Activation of Carbon Fiber in $\textrm{CO}_2$ Gas(l)-Activation process of carbon fiber- ($\textrm{CO}_2$ gas를 이용한 탄소섬유의 활성화(I)-탄소섬유의 활성화 과정)

  • 등방성 피치계 탄소섬유를 Co$_{2}$gas중에서 등온산화시켜 활성탄소섬유를 제조하였다. 산화된 섬유의 비표면적은 BET장치를 이용하여 측정하였다. Burn-off가 증가하여도 반응속도는 크게 감소하지 않았으며, 80$0^{\circ}C$와 90$0^{\circ}C$에서 산화된 섬유의 비표면적은 40%-60%의 burn-off에서 급격히 증가하다가 60%이상에서 감소하였다. 110$0^{\circ}C$에서 산화된 시편은 40%이상 burn-off되어도 비표면적은 크게 증가하지 않고 60%를 지나서도 계속해서 표면적이 증가하는 현상을 나타내었다. 100$0^{\circ}C$에서 60.4%의 burn-off가 일어난 산화섬유의 비표면적은 3,614$m^2$/g로 가장 큰 값이 얻어졌다. 등방성 탄소섬유는 미세한 흑연결정립들이 무질서한 배향을 하고 있으며, 미세기공벽으로 작용할 수 있는 결정립층이 많기 때문에 활성탄소섬유 제조를 위한 원료로 적합하다고 판단된다.

Effects of Modifiers on the Supercritical $CO_2$ Extraction of Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and the Morphology of Licorice Tissue

  • Optimal extraction conditions such as pressures, temperatures, and modifiers on glycyrrhizin extraction from licorice were investigated using supercritical $CO_2\;(SC-CO_2)$ at 3 mL/min flow rate. Morphology of licorice tissue, after glycyrrhizin extraction, was examined by SEM, and absolute density ($g/cm^3$) measurement and glycyrrhizin content were determined by HPLC. Pure $SC-CO_2$ had no effect on glycyrrhizin extraction, but recovery of glycyrrhizin ($32.66{\pm}0.77%$) was enhanced when water was used as modifier. The highest recovery was $97.22{\pm}2.17%$ when 70% (v/v) aqueous methanol was added to 15% (v/v) $SC-CO_2$ at 50 MPa and $60^{\circ}C$. Under optimal extraction conditions, 30 MPa pressure and $60^{\circ}C$ heating temperature, glycyrrhizin recovery reached maximum ($102.67{\pm}1.13%$) within 60 min. Licorice tissue was severely damaged by excessive swelling, and absolute density of licorice residues was highest when aqueous methanol was used as a modifier.

CO2 Gas Responsibility of SnO5 Thin Film Depending on the Annealing Temperature (SnO2 박막의 열처리 온도에 따른 CO2가스 반응성)

  • The $CO_2$ gas responsibility of $SnO_2$ thin films was researched with various annealing temperatures. $SnO_2$ was prepared on n-type Si substrate by RF magnetron sputtering system and annealed in a vacuum condition. The bonding structure of $SnO_2$ was changed from amorphous to crystal structure with increasing the annealing temperature, and the content of oxygen vacancy was researched the highest of the annealed at $60^{\circ}C$. The $SnO_2$ annealed at $60^{\circ}C$ had the characteristics of the highest capacitance. The special properties of $CO_2$ gas responsibility was found at the $SnO_2$ thin film annealed at $60^{\circ}C$ with amorphous structure because of the combination with the oxygen vacancies and $CO_2$ gases changed the resistivity. The amorphous structure enhanced the responsibility at the $SnO_2$ surface and the conductivity of $SnO_2$ thin film.

  • The effect of Co and annealing temperature on the magnetic properties, phase change and microstructure of melt-spun $(Nd_{14.73}Fe_{78.67}B_{6.60})_{100-x}Co_x$ (X=0, 1, 2, 3) ribbons has been studied. The Co containing ribbons were found to have higher coercivity ($_iH_c$) than the ribbons without Co. Intrinsic coercivity of 20.3 kOe has been obtained by addition of 2 at%Co. This effect by Co addition is also represented in the case of hot pressed and die-upseted magnets. The maximum intrinsic coercivities of hot press and die-upset $(Nd_{14.73}Fe_{78.67}B_{6.60})_{100- x}Co_x$ (X=0, 1, 2, 3) magnets are 16.9 kOe and 15.2 kOe when X=2.

Effect of Shading Level on the Induction of Inflorescence and Growth of Phalaenopsis Hybrid (차광 수준이 팔레놉시스의 화경 발생과 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was carried out to find an optimum shading level for the growth of root and shoot, and to find the effect of shading level after August on the induction and growth of inflorescence of Phalaenopsis hybrid. The shading levels were 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% and 90% of natural light($1200{\mu}molm^{-2}s^{-1})$. The $CO_2$ uptake, transpiration rate, carbohydrate content, fresh weight and dry weight of Phalaenopsis hybrid were higher at 50-60% level than the others. But, it was diminished when the shading level was increased from 70% to 90%. Inflorescence length, the number of inflorescence and flower per plant all increased under 50-60% shading level and the day needed for the flowering after treatment decreased. Especially, the induction of inflorescence was depressed and flowering is not occurred under 90% during experiment period. These results suggest that the optimal shading level for the growth of Phalaenopsis including inflorescence was founded to be 50-60% in the season of light intensity and amount of sunshine decrease after august.

  • SAGD (steam assisted gravity drainage) process is the most commonly used in-situ technology for the recovery of bitumen from oil sand. It was investigated that the effects of different additives on bitumen recovery rate from oil sand in SAGD process among many possible mechanisms studied throughout the study. Bitumen recovery from thin layer oil sand reservoirs was simulated by using an experimental SAGD apparatus with scale of 150:1. To improve the simulation accuracy of thin layer oil reservoir, we have attached geological model (GM). Oil sand was simulated by using a mixture of extra heavy oil and glass beads with a diameter of 1.5 mm. $CO_2$ was used as an additive and the evolution of steam chambers were closely monitored, and the effects of $CO_2$ as an additive was investigated. Two types of injection methods were tested; continuous ($cCO_2$-SAGD) and sequential interruption ($sCO_2$-SAGD) $CO_2$ injection. For the $sCO_2$-SAGD experiment, it was observed that the recovery rates and CSOR were efficiently improved control experiment from 60.2% to 69.3% and 7.1 to 6.0, respectively, whereas $cCO_2$-SAGD experiment decreased from 60.2% to 57.6% and 7.1 to 7.3.

Effects of Moisture Content and CO2 Gas Injection on Physicochemical Properties of Extruded Soy Protein Isolate (수분함량과 CO2 가스 주입에 따른 분리대두단백 압출성형물의 이화학적 특성)

  • The objective of this study was to determine the effect of moisture contents (40, 50, 60%) and $CO_2$ gas injection (0 and 800 mL/min) on physicochemical properties of extruded soy protein isolate (SPI). The expansion ratio and the specific length increased, but piece density decreased with the increase in $CO_2$ gas injection from 0 to 800 mL/min at both 40 and 50% moisture contents. On the contrary, the expansion ratio and the specific length decreased, but piece density increased with the increase in $CO_2$ gas injection from 0 to 800 mL/min at 60% moisture content. Extruded SPI with $CO_2$ gas injection at 800 mL/min had small cell size and higher amount of cell than extruded SPI without $CO_2$ gas injection. The water holding capacity and nitrogen solubility index increased, and the integrity index and the texture decreased with the increase in $CO_2$ gas injection from 0 to 800 mL/min. In conclusion, extruded SPI with the $CO_2$ gas injection at 800 mL/min showed better expansion properties and cell formation than extruded SPI without the $CO_2$ gas injection.

Correlation of $^{137}Cs/^{60}Co$ Activity Ratio in Radwaste with Primary Coolant (원자로 냉각재와 방사성폐기물 내 $^{137}Cs/^{60}Co$ 핵종비)

  • In order to compare the correlation of radioactivity ratio between the radwaste streams and the primary coolant of PWR NPPs, A RCS sampling kit was installed to primary coolant system for the collection of the radionuclides during the normal operation of NPPs. RCS samples were collected from PWR type of domestic NPPs through 2004 to 2005, and pretreated with acid microwave digestion or leaching method to assay quantitatively of several interesting radionuclides. The radioactivity ratios of $^{137}Cs\;to\;^{60}Co$ in a filter cartridge and a resin cartridge were 2.3E-2 and 7.3E-1, respectively. At a same period of the reactor operating cycle, the radioactivity ratios of $^{137}Cs\;to\;^{60}Co$ were 6.3E-1 for a evaporator bottom, 6.7E-1 for a spent resin, and 5.6E-2 for a dry active waste, so that these radwaste streams were identified as having similar characteristics with the corresponding RCS samples.
