododendron mucronulatum Turcz. flowers was higher than that of water extracts (23.2${\pm}$0.21 mg/g). The inhibitory activities of Rododendron mucronulatum Turcz. extracts on H. pylori was determined to clear zone of 15 mm in 80% ethanol extracts. Purification of inhibitory compounds was carried out in Sephadex LH-20 and MCI-gel CHP-20 column chromatography using a gradient procedure, with increasing ethanol(0${\rightarrow}$100%) in $H_2O$. The chemical structure of the purified inhibitory compounds of H. pylori was identified to be quercitrin (quercetin-3-O- rhamnopyranoside), myricitrin (myricetin-3-O-rhamnopyranoside), quercetin by FAB-MS, NMR and IR spectra.

In the human skin, vitamin C (L -ascorbic acid) that is well known as the activated materials has effects that is skin anti-aging and wrinkle repair by giving impetus to collagen biosynthesis and anti-oxidation, and that is the sun screen, a wound recovering, inhibition melanogenesis and so on. In spite of its effects, vitamin C has the defects of the skin stimulation and easily oxidized instability by water, air, heat and light. For solving their matters, many investigation is advanced and its results are synthesized the various vitamin C derivatives. And yet they have not solved the unstable property of vitamin C and were still insufficient for the comparing with the effect of the pure vitamin C itself. In this study, in order to prepare vitamin C derivative of being improved the stability and to apply vitamin C effect in the skin, we prepared new vitamin C derivative, phytosphingosine ascorbate, by using phytosphingosine, one of sphingolipids, which have a distinguished skin affinity. Phytosphingosine ascorbate can be prepared as the ionic bond between amine group (-NH$_2$) of phytosphingosine and hydroxy group (-OH) of vitamin C by way of the relatively simple reaction. So the structure and properties of the synthesized phytosphingosine ascorbate was confirmed the use of elemental analysis (C 58.3 : H 9.3 : N 2.8 : O 29.5), MALDI TOF-MS (Mw=492.58), Ultraviolet spectra (268.5nm), lH NMR, FT-IR spectra, thermal analysis (m.p=l54$^{\circ}C$), HPLC and so on. And we could confirm the anti-bacterial and anti-oxidation effects. Based on these results, we could confirm to prepare a new material that was expected of both effects of vitamin C and phytosphingosine and that is improved properties of vitamin C.

In order to obtain insight into the mechanism by which DNA containing a thymine photo-dimer is recognized by the excision repair enzyme, T$_4$ endonuclease V, we have taken NMR study of this protein and its complex with oligonucleotides. The conformations of five different DNA duplexes DNA I : d(GCGGATGGCG).d(CGCCTACCGC), DNA II d(GCGGTTGGCG) .d(CGCCAACCGC), DNA III : d(GCGGT ^ TGGCG) .d(CGCCAACCGC), DNA IV d(GCGGGCGGCG).d(CGCCCGCCGC) and DNA V d(GCGGCCGGCG) . d(CGCCGGCCGC) were studied by $^1$H NMR. The NMR spectra of these five DNA duplexes in the absence of the enzyme clearly show that the formation of a thymine dimer within the DNA induces only a minor distortion in the structure, and that the overall structure of B type DNA is retained. The photo-dimer formation is found to cause a large change in chemical shifts at the GC7 base pair, which is located at the 3'-side of the thymine dimer, accompanied by the major conformational change at the thymine dimer site. The binding of a mutant T$_4$ endonuclease V (E23Q), which is unable to digest DNA containing a thymine dimer, to the DNA duplex d(GCGGT ^ TGGCG)ㆍd(CGCCAACCGC) causes a large down-field shift in the imino proton resonance of GC7. Therefore, this position is thought to be either the crucial point of the interaction wi th T$_4$ endonuclease V, or the si to of a conformational change in the DNA caused by the binding of T$_4$ endonuclease V. Usually, it is very difficult to assign NMR peaks in DNA * protein complex because of severe peak overlaps. In order to overcome these peak overlaps, we used a method of deuterium incorporation.

Unsymmetrical tetradentate Schiff base N-(2-hydroxy-5-methylacetophenone)-N'-(2-hydroxy acetophenone) ethylene diamine (H2L) and its complexes with Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility measurements, IR, electronic spectra and thermogravimetric analyses. 1H, 13C-NMR and FAB Mass spectra of ligand clearly indicate the presence of OH and azomethine groups. Elemental analyses of the complexes indicate that the metal to ligand ratio is 1:1 in all complexes. Infrared spectra of complexes indicate a dibasic quadridentate nature of the ligand and its coordination to metal ions through phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atoms. The thermal behavior of these complexes showed the loss of lattice water in the first step followed by decomposition of the ligand in subsequent steps. The thermal data have also been analyzed for the kinetic parameters by using Horowitz-Metzger method. The dependence of the electrical conductivity on the temperature has been studied over the temperature range 313-403 K and the complexes are found to show semiconducting behavior. XRD and SEM images of some representative complexes have been recorded. The antimicrobial activity of the ligand and its complexes has been screened against various microorganisms and all of them were found to be active against the test organisms. The Fe(III) and Ni(II) complex have been tested for the catalytic oxidation of styrene.
For the structure determination of D-(+)-sucrose, which consists of ${\alpha}$-D-(+)-glucose and ${\beta}$-D-(+)-fructose, it was acetylated with acetic anhydride and triethyl amine, pyridine, zinc chloride, and sodium acetate as catalysts. The acetylated D-(+)-sucrose was acid-hydrolyzed using sulfuric acid and sodium chloride in methanolic solution. The structures of the reaction products were determined by $^1H$-NMR and $^{13}C$-NMR spectra. The yield of the acetylation indicated the high value in zinc chloride as 70% in zinc chloride catalyst. The acid-hydrolyzed product of the acetylated D-(+)-sucrose, 2,3,4,6,1',3',4',6'-octa-O-acetyl-D-(+)-sucrose, gave 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-${\beta}$-D-(+)-glucose and it suggests that the acetylated D-(+)-sucrose was rearranged through the formation of oxonium ion by mutarotation in the 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-${\alpha}$-D-(+)-glucose moiety and through the ring opening in the 1',3',4',6'-tetra-O-acetyl-${\beta}$-D-(+)-fructose moiety.
